Reviews for Hôtel Parc Des Maréchaux

Review 1:Beautiful building within easy walking distance of the cathedral and restaurants. Staff were very helpful and made us welcome and made restaurant bookings. Steps up to the door and in our room. As my wife is somewhat handicapped this meant we couldn't say it was perfect for us.

Review 2:The lady at the Reception seemed to have no skills for the job! She refused to give a receipt with zero balance even though her boss told me / her that it could be done. She was most rude! The hotel had narrow winding stairs and no lift! One of my worst stays booked through Booking.com.

Review 3:Nothing!

Review 4:The lift was out of order, being upgraded for disabled use. Bit of a pain if like us you were on upper floors.

Review 5:It's within walking distance of town centre and the Jardin Gourmand Restaurant. Has a lovely pool so good stopover for a few days.

Review 6:We picked this hotel for location on our drive back to Paris. It was halfway. We like the fact that it was historical. We wanted to pool to relax at before a whirlwind 5 days in Paris, alas the weather did not cooperate, but the pool looked great, backyard was like a small park.

Review 7:Very pleasant hotel. Very comfortable room. Old mansion, as we say in U.S., so appropriately decorated with lots of velvet and old prints on the walls.

Review 8:Breakfast selection not brilliant but adequate. Would have liked Green Tea etc

Review 9:Friendly staff, clean hotel. Excellent. Nice walk to the river for dinner

Review 10:Tiny room and bed, noise from other rooms and stairs, old carpets throughout, pool was not available due to maintenance. all sockets did not work in room.

Review 11:The garden

Review 12:Breakfast was expensive with limited choice.

Review 13:Beautiful old hotel with blue shutters and large garden. Very gracious and peaceful. Good wifi. Comfortable bed and beautiful decor.

Review 14:Bedrooms were a bit too dark and over decorated. Not so pleasant to be inside

Review 15:Swimming pool and outside space was fantastic, very relaxing and enjoyable

Review 16:No overhead lighting in rooms, small bedside lamps not very bright.

Review 17:Great quiet location, 5 mins walk to city center. Possible to leave car in car park even after we checked out. Gorgeous garden/park area and cool swimming pool. Good filling breakfast.

Review 18:Large house with character - a good place to relax on the edge of Auxerre. No restaurant but a selection of simple meals available in the evening. Very helpful staff.

Review 19:Reception staff could not recommend a restaurant and just pointed us to the city centre where all the restaurants were closed (Sunday night) Could not see to use airconditioning (very hot/humid night) and wifi failed to connect

Review 20:Location to old city centre and easy access by car

Review 21:No restaurant. Bedroom, bed, bathroom, bath towel - all far too small and not befitting what is supposed to be a 4 star hotel.

Review 22:The lovely helpful staff. Old Auxerre within walking distance.

Review 23:No dislikes, although the bed was a little hard and room temperature a little hard to contraol.

Review 24:Historic Chateau. Great surrounding gardens. good continental breakfast.

Review 25:The building and grounds are absolutely wonderful. A few of the finishes are showing their wear but regardless, everything was very clean.

Review 26:Staff went beyond to make sure we were pleased with room, service and experience.

Review 27:We werent allowed to use the pool because of occasional rain showers. Sensed a reluctance to uncover it.

Review 28:Staff helpful. Said they didn't have quality evening food but what they produced was very nice

Review 29:This is a lovely hotel with great staff,it had a nice classy air but not stuffy we had two young children and they were made very welcome, lovely rooms modern bathrooms and great location a short walk to the centre of town, free off road parking it was very good

Review 30:The room was really small and outdated. Carpet on the floor and walls - you can feel the smell of dust. Small bed (140-150 cm) for a couple. No place to put on your clothes and luggage. Bathroom unconfortable and needs urgent improvements. Breakfast were served in the bar area with tables with about 60 cm tall.

Review 31:The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Nice old house in city centre.

Review 32:Nice atmosphere, historic style, close to city center and close to the wine district Cablis (20 minuts away) Cosy little garden and nice swimming pool

Review 33:The only problem was the wi-fi access. Connecting in the room was challenging and the security certificate for their service provider seems to have expired..

Review 34:Contrary to some earlier reviews we found the staff at the hotel very pleasant and helpful. The room was a good size and the location was quiet yet relatively close to the historic district.

Review 35:Food choice was very limited and when I asked for a sandwich for lunch (we were spending the day at the pool), they didn't have any bread and couldn't offer us any food.

Review 36:It was about 10 minutes walk into the centre of Auxerre. The staff on reception were very helpful, helping to book day trips and were always very polite.

Review 37:The room was rather small and a bit dark, but was furnished very well.

Review 38:We enjoyed especially the beautiful garden. We also liked the way the staff of this charming hotel acted. Everybody would enjoy this welcoming atmosphere.

Review 39:Evening menu very limited & no evening dinner on Sunday's

Review 40:Simple but good breakfast, Great character & good outdoor private mature garden, very tranquil.

Review 41:There was very little restaurant/bar service and they don't want you to bring it in, Saturday night there was one man waiting on tables, waiting on the bar and handling the check in and all hotel issues. He told all the guests in the restaurant area to whisper (at 6pm) because people were trying to sleep.

Review 42:Pretty, Pool, Nice location

Review 43:The staff did not have my reservation. There was a lengthy period of confusion while they scrambled to find me and my friend a room. Very unfortunate because just a few days earlier I had received an email from booking.com saying that everything was confirmed and ready to go.

Review 44:We just had problems last year. We returned this year for one day on our way back to Suisse because there was no other hotel available. Last year the bed for our children was not ready and we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to have some toasts for dinner! This year they gave us a room with a sofa bed for our children that was old and broken, they had to sleep with the legs inclined down all night long! The hotel is stale and we suggest you NOT to stay in this hotel, mostly if you are a family.

Review 45:It's close to the center

Review 46:the double bed in the "comfort room" was only 140 cm wide, which did not allow us to sleep comfortably

Review 47:Location, parking and old-fashioned feel

Review 48:The rooms are small and the lift did not work. No night concierge.

Review 49:The Location was good. The Breakfast was good and it has parking.

Review 55:Location, the mansion itself, the friendly staff, silence, patio, balcony.

Review 56:vey tired, needs renovation

Review 58:Great location in the town but with the beautiful garden and pool area we felt like we were in the French countryside

Review 59:easy to find close to good retaurants. good sized rooms and clean swimming pool

Review 60:overall generally good and avery nice swimming pool ,

Review 61:Hand held shower but not a problem

Review 64:No pool which was why we stayed there

Review 65:No bad experiences

Review 66:Close to city centre: very comfortable rooms: friendly and helpful staff: the simple but excellent bar food.

Review 67:The ambience of the old building. The quiet location, yet easy to find just off the ring-road.

Review 68:Great room , high ceilings , cloth covered walls and amazing drapes covering classic French doors out to a patio. Lovely

Review 69:The young lady that looked after us does the desk, the bar, and prepared dinner for us she is a gem!!

Review 70:Breakfast very poor for the cost.

Review 71:Pleasant room, nice terrace and lounge.

Review 72:Location

Review 73:Shower in a bath was very bad - low water pressure

Review 74:Wi-Fi was non existent, air con did not work, very noisy road

Review 75:Location was ok but on a busy road. Decor is very nice

Review 76:La chambre était un peu sombre

Review 77:La gentillesse du personnel

Review 78:No restaurant made evenings tricky with the kids.

Review 79:Had 5 minutes of swimming in the sun...priceless

Review 80:Too noisy we were awake from 5:30 AM

Review 81:nothing, all was according to expectations

Review 82:Service orientation of the staff ; a nice facility very nearby the city center

Review 83:Staff and location excellent.

Review 84:Room was small for our weeks stay with no draws or cupboards

Review 85:location was excellent with parking. Very clean and nice traditional decor.

Review 86:The room faced to road and was pretty loud with an open window. Ask for a garden room.

Review 87:Beautiful old home, great pool and surrounds, excellent location, good parking

Review 88:No restrauant and average breakfast... Expensive for what was offered.

Review 89:Lovely villa in good location. Staff were nice and very helpful Laundry down road was handy.

Review 90:Rate too high and did not include breakfast. No ventilation in bathroom, like a sauna after taking a shower.

Review 91:Very atmospheric decor, felt the real deal. Excellent air conditioning.

Review 92:One eve WiFi was not stable. Pool was closed. City was dead on Monday eve, brasserie Taverne Karlsbrau saved situation even after 9.00PM!!!

Review 93:Nice building, territory & helpful staff. Easy to find. Central location, quite, in walking distance to restaurants. Free parking. Good breakfast with yogurt, musli, eggs, cheese, ham, sausage, fruits! Free WiFi in room. Outdoor swimming pool.

Review 94:It is such an old style hotel. Really quiet. No atmosphere. Bath had shower but no wall mount so you had to have a bath. Really annoying. Rooms really dark and old style decor. Bar had no one in it so if you wanted a drink it ws just with yourself. Would have cancelled when we seen it but we would have been charged. Expensive for what we got.

Review 95:The guy that met us when we arrived was friendly

Review 96:Bathroom was very small with a very small bath and shower over with no curtain. Bed wasn't very comfortable.

Review 97:Location Staff friendliness Interesting building

Review 98:Room a little small. Room at front so too much road noise. Although the hotel prides itself on providing baths in all rooms, in the small space a shower would have been better.

Review 99:A garden to sit in. Easy walk into the town centre. A good breakfast. A pleasing building that hadn't had lots of extensions added.

Review 100:Awkward access to bath tub. Unlit portion of road on late walk back from city centre.

Review 101:Friendly helpful staff. Grand décor. Good breakfast. Amazing grounds. Good parking. Proximity to ring road.

Review 102:everything was fantastic

Review 103:The lovely reception and the room and gardens. 10 out of 10. Perfect. lovely Manager. very helpful. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Review 104:Getting tattered. Far to expensive with tiny room. Doorknob falling off.Would not stay again in this hotel.Far better available. In Beane at great hotel, better standard for less money.

Review 105:Location. Village lovely.Hotel grounds lovely.

Review 106:Breakfast was fairly basic with not a lot of choice.

Review 107:Old world charm with historical connection to Napoleon. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location, close to the centre of town and relatively quiet. Our room was clean and overlooked the beautiful garden at the rear.

Review 108:no restaurant (but limited room-service menu also served in bar or garden).

Review 109:friendly and welcoming; relaxed; elegant themed decor; beautiful setting in magical garden with swimming pool. Perfect stop-over en route from Calais to the Med but would make excellent base for touring vineyards around Chablis.Wonderful countryside and much to see in the area and in Auxerre itself. on-site parking

Review 110:It is a small and beautifully decorated hotel. Staff are very happy to help and all were very pleasant. Although in town, it has a lovely garden and pool. The breakfast table looked so nicely laid out and was delicious.

Review 111:A great hotel in a wonderful setting on the edge of the town. Perfect location to explore Auxerre. Fantastic room and a great pool and terraced area, which our children loved. We will definitely return.

Review 112:Only problem is that the hotel does not have a restaurant that serves dinner and Auxerre only has a few reasonable restaurants.

Review 113:Nicely appointed rooms, with classy touches. The breakfast and bar/sitting area is comfortable and great for relaxing. The hotel has a beautiful outside garden area for quiet walks. The front desk person, who also is the barman and the waiter was always very helpful.

Review 114:There was no such thing

Review 115:- the concept and design of the hotel - very well arranged rooms and beautiful, garden - location very close to the historical centre of Auxerre (the city is also a very good starting point to visit this part of Burgundy) - very professional and very nice staff

Review 116:Small bathroom and the shower rose was hand held only. The room was small and had a lot of furniture, maybe too much.

Review 117:The hotel was elegant. Although the building is old, there is an elevator, which is handy when you have luggage. The location is excellent as it is close to the town centre. The staff were extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Review 118:Pity there isn't a restaurant so that you could eat on site in the beautiful surroundings.

Review 119:The rooms are beautifully appointed, the public rooms also. The garden is delightful and the covered pool is lovely and at a good temperature. An island of peace and beauty in the middle of town.Staff very helpful.

Review 120:Our room was a little cramped, but with aircon it hardly mattered.

Review 121:The very best of what a French hotel ought to be. Interior decor suited the beautiful old building, the garden was a delightful place to eat and relax, the staff did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Excellent breakfast buffet.
