Reviews for Hôtel De L'octroi

Review 1:Arriving to find hotel closed, however via an intercom we were informed to continue a further 150m to a replacement hotel. Upon arrival the receptionist did al, she could to assist with our re-arranged accommodation for the night. Apparently the original hotel is now closed for renovation, pity Booking.com did not make us aware of this!

Review 2:A good nights sleep in a comfortable bed and room.

Review 3:Nicely refurbished hotel, with nice and bright colours. The lighting in the rooms as well as in the lobby is excellent (no dim lights) and makes the stay very pleasant. Breakfast was very good and even served at the table. Personnel is very friendly and helpful.

Review 4:Staff were brilliant, so helpful and friendly. Loved the little pool and jacuzzi - a real treat. The breakfasts were awesome and well worth the 12 euros.

Review 5:Seating around the swimming pool extremely uncomfortable did not encourage lingering, which was a shame because the pool was kept in spotless condition.

Review 6:Cheerful and efficient greeting upon arrival, set the tone for our stay. Very adequate breakfast served speedily and efficiently. Good location close to the medieval city. Sister Hotel du Chateau nearby for those aperitifs each evening, sitting outside.

Review 7:Nothing bad

Review 8:The breakfast was top quality food and nicely served. The room was very stylish as well as comfortable. Handy place to leave the car, albeit at a cost.

Review 9:A slight clinical appearence

Review 10:Location was excellent for visiting the old city. Staff were very helpful, and friendly..The bedroom and bathroom were spotless with very comfortable beds. Breakfast was enjoyable with a variety of breads and croissant, some ham and cheese and /or a boiled egg, yoghurt and fresh apple juice. Overall good value for money.

Review 11:Limited choice of drinks at the bar and no fridge in the room.

Review 12:Great location and friendly staff although. We have stayed before and recommended it to our group of friends. We would return again.

Review 13:Breakfast price was too high. Not even expensive: just, too high to make sense.

Review 14:It's really close to the medieval city, just a walk. Small, nice pool to have fun with the kids.

Review 15:Great location and the staff fabulous. Lillianne was extremely helpful and knew answers to all questions. Breakfast was lovely and it's a great boutique hotel with excellent soundproofing from the road. Would definitely return.

Review 16:WiFi not very reliable in room - ok in reception and bar. Only one bottle of red wine in bar!

Review 17:Excellent location for access to medieval city, train station and airport. Very clean and comfortable. Friendly, multilingual receptionist.

Review 18:the 3 person room was small and would have been very cramped with 3 people in it! there was a dark wardrobe which we could barely see inside. there were no drawers for storing clothes except in the bathroom which would have been too damp to use for undies. the 3 stools and plethora of, nice, cushions meant that you could not move around for superfluous décor items. Also think the pool is always in shade?

Review 19:the smiling staff, brilliant location 5 mins up hill to the cite, fresh food for good breakfast, bold and brave colours all round, good safe parking for good price

Review 20:I did report a foul smell in our room and a very helpful member of staff said she would report it and come back to us after she had spoken to the manager but no further communication was received.

Review 21:Good location, friendly staff, comfy room.

Review 22:the room for 3 of us - 2 adults + 1 child - was tiny and not really big enough. I did ask if there was a bigger one available but only if we paid an extra 100 euros which would have been excessive

Review 23:liked decor, terrace with small pool very welcome in the heat. breakfast excellent.

Review 24:it s not a warmfull wellcome not enough staff in the morning 1 pax to serve breakfast and for check out : we have to wait for breakfast

Review 25:location, free weefee,calm

Review 26:Great suite that allowed my wife and me in one bedroom, 15 year old son in the other bedroom and 13 year old daughter on the sofa bed. Really easy access to the cite. Secure parking. Great breakfast.

Review 27:There was nothing to dislike, however the pool is very small.

Review 28:The staff were excellent, the breakfast was great albeit a little expensive, the place was clean and tidy, the room was good too.

Review 29:The rooms are rather small but had full facilities and we did book just the standard room.

Review 30:Very close to Le Cite Recently completely refurbished Swimming pool small but very pleasant on a hot afternoon Staff very accommodating

Review 31:Pool is quite small but really overall this is a very minor point.

Review 32:Location excellent a short walk from the medieval city. Couldn't have been more helpful when my daughter was ill. Good facilities and lovely breakfast though it cost extra.

Review 33:The air conditioner box outside my window was noisy one night. I reported it and it was sorted right away.

Review 34:Clean and modern hotel with a small pool. Great shower in bathroom. Very nice staff. Good value for money. Delicious breakfast with everything made from local produce.

Review 35:Breakfast was steep at 12 euros, so we opted to walk up to the medieval city and take our breakfast in a cafe there.

Review 36:Easy check-in / out, friendly staff, clean and modern, quiet, great location.

Review 37:A little more shelving in room required and fresh fruit at breakfast would be good.

Review 38:Great location just outside the medieval centre, bar and pool area was also great and very helpful staff. Comfortable bed.

Review 39:There were no loungers at pool, only hard uncomfortable seats.

Review 40:The hotel is modern and clean, rooms small but had everything we required. The hotels provides towels for use at pool.

Review 41:WiFi a bit iffy in our room 274, OK in reception. Don't do full service dinner (do attractive snacks though) but so so many good eateries within easy walk why bother!!

Review 42:Everything from staff to location. So friendly staff, contact with at least 6 members, nothing enough trouble. Room great, well decorated and presented. Just a stones throw from Old City.

Review 43:Swimming pool much smaller than expected. Paid for larger superior room, but was bit disappointment to get a smaller room with damaged carpet, however only staying 1 night so did not comment.

Review 44:Good location. Nice decor.

Review 45:The staff could not have been more helpful, even though there were very few about, and worked very hard. I had a problem with wifi, but was shown how to use it by a very patient receptionist.

Review 46:Asked for a quite room and extra pillows and got a noisy room on main road and no pillows. Also curtains did not close and light made it difficult to sleep. However room was changed next day without fuss.

Review 47:Location

Review 48:The room was very tight. The hotel goes for a very trendy feel where public spaces are "chic" but less money has been spent on the actual rooms where you spend your time. An aside: Carcassonne is a completely recreated "medieval" structure. All the travel guides rave about it, but it struck me as highly artificial, like Disney. Souvenir shops galore. The church is the only thing that is genuine - speaks to your spirit. You can get enough of an experience of C. just looking at pictures. I would give it a pass on an itinerary.

Review 49:The hotel is very close to the castle/fort. The receptionist was very helpful in ordering a pizza to be delivered for us. The parking is gated and secure.

Review 50:We had asked for a quiet room with a view but initially were offered a dark basement room where the pool pumps could be heard all the time. Then we were given a tiny room with stained carpets & curtains falling off the rail. Price of the hotel excluded 24 Euros for 2 breakfasts and 10 Euros per day for parking in the hotel car park. Wouldn't go to this hotel again but loved Carcassonne.

Review 51:The location was excellent, the staff were friendly and the hotel was very clean.

Review 52:We have booked a room for 3 and at the arrival we were informed that apparently we were initially allocated a 2 persons room and the only room left available for 3 persons was at the ground floor/basement. The room was not pleasant as it had very poor, semi-artificial light and it was extremely small. Moreover, the wifi was not reaching us inside that room, thus in order to catch signal we had to stay on the corridor. We asked for another room, but the receptionist was not able to offer us another option.

Review 53:Great location Nice swimming pool for having a quick swim in the morning

Review 54:the little room, though very comfortable, had no view at all

Review 55:Very friendly and helpful staff, room nice, very quiet, great as a base for exploring Carcassonne.

Review 56:Not being able to find out how the shower works???

Review 57:On arrival we were sent to the sister hotel Montmerency due to the L' octopi being renovated, an amazing place just a 3 min walk to the castle...amazing restaurants and very good value, we are already planning to go back for a long weekend later in the year

Review 58:We had a 2 bedroom suite for 4 people, but it was tiny. I guess I expected a small sitting area, but, since It was only one night, we could handle it ok. Not sure I'd want a longer stay.

Review 59:The hotel was clean, modern but the rooms were very small. Decor was basic IKEA, but that was all we needed for one night. We did not ask for breakfast as it sounded expensive, but there wasn't really anywhere close by to grab something. We had a car and paid extra for secure, private parking.

Review 60:There was no lift, to first floor which could be a problem for some with regard to luggage. Tea and coffee were not provided in the rooms. There was however a room service menu for food so possibly drinks could have been requested?

Review 61:The hotel was brilliantly situated for sightseeing. The staff were courteous and helpful. You could ask for coffee, drinks at any time. Facilities were very clean, rooms cleaned each day, fresh towels on request. The staff spoke good English which was helpful at times.I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 62:Wifi was bad in room. Needed a hard cable (ethernet) to connect. Needed to suit in the lobby to get a decent connection. I wasn't the only one, there were others in the lobby for the same reason

Review 63:Hotel is brilliantly located near the main entry to the old centre of Carcassonne. Good value for money. Parking nearby is pretty easily accessed

Review 64:I was surprised at the size of the LARGE ROOMS. I especially picked Large Rooms over average and the rooms were very small. Also decor very dark which made the rooms smaller.

Review 65:Location, Staff very friendly,.

Review 66:The only negative is the lack of a hot pot for making hot water for tea or coffee, but considering everything else, that's a very minor thing.

Review 67:The location is perfect--just outside the citadel walls but only a 7 euro taxi trip from train station (the walk is about 20 minutes). The room was small but nicely appointed and plenty of room for our stuff. Bathroom was outstanding. We'd definitely stay there again.

Review 68:Absolutely nothing

Review 69:Spotlessly clean, comfortable hotel. Friendly, helpful staff who all spoke English. Breakfast worth every euro. Ideally placed for visiting the medieval city and lovely restaurants a short walk down Rue Trivalle. A 20 minute walk over le pont vieux to the main city and the wonderful place Carnot and canal Midi. Would definitely stay here again

Review 70:Lack of restaurant facilities as although avail in the city we arrived on a Sunday evening & would have liked a "snack" eg omelette or salad as had eaten lunch on the way

Review 71:Lovely décor & super breakfast!

Review 72:Not the best signal for wi-fi in bedroom although good in reception. Swimming pool was a little on the small side. Bathtub was very small.

Review 73:Clean and comfortable. Helpful and friendly staff. Good location.

Review 74:Interesting rooms. Wonderful breakfast. Super helpful staff who went out of their way to book restaurants, taxis, make suggestions and generally very welcoming.

Review 75:However there are not that many facilities available, terrible WiFi and the hotel was very quiet with one member of staff running reception bar and resturant. This made having a drink a little awkward and we were both the only guests about the hotel on two nights. We ended up going to the sister Hotel Chateau for drinks which was fab. Location is great, but if you want something more than somewhere just to rest I would look elsewhere

Review 76:We initially liked the modern decor of the hotel and requested to change room with not much fuss, as our original room was by the main road and I am a light sleeper!

Review 77:The room was painted a dark color, very modern, but it make the room feel small and cave like.

Review 78:The hotel was pleasant and very close to the walled city which was important to us since we did not have a car. The pool was a welcome relief after the hustle and heat of the walled city. The beds were comfortable. We were not fans of Carcassonne as we found the walled city much like Disneyland. It was too crowded and too full of people. We will not return to Carcassonne. The hotel, though spendy for the condition, was a great choice. I thnk all of the hotels were overpriced in the city especially so close to the walled city.

Review 79:Very clean and tidy. A restful space very close to the Castle but only 15 min walk to Place Carnot (City Square). Lovely breakfast. Little pool was an added extra. Would def. go back. May be add a chair to the large room we had.

Review 80:the room and the equipment (bathtub, bed, wardrobe) were very tiny; compared to all other Hotels on our travel worst value for money; people were able to look from the hall into our room; therefore we had to keep closed the curtains all the time; breakfast: delivered on demand, no buffet; exactly counted peaces of cheese (2) and ham (2) per person, no alternative possible

Review 81:The parking place: secure

Review 82:Rooms needing redecorated air conditioning not very effective, I'm assuming that they are set at a certain temp to save money but considering the daily price of hotel I would expect better.

Review 83:Would recommend this hotel although it's time the rooms were re decorated as they are looking tired and for the price you would expect it to be a little less shabby. Air conditioning wasn't great either :( but that's the only complaints. We loved it the location was fab wee shop at the back entrance and great kebab shop further up the street passed shop. Staff at hotel were great, helpful & friendly :))

Review 84:Pool is shaded most of the time and a tiny wave pool. This didnt take away from our stay but was disappointing as it was a key reason we first booked

Review 85:The hotel is in a great location at the foot of the Medieval city and 15 mins walk to the new town. Delux rooms are better than web picture, fresh, modren, clean and spacious. we really enjoyed our stay

Review 86:Rooms too small for 3 persons with luggage. Slow wifi.

Review 87:Perfect situated for visiting La Cité. Nice beds. The pool is a nice option on a hot day. Parking just opposit the hotel.

Review 88:One should ask for the room on the ground floor if has a problem with circular stairs. No refrigerator and no safe deposit box in the room.

Review 89:Great location, in the foot-hill of the fortified medieval town, where all the attractions, restaurants, etc are located. Nicely designed in modern style with a small outdoor pool and a few games for children at the lounge.

Review 90:Small room, despite it being described as a large room! The air conditioner was on a wall that was completely covered when you closed the curtains, and as we overlooked the pool and reception area we had to have the curtains closed, and therefore quite warm and muggy. We also had two coffees before leaving, and they charged us 4€ each!!!!

Review 91:Breakfast was great, and staff were very helpful.

Review 92:no problems

Review 93:access to computer (did not bring phone), closeness to historical walled city. We walked from train station and enjoyed catching glimpses as we approached the cite.

Review 94:room not sound proof. could hear people in other rooms talking. heater not working

Review 95:good location free off street parking

Review 96:No fridge, tea / coffee facilities in room

Review 97:Location is great to walk each day up to the walled city wi fi good

Review 98:Rooms very small, prices in restaurant expensive so we ate out.

Review 99:The staff brilliant, location very good, would certainly use again.

Review 100:None

Review 101:Friendly staff spacious rooms nice food

Review 102:Noise from outside traffic

Review 103:The location

Review 104:Spiral staircase to all floors which made it difficult with cases and dogs

Review 105:Friendly staff, great location, private parking, excellent breakfast

Review 106:close to walled city entrance, private parking

Review 107:No complaints

Review 108:Superbly located within walking distance of the. Citadel

Review 109:Brilliant location for visiting the cité. Lots of restaurants nearby

Review 110:Good location - close to medieval city.

Review 111:Air conditioning seemed ineffective during the night

Review 112:weak wifi

Review 113:air conditioning

Review 114:Very small swimming pool

Review 115:Location & Hotel Staff

Review 116:Clean and comfortable room. Great location . Private parking. Free wifi.

Review 117:beds were just ok

Review 118:great service, setting, pool, eating, breakfast area.

Review 119:the location is perfect. it's only 500 meters walk to the castle. the room is clean and comfortable.

Review 120:All Good

Review 121:Our room was really close to reception so a little noisy.

Review 122:Very clean, very comfortable bed and great location.

Review 123:Excellent location close to the old city. Pool is an excellent facility. Good value.

Review 124:The hotel and how close it was to the castle and the new part of town easy to find

Review 125:Internet pretty slow.

Review 126:Hotel in good site for spending time in the old city taking in the atmosphere and taking pictures

Review 127:Very clean and new with lovely modern fit out.

Review 128:the back of the hotel is on a very busy main road at a junction so therefore very noisy

Review 129:the swimming pool was great on hot city days
