Reviews for Hotel de Normandie
Review 1:Not bad but we didn't see anyone at all ! Everything was fine but we were not told this was the case - no dining room so no breakfast or evening meal.
Review 2:Being able to park nearby, close to shops and restaurants.
Review 3:Breakfast should be better; No choice for cheese and No fresh fruit for the price I think it's a little bit expensensive. I frequently go to Red IbIS and the breakfast is highter qualitity and choise. Otherwhise good stay
Review 4:Large room with very good accomodation and very confortable bed. Quiet, so a very good rest
Review 5:We were initially given a room smelling of cigarette smoke. The room was also drab. The room next door was duly given and was much better in every way. There was TV noise from the room below, fortunately it did not go on late. When a hotel has low occupancy and thin floors, why align rooms? Two flights of stairs with luggage. Conflicting late entry times from the staff.
Review 6:It is in a good down town location, its not far to anything. Car parking is a reasonable price.
Review 7:Dinner was over cooked, the tuna was dry, the vegetables were ruined and the desert was better left alone. Very disappointing meal and not cheap. Avoid restaurant at all cost!
Review 8:Lovely room and bathroom in a stylish building full of character. Easy car parking. Close to centre of town.
Review 9:No staff on Sunday did not have code tried to ring through no one there answerphone in room 8 could not get Wifi had to go out in the hall shower lose tile & not inviting at all quite black
Review 10:Safe parking convenient location
Review 11:We were well cared for when we ran into difficulties. I was unexpectedly admitted in to hospital for five days, and M.et Mme Lechevrel guided and helped my wife superbly throughout a prolonged stay with them. Food, wine and service were all first class..
Review 12:Service in the restaurant was condescending. We weren't offered table water and bought a bottle for €5 before realising we could have had tap water. The food was good but quite expensive. Wine list was good but again on the expensive side.
Review 13:Lovely old fashioned hotel 2 minutes walk from the centre of Evreux. The room was nicely decorated and there were tea and coffee-making facilities. The restaurant was in a beautiful old oak-beamed hall and the tables were large and well spaced apart. The food was good although a little on the expensive side.
Review 14:A lovely hotel with character and is a good location. Room was large with very comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom with shower. Breakfast was excellent and staff were very helpful, professional and friendly.
Review 15:Nice family run hotel. We didn't have time to relax in their garden. Comfy beds AND pillows. Located a stone throw away from the centre of town. Good breakfast. Overall, great budget overbight alternative for our cycling group.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Excellent hotel. My third stay - it seems to get better each time. Excellent restaurant and staff were very attentive despite a major function assembling as I checked in. Very secure parking behind a substantial locked gate.
Review 18:There was not enough of hot water to take a shower. A ladder that is fixed on the wall near parking space, fell off, could damage our car.
Review 19:It was a great value for money...
Review 20:Modern facilities within an old world charm building. Clean and comfortable. Excellent restaurant with facility to dine inside or out. On a main thoroughfare and therefore easy to find whilst at the same time being an oasis of calm and tranquility. Good breakfast with wide choice. Good, secure parking - small charge and reservation essential but well worth it.
Review 21:Our children's twin room had a bath, but no shower other than one attached to the bath tap, and not able to attach to the wall. No milk for tea/coffee in the room.
Review 22:Lovely restaurant in hotel. Breakfast typical European, and write simplistic. 10 Euro cost. Room was simple, but nice and clean. Friendly staff. Great secure parking, but book in advance.
Review 23:Breakfast was only served from 0800hrs, so we had to miss out due to time constraints
Review 24:It was an ideal location for a stop off during our long journey back to the seaports. The hotel was clean and tidy and bedroom very comfortable and quiet.
Review 25:The staff were VERY friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was excellent and at a good price. Great location with a secure car park. Cant fault it and will be returning next year to spend more time exploring the area.
Review 26:Spent a night in this hotel and ate in. The meal was excellent with a good choice of food and drinks. We paid for parking behind the hotel. The room was quite big and we had a huge bathroom with a corner bath. There was a good choice at breakfast too.
Review 27:We paid 5 Euro to pay for private parking which was fine, but in the morning the car was so covered in bird poo - that we needed to give it good clean first!
Review 28:Great rooms and lovely restaurant
Review 29:We were not warned that the restaurant would not be open on Sunday evening. As the Hotel Normandie is advertised as a 'Hotel/restaurant' we were looking forward to an authentic French meal on our last night in France. Though the recommended Thai restaurant we went to instead was excellent, we were very disappointed and felt we had let down the friends we were travelling with
Review 30:Our room was very well appointed and very comfortable. There are many stylish touches throughout the hotel. The staff were welcoming, helpful and efficient.
Review 31:Nothing really
Review 32:Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent secure parking. Very good breakfast. The room was spotlessly clean though on the smallish side. Whilst not a luxury hotel it offers excellent value for money by friendly staff
Review 33:We were on the front of the hotel and if we opened our windows ( it was very hot ) people on the street could see in easily. There was no issue with noise and it was Saturday night.
Review 34:Very helpful staff. Hair dryer in bathroom and tea and coffee facilities available. Great location with bars and restaurants 100 meters away. Very easy to find
Review 35:The room was very small, breakfast was 10 euros and the limited parking was 5 euros a night. It was very hot during our stayand there was no air conditioning.
Review 36:The shower was excellent and there was ample free parking near to the hotel. Our room overlooked the courtyard and we were able to have the windows open all night.
Review 37:No air-conditioning even no ventilation, in summer the room is like a sauna, not pleasant at all. Drinks in the hotel are very expensive.
Review 38:the location is ok, close to restaurants.
Review 39:Relative to other places, indifferent and expensive food. Our room opposite noisy kitchen extractor fan, especially with hot evening and wanting to open windows. Wi-Fi signal kept cutting out. Would only return if no alternative.
Review 40:Good location for our return journey to Calais. Tea/coffee making facilities in our room.
Review 41:Rooms really hot and stuffy. Dreadful wifi which we regretted pain for and a poor breakfast with limited choice and moderate quality.
Review 42:Nice ambience and location
Review 43:Room cramped with unnecessary extra chair. High powered shower head but no shower curtain in bath which made it a challenge not to soak the bathroom!
Review 44:Secure parking at very reasonable rate. Excellent breakfast. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 45:Very nice hotel, in a good location for us. Very welcoming and helpful staff and good sized room. The restaurant was lovely. Evreux was a pleasant surprise in itself. What a lovely town centre.
Review 46:Everything about this hotel is wonderful. Only stayed one night but could happily stay several. Extremely relaxing, comfortable and professional. Will even park your car in tight car park if having trouble!
Review 47:small portions in the restaurant, but this might be normal for the area, as we didn't eat anywhere else we do not have a comparison.
Review 48:great location, doorstep secure parking, great rooms and bathroom, friendly patron on reception. We would stay again.
Review 49:The long trek up two flight of stairs and along a long dingy corridor to our room! Hard work with no lift. But that's the only thing.
Review 50:We struggled to find it initially - but got there in the end. Really handy for the town but parking is not easy if you haven't booked parking. Great welcome - very friendly and helpful. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we are vegetarian and most dishes were meaty, but we heard it was good. But loads of choice a short walk away. A great overnight stay in a really characterful hotel.
Review 51:Price of breakfast a bit higher than some hotels.Evening meal was nothing special, would eat out next time.
Review 52:Very close to city centre.Excellent friendly service.Luxurious room.Tea/coffe making facilities.Large bathroom with bath& shower.Secure parking.Very quiet at night.
Review 53:car park charge and paying for water with meal no lift to top two floors bit hard with large suit case hallway dark
Review 54:hotel was lovely quiet peacefully very clean staff very helpful and friendly room spotless bed real soft had a great nights sleep no sounds at all
Review 55:The other room was very poor, the shower door was falling to bits and in general the room was tried, we ate in the restaurant and had breakfast where the food was over priced and of a poor standard.
Review 56:One room was nice in the old part of the hotel. The staff on reception tried hard and the restaurant staff were also very pleasant.
Review 57:Our room was facing a busy road and with no double glazing was a bit noisy. It was very hot when we were there and with no air conditioning not being able to have the windows open due to noise was a problem
Review 58:Private parking with no height restriction, I drive a 4x4 with roof box so nice not to have an underground car park. This one is open and very secure
Review 59:did not realise it was a bank holiday in France. Hotel closed up most evenings, no service or staff after 9 pm needed a pass to get into gateway, good job we kept key with us as in darkness on return nightly. Staff were not multilingual on explanationss
Review 60:friendly family hotel, good position for visiting sites.
Review 61:Staff were curiously abrupt in manner. The there were about 40 diners the hotel only possessed two wine lists!
Review 62:Hotel was in excellent position with car parking.
Review 63:Restaurant closed for Bank Holiday but this was beyond the control of the Hotel, it is the French way of life to observe a holiday.
Review 64:Very comfortable room
Review 65:It wasn't the management's fault that we arrived on a holiday universally observed, May1st, and so the restaurant was closed.. This was a pity because it looked the real McCoy.
Review 66:Pleasant staff, unobtrusive traditional Normandy decor, comfort, very good breakfast.
Review 67:Restaurant was very very busy on Saturday and staff were overwhelmed - so we left and went somewhere else. On Sunday it was closed!
Review 68:Comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast.
Review 69:Sadly no toiletries supplied as stated online. 2 types of tea and only 1 teabag of each. I felt that was a litle on the mean side.
Review 70:Good shower. Very convenient having a good restaurant in the hotel.
Review 71:No lift, narrow steep stairs. Reception closes at 21.30hr in the evening.
Review 72:Nice old building with character, secure parking, friendly staff, central location.
Review 73:Bed was a little bit hard for my wife although I slept very well on it. Lights on the second floor corridor were action tripped although they also needed to be switched on on the first floor. The resulting gloom meant that descending the stairs was fraught with difficulty. I managed to trip on a couple of occasions.
Review 74:The hotel was just where we needed it having been to Monet's Garden and on the way to Brionne for their Sunday Market. It was conveniently an the way.
Review 75:An atmospheric old-fashioned inn but with comfortable beds and good facilities. Breakfast was ample and served in pleasant surroundings. Rooms quiet (especially those facing the inner courtyard) whilst parking was hassle-free.
Review 76:The hotel was locked up when we arrived with just a phone number to ring. This is normal at this hotel on Sundays and Fridays, but there was no indication on the website. It seems the staff ring the arriving guests to give them the code and then leave the room key at reception. The corridors were dark, and we had to descend the last staircase in near darkness with luggage when checking out. The breakfast was the least generous we have had in French hotels for a long time.
Review 77:Corrine, the receptionist, was charming and helpful. Also, a lovely lady who works in the restaurant saw us trying to get in (she was passing by and not on duty) and opened the doors to let the car in as well as checking us in all in her own time.
Review 78:I can't say what the breakfast was like but I never like what hotels charge. The price here is 10.50 euro per person we had a nice breakfast in the cafe and it cost less than that for both of us. A more reasonable price for hotels to charge in my opinion would be around 6 euro each.
Review 79:The hotel is old but very nice and clean and the staff very friendly the room was very clean warm and comfortable, but the shower was great I love a shower where there is plenty of water pressure. The town itself is steeped in history with a wonderful cathedral and museum we had a very pleasant stay.
Review 80:Little to dislike. Some corridors and public areas in need of a refresh. No lift.
Review 81:Secure parking. Comfortable quiet room Good restaurant Central location. Dog friendly. Big breakfast.
Review 82:When we stayed not busy but as an old building perhaps soundproofing not as good as a new building but not intrusive.
Review 83:Lovely hotel close to all amenities and sites. Staff v helpful and English speaking. Excellent hotel with good restaurant and lovely room.
Review 84:I think that a smile from the person on the reception desk would make your stay excellent.
Review 85:Food is fresh, well coked and excellent, very high standard, prices are good value.
Review 86:The room was too hot at night and the bed too small. It transpired that the hotel has only recently changed ownership and the new owners are in the process of refurbishing it. We would very actively consider returning on a future occasion to see how the business has been developed .
Review 87:The service , food and attention to detail in the restaurant was excellent, as were the staff - friendly and helpful. The facilities in the room met all our needs ( except wifi which was In the process of being organised). Off street parking was a great benefit. The whole stopover ( one night) offered good value for money.
Review 88:That we only planned to stay for one night, as we headed down to the Loire valley. A good place to stay, if you are visiting the nearby area.
Review 89:Hotel bang in the town centre! Attentive and friendly staff. Quiet and peaceful. Small stream runs past the car park. An old coaching inn, with understated charm, as you drive through under the beams. The continental breakfast offered a wide selection. Our room was well appointed, with really comfy beds, after a long day traveling. The cathedral in Evreux is a must to see - day or night. We found the Zebra restaurant just off the square - for good meal with local produce
Review 90:It's picky, but the corridors need attention.
Review 91:The room was beautifully refurbished. The staff were attentive and the evening meal yum, and good value for money.
Review 92:Having to pay 5 euros to use hotel car park in a 'semi rurallocation' given the cost of the hotel. Just 2 satchels of tea &coffee and having to ask for a little milk, which was begrudginglygiven, for the so called complimentary tray.
Review 93:Car parking in secure car park rear of hotel. Attractive well furnishedroom. Restaurant looked nice but did not use it. Hotel has attractivefeatures and easy to walk to local cafés and restaurants. Would stayagain but moderate my expectations.
Review 94:Room we were in very tired decor however I realise in process of renovation with new owners so I hope bedroom is same standard eventually same as the rest.
Review 95:Very helpful and nice reception and bar area. Good value and definetly recommend.
Review 96:Although we had booked dinner for 8pm the restaurant was closed due tothe decoration work which started that day. However no-one had told usdespite having my e-mail and mobile number.
Review 97:The Location and friendly staff
Review 98:Beautiful old building, very comfortable
Review 99:Room was too warm, shower was very powerful but the head sprayed every where, needs a new shower head...
Review 100:Food was very good...
Review 101:The additional charge for parking
Review 102:Cheerful.
Review 103:Lack of lighting on the staircases, which were because of there age, were severe.
Review 104:Very good renovated room, clean.
Review 105:Good price but charging ¢10 each for breakfast and ¢5 for carparking was unfortunate
Review 106:No lift.
Review 107:Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent evening meal.
Review 108:Easy to find. Lovely owners. High end restaurant. Great food and wine. Restaurant staff well trained. Comfortable room.
Review 109:An exellent example of being in france.Evreux has a lot to offer.
Review 110:Stairway and corridor look a bit shabby, but there is nothing wrong with the room. Quiet and pleasant. Good breakfast. Friendly reception.
Review 111:The food in their restaurant was excellent. Staff were brilliant.
Review 112:Nothing.
Review 113:Friendly staff, safe convenient parking, great restaurant.
Review 114:A bit faded and basic.
Review 115:Convenient location, own parking and good for a stop over.
Review 116:Chaotic service in restaurant. Bar not open for pre-dinner drinks. Room small and rather tired
Review 117:Excellent location, very French ambience, food good
Review 118:Unfortunately our room was on the second floor & without a lift to get our luggage there.
Review 119:Very pleasant stay. Excellent location.
Review 120:No bad experiences
Review 121:Excellent location and really friendly, helpful staff
Review 122:Would have liked a larger room for the price - but not a serious problem.
Review 123:Convenience for parking the car, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 124:Friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location.
Review 125:Location near cathedral Safe parking Friendly welcoming staff Very good evening meal
Review 126:Bed was so soft room clean staff very welcoming came out when we arrived advised re parking dinner available without booking
Review 127:Room a bit small and basic.
Review 128:Forgot our booking for dinner - but rectified the situation by fitting us in - good meal.
Review 129:Location, hotel was clean, staff friendly, secure parking and a great restaraunt.
