Reviews for Najeti Hôtel de L'univers

Review 1:Location: stayed at Najeti Hotel de L'Univers en route back to UK from the Alps over new year. Easy to find and close to motorway. Nice hotel with (paid) parking, good breakfast and comfortable rooms. Not experienced Najeti chain previously - would stay again

Review 2:As with many French hotels breakfast is only average and expensive

Review 3:Excellent city centre location. Secure parking is a real bonus. Excellent dinner in very nice restaurant with great staff.

Review 4:Beautiful hotel. Lovely decor. Our room was very comfortable and immaculately clean. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Location perfect. It was quiet yet less than 10 mins walk to the main squares.

Review 5:First allocated room 101 which was nice and quiet until approx 10pm when air locks in room heating pipes made continual loud banging noises. Too loud to have slept through so at 11pm had to move to another room which was excellent.

Review 6:Central location: Traditional French hotel, not a chain variety. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Very quiet at night which made for restful sleep.

Review 7:Breakfast. Scrambled eggs horrible.. Boiled eggs on Saturday ok but on sunday it took 6 minutes to cook an undercooked egg. If you didn't,t like continental breakfast you didn't eat. In that case breakfast was really expensive. 64 euros for 4 people. Our waiter asked if somebody could cook us an omelette but the answer was no. Much better last time.

Review 8:Position

Review 9:Location was brilliant. Bar and restaurant a little understaffed as we had to wait longer than some would have liked but we were relaxed so no issue. In any case it did not detract from a good stay. Will come again!

Review 10:Room 116. Unlined Curtains-No Blind. Lights from Courtyard preventing sleep until approx. Midnight. On top of this corporate event held on our second night with music and flashing lights all penetrating the room and curtains. No other room available to move to. Manager made herself unavailable for face to face complaint preferring to stay with her prospective clients for the event rather than those actual clients who had paid to stay at this Hotel.15 years ago this was a superb hotel-very sad.

Review 11:Charming Building.

Review 12:Loudmouthed Brits in the courtyard early in the morning - not in keeping with such a tranquil setting.

Review 13:Central location - perfect for walking and train travel.

Review 14:Bed was not great for someone with a bad back. Rooms are not very sound proof. We did ask for a quiet room and this seemed to be taken care of as the rooms looking into the courtyard have noise from guests cars and restaurant on site.

Review 15:Location - just a short walk to all shops and restaurants and public squares

Review 16:We thought the price of the breakfast was way too high, which is why we didn't have breakfast at the hotel.

Review 17:Ideal location for our purposes, and the secure parking was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The evening meal we had was delicious.

Review 18:Noisy footsteps in the hall due to age of building. No air conditioning or mini-bar in room. Very average breakfast. In need of redecoration.

Review 19:Bed was comfortable. Hotel is near centre of town and ideal for walking around beautiful Arras. Off main road in quiet area.

Review 20:No advance warning that I could see of need to book parking (a major hassle); bar not open early evening or later for a nightcap

Review 21:Good location and quality room

Review 22:Our rooms weren't easily accessible, 1st floor lift then a long corridor and up a tight flight of stairs, difficult with luggage.

Review 23:Good location with secure parking if booked in advance, we weren't aware that car park could be booked as when booking this wasn't an option, but sorted out upon arrival. Very nice setting around attractive courtyard.

Review 24:We arrived in Arras to find a "manifestation" taking place which blocked vehicle access to the whole town centre and the hotel. After 45 minutes trying to get through we spoke to a policeman who said it would be impossible until late evening. We parked & walked 500m. What we should have done, & did later, was follow the French example & ignore the 'No Entry' signs.

Review 25:Comfortable room and excellent dinner.

Review 26:The bar area is not that warm and inviting and often not manned. No matter we go out to the square(s) to eat and drink and do not use bar.

Review 27:Beautiful hotel and friendly helpful staff.

Review 28:Parking facilities were inadequate for the number of guests with cars. This was not a serious problem as the town has plenty of public parking.

Review 29:A nice friendly and unpretentious hotel, ideal for our purposes.

Review 30:Room was very cramped, and furniture seemed to have been shoehorned in.

Review 31:The location was very good, restaurant was good and a recent change of ownership might be creating improvements

Review 32:Price of the additional charge for breakfast hence did not eat there. Noise/loud music until 4am! on the Saturday night due to a wedding. Modest reduction in room rate provided for inconvenience

Review 33:Location Room Staff Parking

Review 34:Tired looking decore in bedroom disappointing as this was a deluxe room. Room smelt very stale Cord for kettle not long enough from table to plug point very dangerous. Broken windows, unable to open one of the windows Some staff members very miserable

Review 35:Bathroom was clean Bed very comfortable

Review 36:I had telephoned previously to book car parking but it wasn't available immediately. This caused a minor problem for my husband who has some mobility problems.

Review 37:Helpful staff. A good restaurant and a comfortable bed

Review 38:Not a real criticism, but the hotel is currently being repainted externally which detracts from the character and also takes out about 7 parking spaces in the courtyard. We went in to dinner at 7pm as booked and the staff seemed to be concentrating more on clearing and cleaning the dining-room and bar area than attending to customers. The same happened at breakfast time. That said, the evening staff were polite and friendly.

Review 39:The town-centre location, although difficult to get to without sat-nav, was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Review 40:Room had a leaking pipe, and we had to change rooms. Waiter service in the restaurant is slow, and the bar service is even slower due to lack of staff.

Review 41:Comfortable rooms with helpful staff and good facilities. Very central for walking around central Arras with its magnificent squares.

Review 42:Décor of public rooms perhaps not to everyone's taste - but good not just to have bland neutrality.

Review 43:Comfortable room. Spacious public areas. Excellent breakfast. A well modernised hotel but retaining much traditional character. Courtyard parking.

Review 44:All soft furnishings quite tired. Towels very worn and old. Pillows smelt very beddy! Wine quite over priced in restaurant.

Review 45:Location very good. Good to have restaurant on premises.

Review 46:The location was fantastic with local shops, restaurants, museums and the Christmas markets a short walk away. Hotel restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food was fab.

Review 47:The bar is always quiet which we put down to the cost of drinks - €10 for Irish coffee - but they are good.

Review 48:This is our first choice hotel in Arras where we have stayed many times. A perfect location for the city centre and easily accessible from the A26 and A1. Friendly staff, good private secure car parking and free wifi.

Review 49:We had to get our own tea and coffee at breakfast which was bit unusual.

Review 50:All the hotel staff we encountered could not have been more helpful and pleasent. The location is excellent and the hotel is quiet at night. The restaurant food was good quality and good value. Would definitely recommend.

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:Service, parking convenience, restaurant menu and food quality. In summary the hotel "exceeded the expectation" on all points for us. It was the perfect location.

Review 53:Breakfast is expensive at 16euros

Review 54:Staff were very helpful The hotel is close to shops and restaurants in the centre of town but quiet as it is in its own courtyard

Review 55:Having to pay for car park Service a bit slow in restaurant but it didn't spoil our meal

Review 56:Very comfy bed Great central location Free wifi Great food in restaurant

Review 57:The photos on the web site did not do it justice. The brick work looks very hard but on arrival it seems to soften

Review 58:Everything. We have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world and this hotel stood along side of them in enjoyment of stay. Restaurant was particularly good. We will definitley return to do some more 1st World War sites

Review 59:the wedding on Saturday night - children running and shouting in the courtyard until the early hours of the morning - mentioned this to reception - and said as they had presumably known of this when we booked we might have preferred a room on the other side of the hotel if staying longer than a weekend -lack of storage in bedroom

Review 60:location excellent good to have parking - but think this is a bit expensive breakfast - really good selection coffee - not good - as not fresh with every cup room comfortable - although we did try and save laundry by leaving towels on rails (if we were happy to reuse) as requested your housekeeping staff still gave us clean ones

Review 61:Expensive, limited parking on site, otherwise parking is hard to find. Didn't have one good night sleep as matress was too firm.

Review 62:Location is excellent, less than 5 minute walk from centre of Arras. Quiet at night. Staff helpful.

Review 63:Everything about the hotel was good/excellent, staff were attentive, room was small but very well decorated and the bathroom was well appointed. We had dinner with friends in the restaurant and we all enjoyed our food and again the service as lovely.

Review 64:Some of the rooms could benefit from some net curtains or similar as when normal curtains are open the rooms opposite and also in the dining area could see into our room. Apart from that the hotel was great.

Review 65:Wifi was free. Clean & friendly.

Review 66:Not great service at the bar and couldn't get a drink when we came back after dinner about midnight

Review 67:Right in the town centre but quiet and peaceful. Lovely decor inside, outside needs some tlc. Breakfast ok. Room small but comfortable. 2nd visit here and would return if in the area

Review 68:Unlike Italian hotels, which serve cold boiled eggs to go with the cold ham on offer, French hotels seem to be going in for displaying eggs which need to be cooked. For those with the time to wait 10 minutes for a boiled egg and want it hot, this is fine. For those of us who want a cold boiled egg to go with our cold ham or are in a hurry, it is not. Otherwise the breakfast was standard fare for a hotel of this quality in France. We were glad to leave the bed - after two nights, both of us had aches and pains and were delighted to get back to our own bed. Anyone with a bad back or a sleeping disorder be aware (although sadly our experience is that many hotels have terrible beds).

Review 69:Arras is not immediately likeable due to the complicated road system and traffic, but if you overcome that, the hotel is right in the centre with secure parking (even if you have to be very good at parking - there is not much space - but do book it as there is little other parking). The chef produces really good food at (for France) good value prices, well beyond what you would expect for what is a pretty standard hotel, and there is an extensive wine list (if you like higher prices - we stuck at just below €40, the cheapest but very nice). The room was functional, clean and the bathroom gets full marks for having lighting which meant you can put on your makeup with ease, and a good shower. For visiting the Somme it was ideal - you are right on the northern edge but as the Somme is still largely agricultural, you will always be around the edge of the battlefield and Arras has more restaurants to offer than Albert.

Review 70:Lack of bar staff. No atmosphere in bar or restaurant.

Review 71:The situation in the centre of the town but quiet. Excellent restaurant with a fair price but good quality.

Review 72:Some desk staff less polite than others- We were ignored for several minutes on more than 2 occasions.Staff should remember to acknowledge customer even whilst they are on the phone or writing things in books etc.

Review 73:Location central, building and setting very pretty.Convenient for our visits to the region

Review 74:Hard to find down Arras streets; signage only obvious from some directions having to negotiate bags around the chambermaid's equipment at the top of the stairs both on Sunday afternoon when we arrived, and again early on Monday morning as we left. Being given rooms in opposite parts of hotel when both had been booked together. plastic water beakers instead of glasses in rooms

Review 75:Friendly, helpful staff good, strong coffee

Review 76:Sleep disturbed on both nights of our stay. First night noisy revellers returning to hotel at 3am ( not the fault of the hotel) Second night, wedding at hotel went on till 2am and the noise of staff clearing tables etc until 3am. Felt that hotel should have pre-warned guests that they may be disturbed by the wedding.

Review 77:Location, character

Review 78:I believe l had this room at a different rate than normal,as it is classified as a luxury room, so l was lead to believe l was very lucky. Does that mean if you are disabled that you have to pay extra, or do you have other rooms that can cater for disabled persons at a much more reasonable rate, or are we being pressured into having to pay " luxury " prices. The room was perfect and with a walk-in shower would suit most disabled persons needs, plenty of room for wheelchairs etc. but not everyone can afford luxury prices.

Review 79:The wheelchair disabled room 110 on the first floor ticked all the boxes for a very comfortable, clean luxurious stay.

Review 80:The room was a little small and we had to go in a lift to floor 1 and then up some quite steep stairs to get to our room on the 2nd floor. Not too steady on the pins, so if we had been staying for more than 1 night, this would have been a problem.

Review 81:The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the bar manager who was attentive in every way

Review 82:Parking spaces at the hotel are ok if you are driving a mini. I was expected to squeeze in between 2 parking bays which was impossible without the help of one person in front of me and one at the back I would never of managed it. Myself and the car either side needed to be wafer thin to get in and out of our cars! Terrible value for 10 Euro

Review 83:Location is great, bed was comfortable and room ok.

Review 84:Parking has to be pre booked and is charged at 10Euro per night. Bathroom was clean but a bit tired looking and the towels were well used although again clean.

Review 85:Room was a good size, light and airy. Breakfast was buffet style and had a good variety of food both hot and cold. Excellent location for all the sites.

Review 86:Our room was in desperate need of re furbishment. Wardrobe was only 45 cm wide and only had one side in it. No storage for folded clothes.Table in bathroom had one leg much shorter than the other 3 and was dangerous.Shower screen did not fit onto bath, water flooded across the floor when we showered. Not a good room.

Review 87:Location, comfort of public areas i.e bar / lounge and dining room. Excellent breakfast

Review 88:No complaints value was outstanding

Review 89:Dinner at the hotel was outstanding with great value, Service was beyond belief. We will stay over on our return from England to Switzerland.

Review 90:Although the bedroom had a wardrobe with plenty of hanging space there was no drawer or shelf space. This wasn't a problem for us as we were only there for two nights, but it might present more of a problem for a longer stay.

Review 91:The location was perfect for us, we were able to walk from the railway station and it was only a short stroll to Les Places. The breakfast was buffet style with an excellent choice of food. The room was comfortable and the bathroom had only recently been refurbished. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. If you arrive by car there is excellent parking.

Review 92:Restaurant food was good but not all choices available. Had to make 3 selections before finding something available. Service at breakfast extremely slow, items not replenished, always having to ask for milk etc. Breakfast otherwise was quite good.

Review 93:Excellent location in the centre of Arras, very helpful reception staff. Spacious rooms and reserved secure parking space.

Review 94:Although I successfully reserved parking space, it's not clear to me how the process works or if one can be sure that one has secured a place before arrival. Hotel beginning to look a little run down now in some respects. Breakfast is rather pricey.

Review 95:Excellent location very close to the town centre. Private car park. Reasonable price.

Review 96:Long walk and stairs to the bedroom. The outside seating area could have been so much better. Service was a bit slow.

Review 97:Very good restaurant. Good location, short walk to the attractions, secure parking. Clean.

Review 98:Book parking early or you will not park here. Staff about as friendly as the ex-Stasi. Given disabled room. Why I will never know? Obviously no door on wash area of bathroom. Stains on carpet, possibly dozens. No air con. THIS HOTEL IS NOISY!!!! Bang, slam, shout, shout then more banging mainly due to late arrivals. If you really want to stay here then do not stay in a room overlooking internal forecourt which acts as car park. €16 euros for breakfast pp, about right. Suggest you don't write anything too bad on their survey or you might get questioned in the morning. Apart from this it's great!

Review 99:Lovely building. Centre if Arras Big rooms Comfortable bed linen sheets etc.

Review 100:You must make sure to reserve a parking space as spaces are limited. Quite difficult to find due to one way roads surrounding the hotel.

Review 101:The setting and style of this hotel is brilliant with excellent dining facilities. the centre of town is next door so to speak. Slightly old fashioned. Overall good and has a good report in the Michelin Guide.

Review 102:Staff in the restaurant - disengaged and disinterested so much so we left and went out to dine. Annoying as we had had a long drive and we just wanted to relax.

Review 103:Room very spacious and location excellent.

Review 104:Room rather cramped. Very difficult to find with a maze of one way streets!

Review 105:Excellent and very proffessional staff. Excellent restaurant food. Private and free parking Convenience for access to the city centre

Review 106:Car park was empty on arrival asked for a space was told no availability - protested a bit! But at 2130 the car park was still three quarters empty asked again but still a firm NO. At 0630 the following morning the car park was still the same as the evening before so I complained and all I got was a Shrug of the shoulders. Alternative parking was on the street half a mile away - POOR SHOW!

Review 107:Not much above average for the star rating

Review 108:location

Review 109:Great location and good food. Breakfast was excellent and the room was clean comfortable and warm.

Review 110:Location, parking both good and breakfast very good. Room comfortable.

Review 111:Initial room very small for deluxe. Fixed soap dispenser at shower height useless if having a bath.

Review 112:Excellent location ,secure parking, good value

Review 113:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very good location and lovely room.

Review 114:Not much!

Review 115:Atmosphere and excellent restaurant.and very pleasant and. Helpfull staff.

Review 116:Restaurant was very expensive

Review 117:VERY firm bed !

Review 118:Wonderful location in the very centre of Arras. Warm reception. Good breakfast. Pleasant room

Review 119:All was good.

Review 120:The heritage style of the property was impressive. The position in the heart of Arras made for a wonderful atmosphere.

Review 121:Very convenient location with parking. Very friendly staff

Review 122:seriously noisy outside at all hours.

Review 123:Location & parking

Review 124:The car parking charge was quite high.

Review 125:A very comfortable bedroom with an excellent breakfast.

Review 126:great location, excellent hotel, lack of aircon could be a problem in very hot weather.

Review 127:The location

Review 128:We had no complaints

Review 129:Everything about the hotel was first rate - staff, facilities, food and drinks .. and friendliness!!
