Reviews for Grand Pacific Hotel
Review 1:The breakfast was amazing!compared to some other hotels that charge almost the same in Suva, you really get good value for your money: free wifi, breakfast was included in our rate.
Review 2:Inconsistent room servicing with towels, soaps etc. Sometimes no flannels, sometimes small soap or big soap. One day room was not made up at all. This is poor.
Review 3:Location
Review 4:The breakfast was not as good as we expected. Our previous visit in 2014, breakfast was wonderful, but this trip they did away with a lot of items. We saw that some guests received a complimentary drink on arrival, which we did not.
Review 5:Most of the staff was very friendly.
Review 6:The Booking.com "Best Price Guarantee" was not honoured andthe staff member refused to listen to her own company's terms andconditions. The hotel manager lacked any sense of customer service, advised I was making a false claim and was arrogant and unhelpful. Twoidentical rooms, one $400 more than the other.
Review 7:Parking
Review 8:I didnt like the: - mini-bar since it was not for free. very deceiving. - food was a bit pricey. I ordered a carbonara it did not even come with garlic bread. - Breakfast was alright. Some of the staff were not friendly. - elevator did not work during my stay. - Wifi only worked during the first day of our stay but for the rest - did not even work. very disappointing.
Review 9:I liked the: - service. great service by the staff. - spa. it was nice but the girl who did my manicure rushed it a bit so i wasnt really happy with it. - location. great and right in town.
Review 10:Parents allow children to run around corridors causing a lot of noise. Many guests talk loudly in corridors and slam doors, not realising that others want to rest or sleep.
Review 11:We were allocated to a large, comfortable room on the first floor with wonderful views over Suva harbour. A good choice of breakfast was served on the terrace alongside the pool. The air-conditioned Albert restaurant was a good place to eat away from the daytime humidity. Staff were efficient and happy to offer advice.
Review 12:Nothing bad to write about
Review 13:Friendly staff. Nice facility and clean, all of our needs and expectations were met with the high class level of professionalism by staff and management. Vuli job well done.
Review 14:We paid for 3 adults yet were only given all the basic facilities for two, even the towel, cups, glass, no hand towels , face towels, was very disappointing for the amount of money we paid. The day(1/12/2015) we were to check out, we had brought down our belongings as we didnt want to go back to the room. It was around 9am, we had planned to leave out stuff in the car, have our breakfast, walk around pay our bills and then leave. As we were near the door the the receptionist made her junior worker to run up to us to ask what was our room number and if we were checking out. We told her are, just going to leave our belongings, have breakfast and then. She followed us up to our car when our details were held at the reception. We were made to look like as if we were running away without paying, the junior worker following us when she was told we will be back in after putting our stuff. Check out is at 1pm not 9am and enough of our details were held there if they needed to chase us for one thousand dollars. After leaving our belongings in the car, we went had our breakfast as planned and came to the reception to pay. The receptionist was very lucky that her manager wasnt told how disgusted we were about the way we were treated. We did give our feed back to the receptionist and paid our bills in cash and not with a credit card. We came back so disappointed and will tell our friends of our experience there.
Review 15:Nothing much, was just ordinary service, have seen better and much more worth the money. Over-priced for the services given.
Review 16:No warmth and Fijian hospitality as the staff uniforms and place attempts to capture the colonial era which belongs in the past.
Review 17:Staff were friendly and helpful. But the place didn't exude the Bula spirit. ..
Review 18:My access key card for the room did not work and it took 4 trips back and forth thp the reception desk to get it working..
Review 19:Excellent location, excellent facilities, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 20:They still have a few teething problems being relatively new but they are heading on the right track
Review 21:The overall stay, premises, staff were excellent. Looking out to the harbour is just idyllic.
Review 22:breakfast menu needs to be improved . Parking was a problem for me as a guest due to all taken up for private function
Review 23:Good facilities. friendly staff . the best thing is 12 noon check out the next day .
Review 24:They need to decide if they're a concert hall or a hotel. Loud music into the night. Mediocre food. Room just OK. Way overpriced for what you get.
Review 25:It was just OK. Can't really single out anything we liked about it.
Review 26:COLD SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT AND LACK OF DECORATION IN NEW SECTION
Review 27:LOCATION WIFI STABLE CONNECTION STAFF WILLINGNESS TO ASSIST ANYTIME NEW HOTEL AND FACILITIES
Review 28:This Hotel was perfect...the staff were also helpful, friendly and smiling nothing was a problem to anyone...the food was excellent I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough
Review 29:Firstly we booked for a rooms with 2 seperate beds. We were allocated at check in for a ONE bed. We only realized as we walked into the room, so we called reception again to change it so they did. Then they allocated us a room on the 3rd floor (314) with 2 beds, BUT the airconditioning was not working too well. We were only there for a night so it really didn't bother us.
Review 30:We liked how the staff greeted us. Smiled at all times. Helped us with our luggage. The rooms were clean. We like the Pure Fiji amenities in the bathroom. The complinentary Fiji Water bottle.
Review 31:The food is so expansive you can buy 5 amazing dinners in suva for the price of 1 here. Lunch buffet $50 FJD when an amazing lunch 1/2 a kilometer down the road is $4.50. Not enough drinkable water provided for free and they charge 5 times the price for bottled water. Do yourself a favor and get a real fijan experiance by eating, drinking and purchasing water away from the hotel.
Review 32:Great location, great staff, very clean and bug free.
Review 33:The service and care of your staff made our time at GPH very enjoyable. From the guys at the front door, to the desk girls, dining room staff and cleaning ladies, keep doing what you are doing as it is working and we will be back again.
Review 34:This place is the best in Fiji. The staff were magnificent. The hotel a grand lady which has been renewed without short cuts. The whole experience was a pleasure and now a second home for me
Review 35:Although we were told of our upgrade they hadn't seen that there three of us, therefore needing an extra bed as originally ordered. A metal foldout bed was impossible to sleep on and my daughter had to sleep on the floor. We got a slight refund for this inconvenience.
Review 36:The helpful staff, food was great, atmosphere and beautiful building. Nice bedroom and bathroom
Review 37:Every bit of service given to us was excellent. Highly recommended this hotel. Two functions we had 40th birthday us the wedding. Staff was awesome food was great location of the hotel just two minutes from city. The beautiful view it has and a amazing clean tidy hotel!!
Review 38:Room service they need to find a way to keep it hot and alway forgot what we ordered and what we order because they don't write anything down
Review 39:Victoria lounge was excellent with butler service sanath was awesome Buttler also all the staff are really friendly and rooms were massive really nice and so was sea view definitely worth the little extra
Review 40:Restaurant side poor, staff made quite a few mistakes, breakfast ok Staff not well experienced, and perhaps not the right supervision and support, and training, menu card quite limited, lack of veges, food not always warm enough, coffee not warm enough despite requests to get it hotter
Review 41:Hotel side excellent
Review 42:Tried hard but could not find anything I did not like
Review 43:It was our 50th wedding anniversary and we spent our first night at the old GPH. It has been beautifully and tastefully restored and added to
Review 44:Staff were very nice but need better training the hotel does not live up to its 5 star status. The rooms appear clean but they are not, there are finger marks all over the glass and furniture, not what u expect, the shower mat in 226 wAs dirty and in 420 was disgusting. The hotel is beautiful but we were really disappointed. The Concieage clothing looked so old and definitely could have at least a new hat.
Review 45:Beautiful grand hotel
Review 46:Bed was very uncomfortable, could feel the springs. Check out was difficult, there was some mistake with our card and a charge was made twice but removed eventually.
Review 47:Almost everything was great as you would expect.
Review 48:The porters uniform, (suggestion) - maybe wear traditional sulu vakataga and without the funny hat.
Review 49:EVERYTHING the happy and friendly staff so WELCOMING "EXCELLENT"
Review 50:The house keeping service was not very good to clean the rooms in time and they did not clean in the evenings. Not good for a five star hotel of this standard
Review 51:The standard of breakfast had dropped compared when I first booked into the hotel in 2014. There were no cheese and bacon as previously served in the past. It would be wonderful to have a bath tub rather than an open bathroom. Uniforms for staff are so dull and not attractive. Why don't management introduces uniforms to resemble Fijian/Pacific way like hotels/resorts in the western side do.
Review 52:The location and cleanliness were so great. Staff were so helpful and nice. The suite was so immaculate. To all foreign travellers who are planning to visit Suva in Fiji, I recommend GPH for you to stay overnight.
Review 53:It was all wonderful...
Review 54:Wow what a great place to stay! Large and opulent, super friendly staff, great food. Rooms are large with great quality chattels, strong pressure in the shower and immaculately clean - couldn't fault it Free wifi in each room was fast. Will definitely be back
Review 55:Some staff were rude and uncooperative . One staff waitress in the lounge bar was particularly rude. I complained to the duty manager who was apologetic and made amends by giving me and my wife a free drink, which I thought was an excellent gesture .
Review 56:I liked the location and facilities
Review 57:very few water-activity and tour options; Suva is not a good choice for leisure trip
Review 58:Comfortable environment and good location for city sightseeing; nice hotel for business trip
Review 59:1, I waited for the room ready for more than 30 minutes after checking in. 2, my daughter got sick (vomiting) after the dinner. I am afraid that it was caused the food(lamb knuckle).
Review 60:I would have liked a few more options on the after hours room service menu and I would recommend that they include expresso coffee with the breakfast buffet menu
Review 61:Beautiful hotel, very attentive and friendly staff
Review 62:No facewashers in bathroom Nowhere to hang hand towel in bathroom Room service dinner average Room and bathroom was big but space not utilised effectively Easily see into bathroom from rest of bedroom which we found a little odd
Review 63:Friendly staff Big room Clean clean clean Location Treated the same way from check in to check out
Review 64:Had booked two rooms as we were treating our grandchildren, upon checking in we found out that only one room had been booked although two rooms had been confirmed. It took more than an hr before we were given another room on the same floor. Had to ring twice to get another towel in the room.Lack of attention to detailsin room re replenshing tea bags etc and cleaning up spilt liquids on floor around drinks area.
Review 65:bathroom, water everywhere after a shower n a bible by the bedside, otherwise a grand place to stay, luv to live there permanently, lol.
Review 66:location, size, staff, cleaniness, everything.
Review 67:Shower was not good and water sprayed all over the bathroom or runningout from shower area.Insufficient wardrobe hanging space for 2 adults and no drawers for other clothing. There were far too many hotel sales booklets on the TV/desk area which looked untidy and left not much room for guests personal items. The suite was lovely but lacked any warmth and there were a lot of empty spaces - need more pictures on walls. Senior management were not very personable or friendly and were often overheard berating staff.
Review 68:On arrival we were upgraded to a suite which was very nice and check-instaff were very friendly and escorted us to our room. Hotel public roomswere very tastefully furnished in original colonial style. The butler service was excellent and Sanath and his assistant were very friendly and efficient and made us all feel very special. The Fijian waiter in the Levuka Restaurant was amazing - very efficient and he even remembered the wine we liked 2 days later. All staff were well trained and very friendly including the ladies who maintained our room to a very high standard with flowers left.
Review 69:Breakfast is skimpy. Also, should have real coffee in rooms. One week stay and I got one complimentary bottle of water. Hotels in Vietnam, for example, give two a day.
Review 70:Cable internet connection - free and it worked well. Nice swimming pool.
Review 71:I visited Suva after 7 long years and staying at GPH was the best choice I made. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful. The service was world class and second to none. The hotel has great ambience, an amazing variety of cuisines and I truly felt like royalty. Thanks for the amazing experience at your hotel.
Review 72:Some of the uniforms worn by staff seemed very uncomfortable in the hot weather.
Review 73:The breakfast was fabulous! Staff were very friendly and accommodating .
Review 74:All the rain in Suva, that is the only complaint.
Review 75:The outstanding service from very good and well trained staff. My wife and I have traveled the world and this has been one of the top two motels we have stayed in.
Review 76:Staff always friendly and helpful. Could Comfortably walk to shops and restaurants or there was always a taxi if preferred, with us depended on the weather. Day spa was extremely relaxing And enjoyable, all three of us used their services, I even feel asleep during mine turn.
Review 77:This nearly 100 year old hotel that has been closed since 1992, has been completely redone and revitalised and is now a great masterpiece in Suva. Very high standard at a very reasonable price. Gorgeous ocean views and very friendly. management and staff. Great food. Very quiet and peaceful. Fast Wifi. Was a great pleasure to stay there.
Review 78:Because the hotel is so new the rooms feel a little sterile - especially the corridor - it reminded me of a university. A fully length mirror in the room would be great, along with lighting over the dresser.
Review 79:Beautiful hotel in an iconic Suva property. We were a little disappointed with the 'Ocean View' of our room given that friends were paying less then us for rooms with better views the hotel upgraded us to a suite without any hassle. We really appreciated their desire to ensure guests were happy. Breakfast is top-quality. Spa great. Car parking.
Review 80:For an 8 day stay I ould have expected my room FULLY services each day .... Vacuumed, bottle water, tea coffe re stocked with out asking, milk
Review 81:Wifi everywhere it needs to be faster to meet market conditions for business travellers
Review 82:Swimming pool Should moved from the current location No privacy as everyone is around the pool drinking
Review 83:Atmosphere White decor Very upper class presentation Most of all the GM was involved with the staff to make sure everything was at the best level
Review 84:The property itself was lovely - beautifully refurbished main building with a new addition for rooms. As I was traveling for business, the quality of the internet was important to me and it was first rate. Staff were exceptional - friendly and quickly responded to any request. Breakfast buffet was more than ample and the chef made the best eggs benedict I have ever had - perfect. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 85:Just a few small problems - servicing of rooms was quite slow and the mini bar did not get refilled in 3 days - also got delivered the wrong laundry one day but it was quickly rectified
Review 86:The hotel has been remodelled inside and now combines some of the classic features with a much more modern twist. The whole hotel was very clean and well attended. The breakfast was high quality and the food and drinks that we tried in the other restaurants were also top notch.
Review 87:DAY 1 : My partner and I recently got engaged and decided to stay at GPH for a lovely holiday .. Biggest mistake ever !! On arrival we were greeted very nicely and professionally by the staff, fresh drinks on arrival and a lovely cold towel to cool down with! We were so happy with the staff making us feel comftable and welcomed .. We paid a deposit which is normal but then were told to pay the rest of the money when we check out :/ ok we didn't think anything of it .. I put down a $500 deposit and signed some papers then was distracted by one of the staff telling us that we have a complimentary free massage and being told about the history of the hotel.. We were so excited to see our room that we forgot to ask for our receipt (not that we have to).. Anyways we had a great first night there and ordered food from room service which was disgusting, expensive and in small portions. Shower head was small and broken don't think about showering with ur partner and cheap pillows too soft to support ur head . The air con kept turning off by itself Was not happy at all! ..... DAY 2: we had a lovely buffet breakfast food was fresh and delicious After eating we left the hotel to go shopping with my family who lives close by. After returning to the hotel my partner and I went for a swim the pool was great ! We were getting bored because there's limited things to do at the hotel they only had golf and darts to play with .. BORING no night entertainment at all so we went to play golf in the premises my partner was given an old golf club by the staff and after a few hits the golf club broke and went flying in the air :| ok then obviously it was used before and was very old. The staff knew it wasn't our fault and they said Don't worry bout it to soon find out on check out that we were billed for the golf club that had broke .. We continued our holiday and walked around the hotel smelling sewage..
Review 88:The staff are very friendly helpful & professional .. Buffet breakfast was delicious .. That's it
Review 89:My only negative is that as it is newly opened, there were a lot of staff and not so many customers... it felt a little awkward swimming in the pool, as there were too many staff standing around. A small problem.
Review 90:Really enjoyed our stay - this classic colonial building has been exceptionally well designed and restored into a beautiful hotel. Lovely colonial features such as the wide spacious corridors and the large verandahs give it atmosphere and class. Lovely breakfasts. Cocktail happy hour was good value. Staff and service were great . I thought the simplicity of the pool was tastefully done. I hope they continue to maintain the high standard set.
Review 91:Having to pay for still water.
Review 92:All the extra little touches of excellence. The cookies with the turn down service, peanuts with your bar drinks, towels at the gym, splitting bills for extra dinner guests, free 10 min neck massage etc.
Review 93:Menu could have had more variety.no Heineken available, ran outa golf balls.
Review 94:Awsome new hotel.great service we'll trained friendly staff.great option for business or pleasure
Review 95:I booked a sea view but was given a pool view where the balcony feels like a cage. Changed when I complained. Room was a bit stark and very uninteresting. Food was so-so. Weather was all grey.
Review 96:Staff were cheerful and helpful. Bed was good. Shower was good.
Review 97:The Swiss/German management, particularly the manager. They were overbearing and arrogant. The manager bossed his very efficient local staff at every turn. He ordered us to order drinks when we sat relaxing on the veranda even though we didn't want any.
Review 98:The new fit -out in keeping with the colonial style, it was a beautiful building. Rooms and views were lovely. The open veranda and pool area was stunning. The local staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient, we loved our chats with them in the evenings.
Review 99:The location of the pool between the bar and tents for house band. Give the clients some privacies rather than swimming infront of everyone patronizing the bar or house band. The dress code for the staff is so dull......provide dress codes that demonstrate where we are...Pacific Way.
Review 100:First of its kind in Fiji and overseas to have a dedicated staff to clean our private cars where they were parked. The front desk receptionist whom I only knew from Rewa was so helpful, very charming and swift in serving clients. I commended her service to be excellent. Breakfast and dinner during the weekend were second to none. I will absolutely book at GPH in my next visit and this time in one of the suites.
Review 101:We would like to have seen potted palms inside the foyer area and around the outside dining area overlooking the pool. The garden out the front would also benefit from more native plants and trees. As a newly renovated hotel we realize this will take time to establish.
Review 102:Services & staff were excellent, polite & helpful. Our room was large comfortable & spotless. In all a lovely hotel to stay in Suva. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 103:the attitude of staff.. msgs left at reception were never delivered to the room. When requested to meet the sales manager to negotiate rates for my consulting team--it was ignored every time. Waiting time to be served was on average 30 mins
Review 104:the facilities and location was nice
Review 105:Food wasn't good Toilet wasn't clean when we first checked in. Urine on toilet seat. Spa massage and waxing was not good
Review 106:Did not stay long enough
Review 107:Only stayed for a night. Was great
Review 108:The family room is not family room. It is one big room with three beds.
Review 109:Location, cleanliness of room..
Review 110:very little
Review 111:Staff excellent, stunning renovation.
Review 112:Breakfast service was very poor...had to go around lookng for yr own tea and coffee..egss never came to our table even after ordering it.
Review 113:Food is not value for money
Review 114:House keeping services not best , had to follow up with them about restocking toiletries stuffs daily
Review 115:Facility

Review 117:Flies and insects, slow service
Review 118:The lighting ceremony during sunset
Review 119:nothing
Review 120:Cleanness & friendliness

Review 122:location
Review 123:Breakfast was average
