Reviews for Chateau du Bois de la Lune

Review 1:We thought the room was a little Spartan, and the breakfast was quite poor. No sense of care or of hospitality.

Review 2:The building is impressive, beautiful even, but it felt a little uncared for, as the proprietor is based in Paris.

Review 3:It was not made clear to us on booking or on arrival that payment needed to be in cash. We thought we had infact paid via booking.com and it was only on leaving we discovered payment needed to be made in cash. This meant a trip to the bank - and effectively led to us missing our boat!! Highly recommend this place but just remember to bring ££££

Review 4:Everything! Particularly loved the sumptuous beds and the jacussi.

Review 5:Beware in August many restaurants in Evreux close for 2 weeks for the main French holidays. Your choice of places to each may be limited.

Review 6:Beautiful building and enormous room. The breakfast was generous, although continental. The owner was very helpful booking us a wonderful restaurant in Evreux for our evening meal.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:The setting, gardens, room decor, and welcome from Rosaline & Eric, and the two Golden Retrievers. Rosaline booked us a Restaurant & taxi easily.

Review 9:The room was very comfortable and had everything one could need for a short - or long stay. Our hosts were charming, informative and willing to give tips on places to visit and eat. We did not use the spa - but it is always good to leave something for another visit!

Review 10:The perfect place to stay if you are visiting Giverny or other sights in this area. Our room was very large and comfortable, the grand country home was both beautuful, historical and peaceful, and the owners were perfect hosts. The home made croissants had us coming back for more.

Review 11:Very nice chateau and full of history. Lovely madam, friendly golden retrievers. Best croissant on breakfast ever! Clean rooms, comfy beds. Absolutely recommend, will be back if in the neighborhood.. :D

Review 12:Would be great to also have wifi connection in the room but understand this is being arranged.

Review 13:Beautifully renovated chateau with lots of attention to the detail and quality. We enjoyed a warm welcome and little tour around. Must be lovely in summer when you can enjoy the garden to the fullest.

Review 14:Car/Taxi required to get to town for restaurants

Review 15:Room was immaculate Room was attractively appointed Bath was modern Grounds were beautiful Area was gated and secure parking Owner was helpful, available and very pleasant

Review 16:There is absolutely nothing to complain about. Absolutely nothing.

Review 17:The people and the chateau are faultlessly superb as an opportunity to experience France at its best. The location is excellent - quiet and secluded but within easy reach of local towns and facilities. The guest accommodation is the perfect and difficult blend of traditional French with luxury but not over the top.

Review 18:Fabulous characterful room with modern en-suite. Excellent hosts, good breakfast and a great location. Good linens and extremely comfortable bed. Wish we could have stayed longer

Review 19:We found the drive into Evreux, the nearest town, somewhat confusing but that may well be down to the lack of a satnav!

Review 20:Madame Bonleu was very welcoming, sociable and helpful with restaurant recommendations, places to visit and crucially with directions ! The chateau, beautifully set in splendid gardens, is located quite close to key routes. The bedroom was tastefully and quirkily decorated reflecting no doubt the skills of Mr Bonleu, a professional architect, and Mme Bonleu's discerning taste. Breakfast was classic French with first class croissants and breads as well as fresh fruit and yoghurt.

Review 21:Lovely ambiance. Owners spoke excellent English and were very helpful in suggesting places to visit and to eat. Great sleep with lovely crisp white duvet linen. Shower to die for in our room.

Review 22:The breakfast could have been more expanded, with cheese, or ham, or an egg. Now, there was only jam.

Review 23:The hosts were wonderful, the room was very nice and large and the environment was very nice.

Review 24:The beauty of the house and the garden and the warmth of the hospitality. It's a wonderful place to break a journey on the way back north through France - only 2 hours from Calais.

Review 25:It was quite difficult to find and access.........

Review 26:Very comfortable, spacious room, beautifully presented. Very welcoming.

Review 45:Really friendly and helpful, with excellent rooms for our young family. It was just an overnight stay but we decided to stop there again in two weeks time.

Review 46:No milk for the tea (we are English, after all).

Review 47:The fact that we were left in peace to eat a supper we had brought with us (because we were unsure of time of arrival) in a very comfortable, well equipped little kitchen/dining room. Provision of tea ( the drink).

Review 48:Although not mandatory, it is said there is Wifi in the room, this is not the case. Have some bacon and eggs at breakfast would be nice :)

Review 49:Welcoming host. Nice and comfortable room arranged with good taste. The location with castle as the picture shows. Very calm. Breakfast 'private' room very convenient. There is nothing you can be disappointed with (rare) whch is what you expect with that room price.
