Reviews for Chalet Hôtel Le Prieuré

Review 1:Hotel bar and lobby was a great place for a beer. The cocktails and wine by the glasses was horrible. Stick to beer.

Review 2:Excellent lobby for relaxing with a beer. Staff kept the fireplace running all the time, which was cosy but it got crazy warm. Staff in the hotel ski rental was Excellent.

Review 3:Barman slow and too inexperienced Staff language skills not great Staff too junior Receptionist not overly welcoming - no hello and goodbye when coming in and out Jacuzzi not very hot and lights not working - generally dated

Review 4:Cosy lobby and fire Ski storage and boot warmers Double room

Review 5:Overall staff is good. Room was not ready at 3pm but at 5pm, as described.

Review 6:Close to downtown. Nice hotel with nice design and furtniture. Food in demi-pension was good.

Review 7:Not the friendliest staff, but willing to help when needed.

Review 8:Lovely place. Beautiful decor. Travelling with two young children and more than enough room in the triple room.

Review 9:Check in: we were told at 15:00, arrived at 16:15 and still had to wait until almost 17:00. Payment: I was charged at the time of reservation and again at check out so the hotel needed to refund.

Review 10:Modern, good location, good price (except breakfast and parking which was a little expensive).

Review 11:No tea and coffee making facilities in the room, not even glasses we had to buy our own cups.

Review 12:Location was excellent. Room was lovely and the view was fantastic. Would stay again.

Review 13:The lobby was everyday stinking of sweat. the room was not well equipped: no kettle, no shower kit, no beauty kit... Comparing this to the room price per day is definitely not acceptable.

Review 14:Ski room very useful and warm. Walking distance from city center and several skilifts

Review 15:The staff were always friendly and polite, even during a dinner rush where they were obviously understaffed that night. They more than made up for it to us the next few nights.

Review 16:very noisy throughout the night with lorries/tractors on the road removing snow. Disrupted sleep which was not good.

Review 17:new refurbished hotel with nice atmosphere

Review 18:We weren't happy with dinner which offer us during our stay in hotel. The dinner wasn't delicious because the main dishes was prepared before. One time we waited more than an hour for the main dish without reason.

Review 19:The location of the hotel was perfect. The manager & the receptionists was helpful. The breakfast was delicious, the beds was comfortable. Our room was with a stunning view.

Review 20:Restaurant and bar staff friendly but very inefficient unable to explain half board menu as couldn't speak English.Meat or Fish was the best description. They should print a menu. You can smell the barman when you walk in Reception !! Someone needs to explain personal hygiene to him.

Review 21:Location close to town and ski bus. The 400m from lift is accurate but it is up a very steep hill.

Review 22:First room had adjoining room door that we could hear everything from the next door and smell everything.

Review 23:Location and Staff were very help full. ski rental shop in the hotel was great.

Review 24:We went for Christmas and a lot of people were partying leading up to New Years therefore quite a lot of noise in the middle of the night between 2-5am. However I think this was only for new year! We did make a complaint on the night our sleep was disturbed and was given a refund for that night.

Review 25:Location amazing. Beds comfortable.amazing view of Mont Blanc.

Review 26:A few of the staff were so, so kind and helpful, but the front desk people were awful. They were so awful that it completely shadowed how nice the bar employees were. This is supposed to be a nice hotel where one would except some help with concierge type services or even courteous behavior, but when we asked for any help with anything, they always told us that they were too busy, had lots of work to do and it wasn't their job.

Review 27:The spa is very very small.

Review 28:The food has been excellent and plentiful (we had half board included). Very friendly staff. Location is very good, very close to city centre and very close to Brevent - the ski slopes. Highly recommended.

Review 29:A bit pricey, but everything is in Chamonix

Review 30:Half board was great and so was breakfast. Great view on the mont blanc Staff was fantastic, with a lot of attention

Review 31:Little bit of a very steep uphill walk to Brevent ski area but there again what isn't poorly connected to the ski in Chamonix, and here is probably as god as it gets anyway.

Review 32:Lovely big newly refurbished room Good buffet breakfast with Nespresso coffee! A very quiet location but right on the edge of the town centre.

Review 33:No bathroom amenities.. Just one shampoo. For a hotel this calibre, there could be more amenities.

Review 34:The staff is very friendly and courteous. The decor is very stylish and the location is perfect

Review 35:WiFi signal strength was poor. We had to stand next to the hallway door, or be in the bathroom, to receive a signal. Once connected, the internet speed seemed average.

Review 36:Very comfortable bed! They replaced all the mattresses in the hotel the week before we arrived. The mattress had a pillow top that made it luxurious! The room was clean and comfortable. The view from our balcony was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 37:Excellent location, very friendly and always ready to assist stuff, comfortable and modern design, spacy rooms, very good and varied breakfast, nice jacuzzi, where you can warm up after long walk. It was a joyful stay, highly recommend!

Review 38:Breakfast is not worth €17 because : everything is cold (even scrambled eggs and beans and bacon) ; No salad like tomatoes or cucumber and from 2 days no pancakes at all:( Not much to choose from if to be honest.. Bedding not changed in 4 days Reception didn't gave any information apart giving the town map and bus map :) And no English television which was surprising...

Review 39:Jacuzzi and souna amaizing!!!!Location is super!!!Rooms are clean but...no bedding changed in 4 days...

Review 40:Not really a complaint, but I should mention that toiletries are pretty basic (one of those hair+shower gels), so bring your own hair conditioner etc.

Review 41:The design of the property is superb, both the room and the common areas. The breakfast is great, with crepes made right there.

Review 42:the "spa" area was a disappointment: it is very small, old, comprised of a whirlpool, a sauna, and a steam room, and a couple of deckchairs. not a nice environment, needs refurbishment

Review 43:Nice room, comfortable bed, modern bathroom. Nice fireplace at the lobby

Review 44:They came to service the rooms at 6pm which was too late and not very useful. !!

Review 45:A good point to walk into the centre. Also close to the Brevent and Aquille du Midi lifts. Good breakfast

Review 46:The front desk staff never hesitated to answer any of my questions. They were all very cordial and friendly. The location was great, right next to the main pedestrian promenade. The room was clean and stylish. This was a great stay on my trip.

Review 47:The room was like the picture. Cosy, Lovely ...and that view. WOW amazing view on the Mont-Blanc and the Bosson's glacier. The sauna and jacuzzy were perfect after a day of walk.

Review 48:Staff not super friendly or welcoming. Our room wasn't ready (7pm) We dined but didn't get our wine even after multiple requests. The wine was locked in the cellar and no-one had the pass. The waiter wasn't trained

Review 49:Location, view, decor, price, breakfast

Review 50:Nothing really except if the chef is going to lose his cool regularly they will need to sound proof the kitchen door!

Review 51:The ambiance, the location and the friendly staff

Review 52:One of the staff serving breakfast was completely uninitiated in the business of serving a meal. We had coffee and an croissant and he placed the croissant directly on the table, not on a plate or napkin. More care in customer service could make a huge difference.

Review 53:The staff at the front desk was very nice, kind and helpful.

Review 54:Not to friendly for breakfast especially for muslim But it was covered by turkish kebab in 5 mnt walking

Review 55:Beyond expected Rooms was great, clean, cozy, best view

Review 56:We stayed for 3 nights however the cleaning and change of towels didn't happen on the second day, but probably because we were taking our nap during the noon till 16h, that they wouldn't disturb us. Also the wifi doesn't allow video-chat or download.

Review 57:I would say it's never really about the places, it's always the people. I have been to a few hotels in France and the staff always tried not to be very forthcoming, but the staff from Le Prieuré do really provide a sense of care for our stay and things we might need during the time, better than other 3-star hotels I have been in France. After all, the facility is easy to forget but the people and service matter and will be remembered for a long time.

Review 58:Expensive parking (so we parked down the road for 16€/day vs 36€), reception staff slightly cold

Review 59:Friendly restaurant staff, clean quiet rooms, nice morning buffet, top location

Review 60:no mini fridge no room service

Review 61:the location is good the staff are friendly and helpful i got a room at the 6th floor and the view was superb - it was really amazing!

Review 62:WiFi was a stop-go affair. It requires one to keep logging in after every 4-5 pages browsed.

Review 63:Great view of Mont Blanc Hotel lobby fireplace is a great place to end the day with a drink The location of the hotel is very accessible to the main strip in Chamonix

Review 64:Location is directly across from the cable car, impossible to get lost while wandering the shops which are just a block away. Room was large and spotless. Bedding comfotable. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 65:Spa was way too small for number of guests trying to use. Wifi not brilliant

Review 66:Warm welcome from Robert. Communal areas chic and comfortable Smart refurbished bedroom with very comfortable bed, excellent linen and great bathroom. Easy short stroll into town

Review 67:no kettle in the room but they said I should have asked and they would have provided one.

Review 68:The hotel has just been refitted and was fabulous. They had a free parking garage for our motorcycles and the staff were very helpful.

Review 69:The hotel was advertised as 4-star but on arrival had 3 - no problem with that, but we were wanting to use the sauna to prepare for a race, only it was turned off and had an 'out of order' sign on it. Also no bar fridge in the room which seemed odd. Great staff, underwhelming facilities.

Review 70:Good price, really friendly staff, great location, and comfortable too.

Review 71:The fact the sauna was out of order at the time I wanted to use it. But these things happen.

Review 72:Location, comfort and amazing views from the balcony. Lovely decor in the rooms too. Staff member Robert (I think) gave amazing help and provided excellent local information!

Review 73:Price of breakfast seemed a bit steep so we never actually tried it - lots of early morning cafes 3 min walk away.

Review 74:V friendly and helpful staff, excellent location (v short walk from montenvers train, Brevent and Aiguille du Midi cable cars, and all shops, bars, restaurants). Clean and comfortable room, nice sauna, steam room and jacuzzi area. Would stay again.

Review 75:Excellent value for money in Chamonix, 2 min walk from the pedestrian area and cable cars. The view over the glacier just stunning. Very helpful staff.

Review 76:Spa facilities were under maintenance at the time.

Review 77:The hotel was modern and very friendly. Bed was extremely comfortable and the cleanliness deserves a mention. The location was central but quiet.

Review 78:The car park is very tight we had a be polo and even that was hard to manover in there!

Review 79:Stayed there while we ran the UTMB great location for the event and getting into town.

Review 80:annoying wifi that constantly dropped out but a tiny thing in otherwise excellent place

Review 81:Recently renovated with real style. Interesting décor in reception areas and the bedrooms. Great views of Mont Blanc. Cool hammock terrace.

Review 82:There was no table/ desk in the room, no fridge or coffee/tea making facilities. There was no International English TV channel(s) available e.g. BBC

Review 83:Close to centre of town, also had a good view of the mountains. Comfortable bed.

Review 84:No variety for high breakfast buffet price (hot meals: only omelette and fried bacon), although it is not unique for Chamonix; My room had no table/chairs (there was enough space, so they'd likely bring something if asked).

Review 85:Perfect central location - quiet but close to everything (1 min. to main street with all shops and restaurants, 3 min. to Chamonix Centre bus station, 10-15 min. to train station/Aiguille du Midi lift/Planpraz-Brévent lift/Montenvers train etc.); Great Mont Blanc view; Isolated balcony with wooden side walls; Friendly helpful staff; Nice simple room; Spa facilities.

Review 86:the half board dinner choice was very liimited and not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel offer

Review 87:very smart modern decor throughout very well appointed rooms with a view of mont blanc

Review 88:The bed much to small and very low level to floor. Surpricing no table - no sitting chair in a new modern room style. Plenty of place for this.

Review 89:Lokation

Review 90:It was a shame that one of the saunas was out of order

Review 91:Great hotel! Recently renovated. Enthusiastic young staff, very competent and helpful. Excellent home base for visiting chamonix. Great food, even with half pension (highly recommended)

Review 92:The weather was wet and the hotel has no facilities to dry boots and clothing. I do not know how this works with skiers as we were there in a wet summer

Review 93:Location and view.

Review 94:Sauna was not working

Review 95:Staff were very friendly, we had special honeymoon gifts in our room, great location, free use of spa. The room was fantastic with view over mt Blanc, very spacious and comfy

Review 96:The breakfast american buffet is definitely too expensive for what it is! 17€ . The house cleaner was dusting while we were having breakfast! The restaurant was good quality food.

Review 97:The location of this hotel is perfect. Easy to reach the main activites within a walking distance.

Review 98:Wifi access and connection was terrible. Took forever to load Google and the timed out . Had to keep starting over and finally gave up.

Review 99:My view of the mtns and glacier was spectacular.

Review 100:The restaurant had no atmosphere. No kettle facility in the bedroom. The wifi was useless and even after assistance from staff we could not access it. Car parking too expensive.

Review 101:The location and the view from the room were excellent. The manager was very accommodating and made a lovely gesture by sending a complimentary bottle of champagne to our room when he found out that we had had no hot water the previous night and it was also my fiancées birthday.

Review 102:The view of the valley and Mt. Blanc were amazing. The room was spacious and clean with a great shower. I would have appreciated air conditioning given the 33 plus temperatures, but other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Review 103:Here are few sad facts about may stay at this hotel and why I don’t recommend it. 1. No air conditioning! You have to open the balcony window and listen to the cars and scooters outside - Have a nice SHORT night. And morning too! 2. Stinking air in the room - so without constant airing it was hard to stand it. 3. Impossible to connect to WiFi. Somebody made it as difficult as possible with a 9 points manual How To Connect. After all this effort - still no connection. 4. It took more than 20 mins to get hot water in the bathroom. 5. Not even a small bottle of water in the room.

Review 104:- Clean room and bathroom. - Friendly staff - In-house parkings. - Close to city center

Review 105:At the time of our visit (July 2015) it looked like they hadn't quite finished renovating. There was a big empty space in the lobby and our room wasn't totally finished (one shower room closed off, no wastepaper bin, hooks in the walls ready for pictures etc). We would definitely come back but we're afraid the prices will go up when they're 100% ready...

Review 106:Great location and nice decor in the lobby and the room. Top view of Mt Blanc from 5th floor south-facing room.

Review 107:Spa is poorly resourced -would not use- and breakfast could have been richer for the price.

Review 108:Amazing view, tasteful design, polite staff.

Review 109:The Spa area feels a bit dated.

Review 110:Very central location in Chamonix. Comfortable room.

Review 111:Hard beds. Drinks were exspensive.

Review 112:Good clean modern rooms. Log fire nice bar.

Review 113:For hot water need to wait 15min every morning, food was really bad, the heating is strange... inside all hotel +28 no air

Review 114:location, interior

Review 115:The hotel advertises WIFI throughout. This is untrue. Room 501 - and from speaking to other guests - others too, does not have WIFI.

Review 116:Spa Access to the room with the card does not work properly

Review 117:Position Furniture Room Setting

Review 119:Pleasant room and good food at breakfast.
