Reviews for Hôtel Le Carnot

Review 1:We visit Wimereaux several times a year first time staying at this hotel, it will not be the last great value for money, great location plenty of free parking nearby, staff where lovely and a good breakfast for 8 euros. Also the onsite restaurant is really good it gets busy at the weekends so best to book.

Review 2:No separate bar for drinks in the hotel After your meal there was a breakfeast room which was on offer but was not heated

Review 3:Proximity to Boulogne, citie Europe and beeches

Review 4:We were given a warm, friendly welcome and our room was on the 2nd floor. The hotel is in the town centre but you can see the sea if you lean out of the window. The room was newly and tastefully decorated with sufficient storage space. The bed was comfortable and we had an excellent nights sleep. Bathroom facilities were excellent with plenty of room, although a small shelf to put your toiletries on would have been helpful. The icing on the cake is the restaurant, with a menu to suit most tastes, well presented and not expensive. I'd recommend this hotel/restaurant to anyone. We'll be back next year.

Review 5:Member of staff ran after us when we left as we had not paid a 2 euro charge. I had paid for the hotel before traveling and paid for meal in the restaurant at the time so have no idea what that charge was as he did not speak English!

Review 6:Location, room, restaurant

Review 7:It was noisy on a night and the beds were uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone travelling with young children.

Review 8:Recently decorated. There's a supermarket opposite which was useful.

Review 9:The dish-of-the-day lamb is to be avoided. The starter and sweet course of the "menu" were nice although I don't remember what they were. Our double room at 85 euros, possibly the cheapest, could hardly be said to be good value as it had no view, it was rather small and there was nowhere to put anything.

Review 10:Just an overnight stay on a shopping trip in nearby Boulogne. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was OK. We parked the car in the vicinity. Parking is free until 9am. The staff were the nicest thing about the hotel.

Review 11:The restaurant is very poor quality food

Review 12:Great location. Staff helpful. Rooms modern comfortable and clean. Would stay there again but wouldnt recommend restaurant. Eat elsewhere. Could park really close to hotel. Had lift to all floors and catered for disabled

Review 13:No where for residents to enjoy a drink when the restaurant was closed, we got ushered into the breakfast room. Also breakfast was over priced too.

Review 14:Room was good and clean. We especially enjoyed the jacuzzi bath. It was in a great location for taking a stroll to the sea.

Review 15:Had to park car in street

Review 16:It was in centre of small town Room was quiet looking onto side road Very good breakfast very good evening meal especially seafood. Easy walk to seafront.

Review 17:Modernised room in a traditional hotel in the centre of town, and close to the beach. Convenient for channel ports and the beach resort. Nice atmosphere in the hotel, and good dinner and breakfast. Lock-up garage available nearby.

Review 18:wifi was flakey.

Review 19:Excellent food in the restaurant and good choice of foods at breakfast buffet. Visiting in August it was useful to have a garage space.

Review 20:could have used a fan, as it was a warm night.

Review 21:triple room had a separate small room (a bit more than a dressing room, a bit less than a small bedroom) that could fit the two baby cots for our twins.

Review 22:I wish we could have stayed there longer

Review 23:The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. The breakfast and the food offered at the restaurant were delightful too. Wimereux is not the exactly a Metropolis but still the location of the hostel is quite good just on the main street a short walk away from the beach

Review 24:The WiFi in the room was horrible. The placement and the size of the television on the wall was absurd. The construction on the neighboring property started too early and was too loud. The staff could have been a little more friendlier.

Review 25:The location was great and the bathroom was spacious and clean.

Review 26:On street parking tricky in the height of the holiday season.

Review 27:Lovely hotel in the centre of seaside town. Room was nicely decorated and separate room for the kids was a definite plus point. Spotlessly clean throughout, comfy beds and very friendly (English speaking) staff. We also had a very good meal in the hotel restaurant one evening. Well placed for local attractions, ie. aquarium in Boulogne, La Coupole, Le Touquet, etc. Highly recommended.

Review 28:triple room very pokey. the staff's indifference to lack of wifi connection in triple room and family room. It should not be advertised as having free wifi. Lack of vegetarian food. Boring menu.

Review 29:The superior family room - very nice. Food reasonable where there was a choice.

Review 30:Wimereux is a "banlieue" of Boulogne-sur-mer which has some very poor violent neighborhoods. We were unlucky to stay the night of a "Techno" party in Wimereux which attracted a lot of severly drunken young men. Our and several other cars parked in the main street were smashed during the night. Pure gratuitous violence and destruction. the worst of a beautiful but decaying country.

Review 31:Rooms are modern and spacious.

Review 32:Unfortunately, the wifi did't work in our bedroom.

Review 33:The staff were lovely. We arrived with a van and trailer expecting to park by the Mairie but unfortunately, there was a concert on that evening in the carpark. The hotel tried their best to help and offered us garage parking but in the end we were able to find parking on the street near to the hotel. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent and very good value.

Review 34:Difficulties with wifi connection and then intermittent signal strength.

Review 35:Good location in centre of town. Attached restaurant is convenient, with good atmosphere and fine food. Supermarket and bakeries just over the road and Tourist office less than 100m.

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:A great overnighter on the way up to Calais. great central location, even the car pointing in the right direction for easy access to exit and motorway. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant downstairs and reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. I'm pleased that I trusted other reviewers before me !

Review 38:Room very small and austere rather like a budget hotel, therefore not good value for price - probably paying for location. Motorcyclists beware : if you do not have a parking space booked you will not be accommodated and will have to leave your bike on the street.

Review 39:Hotel situated in lovely seaside resort. The hotel was quiet despite it's central location in town. Nice bedding and comfortable beds.

Review 40:Cleanliness of hotel. Friendliness of staff. Restaurant was excellent, not cheap but great food and service and well worth the money. Le Carnot is a wonderfully located hotel in a lovely resort. Wimereaux turned out to be the highlight of our weekend away.

Review 41:Staff were really friendly and helpful. Comfortable clean. Chose to eat in brasserie attached to hotel after looking at other places. And we were right to. Lively atmosphere more importantly good food.

Review 42:The restaurant and bar area looked lovely and there seemed to be a great atmosphere, but as it was after 9 30pm we couldn't sit in there for a drink even though people were still eating. Instead we were shown to the TV / breakfast room which was empty and totally lacking in atmosphere. This was a shame because we would have happily left the bar as soon as the last diner had finished. Apart from this, the hotel was perfect and we would stay there again.

Review 43:The room was very airy and recently renovated to a high standard. Tea and coffee making facilities were useful.

Review 44:parking not included, for € 8/dag you rent a parking box around the corner. If you like soft toilet paper and nice shampoo/soap, bring your own. ;-) The walls are not soundproof: we had quiet neighbours, still could hear them talking, zipping up their suitcase, ...

Review 45:Friendly staff, nice shower, good basic *** hotel.

Review 46:This was our last stop before the Tunnel home, its right by the beach with a lovely promenade. The Hotel was clean, rooms a bit small but adequate, shower was great, food was excellant and great value for money. Very affordable

Review 47:Wi-Fi was erratic to the extent that it could not be relied on. Restrictive free on-street car parking.

Review 48:Breakfast had a good choice albeit a little pricy. Good size room and fittings looked as if they had recently been refurbished.

Review 49:We booked 2 rooms 1 Double and 1 Triple, the triple costing more, but were charged 10 euro per night extra for an extra bed when we had already paid for a triple room for 2 people!!!

Review 50:Good restaurant on site, good location in the town centre

Review 51:Some of the rooms are on the small side, with limited storage for clothes, but fine for a night or 2. The service in the restaurant is variable - some great, some not so.

Review 52:The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms are modern, with comfy beds. It has many different room configurations, so handy if you are a family or with a group of friends.

Review 53:Bathroom a bit small ( room 3 ) Cupboard too near toilet!

Review 54:Restaurant, very good food and not expensive! Good continental breakfast at reasonable price.

Review 55:Location in the centre of town means limited views from rooms, no dedicated parking and on street parking is limited which is a slight concern if travelling by motorcycle.

Review 56:Very clean, fresh and well decorated in all areas, quality fixtures/fittings, a very comfortable place to stay. Excellent evening meal in the restaurant.

Review 57:Quite small room and no bath but nonetheless very clean and very comfortable bed with modern decor.

Review 58:Helpful and polite staff, very clean and comfortable room, with high quality restaurant.

Review 59:Nothing to do with the hotels but be advised, Wimereaux is quite expensive for eating and drinking. Its charm has meant many other nationalities have discovered it and booking is essential for many restaurants.

Review 60:The location is superb, the staff absolutely impeccable and friendly. Nothing was a problem and everything was done with a smile.

Review 61:I would have liked a bed which was a bit more comfortable.

Review 62:We booked a triple room and our son had his own, separate adjoining room. Everything was spotless and the coffee was replenished every day! There was also a lovely jacuzzi bath and the restaurant was excellent. Many thanks to all the staff.

Review 63:Very bad wi fi. Barking dogs next door, would not blame hotel for it. Breakfast should be included in room rate.

Review 64:Amazing restaurant. Value for money. Very helpful receptionist. Clean. English speaking. Nice views within walk. Would recommend.

Review 65:Large breakfast and fair value for price but would prefer smaller amounts for less money but suspect most people enjoy the choice and quantity.

Review 66:Staff very helpful. Restaurant very good. Moules some the best we have had. Good atmosphere. Room spotless. Not huge but only needed a good clean quiet place to relax and sleep.

Review 67:Friendly staff, lovely hotel, fabulous resteraunt, close to the beaches and seafront yet in the centre of town, will definitely be going back for a return visit.

Review 68:We are a family of three with a ten year old. We were booked into a superior family room that had a small bedroom with two single beds and the main room with a large comfortable bed. We liked the seperate wc and the recently refurbished bathroom was spotlessley clean. The hotel was in the centre of the town with secure parking at the hotel available at an extra charge, or street parking nearby which we chose. We did not try the restaurant but did notice it was full on both nights of our stay. The beach was a hundred meter walk away and other attractions were close by. Nausicaa, Le Touquet and Cite Europe. I would have liked to have had breakfast included in the room charge. We ate breakfast out. We would stay again as the hotel is pet friendly and we can take our dog.

Review 69:The restaurant waiters appeared more interested in chatting to their friends than serving the few customers eating dinner on Sunday evening. The lift, although new (2014), felt unreliable and in fact jammed with a passenger inside on Monday morning - he was released quickly and an engineer was called.

Review 70:A good staging post after a drive from Switzerland to the Tunnel. Room and bed were comfortable once we'd removed the decaying rubber undersheet. Garages available if needed.

Review 71:not much! maybe the toilets in our bedroom needed a bit of attention.

Review 72:the comfy bed and nicely decorated bedroom, the lovely restaurant, the friendly and professional staff.the superb location.

Review 73:We have stayed here on many occasions and we are never disappointed. The hotel has recently been refurbished and the rooms and facilities are excellent value. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is of a high standard. It is a regular venue for the French - we always think this is a good sign! Highly recommended

Review 74:If one must find a point: the coffee at breakfast tasted rather 'anonimous' but that's personal of course....

Review 75:Nice room, friendly staff, quality breakfast

Review 76:Street parking a bit hit and miss - high season could be difficult.

Review 77:Freshly refurbed hotel. Tasteful décor in grey/neutrals. Good location in main shopping street. Polite hospitable staff. Intimate feeling to place. Decent evening meal (whelks and magret de canard recommended) and wine list.

Review 78:Breakfast. See above. Lots of little cafés in the town to go and have a coffe and crossant in for half the price and double the taste.

Review 79:I love the revamped bedrooms and the lovely lively atmosphere in the restaurant. I would book as it gets busy. I don't like the room out the back where breakfast is served or indeed the breakfast! Too expensive and only filter coffee available which is never quite hot enough!

Review 80:Location food in restaurant. Clean room, comfy bed. Wimereux is a great little place. Came over to pick up christmas supplies in cite de europe and then spent a great evening in wimereux. We will be back.

Review 81:We had a lovely weekend break. Everything was excellent and we like that there is an option of a garage. Breakfast was fantastic,so much choice.

Review 82:Stayed at the hotel as we were visiting the War Graves in Wimereaux. Hotel very charming with good restaurant; very clean, helpful staff would recommend.

Review 83:Rooms very boxy and hot, Room 8 you could not sit on the loo unless it was sideways, they had built the sink immediately in front of it. They provide sachets of tea and coffee, but you are 'only allowed one milk per person per 24 hours, no exceptions' there was no language barrier, my husband is French! if you want a drink, you have to go out the back in the cold room on your own, not in the hotel restaurant in case other customers want a table, even if you tell them you will only be half an hour and the restaurant is empty!

Review 84:The location was central and the bathroom was clean.

Review 85:We could park in the side street by the hotel but I imagine that could be tricky in high season.

Review 86:Our room was recently refurbished by the look of it and everything worked. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant.

Review 87:Bathroom was through the single bedroom The size of the TV for its position on the wall was miniscule Why can't anyone put night lights in the bathroom?

Review 88:Separate single room in the triple Good location with on street parking usually available

Review 89:Although I was amazed to find an electric bed the mattress was so hard it was a little uncomfortable.

Review 90:Restaurant was excellent as always and great value with great selection. Newly refurbished rooms were great along with hotel. Good to have a lift.

Review 91:Unfortunately I found the family room a little small, the single bed was a metal frame bed in a slot between the window and bathroom, which was difficult for my 6 foot son to get in and out of. Would have been nice to have an English Cable channel, but none of the above would put me off re-visiting this hotel.

Review 92:The staff and management were excellent, very friendly very helpful, spoke English and went out of their way to say hello. Excellent location, very good restaurant which was part of the restaurant (but book or you may be disappointed) and a good selection for continental breakfast. Great bathroom in room.

Review 93:Too many dogs - although most were well behaved A shame we had to move car from public car park due to Market but at least parking was free.

Review 94:Evening dining in restaurant was excellent with good choice of menu. Spa bath in bedroom was great for relaxing after a busy day

Review 95:Delivery of vegetables at 06.00 disturbed a good nights sleep.

Review 96:Room was clean and tidy with jacuzzi bath. Restaurant serves a wide variety of quality food.

Review 97:Some street noise at night on the day we stayed - an inevitable risk of a town centre hotel - but that won't put us off going back

Review 98:A very comfortable hotel with an excellent restaurant and well placed for the town centre and sea front, both of which are well a visit, as is the whole surrounding area. (Bathroom exceptional if that's important to you.)

Review 99:The breakfast was OK, but not as good as the restaurant food

Review 100:All good, location and staff very helpful. The restaurant for an evening meal is very good also. Would recommend to any one as they will enjoy the stay

Review 101:the hotel has a bar but doesnt appear to use it , we were unable to sit with a drink. the restaurant was not as good as the others in wimereux

Review 102:wimereux has a quality of life that is very relaxing the hotel shared this . very clean and comfortable

Review 103:There were no negatives during the time of my stay

Review 104:My French was learnt at school 50+ years ago! and the staff went out of their way to communicate with me in English. Optional breakfast had so many choices, that even the most fussiest of eaters is well catered for. Quiet location too!

Review 105:We missed a little bit a nice bar, where one can sit and have a nightcap after the Restaurant was closed.

Review 106:The Hotel is situated in the main street of the town, but in the evening it is getting much calmer. We had a very nice room, which was quiet and nicely done up and the bed got good mattresses. The staff was very friendly and the Restaurant is really to recommend (we have to come back to have the mussels in garlic-sauce again) ! We enjoyed our stay very much. Merci !

Review 107:No wifi signal in room, but it worked in reception area.

Review 108:Very clean and nicely done up rooms. Very close to sea and parking in the street was fine. Comfortable bed, sheets and towels changed daily. Quiet location (road outside but not much traffic at night).

Review 109:The wi-fi was a bit temperamental. The showers were a bit power-less with low water pressure.

Review 110:The refurbishment is excellent - the rooms are well decorated and well equipped.(We had stayed at the hotel before.) Rooms are airy and comfortable.Great to have built-in kettles and hair-dryers!We received a warm welcome and the staff were helpful and pleasant. A very enjoyable break.

Review 111:Wifi very poor signal. There is only on street parking, if the town is busy finding a place could be tricky.

Review 112:Newly refurbished bedrooms, very comfortable and clean. Lovely restaurant, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 113:stayed in a triple room, nice clean good staff, wifi was good close to the beach, good choice of food at the restaurant. kids were happy, would definitely recommend

Review 114:TV has no English channels

Review 115:Rooms all renovated and decorated in nice pastel colours. New furniture and fittings. Excellent bathroom. Staff fantastic. Wonderful stay, can't wait to go back.

Review 116:Breakfast was big disappointment for €10 each as the only thing fresh was fruit salad .

Review 117:Room and shower room were excellent . Staff friendly and helpful . Great central location . Value for money .

Review 118:Nothing not to like.

Review 119:Excellent hotel in a good position within 120m of the beach. Free parking on the local roads. Breakfast good with a wide range. Room clean and comfortable with lift to all floors. Owners speak excellent English and are very friendly and go that little bit further to make the stay welcoming.

Review 120:Room was a bit small for 3 not a lot of space left to walk around as we had a double bed and a sofa bed. Couldn't get WiFi as instructions were in French. Asked for a drink in the evening but no room to sit so told to wait in the piano bar. No one came so we left. Not any major problems and didn't affect our stay one bit.

Review 121:The staff were very friendly and all spoke English. Very attentive towards you. Price was good and breakfast typical continental very good choice. Restaurant was delicious. Beds were extremely comfortable.

Review 122:We would have liked to drink in the bar/restaurant as the piano bar was very quiet.

Review 123:The convenient location. The clean , modern rooms. Tea & coffee making facilities. Friendly staff.

Review 124:Hotel well placed, clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Definately recommend this hotel - is good value for money and we will go back.

Review 125:only on street parking available but this was not a big problem.

Review 126:Staff were exceptional, restaurant was great and the room was comfortable with modern bathroom facilities. Also tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room (the only hotel out of the 7 we stayed in during our trip to provide this)

Review 127:There was no wifi for most our stay.

Review 128:The decor and room comfort were very good. Secure parking nearby for 8 Euros per night was welcome. Breakfast choice was adequate but could have been better. Staff were uniformly charming and helpful.

Review 129:The young guy on reception was a bit offhand and lacked people skills.

Review 130:Everything was good but particularly the breakfast buffet with the charming lady in attendance.

Review 131:No information about tv channels and no bbc channel

Review 132:The brasserie is excellent.there is a good choice on the menu

Review 133:very nice modern room, good lunch

Review 134:Very friendly staff, good English, very convenient, great value.
