Reviews for Langley Hotel Gustavia
Review 1:Sometimes there was no staff at the reception so we had to wait a bit but never too long.
Review 2:Great location and the bed was really fluffy and cosy. The extra large pillow was amazing. We had the top floor which over looked the train station.
Review 3:nothing except that bathroom could be better as the water just goes everywhere when one takes shower but that won't stop me from coming here again or from recommending anyone.
Review 4:everything is good about this hotel. Especially, the young energetic staff is fantastic! very helpful and always smiling. Keep it up guys! Highly recommended.
Review 5:Our room was tiny and was directly over the bar downstairs, which is extremely noisy when the live band is playing.
Review 6:Great location, in the heart of chamonix
Review 7:The en suite was a bit cramped and the ski locker was external and had no heating, it was also a little noisy coming from outside
Review 8:Great staff, rooms were warm and comfortable and location was near to other amenities
Review 9:The room needed an update, the paint was peeling off the ceiling, the shower flooded the floor every day. The update seems to be in progress
Review 10:The location and the very friendly and helpful staff. Big sunny terrace
Review 11:The only point is a window view, but was not significant for a single-night stay :)
Review 12:Affable and helpful personnel, ready to help and advise. Very clean and comfortable room.
Review 13:Rooms are little small but that is not a big issue.
Review 14:It is close to the station, middle of the city, close to all points of action. Fantastic staff always ready to help - a real service with a smile. The restaurant is EXCELLENT.
Review 15:Facilities.. The building is quite old. And the room was dark, there was not enough lights....
Review 16:The staff are very friendly! Especially receptionist is really helpful! Even though it was late night, she was willing to fix the lamp next to our bed. I feel touched. And it was also located right next to the station!
Review 17:Not enough car parking spaces. Can't get a drink after hours. But hey, I can deal with that ?
Review 18:The staff are great, I think they know service and what works.
Review 19:The receptionists are all kind and helpful. The room is beautiful and gives us the feeling of home. The shower is warm and all the facilities are user-friendly.The location is wonderful, just opposit the Chamonix-Mont Blanc train station, and all are in working distance. We can see the mountains and snows through our room's window.
Review 20:Friendly, accommodating staff. Even though the room wasn't perfect (broken lamp, a little dark), they went out of their way to welcome us and make us comfortable. It was very reasonably priced, probably because of the time of year. View from window was stunning.
Review 21:Shower rooms didn't keep water separate so often floors were flooded.
Review 22:Staff were outstanding - rescued our friends when they got lost during a hen night and a bit worse for wear!
Review 23:I was put in the 3rd floor and the internet in the room was very poor. Try getting a room in 1st or 2nd floor. Some staff seemed to be grumpy.
Review 24:It's right next to the train station which was very helpful. Ann of course close to most places that you want to see in Chamonix. The view is just beautiful. And oh yeah! The breakfast, the best hotel breakfast that I had in my entire 30days of eurotrip. If you are staying here, opt to have the breakfast at the hotel!
Review 25:Shower area in the bathroom not closed off except by a curtain, so it got pretty wet in the bathroom.
Review 26:Location close to train station and to the main Midi lift.
Review 27:The first night I had some bites, and the second night I found a bedbug. When I told the staff about this there was no apology. This spoilt an otherwise enjoyable stay.
Review 28:Pleasant room, good location, nice breakfast.
Review 29:You shower directly on the floor. It can be noise for some people.
Review 30:The location is absoulutly great, next to the train station, near old town, close to Aiguille du Midi (10 min walk). A nice bar downstairs. The view from the windown is the best part.
Review 31:Nearby bar could be very noisy into the early hours if you kept your window open :)
Review 32:Great venue & location in central Chamonix. Lovely friendly staff
Review 33:If you want to relax, it's not a good choice: 1. Loud bar on the street 2. Near railway station 3. You want to sleep till 12 am - forget it!!!! At 9 am very loud personal start cleaning!!!! And they do everything extremly load! That will knock the door 4. High audibility. You will hear the breath in the corridor. 5. Uncomfortable mattress. 6. In summer at night it's too hot, difficult to sleep, cause you can't open the wind (loud street)
Review 34:Strong wifi connection, stylish hotel, in the center of chamonix. The girl on reception was so nice to us. They speak English!!! It's amazing, cause nobody in France, except hotels in Paris, speaks English. Great view on the montblan!
Review 35:Very difficult to find: the hotel name is written on a small pillar. Tip: ask for directions to "Chambre 9" instead. The carpet is really dirty in the entire hotel, including the room. Room overall was not top quality, with the window not closing hermetically and walls needing painting. Poorly designed shower (if you take a shower, the entire bathroom gets wet).
Review 36:Chamonix is very nice; the hotel is close to everything you want. Parking space included, internet connection ok. Bar open late at night downstairs. Staff very nice. Relatively cheap option for Chamonix.
Review 37:Some of the rooms may deserve a makeover. Other guests are in many cases too stupid to park their car appropriately to the limited parking space.
Review 38:Staff was extraordinarily polite, helpful and culturally compatible.
Review 39:There was no refrigerator and bathtub.
Review 40:- They kept my luggage in an apart space untile very late at night after I checked out. - The location. Though I didn't use a train, it was very easy to locate.
Review 41:We were in one of the room on the top floor. We loved the open window from which we could view the mountains, however the sloping ceiling cut into the shower making the shower extremely cramped.
Review 42:There was plenty of space in the beautiful room and we felt very comfortable and relaxed at the hotel. The breakfast was also very filling to prepare us for outdoor adventures!
Review 43:Didn't have a bad experience but room was up on the eaves and a not cramped, head height etc and only a sky light for a window
Review 44:Liked the traditional style of the hotel and it's location
Review 45:- booking.com reservation was not registered - poor wifi in the room - credit card connection didn't work so we were asked to pay cash - old and stained carpet on all floors and room
Review 46:-free parking nearby -well located in the town centre -booking.com reservation was not registered but staff was able to solve the problem and we had the rooms at the reserved price
Review 47:There is no tea-making facility in the room. What a pity.
Review 48:The room has a great mountain view. It is more quiet than the previous reserved room.Thank you very much, the helpful staff.
Review 49:This is a no frills hotel. Great value. Stayed here before starting the Haute Route.
Review 50:Extremely helpful staff, excellent breakfast with great variety, location is central .
Review 51:No traveler's refrigerator, no table next to the bed, one light was out, shower was extremely small. Staff not friendly at desk.
Review 52:great location, great breakfast!
Review 53:Loved the fact so close to station. Very central. Has own proper bar , old hotel with lots of character but also very comfortable with everything you need. Friendly staff and amazin biew from room
Review 54:Dining room did not have a great appeal. As such I always ate out.
Review 55:Hospitality and very welcoming staff. Room was quite spacious and very clean. Also with a great view of the Alps
Review 56:There are BED BUGS in this hotel which I have felt after a day when I came back home. I have now bites everywhere and I am washing everything I had with me. This is absolutely unacceptable nowadays and I am extremely dissapointed!
Review 57:Hotel staff was indeed very nice and helpful
Review 58:Friendly Staff. They gave us another room at the other side of the hotel after complaining of noise coming from bar across the street. Breakfast very good value for money. Free parking.
Review 59:The bar rocks Friday and Saturday- live music and a crowd that sings along. Great if you want the nightlife but not at all if you're looking for a good nights sleep!
Review 60:Bed were less than comfortable. Hallways, carpet, tiles were worn and stained. Needs to be updated.
Review 61:Can't beat the location directly across from the train station.
Review 62:The shower room very unpractical - when taking a shower, the entire bathroom will be wet, including a part of the room if you don't close very well the door. At least the towels were brand new and nice, and the bathroom well cleaned :) Decoration very old, like 20 years ago standards...
Review 63:Staff very friendly, proffessional and helpful. Breakfast very good for its price, nice breakfast room. Location very good, 1 min from the center and just in front of the charming little train station (where you can take the Montblanc Express for free to visit the entire Chamonix valley). Lift in the building.
Review 64:- staff is freindly but do not really care; - internet pics of rooms are much nicer than reality; - very dark breakfast room, same as all; - mostly small rooms and bathrooms; - ski room is ridiculous; - beds are very soft; - price should be nearer to a youth hostel, as you feel like to be in one;
Review 65:- good WLAN; - opposite of train station & very central; - breakfast is ok, but quality could be better; - bar chambre 9 is cool but loud, after 11pm mostly survivable
Review 66:Right next to the hotel is a bar, holding party for skiers from 5-7pm. After that still few people drink and speak loud. Maybe noisy if you live in 1st or 2nd floor. Some staff at reception is not as helpful as those I usually meet. But info center is not too far. The hotel blackout on the 1st night. Don't know it was occasional or it happens often.
Review 67:Great location. Walk out from the train station Chamonix Mont-Blanc and turn left, walk for 20 meters and the hotel is across the street! Friendly to skiers.
Review 68:Noise from the bar can be heard up the stairs - get a room at the end of the corridor or on the third floor and it won't bother you.
Review 69:Excellent friendly and helpful staff Rooms clean, tidy and warm Kids were welcomed and well looked after Great location in the centre of Chamonix Chambre Neuf - great bar!
Review 70:Nada.
Review 71:Everything, great location on the corner of everything that matters in town, grest and friendly staff, incredible breakfast, fast internet, amazing shower. During the day we have family programs to do near the hotel, and during the night (until 1 am) we have great music on the bar above, with beers and some fun to the youngers. Simply the best on town for a good faire.
Review 72:The bar was very noisy & music went on quite late. I feel more could be done to sound proof the room better so that the music would not be so intrusive.
Review 73:The room & facilities were very good. The breakfast was ok.
Review 74:Room size and bed slightly small, overheated, had to sleep with the window slightly open. But then you wouldn't want a cold room, so it isn't a complain really...
Review 75:Location of the hotel was excelent but hei, Chamonix is a small place anyway and easy to move around. Very clean hotel with very helpful staff. Free wireless internet. Excelent de-al for your money too. Would happily go again.
Review 76:Balcony full of cigarette butts Bar inside the building with people drinking outside, making sleeping just impossible. Noisy just like hell.
Review 77:Nice staff Nice location
Review 78:The bar staff are arrogant and are more interested in having fun themselves rather than serving their customers - this is the first year we found this and is a shame as the bar has always been great
Review 79:The room was big and very clean and bed cozy, the location is the best right in the centre of town. The bar is the best in Chamo with a great apre ski band . The staff are always very helpful
Review 80:A bit noisy as the hotel also has a bar which attracts many...
Review 81:Great location in the centre of Chamonix, with easy access to the ski slopes, shops and restaurants
Review 82:Noise from bar though i didnt mind. As iwas in the last floor so not too bad Pillows or bed could be more comfortable but this is minor Old decor & carpet Car park was not de iced so exit was tricky
Review 83:Old school lift! Shower with hot water and good pressure Bar was cool, barmen friendly The piano Location and car park Hugo was very friendly and gave us late check out for free
Review 84:On checkin staff were more interested on the live music in the bar than providing information on the hotel and chamonix. I can deal with a basic room, but the smell from the bathroom drain was unbearable at times. All rooms are very noisy whether it be bar noise or other guests or the noise from the street. Definatley not a comfortable room but depends what you are after. No safes in the rooms either.
Review 85:The location
Review 86:Breakfast was quite poor cold bacon eggs tables still had crumbs on and for 12 euros I consider to be below average.
Review 87:Hotels position warm room comfortable beds very polite staff handy for bars and restaurants.
Review 88:The shower water would just go all over the bathroom but this won't restrict me from booking the hotel again as for me this really is not a big deal considering other plus points.
Review 89:Staff is very cordial and helping. I haven't come across such a wonderful staff ever where ever I visited so far.
Review 90:Twin beds joined with gap down middle. We asked for a double!Noisy pub across the road. Very off-putting Long wait for toilet paper of which we had run out. Girl we asked originally obviously forgot and went home, so had to ask twice. Anna attended to the problem immediately. Paying 9 euros for a glass of champagne that held no more than four mouthfuls!
Review 91:Location was excellent. Anna at the front desk was exceptional re her people skills and multi tasking ability. Room location with views over mountains was excellent.
Review 92:The location and value of this hotel is perfect for those who have been to Chamonix and just need to get on with what they need to do. I came for a conference but not hesitate to use it for a bookend hotel for climbing/trekking/stop for the TMB trips
Review 93:The light is a little weak, in the rooms and at breakfast.
Review 94:It's a very nice place, the hotel has an excellent position, the hosts work very well, are very kind!
Review 95:shabby paintwork in corridors the single bed in a triple was only a fold-up bed which was not comfortable for an adult. noise from nearby eateries carries up to the room.
Review 96:breakfast was very good convenient location good large bathroom reception staff helpful
Review 97:staff we some welcoming friend both Night we were there.was reccomended by a friend an das i stay in Cham alot this is now my best.lovely People Running The Hotel,Great Choice of breaks, Great Rooms with plenty of Space Thank you.
Review 98:The smokers outside whose smoke eventually rose so that I had to close the French doors!
Review 99:Location is everything with views over the glaciers and peaks and I asked for a balcony and got just that, plus the views. Cosy room with comfortable bed and genuinely friendly staff. Will definitely come again!
Review 100:Car park tight to get in and waiter at breakfast when I politely pointed out there was no ham left curtly said 'I only have one pair of hands sir' which I thought was not the best of customer service!
Review 101:Great location. Genuine traditional French hotel oozing with atmosphere and old fashioned charm. Refreshing change from modern plastic alternatives. Just love Chamonix generally though. Go for a balcony room facing station. Side ones will be noisy fron bar opposite.
Review 102:Elevator Small entrance for car parking No Wifi in rooms and terrible in common areas Street facing, noisy room
Review 103:Free parking Excellent location Clean room Comfortable bed
Review 104:Wifi can only be used in the region of reception. No minibar.
Review 105:I loved my room. Windows opened out to Mont Blanc and my bathroom was so spacious with a bath tub that was perfect for after mountaineering. The staff was extremely helpful allowing me to store my luggage safely when away. Safe facilities. The building was old and beautiful next to the station and down town; without being noisy.
Review 106:At 10 euros per person in addition to the room price we thought it alittle expensive, but the Chamonix region is pricey. Wifi not that greaton upper floors.
Review 107:Very friendly and welcoming staff, location right near the train stationwhich is central to everything Chamonix has to offer. Excellent buffetbreakfast. Very comfortable and clean rooms.
Review 108:Terrible wifi!! C'mon it's 2014!! The room I was given for my 2nd stay (103) is a shocker....no storage or cupboard to hang anything, tiny poky room with road noise. Design and functionality of the bathroom is appalling. TV....not a biggie for me, but reception was / is very average. The guy working the desk in morning (Black hair and beard) needs customer service training immediately...he is in the wrong industry.
Review 109:The location is very good, nice and central. Breakfast buffet is great! On my first stay here, the room was well appointed and spacious with loads of storage space. Girls working the front desk on reception are welcoming and friendly.
Review 110:I know it's really nothing to some people but in this day people expect & need internet. I'd rather be told there is no wifi than dealing with their excuse for wifi. Buy a new router. Or in my opinion... Stop the restriction. Was told there was no wifi on the 4th floor but it was perfect at about 6.30am then just drops out constantly. Absolutely painful & unnecessary in with today's equipment.
Review 111:Great location Restaurant was reasonably priced Great lounge area AWESOME VIEW heated towels Comfiest bed & huge room & bathroom. Very clean
Review 112:Needed earplugs - the weekend activity level surrounding the hotel went on until 3 or so in the morning and it was worse than any place I have ever stayed. We also ate at their barbeque - the salad bar food was great; the meat was incredibly overcooked and dry. (I think it was leftover from the previous night when business was slow due to rain)
Review 113:Proximity to the bus terminal and close enough to the mail parts of the town. The staff was tremendously helpful, and tried to find us rooms that would not be noisy (no luck).
Review 114:I liked the location - it is right on the edge of the busy part of town. an easy walk to everything, without being in the middle of it. The hotel facilities are simple, and not modern, yet still comfortable. It was perfect for us. I booked only the day before we stayed visited, and we were put on the top floor, which is quiet, but has low, sloped ceilings. I imagine the lower floors have more spacious rooms, but I didn't actually see them.
Review 115:With the windows open the noise from the bar nearby was quite loud well into the early hours of the morning. Most front rooms though would not have an issue.
Review 116:Great location especially with buses and train so close by. Easy walk to most things. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice historic building.
Review 117:Noisy due to bar/restaurant/lobby area + bar across the way. Room impractical - no wardrobe, nowhere to put luggage out of the way. Shower had no base so water went everywhere.
Review 118:Comfy bed. Lovely small balcony. Across from train station. Good location for all Chamonix has to offer. English TV channels
Review 119:It would be good if had wi-fi access in the rooms.
Review 120:Location, cost-benefits. The best bed I have ever slept!! Very good bar in the hotel. Very well located.
Review 121:wi fi not available in all rooms.
Review 122:breakfast is a must at 10 euros. Absolute no brainer. Very friendly staff. Good off road parking. Excellent location. Great bar attached to hotel.
Review 123:Wifi overloaded at peak times
Review 124:Great location next to the train station and hire car offices, good breakfast for the price compared with many other hotels in a month of travel in France.
Review 125:Next to popular bar so in some rooms it might be noisy at evenings
Review 126:Good location Nice atmosphere Nice rooms (but if possible do not reserve last (4th) floor which is not so good) Nice Scandinavian staff
Review 127:Noisy from bar/restaurant/lobby downstairs. Room small & impractical. No wardrobe or anywhere to put your suitcase. Shower doesn't have a base so water goes everywhere. Luggage 'storage' is just an unmonitored, insecure open space next to reception desk.
Review 128:My room had a lovely small balcony. Comfy bed. English TV channels. Central location, close to everything. Right across from the train station.
Review 129:One night it was a little noisy downstairs, minor issue
Review 130:Good location opposite the train station, staff were excellent, helpful and friendly, comfortable bed, good bathroom, room with a view, breakfast was excellent, and Chamonix is a really nice town in a beautiful part of the world.
Review 131:No facility for ski boots in ski room
Review 132:Comfortable spacious rooms, central location, lively bar downstairs
Review 133:Shower area and curtain system Needs to be upgraded.
Review 134:Location, good room and breakfasts were excellent. Great and helpful front desk staff.
Review 135:Noisy. Very slow internet, very limited parking. Basic for the price.
Review 136:Friendly helpful staff. Great location.
Review 137:Great staff throughout - very friendly and helpful when needed!
Review 138:Bathroom was horrible and bedroom was too small. Hotel needs updating !
Review 139:Staff was helpful.
Review 140:Was a bit noisy in the evenings with live music/karaoke in the bar downstairs.
Review 141:The staff were very friendly and helpful!
