Reviews for Hotel L'Océan

Review 1:The single beds are very narrow for adults. The grounds and pool area of the hotel are small and although beautifully laid out it is quite difficult to find private space but there is always the beach!

Review 2:Great style cozy and comfortable . Lots of interesting items placed around the buildings and grounds. Great food eaten in very nice surroundings served by very pleasant people!

Review 3:Challenging to locate due to insufficient instructions. You need to supply more information. Rooms basic but adequate.

Review 4:Good ambiance. Good menu. Pleasant helpful staff.

Review 5:There needs to be a shower curtain as the floor gets wet and it's carpet. Breakfast chef needs to learn how to boil an egg properly.

Review 6:Restaurant very good. I can still remember the taste of the fantastic prawns.

Review 7:Our room was probably the only one not overlooking the garden or pool. It was at street level and we were uncomfortable opening the window.

Review 8:Charming hotel with good restaurant and pleasant enclosed garden.

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:The hosts were extremely welcoming and spoke good English. They were very hands on serving dinner each night. Choice of inside or outside sitting. Our bedroom was by the pool and very spacious. Hotel centrally position on island and close to popular beach.

Review 11:Nothing to dislike

Review 12:The restaurant is extremely busy and is frequented by just about everyone on the island. The staff are really friendly and efficient. Has it's own pool and private parking too.

Review 13:There was no fan in our room (although we didn't think to ask for one), and it was sometimes uncomfortably warm at night. Also, our room wasn't cleaned on one day.

Review 14:The hotel grounds were very pretty, the pool area was lovely and the location - a short cycle to the beach - was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English.

Review 15:none

Review 16:staff and food were fantastic

Review 17:Smiling friendliness and efficiency of the staff, quirky decor and delicious food.

Review 18:Nothing!,

Review 19:Friendly reception and service. Wonderful room and bed and quite, so slept very well. Great decor and atmosphere!!

Review 20:We have stayed there before and enjoyed it, but they have stopped trying. Will not go there again.

Review 21:The staff were very nice and the food was excellent. A nice relaxed ambiance.

Review 22:The staff, the room, the food, the hotel courtyard and, of course, Ile de Re itself.

Review 23:Very friendly and helpful. Excellent English.Book table for dinner to avoid disappointment as restaurant popular with the locals

Review 24:Fabulous breakfast Super private parking Excellent location

Review 25:A very stiff plug in the sink

Review 26:Food

Review 27:a bit of a sticky start as the receptionist spoke as much English as we spoke French. But we spoke slower and all was well. Parking is a little away from the hotel but we were lucky to get a space outside hotel

Review 28:Décor fabulous and great atmosphere. wonderful archways of jasmine and roses in the main courtyard. We had dinner there it was excellent and breakfast next morning in the dining room was perfect with fabulous croissants and homemade jams and marmalade.

Review 29:There are room fans if it gets too warm, though no air conditioning in the rooms. It was perfect when I was there, but may get warmer by August.

Review 30:I absolutely loved everything about L'Ocean. Breakfast under the jasmine in the morning, the lovely pool, the little courtyards, and my charming room with a little balcony. Heaven. Staff are wonderful too.

Review 31:The fact that we couldn't stay longer.

Review 32:Everything. It was a very pleasant stay, lovely room, friendly staff who always had a happy face and friendly greeting and great food in the restaurant. Fine breakfast in a lovely courtyard.

Review 33:I was staying at the hotel with my husband and my ten month old son. We were given a ridiculously small room upstairs, that we couldn't get the pram up to and had no space for us to move around once we were in there with all of our cases. When I asked if we could change rooms the member of staff at reception was incredibly rude and said it wasn't possible. I knew that not everyone had checked in yet as our friends who were meeting us there had not arrived. When I saw their rooms once they had checked in they were much bigger and were on the ground floor - both rooms that would have been much more suitable for a small family. Our room was also incredibly hot and there was no air conditioning or a fan. We had to borrow a fan from the spa, but was asked to return this every morning before 10am. The room was 28 degrees with the fan on. This is morbidly hot for a baby. Also, the cot that had been provided had burn holes in it. There was also no facilities such as a kettle for boiling water for my babies bottles or a safe. Very poor.

Review 34:when asked for more toiletries after room had been cleaned we were told that we only get toiletries on the first night as they were expensive! (we were staying 3 nights!) never have stayed in a hotel where they were not replaced especially as the soap we had left was taken. at £160 per night the cost of a few small toiletries is really marginal. breakfast disappointing unless you like freshly baked bread and croissants. choice of fresh fruit not great: apples and kiwis was an odd choice as at the market there was loads of choice of local greengages plums nectarines etc. poor choice of cereals unless you liked the unhealthy stuff no ordinary musli only the sugary crispy type and kellogs and some other. just a bowl of oats and choices of seeds would have been great . coffee in a big flask which kept on running out as soon as they brought it out. hotel was full for breakfast and they only had one big flask of coffee going at a time.

Review 35:Greta location to explore the isalnd on bike. Hotel very clean relaxing court yard and swimming pool very welcome after a days out cycling. the evening meals were of a very high standard and always offered daily specials.would definitely recommend staying at the hotel and eating there.

Review 36:difficult to find a parking place, difficult to get to the hotel by car due to the small streets and one-way streets. No air-condition in the room. As the windows were facing the street/court they could not be kept open.

Review 37:Friendly and helpful staff, nice decorated room, very good restaurant

Review 38:A lack of a warm friendly welcome,We wanted to like it but atmosphere left us feeling cold, needs some heart and soul, style above substance. Rooms on road side very noisey first thing in morning.

Review 39:stylish hotel, with charming gardens.

Review 40:No wifi in rooms No air condition Room on the street very noisy Lack of flexibility of staff Small bathroom

Review 41:Family hotel Swimming pool Good restaurant

Review 42:overpriced . lacking in basics like a hairdrier. Expensive breakfast - so didn't bother. Room was underneath another - a lot of noise from above .

Review 43:location

Review 44:WiFi slow and not in the rooms. No shelves in the cupboard. Not enough electric points and it is not practical that they switch on/off with the room light.

Review 45:Space. Garden. Beds are excellent. Relaxing atmosphere. Good breakfast.

Review 46:Nothing.I and my grown up children have stayed here many times.
