Reviews for Hôtel Vacances Bleues Balmoral
Review 1:street noise disturbing a lot at night, breakfast is just Continental - choice of bread very poor
Review 2:nice view to the sea, lovely building style, close to the town center
Review 3:No tea and coffee making facilities in room, even though we had a mini suite. Nowhere to sit in shade (lack of umbrellas) in outside Solarium area. Even though this is provided at hotel next store which had same solarium on top of a roof. Attitude of one member of staff on reception (not very accomodating!). We are regular visitors to Menton, having previously stayed in another hotel, we were not overall impressed with our first stay at Balmoral.
Review 4:Location, location, location, perfect for visiting Old town.
Review 5:Sun bed area dirty, very unkept, made staff aware, but the area was the same the next day. Breakfast available until 10am, but guests arriving after 9.25am had limited choice, having to request breakfast food. Housekeeping was varied... Clean towels daily, however beds not made... Just covers thrown over.
Review 6:Location excellent. Comfortable bed. Most staff good, helpful.
Review 7:Room too small. Bed too small. No fridge, kettle, parking. Air con poor. Very little left for breakfast by 9.30!
Review 8:Location. Across the road from the beach. Close to old town and marina. Close to shops, restaurants, bars.
Review 9:If you leave the hotel by one door You are in the shopping aera. If You leave the hotel by another door You are on the Beach. Very Cold in Denmark lovely temparature in Menton.
Review 10:this isn't the fault of the hotel, I found the traffic on the promenade intrusive at times.
Review 11:the location of the hotel is excellent. the staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was very good...rooms had a lovely provencal charm.. bathrooms while small were very clean.
Review 12:Breakfast was unimpressive - stale bread and croissants. Yoghurt (packaged) and jams were OK, coffee not great. An extra sheet was supplied as requested.
Review 13:Location is excellent, close to the old town, restaurants, sites.
Review 14:It's a drag having to go down to reception to get WiFi. And we had mosquitoes, in March. (There was a flat roof about 50 metres from our room, with pipework and what look like permanent puddles, which is where I guess they breed.)
Review 15:Wonderful view from the balcony. And the front desk staff were friendly, capable, helpful, and had endless patience even with the most difficult guests. Amazing.
Review 16:No wi-fi in the rooms but good quality in the lobby
Review 17:Excellent and very responsive staff. I requested the room with the balcony during the booking and my request was fullfilled. Rooms always tidy.
Review 18:Restaurant food was average on an evening. Better food to be had elsewhere for the same price
Review 19:Comfy bed, good shower, superb location (near shops and restaurants), staff spoke english, great breakfast buffet
Review 20:Breakfast is available between 7.15 and 10am, I asked if was possible to have a pre packed breakfast to go at 6.30am, they said ok, but then nothing was ready and they didn't have a clue what to do They only have Internet access in the lobby, not available in the rooms
Review 21:Location is really good, near the beach and near the old town where no cars are allowed
Review 22:France should be ashamed to have so much low standards for hotel buildings quality, renovation needed. No internet in the room! Crazy nowadays.
Review 23:Staff very friendly.
Review 24:Would've a jacuzzi but that's minor
Review 25:Closeness to all. Even with my language limitations, all were willing to help. Staff was nice & prompt. Cute room with a sea view was perfect & Menton a good base to explore Exe, Monte Carlo, the Rothschild mansion & gardens plus Karylos chateau is nearby & Fabius. Nice is handy plus airport can be reached fast
Review 26:Aircondition didn't work for 2 days at the hotel. Very hot in the rooms at night, but they didn't want to change bed linen, they told us they only change bed linen once a week. Toiletries only given once regardless length of stay. Very few younger people staying at hotel.
Review 27:Location
Review 28:No fridges in rooms, no glasses. Little concept of customer service. At times you felt more like an inmate of a sanatorium than a paying guest.
Review 29:Location, position and views are outstanding. Beds are good and peaceful uninterrupted sleep.
Review 30:WiFi was only in the lobby and not available in the rooms.
Review 31:Great location, right on the beach and in the centre of shops, restaurants, etc. Very clean and comfortable.
Review 32:Poor breakfast saucers for plates steak knives for butter Most of the people were very old you would think you we're in an old people's home bedrooms small even smaller bathrooms shame as outside looks very nice
Review 33:Location fantastic
Review 34:Even though we was on holiday the locals still have to go to work - so noisy traffic from about 5.30am.
Review 35:We had the biggest balcony and it was lovely to open the patio doors to look out to the sea/beach which was across the road. Enough to choose from at breakfast. We also liked the terrace where there was sun beds and parasols if you did not want to go on the beach.
Review 36:While I am eating breakfast in a terrace seat, a pigeon will take those food. I take a sea view room, but I could not see the sea enough.
Review 37:Hotel location is good.
Review 38:Aircon didn't work. Engineer came promptly to fix it, and it worked for a short period then stopped again. We were charged for 3 dinners instead of two. When I pointed out the error it took some time to readjust and no apology was given. Restaurant dinner was unimpressive.
Review 39:Great location. Nice public areas. Good breakfast
Review 40:Request to have bed settee made up as a bed was not followed.
Review 41:The mini suite which was quite spacious and had a wonderful sea view from both front and side.

Review 63:site,convenience,ambience
Review 64:No plates at breakfast !
Review 65:Rooms relatively small WiFi only in the lobby and relatively slow
Review 66:Location Don't be surprised the majority of the guests where older than 60
Review 67:a bit aging, small rooms
Review 68:close to the beach and the city efficient and nice personnel
Review 69:no shampoo , no pool, a bit old
Review 70:Air con was weak and I would imagine in the hotter months it could be a problem.
Review 71:Menton is beautiful and this hotel was a perfect location on the sea front by the old town.
Review 72:Terrible problems when booking as they refused our credit card a numberof times - very incompetent. When sorted we were told a gift would be inour room and a voucher for a free drink. Nothing there!! We had bookedtwo rooms with Sea Views. Our friends got one - they tried to put us ina tiny annex when we arrived at 10.pm - they said they had problems asguests had overstayed due to rail strike. They put us in back room whichwas bigger. Sea View cost £20 Euros more but we did not get a refund.Second day they moved us into a much better room with sea view and leftus half a bottle of wine and a voucher for a free drink.Whilst the breakfast was OK no-one seemed to be clearing tables and dishes mounted up around us. Also food ran out and was only replenished when people asked - they seemed short staffed. The hotel has seen better days but has a style that fits in with the locality. We had a great time but had to be tolerant and patient at times and a bit stroppy at other times in order to get full enjoyment.
Review 73:Loved location. Sea View was great - our room opened on to a terracewhere we could sit out and enjoy view and a glass of our own wine.Breakfast had reasonable choice and quality. Night Porter Laurent to becommended for service.
Review 74:There is no wifi connection in the rooms.
Review 75:The location is perfect. The rooms having a view to the sea are very pleasant. The reception staff is very kind and helpful. The breakfast is delicious.
Review 76:No wifi in rooms and limited in lobby Bedding horrible Towels and other bathroom amenities badly in need of upgrading Carpet in our room overdue for replacement
Review 77:View was spectacular Spacious rooms
Review 78:No specific bar...and closing at 9.30 not good..the restaurant did not offer enough choice to make us want to eat there...
Review 79:The view from our room and from reception.. The staff on reception were very helpful...The breakfast was just right..the location to the promenade excellent..
Review 80:Evening meal only average, but plenty of good restaurants in the nearby town centre.
Review 81:Very attractive elegant hotel, with excellent rooms and public areas. Well positioned. Staff obliging and most helpful. Breakfast good, with plenty of choice including cereals.
Review 82:Double room had two single beds pushed together (with a gap between) and with single duvets. WiFi only available in lobby (not in bedrooms or even in dining room). Poor selection of TV stations - only BBC World News was in in English.
Review 83:Good value out of season. Very convenient town centre location. Love Menton whatever time of year. (In our mid-forties we were the youngest guests by 20-30 years which some reviewers might not like but didn't bother us).
Review 84:No parking at the hotel (but this was clearly stated by the hotel). No fridge at the room.
Review 85:In the middle of the city centre. Very close to the beach. Nice location and most rooms with balcony.
Review 86:What was there to 'not like'? I cannot remember however, if the usual warnings about what to do in an emergency were available in the room. '
Review 87:We loved our room, the breakfast on offer, the comfort provided by good heating and cleanliness. We appreciated how hard the young at reception worked - dealing with phone, people using the bar, breakfast and general enquiries. She was helpful on every front, bright, and well-mannered.
Review 88:Simply put, the worst hotel I have ever put up in Europe in my travelsover the last four years. The staff, facilities everything is in verybad shape.
Review 89:Very helpful staff Lovely gardens for sitting out
Review 90:Great location, loved the room with balcony and great sea views, excellent breakfast
Review 91:Wireless internet should be throughout the hotel, not only in reception
Review 92:Nice hotel, clean and modern rooms, friendly staff, breakfast was fine.
Review 93:Breakfast very limited, no soap/shampoo in the room
Review 94:Nice hotel close to city centre, got a free upgrade to room with sea view.
Review 95:Horrendous service at breakfast when shortage of either staff and/or cutlery and chinaware along with slow production of edibles!
Review 96:Location in front of the sea
