Reviews for Gite l'Etape
Review 1:This is a cosy apartment in an ancient stone house. It is like a hobbit house, with curves and arches. The apartment is well equipped, including kitchen utensils. The young woman who met us spoke excellent English and made us feel welcome. It is an easy 10-minute walk to the center of town, but there is a grocery store just down the street. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 2:The difficulty of finding it. Fortunately our landlord helped us here.
Review 3:The surroundings, the snugness during bad weather, the feeling of being in a real neighbourhood
Review 4:The wifi signal was inconsistent and often very weak.
Review 5:This was a very nice gite with everything needed for comfort and function. It was tastefully decorated and we could see that great care was taken in choosing everything that made it special, from the linens, to the dishes, glassware and furnishings. The host arranged for an English speaking friend to greet us and show us around the gite and answer all our questions and provided contact information in case there was a further need. There was free and safe public parking very nearby and easy access to the tourist sites and river activities by car. Many brochures and general information about tourist activities was available in the gite.
Review 6:We were unable to use the microwave/combi oven or the coffee machine as the instruction were only in French, but it made little difference as we ate out. The wi-fi was generally ok but we had no signal for over 12 hours on one day.
Review 7:We loved this unusual gite and would highly recommend it. It is beautifully decorated, comfortable and well equipped. Ideal for 2 people. If our language skills had been better we would give this gite 10 but our lack of French caused a few very minor problems. Having found the gite very easily using a map (not sat nav !), we had to wait over half an hour in mid afternoon, temperature in upper 30'sC,until the owner(?) woke up before we could gain entry! He only spoke French but within a short time a lady who spoke excellent English arrived and all was explained. You do need a small car as the local streets are very narrow and parking is 200 m away There is a supermarket 5 minutes walk away and it is an easy half mile walk into Vallon, but a long way from the river. We would highly recommend a visit to the new Caverne de Pont d'Arc which is truly amazing.
Review 8:What's not to like? The only recommendation I would make to visitors is to hire a small car - the local lanes are very narrow and you need to approch some junctions with extreme care
Review 9:Original features of the building and attention to detail of the furnishings made this a unique experience. Never having slept in a former wine cave before I can thoroughly recommend it. A delightful location and our hosts were so helpful and friendly. As a base for exploring the Ardeche it was superb.
Review 10:The Host was extremely helpfull and nice, far beyond our experiences in all other places!
Review 11:Gps coordinates were totally wrong. Wasted an hour trying to find theplace.Address did not register on gps. Large scorpion on wall(live)which scared my wife.Would not recommend this property
Review 12:It was an absolutely charming place near pont d'arc, perfect for a couple looking to get away from the city. The owners were very accomodating and made our stay an immensely enjoyable one despite our very limited knowledge of French. Would definitely recommend it.
