Reviews for Hotel Restaurant De Belgique

Review 1:The stairs were quite steep, and difficult for a somewhat disabled member of our party.

Review 2:The lady at the desk was accommodating and welcoming, but we arrived mid-afternoon and had to wait until the desk re-opened, so we walked around the shops nearby. The hotel was very basic but clean, within walking distance of all Menton beach, and casino, around the corner from a choice of coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, etc. for meals. We did not eat at the restaurant on the ground floor. Fortunately we found parking on the street, as it's a busy area. We were near the station but were not disturbed by the trains.

Review 3:Even for the cheap price, this place is really run down. I stayed in two other cheap hotels in south of france on that trip, both were much, much nicer!

Review 4:It is clean. It is very close to the railway station. Acceptable for 1-2 nights on a business trip, if you are like me an spend the evening in the restaurant and only sleep in the hotel. Do not expect anything more

Review 5:Bed lice in beds, unfriendly staff, uncomfortably narrow staircase with NO ELEVATOR and NOBODY to help us. Staff didn't shift us to another room when we asked for that and showed them the lice (they promised us they would!). No staff available when we returned to hotel later. Broken toilet seat in room.

Review 6:Location was perfect.

Review 7:The room was not as good as what I had reviewed on the website, it was, in fact quite misleading, giving the impression that the rooms were modern, when in fact they were not, and had not been modernised for a number of years. If I were to book through booking.com again, I would ensure that the rooms, in particular the one we stayed in was of the same standard as portrayed on the web site.

Review 8:The hotel was close to the train station

Review 9:Worker at the reception did not explain where to look for the entrance code to the hotel at night. I had to ask for help from passers-by outsiders.   In the toilet paper was not during the day.

Review 10:location

Review 11:It was very near the train station, which was handy, however it was hot. The room had no aircon or even a fan so you had to have the window open which meant it was very noisy.

Review 12:Easy walk to lots of places

Review 13:There was no WiFi in the bedroom, also no big towels, airconditioning or fans. The hotel is located right next to the trainstation, what can be great with luggage, but you are not able to fall asleep with the noise... The host/reception could not speak English. This hotel was definitely not worth our money!!!

Review 14:The bathroom was not clean, shower stall broken, didn't feel safe in that area at night

Review 15:The staff was friendly, location right by the train station and daily outdoor market

Review 16:Reception is closed after 6 PM, so you have to call them to give you the code to hotel entrance and your room number. No towel in room. Wi-Fi has a code, and I arrived late so I wasn't able to use it until morning.

Review 17:Clean, comfortable, nice stuff able to speak English, close to the centre, available parking lot.

Review 18:The relatively elder lady who handles the reception in the evening is very rude if you don't know french. The wifi didnt reach my room. Don't know about others.

Review 19:Great room at a great price. Right next to the station!

Review 20:If we didn't get the parking spot it would of cost 12 euros per 12 hours parking at the train station

Review 21:The manager saved us a parking space outside the hotel, and it's ideally located for the train station to Monaco which only costs 4 euros

Review 22:I asked for a quiet room and ended hearing the train all night and was put right in front of the bathroom so i had to hear that too. Plus the maid knocked on my door before 9 both mornings and woke me up way before checkout time.

Review 23:A little far from beach. The key to connecting door was wrong. On Sunday A restaurant & a reception are open around 11:00 AM. One row of rooms is parallel to railway.

Review 24:It is very close to the rail station & Sunday market under road.

Review 25:The bathroom door didn't close properly.

Review 26:The location of this hotel is excellent, a short walk to the station and not far from the main area of town. The rooms are spacious, beds comfortable and there was a good breakfast. There is a restaurant with a "formule" of three courses for a fixed price, which proved to be excellent. The food was nutritious and filling. There was a lovely view of the nearby hills from our balcony. The staff were friendly and helpful. Menton is a seaside town, and there is a row of waterfront cafes. The Jean Cocteau Museum is really good.

Review 27:The hotel was very stingey. We got caught out twice without toilet paper in the shared toilet. One day the maid knew there was no paper but did not replenish it. There was also no soap provided when we arrived. The TV screen was a mini computer size. The hotel was also situated in front of a railway track and you could hear the trains going by often, including at night. Most of the staff and the boss were not very pleasant.

Review 28:Location- very central and 5 mins from beach and trains and buses and town centre. Price - hotels are expensive in this region of course

Review 29:Declined to provide us with additional bread butter jam or coffee on our final morning having done so with no grace earlier. The initial offering was the poorest value for money encountered on a twenty three night trip. The balcony was virtually none existent - too narrow to stand on - but providing an excellent view of the railway. There was a bad smell on the landing and the water was very slow to drain from both the washbasin and the shower (ten minutes was not unusual for the washbasin).

Review 30:We arrived whilst the restaurant was open for lunch, so were able to access our room immediately.

Review 31:Broken toilet bowl which leaked and smelt of urine all night. No airconditioner so very hot at night and we had to open the windows. No hairdryer and owner was not able to lend out a hairdryer. The owner was able to speak english very well to me when we arrived, but would not speak in english when we had the conversation about a possible hairdryer.Poor customer service - she was very quick to get us to pay on arrival. Shower curtain fell down on opening shower curtain. This hotel whilst close to the rail station and central is noisy because of the road, the need to open the windows as there is no airconditioning - consequently the noise of the trains is also a nuisance. The hotel was very tired internally and needed basic rennovation.

Review 32:Close to the beach 5 mins walk. We could park the car outside

Review 33:The shower in our room was broken - the shower head and hose were disconnected, and the manager couldn't get it fixed. The hotel was "full" (though the entire time we were there we only saw two other occupants) and they wouldn't compensate us for it. No AC, but the hotel is across the train station, so you can't sleep with the windows open or closed. They didn't help us with our bags and there isn't an elevator.

Review 34:Simple, clean, friendly, great location

Review 35:Wifi works only @the reception.

Review 36:Perfect location, 3 minutes to the train station.

Review 37:Very good for business travel. 100m. From train station. Many small Italian restaurants for a simple lunch.

Review 38:Menton is wonderfull

Review 39:wifi only exist at welcome center. room is beside the railway, so noisy if pass a train. forget put the shower gel for the seconde day.

Review 40:very basic rooms, no wardrobe

Review 41:Breakfast but needed to open a little earlier

Review 42:lack of parking, cleanliness, facilities,

Review 43:nothing

Review 44:Management and staff don't give their smiles away! Reception closed afternoon until 17:30

Review 45:Location - five minutes from station

Review 46:Easy to find location close to beach and city centre

Review 47:Very loud. Expensive.

Review 48:Close to the center and the train station. Can get to Monaco in 10 mins.

Review 49:Kind of pricey for what you get. Other places just as close, much more affordable

Review 50:Location

Review 51:Shared bathroom, breakfast was one croissant.

Review 52:It was cheap.

Review 53:Non functionning toilets, stairway blocked with bicycles, parking very far, non caring staff

Review 54:Very bad wifi in room, breakfeast for 6 euros very poor,( one coffee, 1 juice, 1 crousan, 1 bread, 1 portion butter, and 1 jum)

Review 55:everything

Review 56:Good location and clean (but quite run down) rooms. Cheap. Perfect if you are just looking for a cheap stay for overnigh.

Review 57:Noise, shower handle holder needed.

Review 58:The location to the train.

Review 59:Place is dirty, and staff are unfriendly. Bad experience.

Review 60:No air conditioning. Some noise from trains.

Review 61:Very convenient for train and bus stations. Clean if a little run down.

Review 62:1.unfriendly attitude 2.noisy location 3.uncomfortable beds (surface is rough)

Review 63:Next to railway. Long and laud trains passing early morning at 5. Breakfast was very poor.

Review 64:Price in the area is not bad

Review 65:great location, near the town center and a few blocks from the beach. we had a lovely bedroom with a balcony

Review 66:Only one parking place!

Review 67:is very close to the beach

Review 68:I didn't like this hotel not having a lift though I was able to keep my son's wheelchair downstairs.

Review 69:I found this hotel just 2 mins walk from the train station so I loved this convenience. The manager saw my son in a wheelchair and so offered us two rooms instead of a triple room on floor 3. This delighted me. My kids room had a lovely view of a beautiful building. I had a very quiet and comfortable room opposite theirs.

Review 70:Even though the temperature was several degrees higher than in England(where my heating is not required) the heating was on all day and night!!!!!!!!!!!

Review 71:it is close to the train station. Since i arrive early in the morning, the room is not ready yet. The staff told me to leave the luggage in the room, and the room will be cleaned later. However, when i arrive at 6pm, the room still messy. I told the staff for help. They ask very fast, they will the cleaning lady back to tidy up the room, and during that time they offer me a dinner. Very good follow up.

Review 72:1. Only one parking place belonging to hotel. 2. Smallest room (and bed) I ever seen - no place to move, to sleep, to shift. Tightly bullpen like in Alkatraz prison. 3. The toilet and shover are not separated from the room by solid wall - that is why all the noises and smells are available to all inhabitants. 4. Absence of soup and shampoo as well as one towel for one person were not the worst shortages in this hotel

Review 73:Nothing except location

Review 74:Food disappointing - lack of imagination and high price. Staff could not speak English - although on the counter they said they did. Rooms very basic. No wi- fi. Staff not helpful or friendly. Cleaning lady was lovely. Very, very noisy hotel. Lack of soundproofing above and below. Very selfish fellow residents kept us awak till 3.00 am in theirning. Would not recommend OR return.

Review 75:Location was the best thing. Water in shower hot. Good view from room.

Review 76:My room 'overlooked and overheard' the common usage toilet......not particularly nice!

Review 77:Excellent staff and extremely attentive and helpful......couldn't be better. Central to Menton and well positioned for all the towns facilities......just outside the railway station.

Review 78:everything,the second worst accommadation i have ever stayed in including youth hostels. unfriendly/unhelpful staff/owner. decrepid shared shower room.

Review 79:apart from being able to park the car outside the front door absolutely nothing.

Review 80:Very noisy as next to train tracks. Large damp in the ceiling which looked like it could fall onto the bed any moment. Only 1 shower in the whole hotel (apart from en suites), which was rather difficult to use (had to hold shower head in hand, and the water is on a timer). Woke up with new (mosquito?) bites every morning. Staff not very organised and gave our room to some other people with a similar surname, so had to get a different room for the first night and move the next day. Tried to charge us for an extra night. Didn't give us wifi details and the reception was unoccupied most of the time. After we got the wifi details from them, it was so weak that we couldn't use it anyway. Sockets were dodgy -- took some skill to plug the adapter in without cutting off electricity for the whole room.

Review 81:Good location and price. Staff friendly, although unhelpful.

Review 82:Close to railway line - trains ran late at night and early morning though not throughout the night. No air con so had to have windows open.

Review 83:Very helpful staff who allowed us to keep bikes securely in the cafe when not in use overnight. Good location for the relatively low cost of the rooms, close to centre, restaurants, shops and the beach.

Review 84:Our bathroom could have done with a revamp, the sink had big crack and the shower had to be hand held as no attachment to put it. A shower mat would bd good to. Hand towels would be good to. No room safe but to be fair we didn't ask at reception so there could be one there.

Review 85:This hotel is right by station and bus stop that does airport run and less than 10minute walk into the town. It was clean and tidy but very basic but we used it to sleep in so not really a problem. There is wifi and friends who had the breakfast said it was good value :-D .The room was given fresh towels and beds were made, hand towels would have been good to.

Review 86:Cause it's near the train station, it's a little noisy so light sleepers are not recommended, and the staff there cannot speak English, also the sound isolation is not so good.

Review 87:The location is excellent cause it's just a few minutes from the beautiful beach and 3 minutes from the train station.

Review 88:We loves Menton 3:d time we stays here its perfect and the private hotell parking he saved for me because we come in the night... No problem to get the room. Excellent service from the owner and staff... Will stay longer next time... Thomas and Junior from Sweden

Review 89:When I arrived to hotel, they told me that there is no my reservation and no free rooms. I showed my confirmed reservation, but the receptionist started to blame booking.com in bad working and so on.

Review 90:There is no iron & ironing board...which for a hotel is necessary. Another small thing I would have liked is a travel adaptor that can be loaned to guests and charged to a guests bill if not returned.

Review 91:The location of the hotel is ideal for those who are looking for a base to travel from. The train/bus/coach station is in close walking distance. The room was clean, spacious and appropriately furnished. As a solo traveller, it met my needs.

Review 92:My confirming e-mail said that reception was open till 2330 but when wearrived at 2200 it had closed at 2130. a helpful person came though whenwe rang the number

Review 93:Good for the price!

Review 94:Unfriendly staff not bothering to help much. Parking is on the streetand it is almost impossible to find parking space. There is a publicparking nearby which is advertised as free in the hotel description, butactually costs 11 Euro for 12 hours. Building, rooms and facilities arevery old. The furniture in the room is very basic. There is one toileton each floor shared by about 10 rooms, but on our floor it was out oforder so we had to go downstairs. That makes about 20 rooms serviced byone single toilet. Guess if we had the chance to use it. I do travel alot, but this was one of the worst places I've been. So before youbook, make your homework and read what the reviews say about the placeyou are about to book.

Review 95:Location.

Review 96:We liked most everything. A few little things like drinking glasses,a toilet paper holder and kleenex would have been nice. But the price and accommodation over shadowed that.

Review 97:Comfort, privacy, location and helpful staff. This is an unexpected little gem of a place--only 10 rooms--with a high quality set evening menu all but Sundays in their restaurant. Locals ate there as well as guests.

Review 98:small room very basic

Review 99:low price

Review 100:Very close to the train station so very convenient. Just a 5-10 minute walk to the beach.

Review 101:Terrible dirty shared facilities. Staff could not speak english.

Review 102:Room was big and had a washbasin

Review 103:L'accueil, le service.

Review 104:for the service
