Reviews for La Margelle

Review 1:The young couple who own this establishment are in the process of improving it. However they have not reached the bedrooms as yet. In our superior room, the floor was uneven, and the tiles kept being misplaced whenever one walked over them. Could be dangerous. The restaurant is very nice, but the food is overpriced, and poorly cooked.Parking could be a problem if one arrives late. There appears only to be enough space for 5 vehicles. When the improvements are finished it will be better as the owners do appear to have taste.

Review 2:The Restaurant was beautifully appointed, and the staff could not be more helpful and pleasant.,at this old Hotel situated in the centre of the town..

Review 3:Lack of wifi

Review 4:La margelle has EVERYTHING : charm, the quality of the bedding is excellent, the hospitality is perfect, very reactiv, the breakfast was delicious and generous, the place is very quiet, the decoration is soft and chic. We feel like at home.

Review 5:Would prefer choice of breads at breakfast and choice of breakfast.

Review 6:The town, the ambience, the courtyard. The staff are helpful and pleasant- would love to return.

Review 7:These folks were fantastic. It's a small operation run by a husband and wife and you really feel like you're a guest in their home. I can't say enough nice things about our stay there. We were in town for one night in transit to a friends wedding, and they went out of their way to make 2 foreigners feel comfortable. If we are ever in the area again we will absolutely be returning.

Review 8:Breakfast could have been a little more imaginative. While we love the Continental style breakfast, after 7 days we were getting somewhat tired of bread & croissants. An omelet or a boiled egg would have been greatly appreciated.

Review 9:Good feel, very French. A very pleasant couple, who made us very welcome.

Review 10:very beautifully located in the centre of the town, ancient noble manor house. Very quite and pleasent with fountain garden and cool fresh garden.

Review 11:No bad experience but wifi would have been useful

Review 13:The city of Pernes has nothing to offer. No wifi

Review 14:this classic hotel facility is good. And welcome host.

Review 15:Lack of equipment (minibar and bathtub)

Review 17:Family run operation, great music at dinner.

Review 18:Good food in a quiet town Nice room

Review 19:Amiable couple in charge. Great room with high ceilings. Superb breakfast.

Review 20:Sadly, what should have been a highlight of our stay in Provence turned out to be a very disappointing experience. We had booked the "Superior Suite", advertised for accommodating 4 people.Contrary to what the pictures on booking.com might suggest, this has only 1 bedroom with a double bed, whilst the sofa bed for the other two guests is located in a small lounge, with an open plan bathroom (no door). The bathroom fan is running continuously which makes sleeping difficult without ear plugs for those guests. In order to get to the bathroom "area", those staying in the bedroom need to wander through the lounge where the other two sleep, which may be uncomfortable for some. Apart from a wall stretching half the room, there is no door separating the lounge from the bathroom. Only the bedroom has a cupboard for clothes, not the lounge. On our expressed surprise about this situation, the landlady chose not to offer us two separate rooms which would have come to about the same price, or only little more than what we paid for the suite. As a bonus, we were charged the full amount for our 3-day stay on arrival. The room was not ready and not cleaned when we arrived. There were only 2 pairs of house shoes available, incomplete sets of toiletries, and a single clothes hanger (!) for the four of us. Those without house shoes got black socks and feet from walking around, there was dust everywhere on the surfaces and around the beds. The room was also not cleaned the next day, and only half-heartedly so after we made an embarrassed request for this to be done. This is unacceptable for a 3 star hotel!Note that the "free public parking" in front of the hotel is limited to 1,5 hours stay during most of the day until 7pm. There seems to be a private parking lot but it is very small and was always fully occupied with (the owner's?) cars. We weren't offered a space there.

Review 21:The hotel itself is housed in a nice building, located in an agreeable, if not a bit boring, small country town near Avignon. Rooms have modern appliances and very comfy beds. There's a great little bakery store next door. However, our overall experience with this place was a major disappointment.

Review 22:The shower mount is waist height; the most ridiculous shower I have ever seen. No WIFI which is unacceptable for a 3 star hotel. Breakfast at 12Euros each for bread and coffee is outrageous.

Review 23:Hotel is well fitted and modern.

Review 24:Cons: There is no internet access. There is no lift. The are stairs to climb and descend to get into the hotel and more stairs to get to the rooms. The stairs to the bedrooms are deeply worn and uneven, and the bedroom floors have significant dips and rises that are hard to see. The air conditioning unit has no thermostatic or fan controls. Its on/off switch is in a fuse box and would be hard to find without being shown. The thermostat's default is set very high and just as the room begins to cool, the cooling system switches off, continues to blow but does not cool again until the room heats up. The on/off sound of the cooling system and the down/up temperature were enough to wake us again and again throughout the night. Lastly, we returned to our room late at night to the strong smell of sewage. The smell was coming from somewhere in the room as all windows were closed tightly. We do not recommend this hotel to anyone who has ambulatory/stability problems, difficulty climbing stairs or are sensitive to heat. Some of the cons listed above can easily be corrected (lack of internet, air conditioning setting). Others may not (uneven floors, source of sewage odor). But as possible corrections are made, this may become a fine stop for persons who have no ambulatory difficulties.

Review 25:Pros: Exceptionally clean, first class renovation, very nice amenities (shampoo, slippers, hair dryer, tooth brushes, shoe polish), high quality towels, very comfortable beds, large rooms, a pleasant welcome and an accommodating staff, private parking at no extra cost.
