Reviews for Hotel Restaurant De Seignelay
Review 1:Restaurant not suitable for non meat eaters.
Review 2:All staff exceptionally friendly & helpful, my dog was made totally welcome, great central location, car parking available just round the corner & brought back to the hôtel immediately on request - great value, will certainly be back, thank you.
Review 3:nothing.
Review 4:The hospitable welcome was awesome. The lady makes sure you are welcome and is very helpful, also in pointing you to a free concert at the river bank. And even though I speak reasonably French, she speaks very slowly and clear so my friends also understood. The yard is nice, but we didn't use it. The room is basic, but nice. Parking is possible around at the public
Review 5:It would be helpful if you could arrive up until 10pm - we drove a long way and struggled to get there by 9pm. It would also be good if there was a fan in the room to use if the weather is hot.
Review 6:The location, the staff, the evening meal
Review 7:We arrived during a heat wave; the proprietress was unwilling to allow us to cancel despite the hotel not having AC (or fans) for its customers. She made a pretty poor first impression, although the other people working the desk were helpful enough--as long as we weren't asking about the temperature of the room. The hotel has seen better days, furniture and bathroom dated, tired and worn. Shower fixture didn't really work.
Review 8:The location of the hotel was good. The parking was a bit weird, and at €7.50 the most we paid in a small town. someone from the hotel has to walk you over, but it's covered, and close enough. If the weather is okay, the hotel would provide basic accommodations...but very, very basic.
Review 9:Sme things, that we have forgotten there, were not found. Parking was difficult. Prices for rooms are high, looking from a German point of view.
Review 10:Breakfast was better than average. The hous has a very pleasent courtyard. Most rooms are calm.
Review 11:The manager (owner or whatever) had a rather brusque manner, which improved with acquaintance. Likewise, the sommelier. The restaurant was closed on Monday evening. The bedroom smelled of cigarette smoke.
Review 12:Excellent position in the middle of the city. Great character, far better than modern concrete blocks. Ease of access in the night. The dinner was of good quality, and the cheese board excellent.
Review 13:Toilet facilities rather spartan although OK Some advance knowledge as to how to manage the car, leave luggage and find the garage would have been helpful
Review 14:Excellent food Pleasant courtyard Garage facilities for the car Helpful and welcoming staff. Good location to visit the town.
Review 15:nothing
Review 16:Second visit and ver good to be back, it didn't disappoint. Good location, extremely helpful and friendly staff, comfortable (if dated) room. only had breakfast, but recall dinner was great on last visit. Able to park scooters inside between exterior doors and interior courtyard
Review 17:The two flights of stairs, a lift would have been an asset
Review 18:Enjoyed a delicious meal when we arrived that evening.
Review 19:Needs a coat of paint
Review 20:Nothing special
Review 21:Access to parking was poor, Breakfast was extremley poor. general service poor
Review 22:Not a lot
Review 23:Very friendly staff. The room was a good size with comfortable beds. The evening meal was fantastic. Amazing value for money.
Review 24:The breakfast was awful. Stale croissants and buns, bad coffee.
Review 25:A nice old place with character in the centre of town.
Review 26:Lovely staff, perfect location. Good food breakfast and supper. Parked in nearby private car park.
Review 27:The room was hot. No air cinditioning
Review 28:Nice people
Review 29:the restaurant food, dinner very average
Review 30:Wonderful location
Review 31:It is a basic hotel with a smelly toilet! old furniture
Review 32:Location and friendliness of the staff Nice courtyard
Review 33:Location of hotel.
Review 34:Good Location
Review 35:Garage facilities are very small and tight for a large car, staff very helpful.
Review 36:Right in the centre of the old town, short walk to churches and river.
Review 37:wifi didn't respond to apple computers.
Review 38:room,location, staff and other guests
Review 39:Easy to find and conveniently situated near the city centre.
Review 40:Excellent location for brief tour of the historic town
Review 41:It was lovely. Gilles what a guy! It was a really fun place and the food was great. It must be wonderful in the summer
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Everything
Review 44:Internet only on reception and very slow.
Review 45:Localization, staff.
Review 46:A conveniently situated and reasonably priced small hotel in the middle of the historic city of Auxerre
Review 47:Guests need to be aware that reception is only open for check-in for a limited period - 3pm to 9pm when we were there. This wasn't a problem for us as it turned out, but if our train had been much later it would have been.
Review 48:Staff were very helpful when we had travel problems due to rail strike. Simple room, but clean and comfortable, opening on to quiet courtyard.
Review 49:Helpful staff and a very good restaurant with courtyard for outside dining, weather permitting. Cheap underground parking within easy walking distance
Review 50:Locate just in the old city with a lovely yard. Very friend staff showed me everything I need. I booked a suite for 4 adults. It has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom.Comfort enough for the whole family. The suite is on the first floor without elevator but the staff helped us took the big luggage.
Review 51:Perhaps the one negative point is lack of parking. However, they do havea private, secure garage nearby which you can use for €7 a night.
Review 52:The owner and his wife were very friendly and helpful. Good restaurant, typical French atmosphere, excellent service. Breakfast was good andplentiful. Very nice courtyard area where we sat out for an aperitif oneevening, but I imagine on summer evenings it is very pleasant to eat inthe courtyard. Good value for money, would recommend and will definitelystay again next time we are in the area.
Review 53:The restaurant food was terrible. Our room was on the very noisy street. The half-timbers were painted on. It was way too expensive.
Review 54:It was an 18th century half-timbered building. The bathroom was fairly large and modern.
Review 55:They gave US a smoking room and woul not change as they said it was the Last room although I did not ser Manu Otero people. They Camerún and sprayed a horrible spray which went away after while. It did not just smell of smoke. Beds were uncomfortable. They seré not at all parientes with oír comunicación atetemos in French. we left so fast I left My iPad coed and adaptar. i calles and They said it was Teherán but just went to get someten which wastoo long for My phone plan.
Review 56:Nthe breakfast Washington FairPlay decent with a Nica person worling at it
Review 57:Very friendly welcome. Old-fashioned hotel and quite basic but very clean and comfortable. Good buffet -style breakfast (7.5 euros) with excellent coffee
Review 58:When I orginally booked the hotel , I received a instant email from them & were more than happy to take the dog. I arrived & I was given a big welcome by the owners & instantly taken by a charming young lady Blaudine to the lockup garage -- she was most cheerful & very helpful in taking Rhum & the luggage & helping me to park the car. They also insisted that I took Rhum into the dining room when he was given a bowl of water -- luckily he behaved himself !! The meal , wine & accomodation was excellent . I would like to say a big thank you for all their kindness , I certainly will return. Veronica Roper . Preston.
Review 59:Difficult to close the bathroom door, but it locked. The cold water often ran hot! Unfortunately the town's river promenade is undergoing big building works (since May 2012) but it will be lovely when it is completed.
Review 60:A friendly and comfortable town hotel, good staff, nothing too much trouble. They kept my 'picnic' butter in their fridge overnight, as it was very hot weather. The garage was within easy walking distance, and the hotel situated in the historic streets of the town. A trip on the river was very interesting, and the cathedral well worth visiting.
Review 61:The bedroom was the pits - it was too crowded & it was furnished by the local "op shop"
Review 62:we had dinner at the hotel in the night& it was great.
Review 63:Pillows smeling tobacco in room 8 (Answer: difficult to manage! We sent all pillow to laundry in march-april...(!!) Floor T tiling of bathroom were sticky/ gluey before toilet and lavabo...(Answer: Thank for telling us, I will order a special product to clean...??? Breakfast: minimum... Room didn't allow to open windows, giving on a corridor...
Review 64:the location,, short to antic center of the city
Review 65:No air conditioner, it's very hot in July, thus have to keep windows open during nighttime.
Review 66:Exactly located in the downtown of Auxerre, all major attractions of the city are within 10 minutes walking distace.
Review 67:The evening meal hotel food was abysmal and it was a very hot little room - probably better in winter. Don't eat supper there!
Review 68:It was an interesting timberframed building with a cosy room and a good breakfast. They were helpful staff and had a convenient garage in the centre of town (if you booked it).
Review 69:The restaurant was especially good, with excellent, friendly service. The hotel is simple and not luxurious, but our room was clean and comfortable, and the overall appearance of the hotel is very pleasant. A good choice for a few days' visit to Auxerre.
Review 70:We had an enchanting and characterful room. The staff were all very friendly and professional. It was a real bonus to be able to use the private garage as a music festival was in progress. Free Wifi was very useful.
Review 71:As a family of four with two adult sized teenagers the quad room was spacious. It was also very clean. Quaint old coaching Inn with lots of character but modern comfortable rooms.
Review 72:Only that it felt a little odd being the only guests but that's because of the time of year.
Review 73:Charming and amusing people running the place, made us most welcome. Food delicious and reasonably priced. Room and facilities a little dated but clean and comfy. Couldn't get wifi to work on my laptop but ok on phone so that was probably more about me.
Review 74:Far to expensive for the comfort you get, absolutely not friendly at all, Room very old, bathroom even older... really not to recommend to no body, for the high price I payed of 75euros with garage, Personel not friendly at all, Stay away from that hotel...
Review 75:Nothing to dislike but it is a plain and simple proposition for the price.
Review 76:It is a traditional French hotel experience. Hopefully, it will remain that way. Plain, simple, everything works and the owners/staff are very good. It is a great place to stay at any time of year. it is seriously 'good value'.
Review 77:People were friendly & helpful. The hotel was spotless and the restaurant served local food beautifully prepared & were passionate about sharing their foods and customs with the guests.
Review 78:Difficult parking facilities and due to the construction work by the quayside, the hotel was difficult to locate.
Review 79:Pleasant atmosphere, good service and good food
Review 80:Our room (#19) off the courtyard was rather tired and basic, noisy water system (early risers in next room showering). Breakfast buffet was minimal. There is secure parking - but it is a pain as it is in a locked dark garage a few hundred yards away and cars are blocked in.
Review 81:Very good location in centre of Auxerre. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
Review 82:Cleanliness - didn't smell clean. Small room. Door closes 9.00 p.m. so you have to let yourself in! Wasn't asked if we wanted to eat dinner, but wouldn't have anyway!! Big dog present throughout our stay.
Review 83:We didn't like anything!!
Review 84:It was everything directly opposite to the final question in para 2. Ourroom was noisy, our reception was that we were a nuisance intruding onstaff time, our food was appalling (my 'rare' steak was tougher than myshoe leather, though it was raw) while my wife's coq au vin wasimpossible to cut. How white meat could prove so tough leaves me totallybefuddled. We gave up asking for water at our table for a third timewhen another guest's pet dog was served immediately it entered therestaurant.
Review 85:It had garage space.
Review 86:Hotel staff were very helpful throughout. Rooms/ site had character not the smart blandness of modern chains etc. Lovely courtyard for restaurant, and a wonderful meal. Good selection of dishes all beautifully prepared. Even the children thoroughly enjoyed it all. Close to town centre to allow for easy exploring.
Review 87:Door locks fiddly; could get locked in unless very precise wheninserting key.
Review 88:Friendly manager and staff. Local food. Local wine. Informality, comfort& value for money.
Review 89:The room had no pretty features and was a little noisy from traffic onthe road. The shower wouldn't run hot and was like one you found in acaravan. Breakfast was without meat only a few bread pieces andcroissants a sparce selection.
Review 90:The town at Auxerre is very pleasant with exceptional features , theriver, boats, churches, architecture, French style. The hotel wasquaint. With a nice terrace with drinks available. The menu looked good. There was a nice atmosphere at the evening for diner. Parking off sitewas secure. Nice staff.
Review 91:Restaurant not cheap and can cost more than the room price. Breakfast was ok but somewhat small.
Review 92:Simple clean and good food plus staff were very nice.
Review 93:Very French hotel, rooms simple, no air conditioning, but very quiet.Lovely courtyard with outiside tables. Staff excellent We arrived verylate and they kept open the restaurant to serve us. Recommend bookingprivate car parking as road parking difficult/impossible late. Breakfastdelightful - would recommend and return
Review 94:The owner is great! Great sens of humor. Tongue-in-cheek kind of guy.Forgot is name but he remember ours which is a great sign :) Bestmorning coffee of our whole trip. Great ambiance. Grreat location. Wereally liked our stay it was our first 3 nights of our stay littleEurope trip. We really liked it. Parking can be a bit difficult but theydo have suggestions and a parking lot for like 7euros. We manage to parkon the street but we were lucky I think. Otherwise we hade a great timeand Auxerre is a beautifull little city.
Review 95:A small city centre hotel in a building about 200 years old. Theentrance opens up into an enchanting quiet courtyard with open airdining. Staff are very welcoming, the service excellent, the rooms veryclean - and you get free wifi ! Strongly recommended.
Review 96:rooms very small. Duvet cover look dirty however the rest of the bedding was clean.

Review 98:The shower is plastic and the door leaks
Review 99:Nice cool room in hot weather!
Review 100:The staff were very friendly, the room was as we expected for a hotel in this price range with an excellent central location.
Review 101:Unfriendly management (I suspect because we were english-speaking). Noise from kitchen right outside bedroom window.
Review 102:Well located in Auxerre
Review 103:The breakfast was very poor, not worth the price. Staff was not so kind.
