Reviews for La Bastide du Paradou

Review 1:Wifi was not welfunctioning; you should often go outside your romme to catch the signal.

Review 2:Very nice small hotel. Silent place and in a pleasant walking distance from town centre. The room was of high standard (nice bathroom and wellequipped rooms with good space). Breakfast was very nice - although som expensive. Highly reccomandable.

Review 3:The owner is a charming man who provided us with anecdotes and information. The helpers from Brazil and Portugal were kind, generous, and warm. The breakfast in the beautiful garden was fabulous; the room was large, the air conditioning worked, and the bathroom was modern and beautifully furnished. We would come back in a minute if Moustiers Ste. Marie were not so far from the A6 Autoroute!

Review 4:Visted Moustiers in 2000 and came back again in August 2015. The town has become a magnet for tourists and quite simple to understand as it's a wonderfully dreamy place. Stunning property with beautiful rooms, made up in a classic French style.

Review 5:Fabulous breakfast sitting in the garden. Comfortable bed and wonderful views from our room (Mars). Friendly staff with great recommendations on places to eat and visit locally.

Review 6:Lamp not working and shade broken. Bath plug not working. Wifi partly failing. Therefor high prize level.

Review 7:Lovely historic building and beautiful scenery.

Review 8:Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast was limited and used previous days croissants. Claimed free wifi in the bedrooms but could not connect - frequently saw others hovering at top of stairs to get a signal.

Review 9:Owner was very helpful. Room was very spacious and clean. Nice garden setting.

Review 10:Bed with an iron fence at the end when 6 feet 6. My wife had to hold the douche equipment so I could take a shower in standing position.

Review 11:Perfect breakfast ! Spacy bedroom. The french Basil F.

Review 12:Strange blanket (no cotton case to cover a blanket) ;-)

Review 13:Very nice stuff. Quiet place. This place is very good for 1-night stay. Longer stay is not needed because village is very small. Very good breakfast - highly recomended (but expensive - 15 EUR per person).

Review 14:There was no elevator so the climb on spiral stairs was a small challenge, but it was a small issue for a great spot.

Review 15:Check in was easy and the hotel manager recommended an excellent dinner spot and made a reservation for us also. The hotel is very quiet nestled at the bottom of a mountainside town. We had AC and good wifi which were both amenities that we appreciated.

Review 16:Couple of hairs in the bath and on the floor. Tiled floor made our feet quite dirty if we weren't wearing shoes. Didn't try breakfast as it was €15 extra per person.

Review 17:Welcoming owner, lovely bedrooms (had a look at others too). Comfortable bed, mini bar, good sized bath, air conditioning and a short walk from the centre of the village (up hill).

Review 18:When I asked the time of check out, I was told that I could check out whenever I wanted. The hotel wasn't fun so the owner let us take our time. A little touch that left a lasting memory.

Review 19:The room price and additional breakfast cost seemed a bit high for the late season (late September) and simple but lovely room. Would suggest staying there during summer months when visitors could enjoy the yard and village flowers.

Review 20:Very welcoming and personable host greeted us and helped us on our way!

Review 21:Being a one man operation, there was no one there when we arrived, but the village was close to visit and take refreshment.

Review 22:Room was spacious and clean, with all that you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast in the garden was plentiful and delivered to the table. Close to the village, all be it is a walk up a steep hill.

Review 23:Absolutely nothing. Maybe supply tissues in the bathrooms.

Review 24:We loved the 16th century stone country home with its large rooms, stayed on the second floor in the Saturne room. The garden is a sheer delight with tables, chairs umbrellas overlooking the countryside under the shade of the fig trees. Breakfast was plentiful, croissants, meats, cheese, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice. Beds great, bathrooms spacious and super clean. Wifi strong. Host was fabulous and so amenable, had access to his private pool. Only 3 minute walk to the village. Would stay here time and time again.

Review 25:Room was gorgeous. Quite traditional with every comfort. Wonderful breakfast eaten in pretty garden. Could not ask for anything better. Would recommend to friends and v happily repeat visit

Review 26:the cost of the breakfast is extortionate! there are wonderful bakeries in town where 2 people can get a breakfast for less than €10, while the cost at the hotel would be €30. the staff didn't make us feel welcome, completely in contrast with all the other places visited in france.

Review 27:Too basic hotelroom for the amount charged. It is rather a 2,5* hotel.

Review 28:Location 2min walking from very very nice village breakfast was super Boss very nice man

Review 29:-Needs one more sign before the first roundabout when arriving from south east, we had problems finding the hotel at first -Wi-Fi was quite unstable -Expensive breakfast, we ended up buying breakfast in the village

Review 30:-Charming hotel with rooms that were all unique -Large room -Well maintained facilities (AC, bathroom etc.) -Nice location, close to the town but still very calm and quiet

Review 31:The spiral staircase was a safety hazard and dangerous when trying to get luggage up and down. No lift. Needed to drive to get to local restaurants. Overpriced , not really a three star hotel. Not suitable for older guests

Review 32:Clean rooms, quiet at night.

Review 33:Tranquility, large clean rooms, excellent bed and good heating. very near center of Moustiers.

Review 34:the shower

Review 35:Jean-Louis the proprietor, the large rooms, great parking, great breakfast

Review 36:Could only get Wifi on the stairs.

Review 37:Lovely large room, large bed, typical Provençal décor. Clean. Excellent breakfast although expensive.

Review 38:No cards accepted

Review 39:steep narrow stairs up to room

Review 40:lovely big room with a rural view friendly owner fantastic peaceful location but easy 5 min walk uphill to town

Review 41:Grate breakfast, easy walk to Moustiers Sainte Marie.

Review 42:Totally authentic Provence Bastide, great character with large luxurious rooms. Excellent service, breakfast and superb location.

Review 43:Convenient location. Comfortable setting. Very friendly staff.

Review 44:Owner was extremely friendly and helpful. We loved the quaintness of the building, the stunning location and the breakfast

Review 45:Fantastic breakfast

Review 46:Jean Louis and the extension cord for charging lap tops etc

Review 47:Very spacious rooms, tranquil garden. Great breakfast, but for an extra charge.

Review 48:Prices at bar a bit of a rip off

Review 49:Clean, fair-sized rooms Location in relation to village (if you don't mind a bit of a climb!)

Review 50:Wi-fi did not work Very expensive for small 3 star hotel

Review 51:Location Breakfast Host spoke English

Review 52:Bathroom loose tap in basin bath plug not working

Review 53:Garden and breakfast

Review 54:amazing location, friendly owner, beautiful setting!

Review 55:Convenient location Beautiful, old building

Review 56:no elevator

Review 57:location

Review 58:No internet

Review 59:Very special owner. Very helping. beautiful place spacious rooms clean comfortable nice garden highly recommanded

Review 60:very basic, overpriced, no internet.

Review 61:Uphill walk to city centre, but only 5 min

Review 62:Beautiful gardens, best breakfast, easy access to city centre. Very helpful host from restaurants to routes to drive in area.

Review 63:Couldn't connect to the Wifi for anything.

Review 64:This is a very cute place just a few minutes walk from Moustiers. Our room was lovely, the shower was very powerful and hot. And it was super quiet - except for the thunderstorm that raged all night long. The breakfast was very filling, with lots of choice. The owner is a lovely, quirky person. As we arrived sopping wet (having ridden a motorbike in the driving rain the entire afternoon), he let us put our wet things in the laundry room, so the heat of the driers would dry everything (which it did).

Review 65:staff not so friendly, but service ok.

Review 66:located a 5 minute walk from the center of town and for exploring the surrounding towns and Gorges. Beautiful and quiet, with garden area for breakfast. Large, comfortable bed. Owner very kind and friendly, gave us information where to eat (La Cantine - fabulous) and self hand-drawn maps (quite good!) of Gorges du Verdon and best places to stop, see the eagles, and to hike.

Review 67:Lovely room with comfy bed, friendly & helpful owner who recommended a great place to eat. Well located for exploring the town. Great breakfast the next day.

Review 68:My wife and I enjoyed our stay at La Bastide du Paradou. The proprietor was friendly, and welcoming. We chose the room that had the most windows - for the light, and the room was quite comfortable and roomy. The breakfast of coffee, a meat, nice breads, a cheese and some jams was quite good. We are kind of spry older folks, so we had no problem with the fact that the village is high above La Bastide. The five minute climb into the center of tiny Mustiers rewarded us with stunning views of the valley in which sits La Bastide.

Review 69:La Bastide du Paradou was just delightful! Jean-Louis is warm, generous and a gentleman. He is a little on the quirky side which we loved. The house is centuries old and just lovely - he cooks a delicious breakfast in the lovely area downstairs. One of our favourite experiences and we have plans to return.

Review 70:A little hard to find initially but worth the challenge

Review 71:Quirky but good 3 star hotel. Eccentric owner who was most welcoming and helpful. Fabulous restaurant nearby in this beautiful village at the end of the stunning Gorge de Verdon.

Review 72:No wifi in some rooms. Common area was not available much of the day.

Review 73:Beautiful location and lovely facility, including peaceful courtyard. Grumpy and charming owner brought us fresh figs from his trees at breakfast.

Review 74:It did'nt bother us at all but it is steep climb up to the town so unsuitable for older people. Service is charming and laid back, so don't be in a hurry !

Review 75:Very convenient characterful and spacious accommodation. Uncluttered furnishing. The charmingly eccentric and very kind host. Reasonably priced when taking account of the location. Superb breakfast.

Review 76:it is a very beautiful hotel,we stay in France 10 days, it`s the most suprised hotel, the room is very big, garden is really beautiful, the design of every room is different. and the owner is an kindly gentleman who had given us a lot of help~~

Review 77:Everything! The owner was very helpful with sightseeing advice and restaurant recommendations, the room was huge, the location was quiet and the breakfast was lovely in the garden setting. Highly recommended

Review 78:Location was good, the breakfasts were very nice served in the garden by the proprietor. The bedroom was big and fairly comfortable if a little spartan.

Review 79:A/C did not work...internet was spotty to get online...hot water was hard to come by

Review 80:Location just below village was great if you are in shape for short steep walk to village

Review 81:The hotel is beneath the town, but the walk up to the town is very easy and scenic; gorgeous breakfast provided; very spacious room with a lovely view; comfortable bed; easy access to the delights of the town above; staff very very helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to do

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:Very friendly and helpful proprietor, with a good sense of humour. Gave us helpful guidance on walks and car tours, things we wouldn't have otherwise known about. Excellent breakfast. Moustiers is in a spectacular location, breathtaking and worth a visit.

Review 84:The room on the 2nd floor , hot water for shower took too long time that we gave up to take a shower.

Review 85:The room was charming, breakfast was nice and worth paying for it and the owner was helpful. Though some part was steep as other guests write, the walk to the village was really short (max.10 min) and make you feel in the country side and we enjoyed the view.

Review 86:Only that pretty much everything was closed but that was only due toour timing!

Review 87:I thought the hotel was lovely & charming, it was in an idyllic spot &Jon-we the owner was great, very welcoming & always there to assist withany request. It was a perfect weekend for a couple & beautifulsurroundings.

Review 88:There is nothing wrong with this place.

Review 89:The owner is fantastic, accomodating, and he makes great breakfast. We got the run of the house so to speak, could pick any room we liked, and the owner made a great suggestion for dinner. The rooms were well equipped, comfortable beds, quiet, yet within walking distance for dinner. Parking is free, and right outside. Internet worked well in common areas. We also absolutely loved Moisters. There is no question we will return here If the opportunity arises.

Review 90:Prices were fixed no matter what season you go in - this was the most expensive place we stayed, but actually the simplest.

Review 91:Located at the foot of the stunning village of Moustiers, La Bastide du Paradou is simple, rustic and beautiful place to stay. Rooms are plain but with stunning views, and the location near the village is perfect.

Review 92:A very 'individual' place. Owner very helpful. Breakfast excellent. Actually well located - once you have found it from the ring-road - tho' a steep walk up to the old town it does not take long and is almost traffic-free. You do need a torch on the way down. Highlight was having breakfast in the garden - under a fig tree - and having figs from the tree with breakfast (no air miles there!!).

Review 93:Friendly and personal service. Breakfast was fantastic homemade fresh orange marmalade and fig jam and freshly whizzed oranges. Rooms were all individual and as we arrived early we got to choose which room. Wonderful setting - what more could you ask. Would go back again and recommend to family and friends.

Review 94:We liked everything.

Review 95:Historic medieval building, very tastefully converted. Charming colorful host with good English and a sense of humor. Extremely helpful in directing us to the Gorges du Verdun and explaining how to navigate the 5 minute very steep walk up to the center of the Village Perche of Moustiers - "take 20 steps, rest! take another 20 steps, rest"...ect! Excellent advice as we are in our 70's so the 5 minute walk took about 10 minutes! Wished we could have stayed longer. It's very easy to find at the base of the village if you approach from Riez and you can park and walk.

Review 96:Really charming place (rose leaves on the bed!), nice design and good quality, wifi performs well and there are also English channels in TV. The host was a nice elderly gentleman, allowed us to keep our beer in his fridge and gave good driving tips back to Nice, much better route than the one suggested by the gps. Definitely the best hotel we stayed during our week stay in Cote d'Azur

Review 97:Hotel is In great location, only a few minutes walk to town. Very interesting building. Nice view of the valley from our room. Room was very clean and spacious with ensuite bathroom. We were sorry that we only had one night here. We stayed here to see the Gorges de Verdon and it is only 5km from the start of the most scenic route. Breakfast was great with coffee, fresh juice, several breads, creme fraiche, prosciutto, melon, and some gorgeous jams. Gentleman at front desk was very friendly and helpful. Courtyard where breakfast was served was really beautiful. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking for a hotel here.

Review 98:Nothing negative about La Bastide du Paradou. But bring a flash light; you need it when you are taking the five minutes long walk downhill from the village in the night.

Review 99:Surpricingly nice hotel with lovely, big room in nice, old farmhouse close to the beautiful village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. Topp to be served breakfast in the garden.

Review 100:For the price in a small village you would maybe expect a mini bar, hairdryer in the bathroom and breakfast ( which was €12- pp so we founda nice little cafe in the village which cost us €7- for two)

Review 101:Wonderful old bastide, renovated to a high standard. Rooms very large byFrench standards and large clean bathroom. Good size comfortable bed.Free parking adjacent and a 10 minute walk (uphill) to the centre ofthis most charming village.

Review 102:This hotel was a little difficult to find but we stopped and askeddirections and then found it. Easy parking and beautiful setting. Theroom was lovely, peaceful and relaxing. Short walk to the town ofMoustiers which is well worth the visit.Nice breakfast in beautifuloutdoor area. I would stay in this hotel again.

Review 103:Joking hotelier - provides wifi password which doesn work, offers cofee but not providing:-).

Review 104:Large comfortable room, very nice garden and excellent breakfast.

Review 105:Finding it. Even the second day we missed the turning! As unlikely as it seems turn in at the recycling bins!

Review 106:Initial instincts were that this was an odd place but it grew on us and we enjoyed our stay. The owner seemed a bit gruff when we arrived but was OK on later contacts. The room and bathroom were huge, however there were no plugs for either the bath or sink but the soap turned out to be a perfect fit! Had the figs been ripe we could have picked some from our windows. Despite the age of the property the air-conditioning unit was modern and quiet. We actually enjoyed the uphill walk into the village, my husband had knee replacement surgery 8 months ago but had no problems. It is even worth taking an evening stroll down the lane away from the village to see the wonderful light on the rocks behind Moustiers as you go back up. Breakfast seemed expensive but we found nothing in the village so just enjoyed the breakfast in the garden the second day. It was very good. Would stay here again. Good quiet location to tour the Gorges du Verdon.

Review 107:shame there was no pool, unfortunately as is typical of many places in the country -customer service and friendliness is not on their agenda.

Review 108:lovely location and room

Review 109:Beautiful location, peaceful and only a 5 mins stroll into the town. Simple but perfect room, very Provence. Owner is good fun and charming, thank you. Lovely garden, perfect for an evening drink listening to the cicadas!

Review 110:Our second visit to La Bastide du Paradou. Once again we enjoyed thelovely peaceful location, the short walk to the village of Moustiers andthe beautifully clean, originally decorated room.

Review 111:Good Hotel simple. Parking nearby. Good place for those coming to visit Verdun and Lake St. Croix. The city is wonderful. The location allows the output to visit the lavender fields in Provence!

Review 112:We loved the location, the hotel and the owner who gave us fabulousadvice for tours, meals etc. It is a cosy, lovely place with awonderful garden.

Review 113:Rooms are very basic, nothing special about them, low value for money, too expensive for what u get

Review 114:, Room looks clean, the staff was nice. Close to village nice brakefast

Review 115:Large room but not very cosy, room too dark

Review 116:Country house style, nice garden, friendly staff, parking on site
