Reviews for Benvengudo
Review 1:We arrived at 14h40 butapparently we could only check in at 15h00. No problem we decided to have drink on the lovely terrace. The eoom was only ready at 15h25. The beautiful appartment lacked simple things like a hairdryer or wineglasses. There is also zero view despite the beautiful location. The downer was breakfast: they told us 8h30 till 10h30. We arrived at 10h15 (on a Sunday) and there were zero viennoiserie left, zero baguette and a little left over bread. 10h25 they started putting stuff away like jams. The milk was turned (but replaced when we mentioned it). When we asked for eggs they made it sound like they were doing us a big favour, same for croissants. At 10h40 a woman came and told us that exceptionally-this being Sunday morning- we could stay longer and they would bake extra croissants. There were 6 people in the room left.. The appartment is 420 euro a night and breakfast is an extra 18 euro. When checking out, they offered a very generous 9 euro half price for the teenager of 14. Don't know, didn't think we asked for anything unusual at this rate.
Review 2:Location is lovely and the big appartment is really huge.
Review 3:Sadly we arrived in rain and had to take the suitcases up one level on outdoor steps
Review 4:The room on the second floor had a wonderful view of the gardens and the main building with restaurant was so very welcoming. Only had one day and would have liked to stay longer
Review 5:Fantastic! Superb ultra modern room-just perfect. Spotlessly clean, beautiful decor and the comfiest bed ever.Patio onto amazing garden. Cuisine to die for-the lamb smoked on thyme will remain in my mind for years, and the parmesan and potato infusion that went with it utterly sensational. There was so much more. Pricey OK but there can be few better places
Review 6:2nd time I have stayed here, and complained last time about the service at the poolside. They do not seem to have made any headway with this, it's still poor. You need to relax by the pool, not keep searching for someone to get you a drink.
Review 7:Very pleasant Hotel, fabulous surroundings both inside and outside the confines of the Hotel
Review 8:The shower was weak and the temperature varied. Everything else was excellent.
Review 9:This hotel was fabulous. The setting was beautiful with a large open garden and pool. The staff were very very helpful and courteous. We arrived late and they organised a late dinner on our arrival. I wished we could have stayed longer.
Review 10:Delightful setting. Exquisite food and immaculate accommodation Only regret - our reservation was just for two nights. Would have no hesitation in returning to Benvengudo.
Review 11:I was very disappointed that after having spent over 800 euro for 2 nights I had to pay 2 euro per coffee pad, only 2 coffee pads per day was free of charge, not very friendly.
Review 12:The hotel was very well presented, very friendly staff and good restarant.
Review 13:Rooms need better lighting...for reading in bed or in a chair. Should be 2 chairs, not one. Need a shower...just put a 1/2 glass door and higher shower holder.
Review 14:All of the above!
Review 15:For this one, you'd better drive your own car. It's not that in middle of anything, unless your key target is to see the ruin nearby.
Review 16:It was probably the hardest choice for us to stay in this hotel for our whole trip. Since the location is really out of the common lines for first time South France visitors. But it's really the best choice we'd ever made for this trip. It's an elegant mid-aged housing, with only 5 suites, fully redecorated with modern feeling but perfect old elements. We were luckily updated to the most luxury suite they got, and was really sweet. The staffs are kind and helpful, gave us full direction on all amenities. A perfect place for a stay and rest only vacation.
Review 17:Shower water in Room 15 runs onto bathroom floor. No mini bar/water etc in this room, though available in some rooms. Coffee & water for tea at breakfast was not hot. General comment: best to take car if dining out nearby, busy main road with no pavement for pedestrians.
Review 18:Lovely grounds, comfortable public rooms, large bedrooms, some refurbished. Staff are very helpful, cheerful and welcoming. Dinner very good.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:This was our favourite stay on our 10 day tour of the French countryside. Lovely accommodations, welcoming staff, AMAZING restaurant, fun pool, and beautiful grounds. Worth every penny : ) enjoy!!
Review 21:They could improve the wifi connection
Review 22:Everything was perfect. Great spot to discover the region and unwind at the same time. The restaurant is absolutely a must!
Review 23:A bit pretentious. The food was very expensive for the quality we got; my fish was much too salty. The waiter did not even serve us the wine and moved his arm across the table to pick up my dish at the end of the meal instead of picking it up from my right side
Review 24:The location, near Les Baux de Provence.
Review 25:Everything you hoped Provence would be. Beautifully renovated hotel, on lovely grounds. Excellent room, lovely décor. Amazing bed.
Review 26:Breakfast was average and over priced. Accommodation was average.
Review 27:Excellent dinner
Review 28:Peaceful grounds, private balcony, excellent food and service
Review 29:The AC wasn't very good
Review 30:the location, all of the above
Review 31:The wine was overpriced
Review 32:The food was delicious, the staff very professional and the setting very beautiful. Will definitely go back
Review 33:Photos of refurbished rooms are accurate - the rooms are lovely and clean! Food was excellent and the gardens were delightful.
Review 34:The staff are very helpful, however the only negative is that there are simply not enough of them. Overall, though, we had a very good experience.
Review 35:Spacious room, beautiful landscape, nice breakfast by the pool, we enjoyed staying there.
Review 36:Fabulous setting, friendly staff and superb food and wine.
Review 37:Lavender-lined entrance road. Lovely garden. Charming, comfortable room. Excellent dinner on terrace.
Review 38:Moscitos and flies. The road is quite close to the hotel, you can here it. Too soft bad.
Review 39:Well trained staff, clean room, fantastic territory
Review 40:In door dining was stuffy / too formal.
Review 41:Room was great / bathroom too
Review 42:Beautifully situated and exactly what I was looking for: elegant and in close proximity to historic sites and other luxe properties and restaurants.
Review 43:Love the location! Charming hotel.
Review 44:good
Review 45:shower
Review 46:fabulous chef and terrace. gardens are great, quiet retreat room and decorations are stylish
Review 47:Location and grounds were stunning and lovely pool area.
Review 48:Nothing more than a country house transformed into Hotel.
Review 49:It is not a quiet place. Very close to the road
Review 50:Wonderful staff; great location; loved the pool! Big enough to swim laps in!
Review 51:Very little to dislike, although would have expected some mineral water in the bedroom, from a hotel of this quality.
Review 52:We stayed in the last days of the Season, before the hotel closed, so were virtually the only visitors: it was wonderful to enjoy the beautiful park, and the exceptionally well designedVery littlebedrooms/bathrooms as if in a private villa!
Review 53:No wifi in several rooms: had to sit in the lounge after everyone else left and then I locked up when I finished and went back to my room....
Review 54:Very gracious and helpful staff, were understanding in an appropriate room for my older parents-
Review 55:Our queen bed was really two singles put together and not that comfortable.
Review 56:Outstanding service. Great location close to village of Les Baux de Provence. Excellent restaurant. Beautiful pool and grounds.
Review 57:Room had few amenities -no facilities for drinks, few toiletries, small towels - not good for the price and compared with other hotels of lower price.
Review 58:Food was excellent - service superb.
Review 59:Very nice hotel for travelling by car. There are no negative features. Not very big. Not pretentious. Close to the magnificent medieval castle.
Review 60:Stunning property, well-kept, charming room. Restaurant a cut above the usual with fabulous food served br gracious staff. Sparkling pool. A delightful, unexpected treat on our drive through Provence. Also feast proximity to charming village of st remy de Provence & the must-visit Les Chateau des Baux
Review 61:Difficult to fault. Unless one enjoys looking to complain
Review 62:Architecture,ambience, peace and tranquility. Typical french mas stylewhich we find therapeutic.staff made every effort to please
Review 63:Benvengudo is a beautiful small hotel, inn at the foot of Les Baux. A long-standing business of 45+ years, it has an understated but refined flavor with herb gardens, lovely grounds, and terraced entry. The rooms (the one we occupied) open to the garden and terrace and are simple but beautiful. The restaurant was closed when we stayed as it was the final weekend of their season; they are closed form the beginnig of Novto March. I would recommend this, certainly we will stay there if our tarvels take us back to Les Baux again.
Review 64:Food was pretty good, but don't remember much of a menu selection.
Review 65:Nice room with lovely outdoor patio. Great location just under Les Beuxde Provence. Unforgettable setting in the Provence countryside. Nicepool area.
Review 66:The noise at the pool and in the restaurant from big families with children was deafening at times. Joyful, happy noises from kids having fun in the pool are expected, but the amount of screaming and crying was really disturbing. Also, from parents shouting out to their children. Not the hotels fault, but if you fancy a more tranquil stay this hotel would not be for you. Very little customer service. No help with the luggage. Ordering a cup of coffee in the lounge was a big hassle and when we asked the young dark haired lady at the desk for a lunch suggestion, she shrugged her shoulders and said the hotel was 'free style', meaning that you are on your own. When you stay at a hotel with these prices and you are 5000 miles away from home and don't speak the language well, it is nice to have a little guidance. Luckily, when we passed by the desk a little later, the manager, a tall thin man, was there and was delighted to make a restaurant suggestion and arrangements. We ended up at ' le patio' in Fontvieille and had a superior dining experience.
Review 67:The location is good, although you can hear the street noise while dining or by the pool. It's a shame they can't provide wifi in the rooms. The system they have seems antiquated with service timing out after four hours? The bath products were nice, but incredibly limited. One tiniest bar of soap and a little bit of shower gel. Given that there doesn't seem to be a shortage of soap, or body lotion for that matter, that is locally produced, they could easily do better. The rooms are clean and simple, devoid of comfort or decoration, but nicely sized.
Review 68:The only thing that was a little disappointing was the shower over the bath with nowhere ot suspend it so that you could not shower standing up.
Review 69:A stunning setting, fab food, particulally the jams at breakfast. The room was also very comfortable.
Review 70:Breakfast is expensive at 16 euros each for a very basic buffet. It seems strange that they can produce an excellent 3 course meal ( plus amuse bouche) for 45 euros yet charge 16 for basic croissants, pastries and limited choice of ham/cheese.
Review 71:We spent 2 nights at the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable (it was a last minute booking and we had the only room available - a standard room overlooking the garden ). The grounds are well maintained and the pool area is very clean. We enjoyed our evening meals on both nights. Staff were very friendly. We would use the hotel agin if we were in the area.
Review 72:Beautiful, very clean, comfortable hotel on beautifully landscaped grounds. 2 mins. from the charming village of Les Baux de Provence. Highly recommended!
Review 73:We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed every single minute of it. Especially the staff was extremely friendly and did everything to help us and make our stay as comfortable as possible. We would recommend this hotel to everyone we know. it's location is perfect to visit different villages in the region such as les beaux - saint remy - arles - ...
Review 74:The breakfast was a little disappointing.
Review 75:very tranquil, peaceful location in the Provence countryside but not too isolated, also close to stunning Les Baux hillside village. Very warm and welcoming staff. Accommodation and pool, gardens, very clean and well maintained. Good variety of accommodation available. Excellent local cuisine served each evening in the hotel restaurant.
Review 76:There was an unpleasant smell in the room, which was not as nice as on the photos in Internet. The price seems too high for the offering.
Review 77:The hotel is located in a wonderful garden and provides free private parking. It is about 5 minutes drive or 30 minutes walk to Les Baux-de-Provence on a road. The room had a nice balcony with a view of the garden. The staff was excellent.
Review 78:Staff welcome their guests by saying " what do you want" If we did notbook this hotel before and we arrived not that late, we would rather notstay at this hotel. We are so sorry that we booked this hotel. Very badattitude to the Asian tourismt
Review 79:The hotel was rather soulless. No carpets on the upstairs corridor meant that all sounds echoed and it was very noisy. Bathroom compimentaries were kept to a bare minimum - just a bodywash and a packet of tissues - not even hand soap. Breakfast was adequate but not generous eg. no fresh fruit salad offered. The breakfast area was very cold so we would eat breakfast very quickly and leave. The dining room consisted of just tables and chairs - no decoration on the walls and very bare.
Review 80:Beautiful location
Review 81:Outdated hallway and bathroom, no reception desk personnel upon arrival, noisy traffic nearby
Review 82:Nice settings & public areas
