Reviews for Le Grand Hotel
Review 1:Room smelled....not sure if the carpets were older, or what. Breakfastwas too simple and little....croissant, 12" baguette, oj, coffee.I like my breakfast, and ended up going to another hotel most morningsto have a bit more (ie. Slice of cheese and ham, fruits, cereals,cappacino,..). Only a winding staircase for access. Most nights, allthe lights were off, and it was very dark and dangerous to navigate thewinding stairs and the hallways. An older, and/or less physicallyfit person would have difficulties getting in and out at night. Noshower, only a bath tub with handheld type device for water. Tvchannels were limited with no english speaking channels accessible (noteven bbc or...?).
Review 2:Location was good. Wifi worked very good. Nice friendly lady thatprobably owns, and runs the place. Only place that wasn't fullybooked for the week I was there.
Review 3:The breakfast let this hotel down, even thow this was advertised as continental one half of a french stick and jam does not equate as continental breakfast. The stairs were very dark may have been the decoration as the wall paper was very dark and the energy saving bulbs also made it dark. There was no lift and this made it difficult for getting suit cases to the second floor
Review 4:Very central the lady was kind and helpful, every were was clean
Review 5:Not much.
Review 6:Excellent welcome. Budget hotel and well located for overnight stay before or after ferry. Simple and perhaps a little tired in decorations etc, but clean, good breakfast, and good value for money.
Review 7:Breakfast was poor for the cost (7 euros). Hotel next door offered buffet for a few 9 euros. The hostess cat wandering on the tables !!!
Review 8:The lady was extremely nice and friendly. Our room was large, with a nice view on the marina.
Review 9:Manageress was very helpful. Room very clean although small but great view of marina. Very good continental breakfast. Hotel near lots of good restaurants. Very good value for money & would stay again.
Review 10:small room, no parking and no space on nearest public parking when we arrived.
Review 11:character, quirky but just like the French country hotels in the past, superb position in town and great harbour view.,
Review 12:everythink, i strongly sugest any traveller wishing to book this hotel to look elsewere as its in a sorry state and needs alot of tlc,i would have prefered to sleep in my car but found a new hotel only 50 yards away. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Review 13:nothing
Review 14:Being locked out with other people who had paid.Had to wait almost one hour before the women arrived at 7.45pm.Old staircase to upper floors poor condition, wall paper badly damaged. Fire escape routes ? Poorly furnished rooms,no doors to warbrodes, small room overlooking harbour best avoided.
Review 15:Not much going for this run down 12 bedroom hotel, would be better called a hostel, access only sparse via front door key pad,ok if you have the code.New clients could not get in even though money paid.only one small pillar for bed,old tv crt,fit for dump.
Review 16:The place although clean was a bit dated and nothing special compared to other places we stayed in.
Review 17:The lady waited till we had arrived of the 8o,clock ferry on bikes even though we were late because we had trouble finding it and although she couldnt speak much English was very helpful and locked our bikes away in the place next door.
Review 18:There was nothing really that we didn't like apart the seagulls in the early hours
Review 19:The location and cleanliness of the hotel and the owner was very friendly
Review 20:Basic but spotlessly clean hotel with a friendly and helpful owner who could speak enough English to be useful. Our small room with harbour view was great for a one night stay.and had excellent en-suite facilities. Adjacent to the best restaurants in Cherbourg.

Review 44:Receptionist most helpful
Review 45:Tutto
Review 46:Da non prendere in considerazione
Review 47:woke up to find wifi disconnected on last morning before we left. (Couldn't retrieve e.mails or travel reports.) Woken up a few times by a noisy guest from another room.
Review 48:large spacious carpeted room, with three tall windows. Fresh linen and towels. Right on the harbour, with plenty of car parking spaces.
Review 49:The view of the courtyard was a little alley separating our building from the restaurant rubbish bins behind us. The WiFi connection to the room was very poor.
Review 50:The room had a refrigerator.
Review 51:Nothing, if you don't require much.
Review 52:The hotel is located near the harbor and you can easily find the hotel. It takes about less than 15 minutes. The owner madam is very kind and helpful. She runs the hotel alone. I want her to run the hotel for a long time, and see her again.
Review 53:No resteraunt. No Bar, No guest lounge. Only a hand held shower over the bath. Very dark inside and along passages. No lift.
Review 54:The Old Lady who ran the hotel
Review 55:Main door locked until check in time. No hot drink making equipment in rooms. No response to emails sent regarding my reservation!
Review 56:Location was very good.
Review 57:No restaurant, no bar. The hotel closes its doors at 8pm. Hand held shower unit over the bath. No air conditioning. The hotel is in a bit of a time warp.
Review 58:Location and the friendliness of the kind old lady who ran the hotel. If you don't mind only the basics then it's not bad for a lay over.
Review 59:It is a very basic Hotel. It is over priced for the basic traveler. The Breakfast is vastly over priced so suggest going out to eat. 7 euros for a glass of orange juice, coffee and a croissant is too much.
Review 60:The bath/shower room was sub-standard and in need of adequate ventilation.
Review 61:Madame was very gracious and welcoming; it's a handy stop-over from the ferry.
Review 62:The room had a harbour view and was very large.
