Reviews for Hôtel Du Cygne

Review 1:Wash basins in both our rooms had cracks in them and the taps were hard to turn on. The toilet has a huge crack in the back wall above the toilet

Review 2:The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was great for getting to the center of the city.

Review 3:The shower was really dirty, so it was the room and to be honest we had to keep the door of the wc close because of the bad smell. In our room there was no liquid soap, so it was pretty hard to wash.

Review 4:The city centre is really easy to reach.

Review 5:Only issue was the lack of air conditioning as we were staying during a very hot summer night. There was a stand alone fan that provided some relief.

Review 6:Very pleasant staff / owners. It's a 2 star so don't have high expectations. Walking distance to town center. Very basic room and beds not so comfortable.

Review 7:Toilet seat was old and chipped surface gave the impression of not being clean. Although we did not require room to be serviced (for a extra charge) we did expect daily soap and shampoo for a three day stay.

Review 8:Room had a mini bar fridge so we could keep cheese etc chilled. Room facing courtyard was reasonably quiet, and the hotel offered enclosed storage for bikes.

Review 9:Ate at a local restaurant on the quay and my wife suffered food poisoning from a dodgy seafood starter. Avoid seafood even in April - especially if curried!

Review 10:Very friendly and helpful staff who provided good advice and helpful recommendations. Very close to the town centre and perfect for simply strolling through this enchanting mediaeval city. Staff most helpful and supportive when my wife was feeling unwell - this was most appreciated.

Review 11:Not a bad experience but the bathroom ventilation was a little "rustic", introducing some very cold blasts of air on a windy February night.

Review 12:Very friendly owners and, after a long, hard day, a welcome bar.

Review 13:The decor was tired and the bed linen similar to my Grandma's! The hotel was dated and very dark. The loo and shower were ensuite but separated.

Review 14:The hotel was clean. Good stop off point. Parking My room at the back, overlooking the courtyard, was quiet.

Review 15:We arrived late in the rain and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially with our 2 small children. They recommended a restaurant that was still open at 11pm for us to eat.

Review 16:Room faced on to the main road, noisy as needed window open due to the temperature (no air con). Would be OK if you kept window shut.

Review 17:Good location to get the town centre

Review 18:The hotel is so close to the historic centre, and it has parking, you really can't go wrong. The owner came to see us and gave us a map of the centre of Auxerre and gave us advice on where to eat with a young child. We walked into the historic centre quickly and easily and enjoyed a lovely evening there. The breakfast was good as well.

Review 19:Parking a little tight.

Review 20:We have been coming to this hotel since about 1980. The hotel has been redecorated many times since, but the decor remains the same. We love it. Near to the town centre, friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast.

Review 21:Toilet and bathroom are separated in the room :)

Review 22:For short one night stay it is ok Parking inside is available

Review 23:very nice people at hotel

Review 24:Lighting in the room was not very good. Double bed sank in the middle so it was very uncomfortabls.

Review 25:The place is a little dated, but clean. Bathroom was very small

Review 26:Good location, could walk to the town centre and all churches

Review 27:Comfortable, clean room. Secure parking. Staff helped by calling motoring assistance as my car would not start in the morning. Very helpful indeed.

Review 28:Charming helpful hosts, wifi good, room comfortable, breakfast of a standard consistent with hotels elsewhere, and private parking.

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:The room & location

Review 31:Can't use Wi-Fi in the room

Review 32:coffee / tea facilities would be a plus

Review 33:free parking near the hotel

Review 34:As above

Review 35:Easy walk into town, good price, car parking

Review 39:The breakfast can for sure better!

Review 40:The location is good.

Review 41:Very small bathroom. No tea or coffee facilities.

Review 42:Friendly staff. Off street parking (5 Euro per night), close to restaurants

Review 43:People smoking next door and smoke coming into our room. Sign in corridor said "No Smoking"

Review 44:Location, car parking

Review 45:Everything

Review 46:Easy walking distance to the Old Town. Owners/staff very nice and friendly.

Review 47:some of the furniture & decor are somewhat tired

Review 48:handy location comfortable bed decent size bath helpful staff

Review 49:Off street parking not available out of hours. Toilet dirty.

Review 50:The bathroom lighting was poor. This wasn't significant for one night!

Review 51:We had a very spacious and comfortable family room for a one night stop over. As well as a table and (wobbly) seating the small fridge was an excellent addition to the room. We would happily return to this hotel due to the comfort of the room and the location close to the old town.

Review 52:The hostess was very friendly and helpful on arrival offering us a bigger room when she was that one of us was over 190cm tall! Yes, our room was small but very adequate for the one night of our stay. She also provided some great advice on dining choices in the main part of the town, which was in easy walking distance from the hotel. The host in the morning was also friendly, explaining the breakfast options to us and helping us as required.

Review 53:Room facilities. No wardrobe, one chair.

Review 54:Price and location. This is possibly the cheapest hotel in Auxerre. Secure parking and close to the town centre.

Review 55:Basic but tired environment, decoratively a bit dull. Limited parking - as advertised so not unexpected

Review 56:Very convenient location for visiting the town, pleasant and friendly staff, well organised and easy to use - fairly close to national routes.

Review 57:Good location for visiting the town of auxerre. Very friendly staff good breakfast. Limited car spaces at hotel which costs 5 euros per night, but plenty of free parking nearby. We found this hotel to be very pleasant and would visit again if travelling that way again.

Review 58:Breakfast was not the greatest. The rooms need a little sprucing up.

Review 59:Owner and staff very friendly, really made the difference! Rooms were clean, and adequate for a short stay.

Review 60:This is a cozy, friendly hotel. It's not glamorous but it's comfortable and clean and has a 24 hour desk service. located on the main shopping road, its a quick walk to town. For pilgrims on the Santiago Camino it's a great and affordable option.

Review 61:Early morning street noise was a bit loud, but it didn't last too long. And, of course, I'd prefer the on-site parking to be free. The decor of the place feels old, but that doesn't really affect ones comfort.

Review 62:The 24-hour reception was good and all the staff I met were friendly and cooperative. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was of the standard budget hotel type. It is in easy walking distance from the old city and there's a large market on Tuesday mornings just around the corner. There's on-site parking for a charge, but there's free parking available not too far away. The shower was a good size, which I appreciated after most of the other places I'd been staying at.

Review 63:They didn't have free parking, however it wasn't a big deal there was a free parking lot not even 200m away (which is used for a market on some days).

Review 64:The staff people were great. The location is right outside of downtown which makes it easy to leave by car.

Review 65:Nice place, clean and cozy, friendly staff, not far from sites

Review 66:The decor & furnishings are tired.

Review 67:Excellent location, restaurants nearby & super helpful staff.

Review 68:Very basic but good for purpose

Review 69:Staff, price, ecellent for stop-over

Review 70:The price. The location close to the town centre. The 24hr reception. The parking. A good breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 71:very small room, very old style furnishings, you could here everybody walking up and down the corridors

Review 72:Close to Auxerre centre

Review 73:Hotel 'tired' room very basic and also 'tired'

Review 74:Friendly reception, good breakfast
