Reviews for Hôtel l'Aragon
Review 1:The room was small for the three of us. The reception staff would make a more professional and friendlier impression if they would stand to greet and serve guests, rather than remaining seated and largely hidden behind their high counter.
Review 2:Location very near the old town and convenience of parking were excellent.
Review 3:If anything we would have liked a small bar so we could finish our evening, at the hotel, with a glass of wine.
Review 4:Location to walled city was perfect. A nicely presented continental breakfast served in bright modern room. Great value. Very enjoyable stay
Review 5:The room was quite small and the bed as well. (My husband's feet were hanging). Also, the male receptionist who first received us wasn't the nicest. It was a bit expensive.
Review 6:The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's less than five minutes walk away from the medieval citadel of Carcassone. The bed was very comfortable and the whole place was nice and warm.
Review 7:Room on the smallish side so wouldn't want to spend too many nights. Not many visitors when we were there so it was quiet but we could tell that there wasn't much sound-proofing.
Review 8:The location next to the Cite was superb. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean and nicely decorated. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
Review 9:Location is excellent, just few steps away from main gates to old city of Carcassonne. Easy to get to by car, they have parking by hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. View from the windows are stunning overlooking the fort. Very quiet at night.... Breakfast is very good. Would recommend to stay here!
Review 10:Rooms a little small - fine for me but perhaps not if couple? Breakfast probably not worth 9€ but v. convenient and nicely presented
Review 11:Location Modern nature of the hotel Good value for money Great view from room of medieval city
Review 12:would have liked white coffee availability 24 -7 not just breakfast and a small bar for return to hotel in the evening.
Review 13:Clean ,organised and central to resort. Helpful reception.
Review 14:Nothing to fault
Review 15:Location was excellent, great to have parking right by the old city and so close to the hotel. Staff came back quickly on a query whilst I was in the UK and they were very friendly.
Review 16:The view from our room was excellent and the hotel was a short walk to the walled town. The staff were very helpful. I had lost my phone and the desk clerk made calls for me to try to track it down.
Review 17:No tea\coffee making facilities in room
Review 18:Lovely decor.spotlessly clean.quiet.near chateau.great views.welcoming staff.comfy beds.cosy pretty rooms.dont understand some of the bad reviews..what do these people want ?
Review 19:Was told that my card details would only be taken to reserve the room, but the first night's payment was taken on my card while we were there, without my permission. This meant that I also incurred charges for using my card abroad.
Review 20:The location was absolutely perfect and the staff were so friendly. Lots of choice at breakfasts.
Review 21:The location was excellent, just a short walk to La Cite. Facilities were excellent and parking was easy. We considered ourselves very lucky to have selected an excellent hotel in a very convenient location.
Review 22:Conveniently located aprox 100 m from the Citadel with a view delightful from our bedroom. Private car parking. Good breakfast. Comfy bed. The staff were friendly and helpful and could speak English. Receptionist spent considerable time in locating a doctor on a Sunday.
Review 23:Poor breakfast. Internet only worked at the reception area.
Review 24:Convenient location, just a few steps from the old city. Small room but very clean. Spotless bathroom. It's fine for one night.
Review 25:The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English which is a great help when your French is a little rusty. 10 minute walk to the old town of Carcassonne and hotel has a free car park.
Review 26:It would be good to have tea & coffee making facilities in the room & hooks on the bathroom door.
Review 27:Excellent location. Very friendly & helpful staff in a family run hotel. Tastefully decorated rooms, clean & tidy. Right next to the medieval city & within walking distance of the main town (30 mins). Excellent breakfast.
Review 28:Location to the town, The bathroom was excellent the bedroom a little small but ok. Very clean. Lots of local Bistro's with excellent choice and value for money
Review 29:The shower area needs a glass screen to be added as the floor tends to flood even with the shower curtain pulled across...could be easily sorted out...CHxxx
Review 30:The hotel and staff were awesome, going above and beyond their duties for me. We came to go to Andrew Weatherall's music festival and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Will definitely be returning. Much love to the Hotel staff. CHxxx
Review 31:Room was comfortable and reasonably sized. Decorations were very attractive. Hotel was strategically placed for visiting the walled city. Parking was free at the hotel.
Review 32:Room smelt a little musty but this was a very minor observation
Review 33:Very close to the Cite, 2 minute walk. Free parking, comfortable rooms. Pool to relax by after looking around. Good breakfasts
Review 34:The location was excellent, within easy walking to the city walls. The hotel was easy to find. The hotel provided its own car parking, right outside the hotel. The buffet breakfast was generous. The room was clean. Staff was helpful.
Review 35:Pillows were hard and that made the bed uncomfortable.
Review 36:It was close to the city which we wanted, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were good.
Review 37:Room was very small
Review 38:Location to Carcassonne City was perfect, literally 5 minutes away. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our car in car park until midday even though we had checked out.
Review 39:Rooms a little expensive for that category of hotel, and a bit on the small side.
Review 40:Wonderful location a few minutes from the old city. Pleasant staff. Great to have a pool at the hotel.
Review 41:The room was very small and overlooking the car park. There were no proper showering facilities only a hand held attachment over the bath. The member of staff who met us on our arrival was unfriendly and unhelpful.
Review 42:The location is very good, only a few minutes walk from the old town and if you are lucky enough to get a room in the front a view of the castle.
Review 43:Small room. Plastic glasses. No ice machine.
Review 44:Location is perfect for visiting the castle, easy walk to the main gate. Castle Shuttle train gives easy access to the main town centre. Breakfast was good .
Review 45:I had stayed there a few years ago because of its location. But what a difference! Very tastefully and recently decorated. Extremely comfortable. Excellent quality for the price.
Review 46:We absolutely loved Hotel L'Aragon. The view of Carcassonne medievel city directly from our room was perfect. The staff were so friendly, helpful and patient. Besides which everyone spoke english as soon as they realised how bad my french is but never made me feel unwelcome. Thanks for a great stay.
Review 47:Little choice of restaurants in immediate area. Some distance from Carcassonne City itself and as a stop over location not much to do in evening. Wouldn't rush back to the walled City again too crowded.
Review 48:Very close to walled city. Pleasant pool and poolside area.
Review 49:The room was too close to the corridor. Bit small than i expected, price is quiet high considering it is near the tourist attraction.
Review 50:Great location from the la cité, good wifi, good air conditioning, clean bathroom
Review 51:I travelled with two registered disabled family members. We were asked to move the car from the disabled area to round the back as two bus loads of very fit healthy cyclists needed to park there!!! Pointed out discrimination staff told me it wasn't !!!! Disgusted
Review 52:Location was excellent
Review 53:Lack of a bar and reliance on vending machines for drinks not ideal. Operated more as a B&B and probably relied on the bars and restaurants nearby, so probably fair enough.
Review 54:We loved the location right outside the old medieval city walls. The family room was good for 4 and the comfort and cleanliness of the room was excellent. The pool was great and I think a rarity that close to the centre. Was able to park right outside the door easily too.
Review 55:Air conditioning made the room too cold and when we turned it down it switched off so then the room was too hot. Also if you arrive after 6pm they charge your card.
Review 56:Comfortable bed , very clean, helpful and friendly staff
Review 57:The room was cramped The swimming pool was full of leaves etc The back door to the car park was locked meaning luggage had to be taken all around the hotel. There was no personality to the hotel or staff.
Review 58:The location was ideal for the old city
Review 59:The breakfast had the basics but wasn't amazing. Wasn't terrible either though!
Review 60:We loved the location of this hotel - only a short stroll to the Cité where all the good restaurants were. The pool was a great size and clean as were the rooms. Staff were friendly.
Review 61:Great location. We walked easily from the train station & only 5 minutes from entrance to The Cite. We were upgraded to a 1bdr room with heaps of space. It was quiet & breakfast was good.
Review 62:Small rooms but everything we needed for a short stay.
Review 63:The location was excellent for visiting La Cite. It was less than 5 mins walk to the main gate, also only 15 mins walk to the lower town. Very welcome air conditioning in room after a hot day sightseeing, and the swimming pool was a bonus too.
Review 64:WIFI in our room was weak and the iPhone couldn't connect at all. Signal is much stronger in the lounge near the front desk.
Review 65:Location says it all. In five minutes you can be having coffee and a pastry in the old town. Room was quiet.
Review 66:Room servicing was a bit haphazard. Continued short supply of toilet rolls could have been a problem! Bath/shower gel was empty when we arrived, I left it in full view of the cleaner for replenishment....and it was returned to it's was holder....untouched! Lack of a bar in the hotel was a disappointment and we didn't realise there was a swimming pool (hidden at back of hotel) untill the day before we left.
Review 67:Nice room with air conditioning that actually worked. Friendly staff. Location couldn't be bettered for access to the old Cite and a leisurely stroll of 10-15 minutes to Carcassonne town.
Review 68:The hotel is literally just outside the city walls. The room we had was small but perfect for our needs. There is a nice pool, which was welcoming after walking all day in very hot weather. Breakfast was plentiful! Would recommend.
Review 69:The rooms are absolutely tiny. Breakfast at 9 Euro is overpriced for the offering.
Review 70:Property is 3 to 5 minutes walk from the Narbonne Gate into Carcassonne Cite. Free parking.
Review 71:Unfortunately the sound insulation is poor and as our room was adjacent to the stairs the evening was disrupted until the other guests had retired.
Review 72:The castle is well worth a visit. Out room was of a generous size.
Review 73:All the staff looked happy and were so helpful be it wifi, gluten free breakfast, information. Hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Citadel and has free parking. Very clean and we had a very quiet room as asked for
Review 74:It wasn't an issue but had difficulty getting WiFi on the couple of occasions that I tried hence the average score for that section.
Review 75:The hotel was very easy to find plus free on site parking and in a perfect location, literally just over the road from the old city main gate. The hotel and rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was very good and staff friendly and helpful. Overall an ideal place to stay when visiting Carcassonne and good value considering the great location, etc.
Review 76:I got locked out at the pool! (By going through the wrong door). Even though the receptionist has CCTV, I wasn't rescued until my husband came looking for me.
Review 77:The proximity to Carcassonne (and free parking)
Review 78:Small bathroom and breakfast room but we would still go again.
Review 79:This Hotel could not be in a better location - it overlooks the old city walls. Very friendly, helpful and obliging staff. Our room was fine but the bathroom was rather small but the location is the thing. FREE car parking, as well as a great breakfast.
Review 80:The Wi-Fi in my room, 204, disconnected every 10 seconds. Also, there should be some way of identifying my egg which I've put in to boil so that some dolt won't think, "How convenient! They've put in an egg just for me!"
Review 81:Everything is very clean and well maintained.
Review 82:Nothing.
Review 83:Excellent location, just 5 minutes' walk up to the gate of the old (walled) city, and a pleasant 20-minute walk down to the river, the old bridge and across to the "new" town. Friendly/helpful reception staff. Plenty of choice of breakfast. Low price.
Review 84:No coffee making facility in room and no fridge. Musty smell in the room
Review 85:Staff helpful, Breakfast good value, Hotel itself smart and well kept in common parts
Review 86:The bathroom had everything you need but was very small
Review 87:The hotel decor was very stylish, French and comfortable, if a little petite. The location was perfect for what we wanted and the staff were extremely helpful. Parking was a bonus.
Review 88:room was small but clean and balcony a nice extra. Thought breakfast was expensive and would like to have seen it included in room price.
Review 89:Location, staff, were excellent and a easy stroll into city centre and a short walk to the walled city.
Review 90:was in a ground floor room and the window could only be opened fully, not happy at the thought that someone could gain access to the room this way, so found the room a bit stuffy.
Review 91:first time in Carcassonne and found that the hotel was in a super location just outside the old city walls
Review 92:The only small suggestions I would would be for a room safe and a kettle.
Review 93:Friendly and helpful staff, and a great location just a few minutes from the walled city. Terrific value for money.
Review 94:Nothing! The experience is pricey but we first had a good deal with the room and everything is cooked for you personally and as it was just the two of us we felt like kings!!!
Review 95:The location and the family who own the chateau are so friendly and could not of done more for us! I even asked for mint tea and had fresh mint from the garden! Wonderful!
Review 96:The room was small but we spent very little time in it so it was fine. Very clean with good decor and comfy beds. Good pool as well. Great little hotel. ideally situated for the castle.
Review 97:Room and bathroom was rather small as was bed
Review 98:The hotel decor was pleasing, and the room and bathroom were pleasant. Breakfast was good value. Free parking and wifi.
Review 99:Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, with the hotel located just below the old Cite. Breakfast was also good and only a short walk to all the restaurants with the city walls.
Review 100:No lift, but there is only 1 floor up. Talk to the staff if you cant use stairs for 1 floor. They were kind and offered us a room in the ground floor (im sure they ll do it if you need it).
Review 101:+ Location: very close to the old town. + Staff. + Easy parking at the hotel private parking (we were travelling by car). + The WiFi worked and was free. You only had to register prior to every login.
Review 102:The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had excellent wifi connection in our room. The continental breakfast had plenty of choice. Also the rooms were small but the beds were comfy and the shower was amazing.
Review 103:Well decorated room but no view other than a brick wall. Decor was very nice but fabric wall covering seemed dusty
Review 104:Very convenient for tourist attractions.
Review 105:Nothing, apart from slightly crowded breakfast room.
Review 106:Wonderful view of the castle from our room which we pre-booked. Great quality decoration and furnishings.
Review 107:A stone's throw from the walls of the citadel, and also a short walk to the new town with shops, museums, markets, etc. The decor gives a warm feeling of quality, the staff and friendly (and speak English) and plenty of parking behind the hotel. Everything you need
Review 108:Nothing negative, maybe wi fi reception not wonderful, room not overly big but no problem.
Review 109:Position was spot on for access to citadel, very clean, staff helpful, comfy bed, quiet position, breakfast fine.
Review 110:If we were being really picky then it would be the size of the bedrooms.
Review 111:Excellent location next to the old Cite. Beautifully furnished bedrooms ( although quite small ) Excellent breakfast Helpful polite staff
Review 112:WiFi rubbish! Needed to stand in the corridor or even at the top of the stairs!
Review 113:Great bathroom, water pressure fantastic! Good breakfast, pleasant room.Friendly staff.
Review 114:We reserved a room via booking.com and when we called the hotel the night of arrival they told us in a quite unfriendly manner (in the end the receptionist hang up on me) that there were no rooms available, even tough on the web page it said there were still five rooms left and the reservation had gotten through. I first thought it was a misunderstanding and asked him whether we could switch to English, but he apparently did not speak English at all. At the end we had to find a new accommodation within an hours.
Review 115:If you arrive late, you might not find parking in the hotel. The WiFi connection was very bad in our room (Number 105). The room is small. Very simple hair dryer.
Review 116:Nice room. Spacious bathroom. International TV channels. Good buffet breakfast. Free parking. Next to the "Cité" main entrance (Porte Narbonnaise).
Review 117:- No wifi in our room - No parking in front of the Hotel. However said, offered parking prive (covered) at no expense!
Review 118:- Location - Location - Location :-) - Clean, quiet, we had family room which was very spacy - Breakfast OK, a bit crowdy - Price/Value extremely attractive
Review 119:No dislikes, rather preferences as stated about jug and refrigerator etc.
Review 120:The location- very convenient- no need for a car The condition of room and hotel- excellent (I would have liked a refrigerator plus a jug and cups to be able to make a hot drink and to place milk or cheese etc. in fridge Breakfasts: fabulous Service: consistent and good
Review 121:Those with walking difficulties should be aware that it is based on a steepish hill, but hills must be climbed to reach the citadel from any direction. It has 30 bedrooms. All those we saw were small and very basic. Very little shelf space and no tea making facilities. Bathroom door one step from side of bed, not much privacy! No public rooms as such, no bar or restaurant and only a very small open lounge area where you could sit, beside reception. No lunch, dinners or drinks provided.
Review 122:Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable 9 day stay and would definitely use this hotel again. The location is excellent for visiting the Medieval Citadel, less than 100 metres or 3 to 4 minutes walk. 15/20 minutes walk to town centre and 30/35 minutes to railway station. Breakfast at €9 was quite acceptable. Available are juice, cereal, bread, croissants, toast, ham, cheese, various jams, and tea/coffee/hot chocolate. Pricewise, excellent value to be had at this time of year (November) The owners (husband/wife) were very much in evidence, staffing reception etc and were very friendly and helpful.
Review 123:WiFi for teenage son poor but perhaps that not a bad thing for a day or two
Review 124:Location, clean and plenty of hot water, good value,24 hour front desk, able to leave bags and staff were happy to order taxis, overall a basic but ideal hotel for a short stay on the doorstep of the cite and a 10 minute walk from the commercial centre of the new town
Review 125:Nothing!
Review 126:I loved this hotel. I went in the off season so everywhere was quiet which I expected. This is as central as you will get with a close up view of the cite. The room was beautiful, very well done. The bathroom was fabulous. The staff were very accommodating, helpful and friendly.
Review 127:Carcassonne. Lots to do and see in four days. Restaurants of the old Cite were great and the Hotel Aragon was in a great situation. Breakfast generous.
Review 128:Noisy, all night. room near reception. Lack of toiletries at the sink. Couldn't open curtains as opened direct onto carpark so no means of privacy.Ditto with opening windows.
Review 129:Location, few steps away from castle. Cleanliness. Great choice buffet breakfast. Good WiFi connection.
Review 130:Room was a little small
Review 131:The location is fantastic for the old city , right on the door step Good wifi, can't comment on breakfast as we never ate there. Swimming pool looked very clean and maintained
