Reviews for Hôtel Central

Review 1:great location, excellent value for money, , clean, The owners are wonderful, very helpfull, had a great nights sleep.. and felt welcome by the owners, it is basic . but has all that you need . and is incredibly clean, i only pass through carca but i will stay here everytime,

Review 2:Nothing!

Review 3:The warmth of the welcome and the obliging nature of the staff during and after our stay. The anger offered to store our bags at the hotel when we returned to Carcassonnea week later.

Review 4:I know the breakfast was usual for France (baked pastries [which were good!], cheese, deli meat slices, yogurt), but I wish there was some fresh fruit included.

Review 5:The location was wonderful, the comfort and cleanliness was great, and the owners were very nice and helpful (the wife recommended a special pizza place within the walls of La Cite which we ended up trying out and super enjoyed, the husband never gave up to help us connect to the WiFi with the English/French language barrier between us).

Review 6:The room was quite compact with few power outlets, not sure how TV. worked. Very fine curtains didn't prevent light coming in. No lift.

Review 7:Staff were very helpful and accommodating by starting breakfast a little earlier to suit our time departure.easy walk to rail station, shopping and eating venues as well as to old city. Better than staying up up in the old city.Good basic breakfast.

Review 8:Rooms was small but it was very clean and we had chosen a budget price hotel so no complaint really.

Review 9:Welcome and assistance from staff was excellent and very helpful.

Review 10:the noise in the hotel was pretty bad, we could hear everything, i mean,,,everything. Breakfast was OK, a bit expensive for what you get

Review 11:Stuff were kind and friendly. The hotel is generally clean

Review 12:The couple that run this hotel are among the nicest people we met during our three weeks in France. They went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our brief stay in Carcassonne - helping us select restaurants, helping us find our way around and even helping me find a good barber. The hotel is nicely located for access to both the old and new parts of the city. Our family room was basic but was spacious, clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Central again.

Review 13:Good location, 10 minutes walk to the "Cite", 5 minutes from the town & bars/ restaurants. Friendly staff, comfortable, clean, good sized rooms-but don't expect the Ritz

Review 14:We had 3 rooms, and the AC didn't work in any of them. We reported this to the owners. They checked and tried to convince us that the feeble airflow from the vent meant the AC was on. We had to keep the windows open, with street noise outside. The bathroom fixtures were also old and in need of replacement.

Review 15:Easy access to center and to old city. Parking in front was free on Saturday pm and Sunday, not sure how it works during the week. The owners try to be helpful.

Review 16:On a main Boulevard with a restaurant next door it was noisy at night with the windows open. Noise was find with them closed but it was then rather hot.

Review 17:Location, cleanliness, very friendly and helpful hosts

Review 18:Great location. The owners Claire and Didier were fantastic, very friendly and helpful, especially with regards to good local restaurants bars etc. The room was pretty basic, but very comfy and spotlessly clean. Good brekkie too

Review 19:Nothing major.

Review 20:The hotel is very well located in the new town, close to the rail station and the main square. The Cite is only a 10-15 minute stroll away. The reception staff were lovely and gave us some great recommendations for cafes and sites. Also very kindly took our baggage to our room. The rooms are not flash, but have all you need and, in a first for us in France, offer more than one pillow per person!

Review 21:This is a basic but quaint hotel in a very good location, just a few minutes walk to the old city. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of food and good coffee. The family room was large with a double and three single beds with room to spare and it was spotlessly clean. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and gave us excellent advice on good places to visit and places to eat. We would definitely return to stay at this hotel again.

Review 22:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great recommendation on where to eat and what to do. The room was very clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money. Excellent customer service. The whole stay was fantastic.

Review 23:Friendly staff even though they do not speak much English all ran smoothly. Well located and they suggested a really good restaurant across the road. Short walk to town, railway and canal. Our second stay there and we will be back if ever in the area again

Review 32:Quite noisy near a main road.

Review 33:Good location near to the old city.

Review 41:Friendly service.

Review 44:Nothing

Review 46:Room was showing its age.

Review 47:Room size was pretty good. Manager was friendly and helpful.

Review 48:Close to station and bastide

Review 49:Its takes only 5 mins walk to the train station, so very suitable for people with luggages and visiting Carcassonne by train.

Review 50:location and space

Review 70:Decor

Review 71:Value for money No frills Helpful Very central

Review 72:The beds are uncomfortable.

Review 73:Location is very good - 10 minutes walking from the fortress.

Review 74:all of it.

Review 75:Staff, location, service, value

Review 76:Room was a little tired

Review 77:Location Car parking Friendly reception staff

Review 78:Cheap beds- camp- style, not hotel quality

Review 79:Good location for price. Staff helpful.

Review 80:Nice location. 5min walking from train station and 15 min walking from castle entrance. Helpful and nice staff. Confortable bedroom.

Review 81:A bit run-down/nosey street outside

Review 82:Staff/Location/price

Review 83:Walls may be a little light. We unfortunately had to listen to someone coughing for about an hour but that was just bad luck.

Review 84:Friendly Staff an absolute pleasure to deal with. A good varied breakfast and unbelievable central location. A clean well run hotel.

Review 85:Although it doesn't look like much from the outside, the hotel is lovely! Inside very clean and beautifully decorated. Spacious room with all amenities we needed. The owners were very helpful and gave us some very good advice about the town, the food, restaurants etc. On weekends parking is free on the street in front of the hotel.

Review 86:We were told that the front door would be locked after 8pm and we let ourselves in with a code after dinner at 9pm.. We realised then that we should have made all the enquiries before we went out. The front counter was not manned by 9pm. We had the use of the Wi-Fi the next morning when the staff were around. There was also a smell of drains in our bedroom. Picture of hotel as advertised is deceptive as it had building work around and it faced quite a busy main road. From the photo I imagined we would be staying in a quiet side street in the main town.

Review 87:Location was very good and staff was very helpful, when they were around.

Review 88:Just between the train station and the medieval city. Everybody was very helpfull. They have an authomatic machine for cold and hot drinks. Very nice stay.

Review 89:The location is little bit far from Gare de Carcassonne. No electric kettle in the room.

Review 90:The room is little bit small but enough to stay. The price is reasonable. Staffs at the reception are friendly.

Review 91:Nothing! We were perfectly happy with the hotel, especially the price as compared to other hotels in town.

Review 92:The owner was very helpful with lots of recommendations on where to go, restaurants etc. He was very gracious of our horrible French as well :) The bed was very comfortable but would have slept on anything after all the walking and heavy food!!! The location is great if you need access to the train station, canal du midi, and the center of town where there are bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc. The walk to the Cite was also about 20 minutes so it was great for what we needed.

Review 93:I think the breakfast area needs little more atmosphere, it is a little stark - but provides a good breakfast regardless.

Review 94:Warm welcome, very helpful owners, hotel is immaculately clean and decorated in neutral colours with bright modern accents - great fun! Bedroom comfortable and all mod cons were available. Perfect location for exploring Carcassonne, took bus up to Cite and walked back, local train to Quillan and boat on the Canal du Midi, all within easy access of hotel. I would definitely stay there again. It is excellent value and a pleasure to stay there.

Review 95:It was a nice service, the room was really clean and cowsy. It is near to Pont Neuf. there is an excellent restaurant in front of the holtel call Brasserie du Palais, it was also very nice.

Review 96:This is a nice old building which still has some really nice features but has been decorated in a cheerful, fresh style. It was very conveniently located. Carcassonne is a fantastic place to see, and the owners of the hotel really helped us make the best of it. We had a large room with lovely white doonas (comforters) and red accents. It had a nice old fireplace with a wide mantel and mirror over it. The owners gave us a recommendation for a local restaurant to get cassoulet, and the restaurant was great - and reasonably priced. very happy with our stay there.

Review 97:Air Conditioning did not work which meant the window had to be opened during the night. This meant the city traffic noise was quite loud in the morning.

Review 98:location. Cleanliness. Very friendly staff. Value for money,

Review 99:Damp and musty smell. A lot of road noise until 4am then quiet until it started up again at 5am. There is no lift so two arthritic pensioners struggled a bit getting to second floor.

Review 100:Location in centre of lower city (Bastide) WiFi Staff were friendly - encoured me to speak French but helped when I was stuck.

Review 101:It was a bit shabby and cramped. No bar or evening restaurant although there is a restaurant next door and others are within walking distance. On main road so noisy. Parking near hotel could prove difficult on weekdays as you have to pay and there is a time limit.

Review 102:City centre location very convenient for shops, restaurants, market square, Canal Midi, Le Cite and main road to airport. Parking was available outside hotel and was free at weekends. Very busy though. Helpful staff.

Review 103:Dorm style furniture. Carpet smelled of urine and mold. Uncomfortable mattress Very basic breakfast for the price. Best to eat elsewhere

Review 104:Location of the hotel in the center of Carcassonne Friendly and helpful staff, although they did not speak English

Review 105:It would be helpful if breakfast could be served even a half hour earlier to allow guests enough time to get to the airport when several flights leave for the UK and Ireland mid- morning

Review 106:Convenient location, hotel farly basic but comfortable and clean

Review 107:There are no signposts to the hotel entering Carcassonne, although it's not so difficult to find it. No lift to the rooms.

Review 108:Nice ancient building, 15-20 mins pleasant walk to the fortified citadel. Very nice coloured and well decorated rooms (our quadruple was very spacious and comfortable). Breakfast buffet was good, even if nothing spectacular. Family management extremely kind and helpful. Parking in front of the hotel is free from 18 to 9, and it is easy to find a place close to the entrance. Not expensive during the day.

Review 109:Central location 20 mins walk to the walled city. Friendly helpful staff and easy parking (public carpark to front). Comfortable family room with air conditioning, wi-fi, toilet/shower and comp soaps etc.

Review 110:Basic, good value. Not luxurious but very adequate accommodation for the price. The décor has lovely creative little touches. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Review 111:Friendly helpful owners. The room was basic but clean and comfortable and good value. Room had a nice outlook onto the tree lined street. Hotel is certainly central.Easy walk to the reccomended restaurants Le Bistro and La Rotonde near the canal and just round corner from the shopping area.Easy access by car to old City. We found parking in front of the hotel which is free after hours but in the morning or afternoon one must pay or else face a fine. An excellent base from which to explore Carcassonne.

Review 112:Room had air conditioning but it didn't seem to do anything despiteme playing with the options

Review 113:We stayed there for one night. Staff very helpful with directions andrecommendations etc. Room had everything expected for the price.

Review 114:Room quite noisy as I was facing the street and above a restaurant but as I said I would stay here again.

Review 115:Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. I really liked this location for everything that I wanted to visit and would come and stay again.

Review 116:some minor road noise

Review 117:Owners had limited English but were extremely helpful and patient and gave good local advice, rooms basic but clean / functional. Only 5mins walk from market and 15mins from castle

Review 118:The manageress and manager are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean, towels changed daily, good simple facilities in the bedroom. A quiet location but handy to key areas of the town. An excellent restaurant beside the hotel.

Review 119:Basic but comfortable hotel, bike friendly and staff were very helpful despite the language barriers. Very close to castle and shopping area. We loved Carcassonne.
