Reviews for Boutique Hotel Le Morgane

Review 1:The response I received from the manager when I complained about two things. The repulsive smell of sick from the lift & the fact that there was one rasher of bacon & half a teaspoon full of scrambled egg at 8.30am when I went to breakfast was appalling.

Review 2:Location

Review 3:Paid an awfully high price for this hotel. Had expected much, much more in terms of room size and pool area. The hotel has a one star restaurant. We took a three course menu. The pork - the main course - was very dry and dull. Was replaced immediately with beef (as we had gotten the last piece of pork). On top the restaurant overbilled us, this should never happen at a place like this.

Review 4:The interior design is beautiful in the public areas and the bar area is nice. The hotel staff was very professional and friendly.

Review 5:Best boutique hotel there is. The staff are extra helpful. The concierge Geoffrey will tell you all you need to know and even more and drive you to the ski lifts on the hotel car. Justine at the reception will make sure everything is perfect during your stay. Great location in the center next to restaurants and shops. Nice bar with interesting cocktails. Very nice breakfast. Apres-ski hot chocolate and cookies. Nice decoration.

Review 6:Restaurant staff were fussy and service was just ok. The bar closed early (11:30 ish). Value for money is not good - I would not be inclined to book again.

Review 7:Location and reception staff were excellent. The room sizes are adequate and and spa area was small but nice.

Review 8:Bathroom small considering was in an upgraded room. Noise late at night from people leaving nightclub opposite.

Review 9:Location very central. Clean, comfortable, friendly helpful staff. Spa a lovely bonus.

Review 10:Bathroom in Junior Suite brought a new meaning to compact. Breakfast good but, cooked breakfast was politely tepid, impolitely cold, - I brought it to the attention of the breakfast staff but they did nothing to correct. - I wasn't alone that morning.

Review 11:Location excellent. Front of house /reception staff were very helpful. 'Room with a view' - the view was wonderful. Private outdoor parking was a bonus and optional underground secure parking for very cold weather excellent.

Review 12:Minor details: water in the pool could be a bit warmer. Kitchen closes a bit early (9pm).

Review 13:The staff was very friendly, helpful and forthcoming - that is the most important!! The Spa was great, the food good.

Review 14:Loved our welcome, the location was perfect, the staff was exceptional, the room was spacious and very comfortable. Another big plus, on site, a Michelin star restaurant, Le Bistrot.

Review 15:From the moment you enter the hotel you cannot fail to be impressed with both the hotel and the staff, both of which are excellent and make for a superb stay!

Review 16:Everything was fine.

Review 17:It is well located and nice hotel with very friendly staff. Room is nice, not so big, I would say average size and furnitures are simple, very good tea available. Nice dry and wet sauna and small swiming pool to relax. There are few bicycles for rental free of charge that I used to visit Chamonix center, it was very useful. The restaurant has one star Michelin. In general it is very nice hotel I would recommend.

Review 18:Breakfast service was a little slow, they were not prepared for a crowd and many were waiting for hit eggs to come out. Also, while the bathroom is modern and very nice, there is no space to set toiletry items next to the sink. You must put them on shelf underneath, near the floor.

Review 19:Terrific location. Modern amenities.

Review 20:Nothing!

Review 21:Excellent location & close to Aiguelle du Midi which we were were able to visit on a clear morning to see wonderful views over alps. Handy to have a kettle to make a cuppa in the room. We had breakfast in town at a wonderful patisserie recommended by hotel. All staff were extremely helpful about local sights.

Review 22:To be a 4-star hotel, I was expecting a nicer room - I was not impressed with the decoration. The spa is quite small. The pool was supposed to be warmed up to 29°C, but it felt really cold - I wonder if that really was the temperature. Overall, I was expecting a more impressive place for the price paid.

Review 23:Modern hotel, really close to the city center and to the cable car to Aiguille du Midi. Friendly and extremely helpful staff at the reception. Amazingly comfortable beds and a nice spa.

Review 24:Nothing at all.

Review 25:Great welcome at reception. Very helpful young lady gave us some useful local information and provided tickets for the cable car ride situated just up the road from the hotel. Excellent location in centre of town and only a minutes walk to local restaurants and shops. Very clean and comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast buffet with real bacon and eggs as well as the usual continental style breakfast. Would recommend this place to anyone touring in the region or for longer stays in the skiing season. This is a superlative hotel.

Review 26:Tiny bathroom. Poor housekeeping, room was not vacuumed and beds weren't made during our 3 night stay even though the housekeeper had come into the room to change towels.

Review 27:Location, room size, comfort of bed. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Review 28:No bad experience but do not understand why the hairdryer is kept in a box that csnnot be moved from the table !! took up so much room I could hardly use the desk. Also.. bed a little soft but that is purely personal taste.

Review 29:Clean.. most comfortable and loved the flooring in the rooms.. easy to find and lovely balcony view of the river.. breakfast great !

Review 30:One receptionist at night shift knows nothing. When we inquired, she always said I do not know. It might be nicer, if next time she would say I don't know but I'll check with my colleague and feedback to you.

Review 31:Location: close to railway station & cable station; Staff: very sweet & helpful, especially Estelle & one male receptionist; Facility: very comfortable design, and many thanks for the free upgrade.

Review 32:Spa facilities were good but plunge pool area was used by some as a family swimming pool with diving and splashing.

Review 33:The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a junior suite which was very spacious and well set out and we paid extra for a mountain view and it was well worth it!

Review 34:Restaurant expensive, quality and quantity of food way overrated in reviews. Slick service though.

Review 35:Nice hotel in good location. Comfortable, if small room. Free outdoor parking. Friendly and efficient staff.

Review 36:Rooms, hallways and elevators are looking a bit shabby. Small bathroom.

Review 37:Modern lobby, very welcoming, friendly and helpful reception staff. Free outdoor parking. Our superior level room with balcony was on the 4th floor overlooking the river with a view of Mt. Brevent, quiet at night.

Review 38:Our balcony was slightly overlooked by the next one.

Review 39:Excellent location in centre of Chamonix, fantastic view of Mt Blanc from our balcony and most attentive and personable staff.

Review 40:one day we came back to our room at 3.40pm and it had not been cleaned. When we complained about this the staff said they had until 4.pm to get it cleaned. Cleaner came 3.55 and spent 7 minutes to tidy up the room. We were not impressed! We also booked a delux room and felt it was fairly basic and we were not given the mountain view (Mont Blanc or Bervent) instead we got a room at the back we a few over the car park and service entrance to the kitchen a bit disappointed with this.

Review 41:The location.

Review 42:cold scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast uncomfortable pillows

Review 43:Love the position of the hotel, had an amazing room (501) with a view to die for! Great parking, lovely staff, very friendly, brilliantly clean, comfy bed. Just lovely

Review 44:The view of the mountain from our room and small balcony. The quiet of the room away from the road. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good wifi. Very close to telepherique to Aiguille du Midi.

Review 45:room rather small - -described on arrival as an up-grade - we had river sound rather than noisy (good) but minimal view of mont Blanc

Review 46:staff very helpful. Free parking.

Review 47:Our room was quite small for two persons, bathroom so small that it is hard to turn around.

Review 48:Concierge service was excellent. Very helpful and friendly attitude.

Review 49:The wifi was quite poor in the rooms.

Review 50:Loved that despite the location the rooms were very quiet and the ability to black out and separate the bedroom was there- we had just been walking the tour de Mont Blanc and we needed a long rest ! spa was excellent and just what was needed too. Excellent staff.

Review 51:Slightly tired (room 213) decor, door lock (we were locked in the room for a short period, lol)

Review 52:Great location and we'll appointed rooms, bed was very comfortable.

Review 53:Breakfast and dinner are quite expensive, but there are any number of places nearby. Otherwise nothing at all to complain about, this is a very good hotel indeed.

Review 54:Service throughout our stay was fantastic. We enjoyed the €55 dinner menu with €30 wine tasting as a treat on our last night, superb food beautifully presented. The location is perfect (quieter rooms with balconies at the back). On-site car park (book ahead) is a huge bonus, too.

Review 55:Lighting in room was not enough. No air condition - inconvenient when outside temperatures are around 30 degrees (as it was on the week we stayed there).

Review 56:Modern hotel, nicely decorated, large and clean well-appointed room. Quiet location a few steps from the Aiguille Du Midi cable car, the Chamonix Sud train station and Chamonix Sud bus stop, 5 minutes walk from town center. Friendly and helpful staff. Our room had a balcony facing the Mont Blanc - superb view every morning and evening !

Review 57:No air condition. Very warm in the rooms. De luxe rooms where small rooms for a high price. Expensive parking and breakfast not included in the high price.Nice hotel, but a bit overrated.

Review 58:Good restaurant, Nice and helpful staff.Perfectly situated in Chamonix.

Review 59:No bad experience - at all.

Review 60:The room was lovely - very contemporary (as was the rest of the hotel) and spotlessly clean with a wonderful view of Mont Blanc. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed ever. But by far and away the best thing about this hotel was the staff - absolutely superb!!!

Review 61:Staff was somewhat stiff and not uniformly friendly No fans to adapt to the unusually wa weather. No sheets just a comforter. With 30 degree heat the rooms were too warm for sleeping

Review 62:No air condition - it was a hot day, the room had direct sun and was very hot at the beginning of the night. We slept with open doors to the balcony which we shared with others , did not feel so nice...

Review 63:Location - close to center but quiet. Staff - very helpful, makes you feel at home. We were upgraded - it was nice. Room was nice and comfortable.

Review 64:Had a very nice night in Chamonix. The hotel has certainly expanded and improved since our last visit. What fantastic views from the room. We would have no hesitation in staying here again. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 65:Hotel was clean and in great location. Rooms were nice however. Few issues gaining access to room key tricky to use. As its height of summer air conditioning would have been nice.

Review 66:Not a bad experience however the rooms are modest in size, but very well appointed.

Review 67:Friendly and efficient staff, excellent restaurant, wonderful indoor pool, sauna and steam room

Review 68:The central lamp didn't work and the TV was broken. There was a strange sound when the shower was used. And on the second day, the floor was not vacuumed, the bed sheet was not changed and the tea by the pot was not served, although we put a tip on the bed. The room 114 must be checked.

Review 69:One lady stuff is very pleasant and helpful. We were satisfied with the location and the restaurant.

Review 70:no place for suitcases. If you were using the suitcases holder the tv threatened to come down. Toilet and bathroom separate. Steamroom and sauna were not properly heated.

Review 71:location.

Review 72:Not always reliable Wi Fi

Review 73:Very comfortable and clean room with large terrace ( upgraded by hotel ) overlooking Mont Blanc range . Immediate response by reception to any requests from us . Free New York times newspaper for guests . free outdoors parking .Free Nespresso coffee.Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 74:Rooms are not very large; practically all space taken up by beds! Room 201 has wasted space at the entry, a very small bathroom and a uselessly large toilet. Wall between the two should have been moved to make a bigger bathroom. Toilet for some strange reason very low!

Review 75:Lovely public area and very helpful staff.

Review 76:The reception area looks nice but the room was very tired. Worse still, it had not been cleaned well before my stay. There were bits of food and previous guests hair on the floor. When the room was serviced the following day, it was all still there so I think they just give things a wipe over rather than a proper clean.

Review 77:Super location

Review 78:the only thing I might say is that the Internet wasn't as strong at all parts of the room we had a junior suite.

Review 79:the staff were extra friendly and genuinely happy to help with any query you had.. Overall great experience. Perfect location

Review 80:Breakfast is expensive and not much variety.

Review 81:Cheerful and friendly staff, great service, much better than any 5 stars hotel. Location right next to the cable car to Aguille Du Midi, variety of restaurant around including Chinese/Thai, halal kebab take away, and Indian restaurant just 2 blocks away serving excellent Indian cuisine.

Review 82:The staff were extremely helpful with information about the hotel, surrounds and dining recommendations. The first night we dined at their 1 Star Michelin restaurant and had the full 5 course meal with matched wines. The meal, wines and service is an experience to remember. We asked the hotel staff for a restaurant recommendation and they suggested Cap Horn which was also excellent and well priced. I cannot recommend the staff, restaurant and hotel highly enough. Free WiFi worked well in the room as well. Location is close to the main cable car and the pedestrian area. 5 minute walk max.

Review 83:I am a bit picky when it comes to the cleaning and the room could use some cleaning of doors and walls with a clean cloth. Other than that it was perfectly clean and well maintained.

Review 84:love the location, the proximity to the centre and still great views of Mont Blanc from the terrace. Started the day with a cup of coffee in the sun at my very own terrace with Mont blanc views. No better way to get ready for a day in beautifull Chamonix. The rooms are quite neutral when it comes to design. Which is a good thing. Love the rest of the Hotel, the lobby is chique and cool with a design that matches the mountains.. Even though it is a Boutique Hotel it still reflects the fact that it is situated in a mountain ski resort. Did not have any meals at the Hotel. And did not find time to go to the spa as it was summer outside, but did have a look and would defineatly go and have a swim if the weather was not as excellent! Also have to say the Hotel is value for money, quite reasonably price!! Which makes it easy to recommend to anyone:-)

Review 85:Nothing, really.

Review 86:Good location, not quite in the center, but only a couple of minutes' walk away; very comfortable bed; large bathroom; large balcony over the river.

Review 87:We had no complaints. Breakfast is a bit pricey so we ate in the hotel once and the other two mornings we used the excellent bakers over the road.

Review 88:The location of this hotel is great. We've stayed before and will probably stay again. Staff really friendly and helpful. Free hire bikes. Just a really good place to stay.

Review 89:Nothing to not like - wifi reception in room could have been a bit better.

Review 90:Hotel was great in all respects and exceeded our expectations. Very good sized room, great bed, close to town centre, great restaurant (1 Michelin star), friendly staff and short walk to main attractions.

Review 91:Leaving felt we could gave spent a couple more days in chamonix.

Review 92:From the moment the staff greated us with the warmest, friendly welcome wow this hotel is a must.

Review 93:Aside from two faint bedside lamps the room had only on corner stand lamp. A desktop lamp was provided when we asked but still left the room dim at night. This should be easy to fix. Linen was not ironed or changed between days.

Review 94:Staff were wonderful from the moment of arrival. Great location and garage parking. A beautiful room with a large top floor balcony facing on to Mont Blanc. Easy to reach the main attractions, main street and walks along the rive.

Review 95:Nothing - would certainly recommend it to our Australian friends

Review 96:Close to cable car to Aiguile, a gentle stroll into the heart of the village. Our room looked out at Brevent - tough view ! Could only be bettered by looking at Mt Blanc Geoffrey & Erica, who were on duty when we arrived, could not make us feel more welcome or do enough for us - thank you both very much. The guy who did breakfast was also great. Parking was on site outside for free

Review 97:didn't have a Jacuzzi. Room was cold as it was controlled at the front desk. During the spa session, the drain in the room stinked . Wifi was pointless. No noise insulation in rooms

Review 98:The front desk staff were very helpful. They overshadowed the bar staff (but they were not too important). Good size room. Availability of sauna. Size of hotel ie boutique. Bar area was always available; breakfast was convenient.

Review 99:Nothing really bad - just maybe a bit over-designed in places. The swimming area in the pool is 2m sq - though surrounding it is 8m of shallow, ankle-depth water....why? Nice saunas though. Our bathroom had a long double sink taking up the whole surface so no-where to put toilet bags... slightly annoying but didn't spoil a relaxing stay.

Review 100:The hotel has been recently renovated as a spa hotel with a modern twist. It's small, kitted out well for skiing with secure lockers and boot warmers - and a short walk to Chamonix Sud bus stop. The staff are friendly and helpful, directed us to ski rental shops and organised lift and bus passes for us. The room was comfortable and clean, with separate a wc and shower room, fridge, TV and wi-fi. We had a balcony and splendid view of the mountains with no-one overlooking our room so could pull back the curtains and enjoy the view all the time.

Review 101:The pool was too small - made for families with very small children - far better to have good sauna / steam room / jacuzzi facilities

Review 102:Location - ease of access, parking, bedroom, breakfast, helpful staff.

Review 103:I was expecting a little more from this hotel, since it is a 4* boutique hotel. The room is nice, but a little bit too small! The bathrooms are even smaller. Nothing that will ruin your stay. But yes, you might find better options for the same price range. I had the impression that the balcony was not well sustained. The pool/spa area is nice, but the pool temperature was not very “thermal” (it was announcing 29°C, but it was colder than that). For me, it was the biggest disappointment.

Review 104:The lobby has a modern and warm décor. The staff was really nice and welcoming. I reserved a parking place for 15€ and the hotel proposed the outside places that are free (good option)! The famous restaurant Le Bistro is the high point! Really worth it! Again, you might find better options for rooms in Chamonix, but you should try the restaurant.

Review 105:The room was not cleaned after the first night and the room was extremely small and so was the bathroom for a four star hotel. We also had duvet covers missing, and when we called to get new ones they told us that the cleaning ladies have left. It is not unless we started really getting upset that they brought one without sheets. I was furious because how did they expect us to use it with no sheets on it! so the reception lady said oh I did not know you needed sheets! which was ridiculous! so we had to help her put the sheets on because there was no cleaning lady. This felt more like three stars if not two. The kids slept throughout with duvets with no sheets on them because we could not be bothered anymore with all this. The hotel is very much understaffed. We also called once for room service and we were told there was no chef even though the menu said food service within x hours and it was within those hours. Basically don't expect much by way of service.

Review 106:Very well located. Concierge very helpful

Review 107:the wifi sucks. just terrible. it really only works in the lounge. I spend an extra 200 on 3g data costs. work that into your budget and don't plan on reliable wifi the food was average. really what do you really need in the morning anyway. Scrambled eggs, some bacon, etc. good choices. just average.

Review 108:pretty great location. Room 517. a bizarre but outstanding room. it was comfortable for certain, but its true charm was that it was on the top of the hotel with a deck overlooking Chamonix. From the deck, you could see the everything from both sides of the valley. it was nestled right under the awe inspiring Aguille du Midi. After each day skiing we would sit on the deck in the remaining sun of the day, drink wine and re-capture our day. The room was comfortable and the bathrooms were huge! too huge in fact. the room should have captured some of that space. the beds were good, the room was not to dry a night and the blackout shades worked brilliantly. it was minibar equipped so that is where stored our cheese and sausage to have with our savoie red wine at the end of the day. the tv is small. come with DVD's and ask for the player to be put in your room. the staff was good, spoke english well enough to help us. the ski lockers were perfect

Review 109:The heating was inadequate despite our complaints. House keeping disappeared for two days. The fire alarm went off for more than 30 minutes and no one from the personel came to explain what was going on. Very poor breakfast .

Review 110:Only the location

Review 111:The "suite" for a family of four was very small and tight quarters. The pull away sofa could have been more comfortable.

Review 112:Location was great, staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 113:The light in the room is very poor! Especially around the desk. There is no clock in the room for music and time. The WIFI in the rooms is very poor, lobby was better.

Review 114:The staff was so helpful in every way from making reservations for restaurants, transport to the airport. Geoffrey made our visit so great he was there at every turn to help. Music in the bar and little snacks during cocktails

Review 115:The smallest bathroom we've ever had. Insufficient shelf space in the rooms and poor lighting.

Review 116:Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Nice to have a spa to relax in after day's skiing. Plenty of parking, including underground at extra cost. Very good location.

Review 117:Restaurant over expensive, even for breakfast, but plenty of alternatives nearby. Wifi weak and slow even in first floor rooms.

Review 118:Well presented and functional. Great staff, multilingual and helpful. Convenient parking, lift and storage. Really great location in town as a base for walking or driving.

Review 119:We had a bad experience from one of the restaurant staff who insulted us at breakfast. We reported the incident to management and they took the appropriate action. We suspect the staff member was having a bad day. It happens...

Review 120:Location - 5 min walk to center of town. Easy access by car. Great reception on arrival. Beds very comfortable.

Review 121:The rooms are perhaps a little bit small (superior 22 m2)...for 2 or 3 nights it is ok...next time we will choose a bigger room

Review 122:For us everything was perfect. The hotel is very closed to the center of Chamonix. We had our two Dogs (Giant Schnauzer) with us and everything worked perfect.

Review 123:The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff at Le Morgane cannot be overstated. The location and comfort of the hotel made this trip one of the most relaxing we've wver had.

Review 124:- breafast choice is really too poor for a 4star hotel (while dinner is excellent, breakfast was dissapointing) - double rooms are very small with tiny bathrooms - spa and swimming pool are really tiny as well

Review 125:- staff at the reception was very helpful, Goffrey in particular made us feel very velcome and gave us excellent tips on where to ski/ go out - dinner was excellent and the staff was trying hard to ensure its a nice experience

Review 126:Nothing all was great

Review 127:The staff very very helpful and nice! I want to personally thank Alexandre he was there to check us in and out ! He help us , well beyond his job! We had car trouble and he called and figured ways for us to catch our flight! We preciate his help and would return to the hotel because of his hospitality

Review 128:When I got there, I discovered this "boutique" hotel is owned by Best Western... and in my opinion, it is still very much just a Best Western. It felt generic and old with a few modern furniture pieces and some purple lighting veneered over it. The pillows were lumpy fiber fill - no down pillows at this "four star". The duvet was thin. Things in the room looked worn. For example, the book with the hotel information looked like it had been in a child's school back pack for 3 months! The desk was dinged up and the rug felt old. Everything just felt cheap and worn for a 4 star hotel - I would forgive that if it was an old building that had some charm from it's age - but that's not the case. It really feels like a basic generic 3 star hotel that a corporation realized that if they put "boutique" in the name - they could charge more for it. There is a spa, which I didn't check out, so perhaps that's where the 4th star comes from?!

Review 129:the restaurant was good, the lounge is kind of nicely designed...The staff is nice and helpful. Balcony with view. optional outside parking for free.

Review 130:Not enough snow

Review 131:Excellent location in centre of Chamonix, spa and pool very clean and an area of peace and tranquility. High class restaurant and nicely furnished bedrooms. If you are there for skiing don't go till 20 December as everything is closed!

Review 132:The bedroom & bathroom a bit small. But that didn't really matter to us.

Review 133:Great location, very friendly & helpful staff, parking and great mountain views from the balcony.

Review 134:Although the restaurant was excellent the menu was limited which meant we had to eat out which was a real shame as we could otherwise have quiet happily stayed at the hotel every night.

Review 135:Very nice location, comfortable rooms with very large beds (super king size). The Michelin 1 star restaurant was also excellent & scored 10/10 with us for both presentation & quality of food. Has a sauna, steam room & pool in the basement. All this with off street parking makes it the perfect place to stay.

Review 136:Despite getting a larger room this time, the bathroom is still uncomfortably small for one and even worse when trying to get a child washed too. Breakfast menu is limited and it would be good if food could be ordered all day.

Review 137:The staff are excellent in contrast to most French in Chamonix. The hotel is stylish and comfortable and despite it being a trendy place they seem very welcoming to young children.

Review 138:Bed a little hard. Would have liked not looking onto another building, higher floor.table and chair in room would have been helpful as in your sister hotel.

Review 139:Staff great so friendly and helpful especially Sandra. Restaurant very good .Food and presentation excellent.

Review 140:Lack of lighting in bedroom.

Review 141:Very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent restaurant whose manager responded very quickly and positively to our complaint about slow service. Good central location. Very convenient underground car park.
