Reviews for Granvia
Review 1:There is no bar in the hotel. If you ask where it is they say it's on the first floor and it closes at 22.00.But it's not there! Anyway, what good's 22.00 in Barca?
Review 2:Buying cherries and mushrooms at the market. At the top of the plastic box they looked fabulous. At the bottom half they were rubbish. Naughty
Review 3:The places to visit, the shops to see. Tapas bars to visit and the Market with its amazing fish display. And such a choice of fruit and vegetables.
Review 4:However, rooms are a little bit smaller than the photos and crampy.
Review 5:The breakfast buffet is spectacular, and we didn't even need to eat our lunch. Also, the hotel is situated at the centre of Barcelona, and therefore, it is convinient to reach anywhere in the city.
Review 6:Bath was huge, which sounds great. But stubbed my toe three times getting in and out. Maybe I should get my leg up higher. Not a huge downer
Review 7:Great Location
Review 8:Rooms are small and having two suitcases makes them smaller. Cleaning ladies start knocking on doors to clean rooms at 8 AM. Don't forget to hang a 'do not disturb' sign the night before.
Review 9:Helpful reception staff. Good location.
Review 10:Not sure if it was the tram or the metro, but we could hear (and feel) something rumbling by in frequent intervals. Not a deal breaker, but ear plugs were necessary for some in our group.
Review 11:Perfect location, comfortable beds, delicious and plentiful breakfast, friendly staff.
Review 12:Lack of clothes storage for longer stays. But we only stayed 2 nights so ok for short stay city break.
Review 13:Great reception staff, large family room, good enough for our needs. Old building, trendy modern interior with high ceilings. Lots of variety at breakfast kids loved all the pastries.
Review 14:After each shower some water was leaked on bathroom floor, probably leak in shower door sealing (room 220)
Review 15:Excellent location, style- and characterfull interior, rooms were kept very clean, helpfull staff, very quiet rooms with no noise from trafic, plentifull breakfast
Review 16:The breakfast variety was adequate but quality was below average not worth €12 per person per day. It would be nice to have a double bed instead of two single beds that kept moving apart. Also there were tea or coffee facility in the room. The room is not adequately sound proofed.
Review 17:The hotel is a charming hotel in a great location. Staff suggestions for dinner were good.
Review 18:Try to avoid rooms facing the main street - it is noisy the whole day and night and the soundproofing is not perfect.
Review 19:The hotel is very nicely renovated, clean and modern, located perfectly in the downtown.
Review 20:Our 5 night stay was made enjoyable by the extremely helpful staff. The morning breakfast offered a wide range of hot/ cold items which were constantly replenished. The hotel's central location made it possible to walk to the majority of attractions.
Review 21:We would have appreciated a hotel bar. At the end of an evening out, before returning to the hotel, we stopped off at a nearby hotel for a cocktail.
Review 22:The hotel was beautifully decorated & we loved the beautiful sun terrace. It was superbly located.
Review 23:Single room was quite small and the location of the TV made it hard too see from the bed. Warm, but that seems to be a problem of hotels in general.
Review 24:Nice designed hotel. Restaurant and outside area looking great. The location is also perfect, only a few minutes away from place the catalunya and a metro station right across the street.
Review 25:I had a room that did not have a window to outside. It was awful. I had no clue what the weather was like and I didn't have a view. Cleaning staff would vacuum at 8 am. They were very loud. They banged on the walls and doors with the vacuum. They would continually knock on your door insisting on cleaning your room.
Review 26:Location was excellent.
Review 27:Front rooms of the hotel face a busy street. We coped for 3 nights.. took in the ambiance of Barcelona at night...... Extra layer of glazing would be of benefit to block it out.
Review 28:Beautifully and tastefully decorated room and hotel. Stunning building. Our room was a twin, the beds were spacious and the pillows luxurious. Plenty of closet space for hanging clothes. Great community lounge area for relaxing, computers available for use of guests in the area. Drinks available to buy in the evening from the staff on duty.....mojito recommended. WIFI was very reliable during our stay. Great breakfast buffet of varied offerings both traditional breakfast choices and interesting dishes that varied daily. Very fresh squeezed orange juice and great quality of coffee at the breakfast buffet. Friendly staff throughout the whole establishment who were very helpful. Excellent location in walking distance of many sights and also close to train station.
Review 29:(1) The room smelt not good. (2) The bed was not comfortable. We requested a double bed, but they put two separate beds together. (3) The room is close to the lift, so it is quite noisy. (4) It is weird that there is a door in the room, but we cannot open it. It seems that the door is connecting two rooms, we can hear the neighbour clearly. so the feeling is really unpleasant.
Review 30:location is great.
Review 31:All was good.
Review 32:A beautiful and clean hotel in an excellent location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We liked how afternoon tea was set out for you to help yourself after a tiring day of sightseeing.
Review 33:Great location. Alessandra as the front desk was very nice and helpful. Room was very comfortable and upscale. Terrance was a quiet oasis away from the noise of the city. Just around the corner from great shopping and restaurants.
Review 34:There wasn't anything we didn't like about Granvia.
Review 35:A modern comfortable hotel in a good location. We liked the availability of hot drinks in the lobby and the terrace available to guests.
Review 36:No iron available to use. No tea/coffee in room. Male worker at breakfast not friendly. No double bed-2 joined together which was not ideal for us as a couple.
Review 37:Excellent location. The hotel is decorated & maintained to a high standard. Beautiful. The outside terrace area is lovely. The hotel is very clean & well maintained. Air conditioning in room. Nice bathroom with power shower.
Review 38:The Granvia is centrally located making it easy to catch buses or walk to where you want to go in this great city. Loved the feel of the hotel with the decor and the oversized black & white 30's photos added a truly vintage feel. Breakfast was excellent value. would stay there again when next in Barcelona.
Review 39:Not easy to make reservation. Hotel most of time is full - no surprise why.
Review 40:we enjoyied everything - friendly and professional stuff, amazing interior of the Hotel, very clean. Best Location.
Review 41:Barcelona is an old city and the street sometimes smells due to the sewer and so did the bathroom. You can close the door and the faint smell gets contain there. It wasn't much of a big deal to us as the hotel was very clean.
Review 42:It was the perfect location. Close to las Ramblas and the train station.
Review 43:Our double room was disappointing...much more awkward, dark and small than the photo showed. I had indicated it was our honeymoon, and received no offer of upgrade / change at the time of booking or check in.
Review 44:We loved everything about this hotel (except the small room)
Review 45:Pool or hot tub would be nice.
Review 46:Enjoyed the terrace and great breakfast. All day coffee was also very nice. Bedroom was comfortable. A great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Review 47:One morning, we asked housekeeping to come back a little later because we were slow to get moving. Returning from several hours of sightseeing, we found our room still untouched. The front desk had it taken care of immediately.
Review 48:Location: close to subway and airport bus, as well as shopping and great strolling. Facilities are beautiful and well maintained, and breakfast, which was included in our room rate, offered a wide variety of foods and beverages.
Review 49:Everything was as it should be, no negatives. Rooms are small but quite sufficient.
Review 50:Fantastic location and the buffet breakfast was one of the best I've had in Europe.
Review 51:We LOVED this place. Location was perfect- just a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas (without being right in the midst of all the chaos) and just a few blocks from a transport hub where you could catch a bus to pretty much anywhere in the city, including the airport. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and included a variety of healthier options alongside meats, cheeses, and pastries. Room was on the small side (not unexpected in an old European city) but a high ceiling made it feel cozy rather than cramped. The whole place is beautifully decorated and found a great balance between elegant and relaxed.
Review 52:Breakfast has many options but quality is not good The shower was badly designed and water flows out of each making the bathroom fully wet
Review 53:Big and fully renovated rooms
Review 54:The beds could be more comfy.
Review 55:The Hotel in a beautifully restored building and has plenty of areas to for you to enjoy and relax. Staff were really helpful and you're in a great location to explore the city.
Review 56:Family room too small for 4 people & not good value for money. Our children were on a sofa bed right under the air con and as a result my daughter suffered from a really stiff neck for 4 days afterwards. The tap wouldn't turn off. My brother and family had a much larger room for the same price.
Review 57:Good location. Lovely old building and decor. Pleasant, friendly staff.
Review 58:Nothing
Review 59:Position was excellent Staff were lovely Hotel was really nice We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would return there if we ever come back to Barcelona
Review 60:Excellent staff, great position, great price point. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Noise not a problem as windows are double glazed.
Review 61:My only complaint would be the mattress was a bit too hard for me.
Review 62:The hotel was in a great location. Lots of restaurants and attractions walking distance. Hotel staff lovely. Did not eat in hotel so can't comment on breakfast.
Review 63:The beds were too hard, even a nice mattress pad/cover would have helped make them more comfortable and a little more high end feeling. The beds felt like something you would find in a very cheap hotel which did not seem to fit the price or luxurious feel of the rest of the hotel. Also hotel staff was courteous but not overly friendly and did not seem to have much knowledge of the hotel. The only 2 times we asked for anything, they referred us to the housekeeping and when the housekeeping was unavailable they didn't seem to have much of a solution or concern. I think at a hotel as nice as this you want to feel as if you are being taken care of a little bit, as if they want to make your stay as warm and comfortable as possible.
Review 64:Hotel was clean and lovely, quiet with lots of space. Good location too!
Review 65:the other staff could have been a bit more friendly. its always nice to see a smile!
Review 66:the girl at reception was nice and the room was lovely and an excellent size.
Review 67:Nothing really.
Review 68:Fantastic hotel- massive room with beds for 4 of us, the biggest bathroom ever and we all voted the best shower ever! Nice and powerful. Great location with shops around the corner but was very quiet. Nice selection of breakfast and comp tea and coffee from 3-7pm (cakes 2 euros). Atmosphere elegant and clean ( v high ceilings). Would definitely recommend.
Review 69:WiFi is temperamental. I couldn't get my job done online due to inconsistent wifi signal, it keeps being on and off. Fortunately, I was able to get my job on the desktop PC available on the hotel, though its WiFi was also temperamental. The garden at the hotel is only open in restricted hours, starting from 13.00, during when we were never at the hotel.
Review 70:The design of the hotel is excellent. It has a modern look with nice interior appearance. They clean your room and change bathroom stuff everyday.
Review 71:We stayed here for three nights at the end of our cruise. Family room was spacious. Fantastic location, was very useful to have the terrace to relax on at the end of each day. Quiet atmosphere.
Review 72:The hotel has no direct parking, it's a 200m walk and really expensive. My room had a certain smell. But after three minutes I didn't notice it anymore.
Review 73:Great quiet terrace right in the heart of Barcelona. Free coffee and tea there - perfect if you also have to work a few hours and to sit quietly with a lover. Great building and the room was very nice and spacey.
Review 74:Overall, it was a very nice place. The hotel had a very nice patio, the only thing that would have made it better would have been a pool.
Review 75:Very convenient location.
Review 76:Not a thing
Review 77:Absolutely everything. Staff very pleasant, location brilliant and hotel itself is incredibly beautiful. Recently opened sun terrace is amazingly peaceful in the heart of Barcelona
Review 78:Trap door above our shower kept falling down to expose pipes and wasn't fixed despite telling staff on two different occasions
Review 79:The terrace for drinks, the variety of TV channels available, the additional sofa in the room, impressive entrance hall, helpful staff, secure lift system, large bathroom
Review 80:huge king size bed - really comfortable. wide room with high cealing, nice decoration among the hotel. amazing location, so easy to go everywhere! kind and helpful staff. great wifi connection. everything was amazing, definitely reccommended for a couple holiday <3 we stayed for 4 nights and absolutely loved it!
Review 81:No outdoor pool or any kid facilities , better for older kids who are going to sightsee Barcelona town
Review 82:Very pleasant staff, particularly at the front desk
Review 83:The Hotel was very central & one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in. Very friendly helpful staff. The only criticism I have are the small rooms, & we had a superior room, but I guess that is not unusual for older buildings in these cities.
Review 84:The beds are a little hard but okay. And it would be lovely to have a plunge pool to cool off.
Review 85:The building is stunning and beautifully decorated with a modern look.... It was really relaxing and peaceful and all the staff we very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely be coming back!
Review 86:I really didn't have a problem with this, but some others may have: there is a noise from time to time due to the subway line that passes underneath the building. Otherwise the building is well insulated against the street noise (we had the windows towards the main street).
Review 87:Location, terrace, food, atmosphere, cleanliness. You should really try the red berries ice cream at the terrace bar, for me it was the best I tasted.
Review 88:My son and his girlfriend had the room with the two twin beds put together to make a king but they found the mattress to be a little hard for their liking.
Review 89:There were two rooms and since there were 3 of us this worked out quite well. The bathroom was lovely and I found the pull-out couch very comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and it was nice to have a common room where I met some other passengers from the same cruise that we were on and was chatting with them before dinner.
Review 90:Though the wifi connection was strong inside the hotel it was intermittent on the terrace.
Review 91:The hotel is in a great location. It is modern and elegant inside. The rooms are a little small but well designed, immaculate and very comfortable. Fabulous breakfast. Lovely staff!
Review 92:I choose this. Hotel based on the reviews on your site they are. Misleading.Stafff is not friendly .Facilities are poor for the price. Wilł not recommend to any one
Review 93:The location is good
Review 94:Our room was on the first floor and it was very noisy. At night we were kept awake by noisy guests in reception and in the morning the staff were noisy and constantly slammed doors in the office next to our room.
Review 95:The key stopped working and concierge needed three attempts to make it work, air conditioning smells quite strongly
Review 96:Location is amazing, breakfast is just what you need, same for the beds and pillows
Review 97:We booked a standard room and I specifically requested a street view. Picture on Internet showed a room with window with drapes but window looked into an interior shaft. If they had notified me that you could not see outside I would have been willing to upgrade
Review 98:Hotel is very pretty and well located. We enjoyed the rooftop terrace
Review 99:What a great location. The staff were very friendly and person who cleaned our room did an excellent job. Would stay here again. Even free tea and coffee in afternoon.
Review 100:The bed is hard to sleep on.
Review 101:The hotel is beautiful and clean. They were realy nice at the reception! The wifi is realy good as well. And great location!! We had a great time!
Review 102:Very central situated hotel with beautiful dining room and inner courtyard. The rooms are not very spacious, but big enough for a short holiday, very clean and comfortable. Breakfeast was very good, too. Very recommendable!
Review 103:Nothing we didn't like
Review 104:Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Very central with the nearest metro stop just up the street. Beautiful gardens, so tranquil!
Review 105:Shower was a little complicated to learn (not a big deal and when run, it was impossible to keep the water from running onto the tile floor. Also not a big deal but definitely an annoyance.
Review 106:Room was very pleasant, bed was comfortable, room was reasonably quiet, hotel dining featured some of the best food we ate in Barcelona and location was perfect - close to best pedestrian routes, close to Barcelona City Tours, just a great place to stay.
Review 107:As a solo traveller I seem to get very small rooms and my room in the Gran Via was no exception. Other than that quite happy.
Review 108:The location, the building and the wifi
Review 109:Most of the staff were delightful and helpful, for whom nothing was too much trouble.
Review 110:Gorgeous building. The decor is just stunning: minimalist, fun, light, fresh, energising.
Review 111:The location was superb. The rooms were a little on the small size but didn't matter as not much time spent there. Bathroom lovely. We had a quiet room so no street noise. We will definitely stay here again.
Review 112:It was difficult getting in and out of the small shower. I can imagine that people who do not stand firmly on their feet might really have a problem with that. The wifi connection was not very good.
Review 113:The hotel was very nice and is perfectly located! The room was very comfortable and clean.
Review 114:An odd shaped room.
Review 115:A bit of a 50's era feel and look. Well located near Plaza Catalunya. Pleasant brekky areas (indoor, outdoor), and other general areas. Very good shower area.
Review 116:This is nitpicking but they are skimpy on soap. Only a small sliver for the lavatory and small bottle of shower gel. Shampoo included but no conditioner or body lotion.
Review 117:Property is beautiful. Gorgeous architecture and interior design. Location is convenient. Very quiet inside. Rooms are spacious. Bed was comfortable. Large bath with walk-in shower. Water pressure is beyond belief!
Review 118:There are a few things that might bug some people: all coffee comes from a cranky machine, there are a few lights on devices in the room that can't be turned off, and there's no counter space in the bath---all very, very, very minor stuff.
Review 119:First, the Granvia is located within easy walking distance to Passeig de Gracia, Las Rambles, and the neighborhoods of Barri Gotic, El Born, Eixample and El Raval. Metro stations are minutes away that can provide transportation anywhere (very easy to use). The airport bus stop is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There are lots of breakfast cafes nearby. Second, the hotel is beautifully renovated, blending the contemporary with original details. This includes virtually soundproof windows with black out curtains. The rooms are very large and we had 2 queen size beds. There is an outside lounging deck, nice living and breakfast rooms. Third, the staff are competent and genuinely nice people. They helped us with issues caused when our credit cards were stolen including walking to an ATM to to instruct my husband on its peculiarities.
Review 120:Rooms at the front have some street noise.
Review 121:Loved the minimalist decor. The terrace is beautiful. Couldn't ask for a better location. We reserved a basic double room. By North American standards, it was small. However, by European standards not so much. There was a housekeeping mishap and we were moved to a superior double, which was quite a bit larger, but that was really the only difference. If space is a priority for you, opt for the superior.
Review 122:Room was quite small with window looking onto waste pipe.
Review 123:Hotel was brilliant. Great location. Comfortable rooms. Lovely communal areas. Breakfast couldn't have been nicer with great choices.
Review 124:Typical for most hotels breakfast is expensive but there are lots of places to eat nearby and this is just a typical hotel issue not specific to GV.
Review 125:To be honest when we visit Barcelona we won't stay anywhere else now. The hotel is perfectly situated, staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms delightful. We actually had an issue with one of the two rooms we booked and it was resolved quickly and efficiently and actually we ended up with an upgraded room at no extra cost. Will 100% return.
Review 126:Lack of staff in the terrace area. You had to press a call button. Then the staff member would deal with you but not be pro active and attend to other guests at the same time.
Review 127:Reception staff were all great - friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a really central location. Terrace area is lovely.
Review 128:Our bathroom had a really bad drain smell on the night we arrived and the next morning. My husband spoke to reception that morning and the smell wasn't as bad from then on. However my son's bathroom was fine.
Review 129:Loved the artwork and the original features of the hotel. All the public areas smelt lovely and the quiet background piano jazz music added to the sophisticated feel of this hotel.
Review 130:We requested one Queen bed however they merged two single beds and also bed is for a dworf , by 172 cm height ı felt Like a nba player blanket is terrible and air Condition is not working
Review 131:location is great very Closé to larambla and metro stations Room decoration is lovely
Review 132:It was a bit noisy in the common areas outside our 1st floor room at times, but not enough to keep us awake.
Review 133:Large, stylish rooms, wonderful location just off Pg. de Gracia, with a rooftop terrace that's open 24-hrs.
Review 134:Did not especially like the tone of the confirmation e-mail or e-mail response to a query - this may have been a translation problem. Did not like the repeated e-mails (daily) just before visit asked to select extras for an additional charge. These stopped when I eventually responded with No Thank You. This option should have been available from the first unsolicited e-mail.
Review 135:Ease of dealing with staff at reception and their precise info whether with regard to dining or tourist visits and booking. The hotel may not have a pool (which in any case we would not have been interested in using on this trip) but it does mean that the spacious terrace is quiet and relaxing - best piped music I have ever heard! There is, moreover, a separate area for more private sunbathing.
Review 136:The breakfast buffet needs a chef on duty to provide eggs etc. No paper tissues and too small bars of soap needs to be addressed.
Review 137:Because Barcelona is a crazy, busy city, having a hotel with comfort spots such as the Granvia's library, outside patio and lounge make it a cut above the rest! Moreover, the location is superb.
