Reviews for Les Clairions

Review 1:The staff was friendly and gave us information on where to park for the best visit of auxerre The hotel was easy to get to from the autoroute but far away from it to avoid noises

Review 2:I am handicapped by arthritis and the facilities for such guests are very poor, even though the hotel is nice (but in need of modernization). A small lift, a dangerous ramp by which it is necessary to reach the lift (which starts on the 1st, not the ground) floor. But the manager told me that the hotel is about to be thoroughly modernized and I'm sure that it will be fine after that.

Review 3:Our only complaint, being picky, was that it was impossible to turn the heating down in our room.

Review 4:We liked the fact that we could enjoy a good dinner in the restaurant. We ate there both nights we stayed.

Review 5:On booking I stated that my husband had limitied mobility. The disabled access within the hotel is lamentable, lots of steps which in some cases had no hand rails, one access ramp out doors and the internal one too steep and narrow to be accessed by an independent wheel chair user. The attitude of the staff was poor with no help or acknowledgement of needs given. We will not recommend or stay again.

Review 6:Close easy access to auto route, easy to find. Accommodated my gluten free diet well.

Review 7:Breakfast very poor. Sorry we didn't go to Macdonalds next door. Appearance very dated, needs a lot of TLC.

Review 8:Very convenient for a stop over from the south of France on the way to Paris

Review 9:Old dated rooms hotel badly needs a makeover

Review 10:Easy to find from auto route No fuss at check in Swimming pool handy for kids after long day on the road

Review 11:The balcony floor really did need replacing and was very uneven with weeds growing between the tiles. The cups were plastic and did not hold enough tea.

Review 12:Easy to find. Straight off of the motorway. The staff were nice but didn't give directions to our room. It was on the fifth floor so you had to go in the lift to fourth floor and then walk one flight to the fifth. Outside was very nice and the pool looked inviting. The main part of the hotel was good. The room was clean.

Review 13:Air con didn't work very well and don't like coffee from plastic cups.

Review 14:Good location to town centre , supermarkets and places to eat.Free parking in site was great and a bonus was the fridge and free wifi

Review 15:Hotel could use a little updating, but as it is, it is a great stay for your money.

Review 16:Friendly staff with great service and awesome breakfast. Rooms were very clean and tidy. Hotel is a bit old, but well maintained. Bathrooms were very clean.

Review 17:Rooms are out datet. Toilet is flexibel at the wall and almost hanging on the floor. Could need a renovation.

Review 18:Good location and in the summer the garden is a nice place to stay after work.

Review 19:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 20:The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice and was served in pleasant surroundings. We especially recommend the excellent restaurant. The food was really good and not horribly expensive, considering the quality it offered. We would certainly stay there again.

Review 21:It's obviously built and operated to a price, so things are OK but general quality could be a bit better.

Review 22:Easy parking available as it's outside the town (1km). Clean.

Review 23:Hotel is well out of the centre of Auxerre in a kind of trading estate, which does though have a lot of chain restaurants open in the evening. The building is unattractive both externally and internally, but the room was comfortable.

Review 24:The proximity to the motorway to Paris. Plenty of restaurants around (but only the big chains and a lot of fast food).

Review 25:The air conditioning was a little noisy but didn't actually disturb us once we were asleep. The hotel, although clean, was a little run down in places. None of this would prevent us from staying there again though.

Review 26:We stayed overnight on our way to the south of France. We were particularly struck by the friendliness and helpfulness of staff. We enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant and breakfast the next morning was very good too. In our opinion a perfect hotel for an overnight stay -- and maybe to stay longer some time and explore the area.

Review 27:the bed was quite small. there was no Air conditioning and it got quite warm at night. Breakfast at €10.50 was far too expensive. We ate at a cafe en route for only €4.50 The toilet was for kids. Very low and awkward. Plumbing was old. No tissues provided.

Review 28:Dinner was just ok. The house wine was poor although the less expensive was the better of the 2 whites offered.

Review 29:Rooms very dated in their decor which makes it look a little grubby, paying in advance for the whole stay.

Review 30:Friendly welcome, quiet room, The orange juice machine at breakfast, plenty of parking. nice powerful shower next to 5 restaurants and a short drive into Auxerre.

Review 31:Ras

Review 32:La situation geographiqe

Review 33:bath towel smelled bad a bit...

Review 34:close to motorway(A6) confortable mattress

Review 35:The Restaurant is excellent. Thé staff is very nice. Value for money

Review 36:Small room

Review 37:Good restaurant with fixed menu Easy parking

Review 38:Great bed, good breakfast, good price, free parking and quick wifi. What's not to like

Review 39:The evening meal was excellent far exceeded expectation

Review 40:Pleasant room. Quite central to the old town

Review 41:The hotel was excellent, clean, and staff helpful. Slightly out of town, so a car was needed. A good spot for just a one-night stopover

Review 42:That the restaurant was only open 1 of the three nights we stayed.

Review 43:Large suite

Review 44:Excellent restaurant.

Review 45:The restaurant and service was superb, one of the best meal ever eaten in France

Review 46:Air conditioning problems again, but the staff did everything they could to help, even changing our room.

Review 47:Very smart hotel

Review 48:Great all round service

Review 49:Air con, no food.

Review 50:Swimming pool

Review 51:a bit far from center

Review 52:swimmingpool staff was very kind!!!

Review 53:The staff were very helpful. There dinning staff very helpful and friendly. The food was a high standard .

Review 54:all clean and inviting, enjoyed our stay

Review 55:Pool, good parking, some restaurants nearby

Review 56:food, accomodtion, noise,...

Review 57:Nothing

Review 58:All very ordinary and a bit tired.

Review 59:Able to pass the night.

Review 60:style a bit outdated. temperatuur in the room was like too hot. there was a watercooker but just one tea-bag. no instant coffee.

Review 61:nice travel hotel. cheap, comfortable and silent. rooms not too small, good shower and bath. some restaurants nearby. car can safely be parked in the garage. good wifi. friendly staff.

Review 62:We booked a suite for our 10 year anniversary. When we arrived Friday, we had to pay the suite in advance for a week. After entering the suite, we realized it smells very bad (smoker, not just one smoker, but the entire suite smelled). When we asked to change the room, we were told there is no other room available. Only after insisting, they showed us another suite, which also smelled and was in worse condition (really run-down carpets, yellow stains at wall and ceiling (from smoking?), mould not only in bathroom but also on ceiling. We then asked again for another room, only to learn that they did not have any more suites. We then agreed to stay in a lower standard room that looked more or less ok (only a bit mould in bathroom and no cigarette smell). But we wanted to change the hotel, since we wanted a bit more luxury for our anniversary. The staff in the hotel was unable to tell us whether we would get our money back if we go to another hotel. The manager was only available Monday. So, we stayed in the room until Monday and were expecting to change hotel Monday and get the prepaid money back. It turned out that the manager only was available as of Monday night. So, we had to return Monday night to get the money back and to settle the bill. The hotel charged us the suite for three nights even if we were in a lower quality room. It is really incredible that there is no deputy manager and nobody in charge for several nights. It also felt like stone age that we actually had to go back to the hotel to get the money transferred back to the credit card. And the fact that they charged us the price of the suite is just really cheeky.

Review 63:free parking, located next to industry area with lots of shopping opportunities. Nice landscape, quiet at night.

Review 64:The bed was very hard. In order to get from the reception desk to the elevator you had to drag your luggage up a very narrow steep ramp or carry it up a flight of stairs. I almost fell backwards going up. There was no hand rail. Going down the next morning was also a challenge.

Review 65:The location was very quiet but still convenient to the highway.

Review 66:the setting and appearance of the hotel, courtesy and manner of the staff, restaurant, quality of food and service, bathroom very clean, room totally quiet. Location of hotel is excellent for leaving and rejoining motorway

Review 67:Bar was unstaffed. We were told it was open, but we left after 5 minutes with no one coming to wait on us. Decor, especially in the bathroom, was tacky.

Review 68:Plenty of space

Review 69:Well situated for touring stop between Alps and northern France in Wine Country. Comfortable and good breakfast. Nice artwork everywhere. Easy to find.

Review 70:Poorly lit and unventilated corridor leading to room; the rooms may be non-smoking but the corridor certainly wasn't as it reeked of stale cigarette smoke! The room was adequate but 'tired'; the loo seat had definitely seen better days. Our night's sleep was disturbed by rowdy guests returning late. And the shower ran loudly in the next room for at least 20 minutes at 3:00 am. Not all aspects directly under the control of the hotel, of course, but we weren't sorry to leave. And don't think of walking into town; it's not the distance but lack of footpath on a busy road. Also, this is the first hotel anywhere we have stayed in Europe this summer where we had to pay in full on arrival.

Review 71:Plenty of parking space. And easy to find AFTER we had read what others on booking.com had said about the hotel's published address being misleading.

Review 72:The breakfast was very good with a variety of foods to choose from. There was also freshly squeezed orange juice and a choice of teas. Everything was fresh. The rooms were large and comfortable. The pool was a great way to wind down after a very long drive.

Review 73:Unfriendly staff. Repeated requests at breakfast for food to be restocked. As Family room was required, it was necessary to have two interlocking rooms at double the price of a normal room

Review 74:Close to highway

Review 75:Nothing-other than decor a bit tired but perfectly ok given all the pluses mentioned opposite

Review 76:The hotel is convenitly situated just outside the town.Rooms are clean and well equiped if a bit dated. Comfortable beds and aircon .Clean heated good sized swimming pool and sun bathing areas, tennis court and car parking . Didnt eat in hotel but all looked ok and reasonable prices. Lots (5)of chain restaurants in very close walking distance(2 mins) and Brasseries and restaurants 5 mins away in town centre by the river.

Review 77:The terrace needs to be maintained.

Review 78:We had a luxurious suite with plenty of space together with a large terrace. There was also a swimming pool with plenty of sun beds. The restaurant was excellent. All the staff were very friendlyy and helpful.

Review 79:Actual street address for gps isn't what is listed on Booking.com.Should be Rue De Worms or use the real gps coordinates to help.

Review 80:Good value older style business type hotel, lots of parking, close tomajor highways, great food in restaurant.

Review 81:Great difficulty finding the hotel. The address in my gps put it some way away. Better if the address was listed Rue de Worms rather than somewhere off a freeway.

Review 82:A very nice hotel. Clean with good staff. Rooms well up to standard. Very very good restuarant attached tothe hotel.we would stay there again.

Review 83:Decor in room was dated and showing signs of wear and tear. Breakfast was just adequate. Nowhere near the same standard as the evening meal.

Review 84:Excellent service. Spacious room (suite). Warm, friendly staff. Evening meal in restaurant was excellent.

Review 85:Hotel clean but very dated, needs upgrade to 21st century

Review 86:Great for stop over after long haul flight. Good restaurant on site, shopping mall less than 1km away

Review 87:This was quite a "find" where we will be returning many times. Fabulous location, friendly staff, great rooms and a superb restaurant. What else is there?

Review 88:We chose this hotel over others as it was advertised as having a heatedpool - it was freezing! However, as it happened, the day was hot, aswere we after several hundred kilometers on our motorbike, and the'refreshment' was welcome!Quite a walk into town - uphill on the way back!

Review 89:Handy stopover. Free parking. A bit taken aback with the location whenwe first saw it and we thought it would be noisy. However it turned outto be quiet enough, both sitting out in the evening and in the room andwe got a good night's sleep.

Review 90:Very well kept property, great for stop over on the way to Paris coloseto the city center with restaurants around. Rooms of good size andcomfortable and well equipped. Very good rates and hotel staff are veryfriendly. Free speedy wifi was of great help

Review 91:Pretty average hotel. We chose it because of the pool and location on the way to the south of France. The staff were Ok - not very warm. The room was functional motel but clean and quiet. Pool good and free tennis courts a big plus for the kids.

Review 92:Could have made the outside dining more attractive. Compared to inside restaurant it was poor. No table cloths, decor etc

Review 93:Convenient stop on ou way back to Calais. Restaurant quite good, room acceptable for price.

Review 94:Limited choice for restaurant and quite expensive for what is on offer, but, 200m across the road is a "Buffalo Grill" and the food there wasgood price and excellent. The breakfast at 10.50Euro was limited, therewas a toast machine but no bread for it. Egg cooking machine with coldwater at 9:00o/c (took 20 minutes to warm up) Only one type of freshcheese on offer. The first cup of cvoffee was just warm. Apart from thateverything ok.

Review 95:Just off a main road but extremely quiet. Very comfortable room andpolite staff. Good car parking facilities and safe.

Review 96:The hotel is a little dated.

Review 97:Very convenient stop not far from the motorway. Great to have the swimming pool to relax in after our long drive and an excellent dinner on the terrace afterwards.

Review 98:Breakfast was overpriced for what it was, we went out and got breakfast.

Review 99:Really liked the pool, easy location, easy to find, in a nice part of France. Restaurant in hotel was superb, really nice food and at a good price

Review 100:We used it as an overnight stay on our way to the south of France. It is close to the motorway and the swimming pool is a welcome refreshment for children having travelled all day. The hotel has a restaurant, but staff were very accommodating when we asked if we could eat in the bar area as we wanted to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics. The hotel was very quiet; no sounds from within or outside the hotel, which gave us a very good night sleep.

Review 101:Clean and nicely priced hotel that met our requirements as a stopover onour journey back from the Alps. Located near the Autoroute a6, we (2adults / 3 children) enjoyed this hotel for the night. We also tookadvantage of the pool and tennis courts.

Review 102:Is situated about 1.5 miles outside the town centre. Not as central ashad hoped. Also on the edge of a commercial district, not verypicturesque.

Review 103:Convenient stopover hotel. Breakfast was excellent, with a lot ofchoice.

Review 104:It's not the most pittoresque environment (near RN6) but for 1 night it's perfectly acceptable.

Review 105:The rooms are very basic (comparable to Campanile) but clean. It was a perfect hotel for a 1 night stay: good bed, good dinner, good breakfast (fresh orange juice).

Review 106:The room we were in was in need of updating, although everything worked,it was obvious that it had been in use for a number of years. That saidit was a comfortable stay

Review 107:Good hotel , very comfortable .

Review 108:Best place to stay on the road near Auxerre and for visiting the Chablis area. Large, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and good breakfast. This is a "business" hotel, perched on the outskirts of a growing zone of activity, with lots of road style restaurants within a short walk. Staff speaks English and likes to do that as well. I'll return this summer just for the stay, and dip in the pool. Good road stop before reaching Paris at about 200 KM north

Review 109:slightly outside town

Review 110:swimming pool

Review 111:Air conditioning out of service. Room too hot !!!

Review 112:at night quiet location good breakfast

Review 113:The hotel has a musty smell but the room was very clean. Breakfast not included and quite expensive

Review 114:Friendly staff even at a late hour

Review 115:This hotel is well and reosanably equipped. It was very quiet. There are lots of restaurants in the area. Excellent breakfast.

Review 116:friendly staff free parking outside door

Review 117:Limited evening menu.

Review 118:Perfect location, dog friendly, comfortable & warm. Staff very friendly. Very good secure parking.

Review 119:awkward to reach

Review 120:breakfast; extras with dinner

Review 121:The room was stuffy and hot!

Review 122:The staff were very helpful when we needed anything. They made our anniversary very special.

Review 123:Lack of internet security. Did not use.

Review 124:The hotel was a convenient and comfortable overnight stop-off on our journey home from holiday.
