Reviews for Hôtel Marotte
Review 1:Nothing important.
Review 2:The service was excellent. Beautiful suite with fantastic stone bath and infrared sauna. The old building is also very nicely restored.
Review 3:Beautiful building which has been lovingly restored. Lovely room even though it was a comfort room. Just right for us. Walking distance of everything we could want. Really helpful owners.
Review 4:The hotel is tucked in the heart of Amiens on a quiet street in immediate proximity to lots of shopping and good food choices. The staff were perfect, and breakfast superior quality. High-quality rooms, and beautiful facilities. Will definitely stay again if in Amiens.
Review 5:it's expensive and not obvious to find from the road. Parking is an additional cost.
Review 6:The staff were really helpful and couldn't do enough for us. I was there to race an important race and the service at the hotel helped make the experience run smoothly and much more enjoyable.
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:Great staff ,Everyone is trying to help and do the best in order to make your stay better. I have to remind Estelle ,she is the manager and is great, helped us with directions on arrival and with so many other little but important issues.
Review 9:A bit overpriced for the season. Room was not very warm, despite heating on. One of the electric stores did not work
Review 10:Ideal location, good quality bedding, nice big bathroom
Review 11:Breakfast on a Sunday does not start till 0830 so had to forgo it in order to make Eurotunnel timings.
Review 12:Very central and lovely, helpful staff. On site parking is very limited, a maximum of two cars, so early reservation for a place recommended.
Review 13:The room was smaller than expected and there were several chips out of the plaster on the bedroom wall - disappointing for 5* accommodation. The continental breakfast was over-priced.
Review 14:Central location and overall quality of the accommodation - a tasteful blend of traditional and contemporary styles. Excellent service.
Review 15:After a bit of initial difficulty locating the hotel by car we found its central location very useful, with a car park nearby. The room described as "cosy" was more than that, with plenty of space and good facilities. The continental breakfast was excellent and the staff at all times friendly and helpful.
Review 16:Breakfast was expensive for the limited continental breakfast which was not even a buffet - additional items eg cereal means you go to the next level of breakfast and price. Very limited car parking ( 2 cars) within Hotel boundary. Option is to use public parking.
Review 17:Good central position and a very comfortable room.
Review 18:Lovely place to stay. Very spacious, very clean rooms, decorated beautifully. Lovely queen size bed that was very comfortable, so quickly decided to stay another night. Location great - very close to centre and all staff extremely helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Review 19:The hotel is not easy to find and there is little parking space offered by the hotel. Therefore the only option is an expensive, not so near by, (pulling luggage)Public Car Park.
Review 20:Excellent central position 5 minutes walk from the magnificent Cathedral-the main reason why anyone would want to visit Amiens
Review 21:Estelle, the owner manager was great. She helped us with everything. To sum it up in two words... She cares. It doesn't get better than that. As an American, I really liked the fan in the room. You don't see that often in Europe. We come from a very dry climate in the US and it is very humid, rains all the time and there is no AC in most places. The fan was a lifesaver. Such a simple and wonderful upgrade. The hotel was great, cannot find a single complaint
Review 22:Price of breakfast and the cost of secure parking but needed close parking being disabled.
Review 23:The hotel was amazing and superbly located. The Manageress was exceedingly helpful and very informative and very very pleasant.
Review 24:This hotel is located in the core of old yown near the famous Amien Cathedral and many pedestrian shopping streets. It is walking distance from the canal Somme River. They help you to park your car (phone ahead)
Review 25:Wifi was patchy. Needs a reboot.
Review 26:Incredible staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Also great value for money. No other hotel in Amiens can touch this for quality.
Review 27:Great people and very friendly. Helpful and Estelle arranged a private tour for us which was fantastic. Loved this hotel and Amiens is a beautiful, relaxing city.
Review 28:Bit hard to find (driving) but they were so helpful and sorted us admirably
Review 29:We felt like privileged family guests in a pre revolution chateau! It was magical.
Review 30:We were lucky to get one of the few dedicated parking spaces. If we hadn't then parking would have been an issue.
Review 31:Excellent town centre location near to restaurants. Excellent advice on what to see and where to eat.
Review 32:Breakfast is a bit expensive and you have to order by 9.00 the night before.
Review 33:Very comfortable and spacious room (we took the suite which has a double bed and twin bed). Stunning bathroom.
Review 34:Absolutely stunning hotel! Estelle was so helpful and lovely - it made it even nicer! The rooms are the most beautiful I've stayed in and every request was provided for - thank you!
Review 35:Great location and very comfortable big room Bed was excellent We stayed in a comfort room Wifi was a little slow and there was some vibration from road traffic but didn't affect sleeping ! Amien is well worth a visit
Review 36:Very elegant hotel - great central location for seeing Amiens, a town we had passed by on the way to the South but which is well worth the visit. The cathedral is one of the most magnificent in France. The old quarter by the river is charming.
Review 37:Small private parking (attention point), no self service at breakfast but pre-order
Review 38:Large room with excellent bath room, helpfull staff and good breakfast
Review 39:Overpriced and lack of charm.
Review 40:The location and hospitality were top notch. The "apartment" appears to be an new remodel with no charm at all. Big bathroom but small shower, no bath products!!! Love the town and waterfront.
Review 41:We stayed in a heat wave (unusual for Amiens) and the rooms in the old part of the hotel face south, and have no shutters or air conditioning, making them hot. Also, the hotel has no door bell - when we arrived mid-afternoon it took 10 minutes of knocking to rouse someone. Parking on busy weekday afternoons is not for the faint-hearted - bring a smaller car!
Review 42:The quality of the bathroom - bath and shower cabinet - and king size bed were first rate. Loved the little touches like the Darjeeling tea bags by the kettle. The owner and her assistant were so friendly and full of good advice, booking restaurants for us, recommending visits, that it really helped our stay. Giving us an excellent electric fan to help with the heat, and making sure it was left on after cleaning the room each morning, was symptomatic of their attention to detail. It's how you get over unusual problems that counts.
Review 43:Air Conditioning not up to scratch. Arriving back to the hotel 11.30 ish hotel appeared empty, no staff are on duty late evening but someone is available on a telephone number.Maybe expected a bit more for a 5 star rated hotel.I have stayed in better less rated hotels.charge of 16 euros for parking a motorcycle a little steep as the same price for a car
Review 44:Location of hotel and charm excellent.
Review 45:Not being able to stay there more than 1 night as we were doing the war graves tour and had prearranged plans.
Review 46:The room was magnificent. The bathroom large and relaxing. The staff friendly and helpful.
Review 47:Off street car parking could be a problem if you do not request a place when booking
Review 48:Superb hotel with very friendly staff who cannot do enough for you. Breakfast very good. Restricted off road parking but I was lucky that I had pre warned that my classic car needed secure car parking and a place was reserved
Review 49:We had one of the attic rooms which was beautiful. Loved the walk in shower and huge bath. Service was excellent, especially the personal touch at breakfast.
Review 50:Find it hard to understand why it is rated 5star. The breakfast was a joke....no buffet and a great deal of portion control!! Very expensive !!
Review 51:Location good and room clean and comfortable.
Review 52:The room was stylish, with modern facilities. Clean and handy to a lovely short walk from the station. Amiens would have to be one of the most beautiful provincial towns in France, about 1 hour north of Paris by train. Wish we had discovered it in our early 30's, but early 60's was still great.
Review 53:Nothing, but parking can be an issue as spaces are limited. However there are many good, secure underground car parks nearby.
Review 54:Everything. The attention to detail and high quality of this hotel is amazing.
Review 55:Quite difficult to find. You actually turn left on to the pedestrian walkway and not down Emile Zola, which is where our Sat Nav kept sending us. However, when we called the Hotel explaining that we were lost - Madam talked us in and was well worth it.
Review 56:Impeccable taste and very luxurious room. Madam most helpful and charming. Great location for the City.
Review 57:it is a little bit expensive, the least thing they can do is to put a breakfast not that much expensive, its just a robbery....
Review 58:everything is perfect in marotte hotel, you'll love it
Review 59:We had a fabulous room, large and comfortable. The ensuite was elegant and stylish, this was true of the public rooms. Madame was also elegant, stylish and helpful. Our brief stay was a delight we intend to return some day soon.
Review 60:The fire door plinths were difficult to get the wheelchair over. The corridor was obstructed by a cabinet making it tricky to get through in the wheelchair. The energy saving light system in the corridors were a great idea but tricky to use in a wheelchair.
Review 61:The parking was convenient, the staff were really helpful. The room was beautiful and well equipped. The wheelchair lift was excellent. Breakfast was amazing.
Review 62:I am shocked to find this hotel to be rated with 5 stars, the facilities are non existent. The so called bar was as welcoming as a cold shower, and as this room pleasantly furnished was the only public room in the hotel, left me wondering who on earth awarded the stars !!!!
Review 63:The room was large and comfortable, but no more luxurious than a good 2 star hotel.
Review 64:We stayed in a cosy double, wow, the room was enormous! Beautiful bathroom and all in all very impressed with the room. Central location. Would highly recommend.
Review 65:Despite heating off,the room got quite warm at night. But had to keep the bathroom door shut, as the street light shone right into the room. Also some footfall noise from the room above.
Review 66:Josephine the lovely helpful receptionist, the decor, the comfortable bed. lovely bathroom, great shower. Perfect location.Nice teas in room.
Review 67:Parking, lift didn't go to top floor but these were minor and outweighed by the pluses.
Review 68:Building, decor, room, location, personal service, breakfast.
Review 69:No air-conditioning and a noisy street (so you won't want to open the windows at night).
Review 70:Beautifully decorated room and fabulous bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff
Review 71:The style and comfort of the place. The manager spoke excellent English and was most attentive to our needs. She spent a lot of time talking to her guests. The room was billed as "cosy", and that is exactly what it was. We found it totally quiet and relaxing. Our car was garaged at the hotel and was handled efficiently at all times.
Review 72:Top floor shook a bit during day when buses came by ( maybe 3 or 4 times a day). Never at night
Review 73:Old architecture beautifully updated. Run by owners who were welcoming and helpful. Best bed ever!
Review 74:Unfortunately the toilet stopped flushing which was no fun and had to be flushed by pouring bins of water down the loo - ew - told the lady on reception as we left but received no apologies altho this may be a language thing
Review 75:Lovely lady on reception Fantastic central location practically on doorstep of the wonderful cathedral Enormous room with the best bathroom ever Really chuffed with the overall stay
Review 76:only stayed one night- wished it could have been longer!
Review 77:Great place to stay, near cathedral and town centre. Beautiful hotel and friendly staff- nothing too much trouble. Wonderful food- room comfortable and luxurious.
Review 78:Warmest of welcomes. Hospitality. Excellent accomodation. Cleanliness. Style. Lovely building. Great location in centre. Wonderful breakfast room. Beautifully presented breakfast.
Review 79:Expensive breakfast and yuou had to choose what you wanted the night before rather than a buffet selection.
Review 80:Great location in the middle of Amiens. Lovely bedroom and bathroom - very stylish
Review 81:Comfy bed and fabulous deep bath and rainfall shower. The champagne bar is gorgeous. We were made very welcome and after a busy day we felt very relaxed. We will return.
Review 82:No air conditioning, but street very noisy so you couldn't open a window. Products like conditioner, shower cap etc weren't supplied, just combined shampoo/body wash, not of standard in price bracket.
Review 83:Nice new spacious rooms, close to town centre.
Review 84:Breakfast was 22 euro extra each. Much prefer if this was included inthe room cost.
Review 85:Excellently located. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Well manneredpolite and lovely staff. The room was of a high standard rain shower anda modern bath. If you need parking pre book as hotel only has a fewspaces. It's just in the centre of the town by the cathedral andshopping. Defiantly would go back. Its great place to break up a longjourney back to the uk.
Review 86:Had a lovely stay at the Hotel Marotte! The staff was very helpful to point out sites to see in the city as well as recommend restaurants. The breakfast served in the dining room was abundant and delicious. The rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were particularly luxurious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Amiens.
Review 87:Reception and the bar were mostly closed. No food available other than breakfast. The second morning's breakfast was overlooking the carpark and it was a bit cool. the breakfast room was laid out for a conference. The dressing gowns were hidden in the top cupboards with no handles. This supposedly 5star hotel was bottom of the list of the 8 we stayed in during our holiday.
Review 88:The room decor and quality were outstanding.
Review 89:Lack of dedicated parking - but then it is a city centre location, so understandable
Review 90:Super-friendly and helpful staff, really comfortable bed, good location in central Amiens, luxurious feel to the room
Review 91:There was not anything we disliked.
Review 92:We liked everything about this charming Hotel and the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Hopefully go again sometime soon. It was very comfortable and lovely and clean.
Review 93:No air conditioning so you have to open the windows. Above a main road. Possibly the worst nights sleep we have had in a hotel. No toiletries no bathrobes as promised. Very little coffee two tea bags!! Two portions of milk!! Breakfast very overpriced. This is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Just a shame it is let down by the little things which totally spoilt our stay and without doubt we would not stay here again.
Review 94:Location is brilliant
Review 95:No negative aspects - all very positive.
Review 96:When Christine went to the hotel and enquired about parking, the Concierge came out the front onto the road to meet us and guided us in to a parking space. He then took us up to our rooms and made sure we were settled in. Excellent and caring service - well done.
Review 97:Estelle and her husband were charming and helpful. Estelle's knowledge of English was a added bonus ! Large comfortable bedroom and great bathroom! Would highly recommend staying in this boutique accommodation than the large impersonal Hotels in Amiens !
Review 98:The poor care shown by staff member who parked our car and managed toseverely damage three of the four alloy wheels.by not taking care, whenparking .We paid extra for secure parking. Pity we did not notice beforeleft. We are Mr &mrs. Thurlow Craig we stayed in room 4
Review 99:Nice location
Review 100:nothing
Review 101:Estelle and her husband were fantastic, the hotel is lovely, our room was a good size with a very comfortable bed,the décor in the hotel is very nice,i would recommend this hotel
Review 102:Nothing -or if we were being really picky maybe the offer of fresh milk for tea and coffee - but no big deal as we were out a lot.
Review 103:Wonderful little boutique hotel in a quietbut central area. The owner/manager "Estelle" was charming. Very helpful andfriendly. The room and en-suite bathroom was elegant and tastfully decorated and furnished to high standards. Very comfortable beds, pillows and high quality sheets etc. the extra little touches were also great - wonderful smellng shower liquid, soaps etc and tea/coffee tray with decent products (even the tea bags were "artisan" and looked hand-made - in a good way of course!) All in all we would definitely come back here. We have stayed in many up market 5 star boutique and chain hotels, and this place rates very highly.
Review 104:Wonderful hospitality , great location and lovely hotel. Close to the Christmas markets, shops and the cathedral. An easy walk from the station.
Review 105:My room was for diabled people and a bit old fashioned.
Review 106:Very freindly and helpfull staff. The location and hotel was very nice.
Review 107:Poor internet
Review 108:Not very busy so the bar was closed although I am sure reception would have got us a drink if we asked
Review 109:Large room and lovely bathroom
Review 110:bad attitude of personnel. very difficult to get any help . during the night hours ( afer 10 pm) there is nobody of personnel in hotel.
