Reviews for Le Castellan
Review 1:No electrical sockets in the room. To charge up a phone you have to unplug the TV. That's the only power outlet other than in the bathroom. It's the 21st century; people have gadgets........WiFi was useless. Network data reception was much better.
Review 2:Refurbished and in very good condition. Breakfast was very good and location is excellent.
Review 3:it just really needs a renovation - the bathrooms are ancient, the type of place where water goes everywhere from a flimsty shower curtain. Breakfast was OK but have had much nicer ones in other properties in Chatel.
Review 4:the location was good, the staff were nice and it is super clean with good parking facilities. WIFI is ok.
Review 5:Bathroom is very simple, beds were not so comfortable. The entry area seems to be refurbished but the rooms seem a bit old, though nicely decorated.
Review 6:The hotel is old but very nicely and lovely decorated which makes up for the old furniture and carpets. Staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good, not too big choise. For a two star house you really get a good deal.
Review 7:The resort of Chatel is great but the lifts are up a hill and a 100m walk (if you leave hotel by bus). For my wife and for the children it was quite a struggle through the streets carting the skis. But this would not put us off the resort or hotel but's worth knowing before you go. We hired skis in ski set (a cousin of the hotel owner) their shop is within 100m of the lift and we kept our skis there over night. This worked well, you would not really want to trek your kit from the hotel every day.
Review 8:This is a two star hotel and compares very favourably with many apartments/hotels of a similar standard and certainly was far more spacious and comfortable than similar in the 3 valleys. The staff were excellent and the breakfast good (no hot food).
Review 9:WiFi went down ..not a fault of the hotel but a problem with the phone company in the area
Review 10:Christel wad a fantastic host. Food portions were huge and great. Room 8 was ideal and it's a short walk to the ski lifts. Hire your skis at Charles skiset .. they are related. Will go again .. they take bookings for any day not just Saturday to Sunday.
Review 11:I would like to have had tea making facilities in room but considering the overall stay think its only a minor point.
Review 12:Location. Balcony with excellent views. Very friendly staff. On site parking. Good size rooms. Walking distance to main ski lift and town centre bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.
Review 13:Very helpful staff
Review 14:Lack of hairdryer No full length mirror No tea making facilities

Review 17:Maybe a little pricey for what it is
Review 18:Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 19:Very close to the centre of Chatel. Lovely big room with bath and a separate lavatory. Fabulous view over the valley.
Review 20:Good location, nice people. Very rustic and traditional

Review 26:Excellent restaurant and very friendly staff. Great value for money.
Review 27:Rooms looking a little tired. With a little updating this could be great. But keep it traditional and cozy!
Review 28:Location Breakfast Staff Public rooms
Review 29:reception not manned and bell not heard
Review 30:Excellent view, comfortable room.
Review 31:none
Review 32:excellent location thanks for the great stay, don't miss the market in the village
Review 33:Bed too small. No tea/coffee/fridge in room
Review 34:Very cute Alpine decor throughout the hotel. Location close to Chatel shuttle stop and village - ESP if you take the lift through the town centre carpark instead of walking uphill!
Review 35:The bar closed quite early. The thing I was very very confused anddisopointed with was the hotel charges. My girlefriend and I were with agroup of 10 other friends who were charged 22 euros per night less thanwe were ?????
Review 36:Everything was very good.
Review 37:We had a car to drive to the ski slopes which you would need as it's not near the ski lifts
Review 38:Enjoyed our short stay immensely. Would def go back. Good food pleasant staff, nice room
Review 39:- No AMEX is accepted, but I don't blame them, common problem...confusing though that Booking.com accepts it and the hotel doesn't. - Location on the B.com map was inaccurate, and guess what, it wasn't better. - There was no running water in the morning, staff didn't seem to care much. No effort whatsoever to compensate or apologize, not even the smallest gesture was made. - Even though the season had started (22nd dec.) the staff seemed to still be in hibernation mode.
Review 40:Bed was pretty decent, room was clean, wouldn't like to stay longer than a few days though. It's all a bit scruffy. I frequently visit Chatel, there are better places. Do visit for an unforgettable experience.
Review 41:Swimming pool in Chalet was closed because of reconstruction.
Review 42:Very friendly staff Spacious room with really large bathroom Very good breakfast, fabulous dinner (a la carte) Barrier-free access Quiet location near the town-centre Magnificent views Services above the official 2 stars rating
Review 43:The room was a little musty when we walked in and we aired it out. Thebalcony across the front had no dividers and, therefore, at night wefelt a little unsafe leaving the slider open for fresh air. There wasway to stop the door being opened from others with balcony access.. Nowindows in the room so that was not an option.
Review 44:The hotel was very quiet in light of the time of season. There wereonly a few other guests. It was conveniently located within easywalking distance of the town, restaurants, and had plenty of parking.Very much a "swiss cottage" type of hotel with typical décorof the style
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:This hotel is so under rated. Our room, the Chanterelle was so warm and cosy yet spacious. We had a big shower room with an amazing shower - just what you need after a day on the slopes. The hotel bar is very friendly and well stocked and the restaurant cooks lovely food. Cannot praise this hotel enough.
Review 47:very very nice, if you want to live in a countryside, and enjoy sun, it is a good hotel.
Review 48:Great Budget Option
Review 49:NOTHING !!
Review 50:It was spotless -warm - friendly - a wonderful welcoming hotel-
Review 51:For what you get it was very expensive.
