Reviews for Grand Hôtel des Alpes
Review 1:Nothing.
Review 2:Outstanding in every way! Comfortable, cozy and welcoming common areas where sweet and savory delights are served each afternoon and evening. Exceptional staff that ensures that you have the best experiences. And, the most cheerful shuttle bus driver who delivers and picks up the guests throughout the valley.
Review 3:The room was the smallest hotel room that we have ever seen. There was a tiny single cupboard and It is definitely very difficult especially if you are on a skiing holiday. for this amount of money you would expect bigger rooms.
Review 4:Service is really amazing. The manager of the hotel is helpful for every second that you spend in the hotel and her team is so professional that you feel so pampered and relaxed about everything. The lobby of the hotel is very cosy and a cool place to spend your time.
Review 5:The front desk stuff were not friendly nor unfriendly. Every time I pass by or go there ask for anything, they appeared to be lukewarm. The during of my stay were two days and every morning I was woken up by the noise from a nearby construction before 8am. The luggage person and bar stuff were very friendly. For my opinion, not worth the price they are charging. They have their own private indoor parking which is helpful.
Review 6:The location is very good.
Review 7:The internet connection did not always work and there was no air conditioning. The standard double room was small and the room air was not fresh.
Review 8:Beautiful old world charm and centrally located in the heart of the village. The Staff personnel were very personable and helpful, especially Natalya and Francesca at the front desk in helping us to be comfortable, changed the location of our room and gave us softer pillows, among other things other staff members did to make us feel welcome.
Review 9:Great location in the heart of the main walkway. Excellent views of the mountains and the river is right beside hotel. Ask for room with a view of Mont Blanc and a balcony! Definitely worth it.
Review 10:One day the wifi was a little dodgey but no biggie..was resolved fairly quickly.
Review 11:The staff was sincerely the nicest and helpful. Beautiful beautiful on the inside as well as the out!
Review 12:Our WiFi was "spotty;" and we had consistent trouble obtaining our email on an iPad. Always had to get help from the front desk (which they generously gave).
Review 13:Location is wonderful, once one locates the parking garage. The map they provided did NOT get us to the proper location, and we found it only by chance - after a half hour!
Review 14:If we had to dig for something to work on it would be that the Wifi was inconsistent. That was probably because we stayed on the 7th floor and it stretched the range of the router. We did catch a heat wave on our trip and the hotel does not have air conditioning (not unusual for Chamonix). The hotel did provide a fan and it cooled down at night. Nothing else negative whatsoever!
Review 15:Stayed in the honeymoon suite, it was like staying in a treehouse. Definitely one of the more unique rooms that I've ever stayed in!
Review 16:Everything, very welcoming staff, beautiful hotel, great breakfast. A big thanks to Francesca who made this stay an absolute pleasure. Can't say enough good things about it, and I am a very experienced traveler.
Review 17:Breakfast charged at Euro 20 is expensive,
Review 18:Excellent property and very courteous & friendly staff. all sights and restaurants are within walking distance.
Review 19:We liked everything about this hotel. We booked it online that day. Onarrival by car we were met by the lovely friendly receptionist whoshowed us into the underground carpark. The decor throughout the hotelis Devine with hand painting on most of the walls. Our room was fabulousand had a balcony with chairs that overlooked the river and up towardsMont Blanc. Breakfast was on the outside terrace and was delicious. Allstaff were extremely friendly, cheerful and helpful. I would highlyrecommend this very central hotel.
Review 20:A room on the streetside can be noisy at nights with partygoers going home and deliveries for shops in the norning. Get a room on the 'Mont Blanc side'.
Review 21:Friendly staff and very well refurbished hotel and rooms.
Review 22:We came to Chamonix to see Mont Blanc and hike the French Alpes. We had a wonderful location at the Grand Hotel des Alpes to get to the mountain trams and to all the wonderful shops & restaurants. We parked our car the whole time & walked everywhere - loved it.
Review 23:Shouty drunk people. Inevitable in Chamonix and the screaming will keep any sensitive sleeper awake. Take earplugs. Classic room is very small, but comfortable and clean. The lift. Allow extra time to get out in the morning.
Review 24:Walk out of the door and you are right in the middle of town. The service is superb - everyone we encountered at the hotel went out of his/her way to look after us. It's lovely having an evening drink either on the terrace at the front of the hotel, or on the more private balcony overlooking the river.
Review 25:The hotel recommended a restaurant called atmosphere-- don't go!!!! The service is horrible and it is really overpriced-- I do not recommend! The food wasn't very good either!
Review 26:The staff is incredible- it was my 40th birthday and they went out their way to name everything perfect! They were all (5-6 people we interacted with) so kind, so friendly and so wonderful! I would definitely return- the location is ideal and everything was terrific!
Review 27:customer service is excellent. Friendly staff who made us feel at home and well looked after. With the ski room situated conveniently by the carpark, our skis were loaded for us by the hotel driver, this hotel is basically a ski in ski out (you get picked up at the end of the day as well).
Review 28:Sauna and steam bath are rather small and don't have any recreational area
Review 29:Very friendly staff, central location, very cozy and comfortable lounge area
Review 30:Wifi wasn't the best, little slow and intermittent - but it did still work
Review 31:Staff helpful and friendly Free shuttle service to the slopes Complimentary pastries for afternoon tea Spa facilities Comfy bed
Review 32:Only downside was the wifi which was sporadic - but the staff did their utmost to ensure we could keep on top of business whilst we were there.
Review 33:Staff couldn't be more accommodating - incredible service which made us feel truly welcome. Beautiful hotel with perfect position in town, good clean spa facilities and private parking - we will definitely be back!
Review 34:small room slow wi-fi - had to use my mobile as a router (thx to Vodafone Eurotraveller plan cost me only £3 per day)))
Review 35:friendly and welcoming staff great breakfast great location for apre-ski nice spa and swimming pool
Review 36:Excellent staff particularly the courtesy bus driver and reception staff. Also back room staff returned left behind item free of charge, would definitely stay again
Review 37:The staff are super friendly and make every effort to do all they can for you. The rooms are very comfortable, if a bit small. Lovely to have a pool, even if it is a bit small too. The hotel is situated in the centre of the village which is really convenient for shopping, ski hire and going out at night. The breakfast is great!
Review 38:Very poor wifi, sorry it's 2015 and luxury hotel shouldn't have poor wifi and saying we are in the mountains as an excuse doesn't count.
Review 39:The room was nice and well appointed. The free afternoon snacks were a very good idea. Very friendly staff and helpful. If you are driving make sure you call the hotel as you need someone to open the barrier to get down the private access road.
Review 40:It is overpriced for the range of facilities and very small rooms. Rooms overlooking pedestrian area (Brevent) is quite nosy - until 2-4am Very poor Spa facilities, small pool and jacuzzi area Breakfast should be more various for the price.
Review 41:Staff - the best things in this hotel Location A very convenient free ski-shuttle Convenient underground car-park Персонал Расположение - в центре пешеходной зоны Удобный шатл до подъемников Удобный паркинг, но достаточно дорогой 20евро
Review 42:Wifi was weak and unreliable.
Review 43:I chose this hotel because it does not have the typical alpine decor. This hotel is stunning. Gorgeous rooms with clouds for blankets and lovely views. Afternoon tea and predinner snacks. Perfect location. Amazing staff; best customer service i've had at a european hotel! We will be back!
Review 44:Being in the center is an advantage but also an inconvenient , very noisy until 4.30am with young people totally drunk in the street... Best would be to stay on river side
Review 45:Beautiful classic hotel in the center of Chamonix. Warm welcome from the first minute. Wellness facilities very well maintained, classy, classic. Cosy, warm, quaint...
Review 46:I cannot rate this hotel high enough. I've stayed all over the world in many hotels. I have never been to hotel that had this level of service throughout my stay. Your wish is their command. Amazing, Simply Amazing.
Review 47:The staff were fabulous and made our stay wonderful. They organised lift tickets, gave us great advice on where to go and had a fantastic Christmas Eve party. We will visit again.
Review 48:One receptionist seemed"wired". She was always there and seemed stressed. Poor communication skills. Seemed very defensive. Needs a vacation
Review 49:The room was comfortable. The creek so nice to sleep to. Restaurant staff wonderful.
Review 50:The car parking is very expensive. The hotel is quite price and then you have to pay an additional 20Eur for parking per day. That was a bit rough.
Review 51:I like everything about the hotel, the location the views, although we had a view of the town.
Review 52:small balcony in our room, room for one chair only however our companions balcony was plenty big enough for two.
Review 53:This hotel is in the centre of town, as the season was ending it was very quiet, the room was clean comfortable and quiet. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and the staff were helpful and attentive. i would recommend this hotel.
Review 54:The jacuzzi could be hotter temperature, but that's nit-picking! I had a great stay!!!!!
Review 55:I had a great stay!!!!! Room 700 accommodations were delightful and staff was incredibly helpful and friendly! :)
Review 56:There is everything to like about this hotel - Service, View, Comfortable & Beautiful Room, and Location. However, I really have to comment on the professional service of this hotel. We came in as exhausted rug rats straight off the TMB and were graciously escorted to a beautiful Mont Blanc view room. We even had laundry service! If you want to stay in an hotel with phenomenal professional adult staff, this is the place for you.
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:The Grand Hotel is a very elegant building, with panelled rooms and monogrammed soft furnishings. The bed was extremely comfortable with cozy down comforters to cuddle you to sleep. The location was perfect, right on the main pedestrian area, and within a quick walk of bars, restaurants and the major attractions. The staff were delightful, and very helpful. We were very glad we had chosen this hotel for our stay.
Review 59:it is really overpriced. we paid half for same quality of things in other hotels in chamonix. IT is good old English style so if anyone wants to pay for it twice.
Review 60:Location in the city is nice, view from balcony with river and mont blanc is amazing breakfast was good, but not outstanding - terrace for breakfast is really nice, but you can not use it early in the morning as it is really cold and wet outside
Review 61:The hotel location is great. Excellent facilities. The Staff in general is very nice, but we owe a special thanks to Francesca who is very friendly and helped us in absolutely everything.
Review 62:Seems weekend outdoor music is common in town now. Was quite bothersome as the sound carried right our room location. Lasts until 22h or so. Despite that, everything else is superb and would recommend the property.
Review 63:Stayed here back in 2011 and because of the excellent staff we never really looked elsewhere when planning our second visit to Chamonix. Very professional, friendly, and attentive.
Review 64:Secure parking on site. Location brilliant in centre of town with many restaurants only minutes away. Large comfy suite with comfy sofa bed for our boys aged 4 and 7. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 65:My guess is that this hotel has considerably downsized over time and rented or sold part of its facilities. 25 rooms over 5 floors is not particularly "Grand"
Review 66:Location
Review 67:The staff were wonderful - they were always ready to help with anything we needed, they were friendly and just great. The hotel is right in the pedestrianised centre of the town, has a lovely indoor pool which we had to ourselves one day, fantastic breakfast buffer, lovely lounge area and is very comfortable. The rooms are not big, but are very well furnished with lots of storage space, and very cosy decor. We really enjoyed our stay.
Review 68:Out two day stay of July 3 & 4, 2014 was very satisfying. The entire experience was Grand, yet unpretentious. The Hotel and our room was beautifully wood paneled, a relaxing view of the river, spacious bath & shower, and above all, friendly Staff. Francesca and the others were always helpful and available. Genuinely hope to return.
