Reviews for Moulin de Vigonac

Review 1:Absolutely everything, stunning setting, very comfortable and spacious rooms, amazing food by a chef that obviously loves cooking and very friendly hosts.

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:Moulin De Vigonac is truly a lovely place to stay. Oliver the owner with his mother were extremely helpful & the accommodation was truly stunning. We had a meal in the restaurant on our last evening which deserved a Michelin star, compliments to the chef

Review 4:An exceptional property, the Moulin de Vigonac is one of those extraordinary places that transforms a vacation into an unforgettable experience. Everything about it - the magnificently restored property, the luxurious, immaculate room and bathroom, the gracious, friendly hosts and the fabulous food - meets the highest standard of excellence. We spent 5 dream-like days here that can only be described as "Perfect!" Mr. and Mdme Axeldine and their son Olivier are exceptionally accommodating and kind, and clearly take pride in everything they do. The property is fascinating, comfortable and serene, the superb meals are graciously served in a warm and welcoming indoor dining room or on the outdoor patio overlooking the picturesque gardens and stream. Breakfast is a multi-course meal that is custom cooked to order and includes a scrumptious fresh fruit cup and hot crepe that is to be savored and enjoyed! The Moulin de Vigonac makes a perfect base for a visit to beautiful Brantome...and beyond. We are already looking forward to a return visit.

Review 5:Nothing NOT to like!

Review 6:Friendly welcome - clean room with plenty of space - comfortable bed. Evening meals were superb with adequate choice but the quality was better than many 5* hotels.

Review 7:Delightful family who own and run this quiet, beautifully restored river side Mill. Father is chef, mother is front of house and son runs it; all are charming and mother and son speak good English and all are very welcoming. Excellent breakfasts, delicious dinners and clean comfortable and large airy rooms. Good pool. I wouldn't just stay here if I was in the area again, I'd drive across France to stay here! Walking distance of the fascinating and old island town of Brantome.

Review 8:We didn't stay long enough!

Review 9:This hotel is perfect in every way. The room was exceptional, with high quality, tasteful furnishings. The restaurant, too, cannot be faulted for the quality of the food and service. We plan to return, for a longer stay, next time.

Review 10:Welcomed and made to feel as if only guests ever seen but genuine friendliness and professionalism. Fabulous restaurant, quality and priced well. Comfortable stay.

Review 11:We were warmly welcomed and shown to our Suite which was spacious and beautifully appointed. The location of the Mill was lovely although we didn't have the best weather.

Review 12:a kettle for tea and coffe in the room would be perfect

Review 13:Fantastic welcome all staff especially Madame were superb she provided advice on the best places to visit. The standard of food and service in the restraunt were exceptional we ate there every night would highly recommend this hotel

Review 14:Na

Review 15:Wonderful welcome from the family. A comfortable and charming g bedroom. The dinner I the evening on a terrace overlooking the gardens wasdelicious. Breakfast was excellent and begs with a freshly are pancake.Nothing was too much trouble and we were fake. To one of the townrestaurants and collected she the hotel was closed for dinner oneevening. Finally on departure the family saw us off and presented uswith a present of a ch a Bon b on dish. Can't wait to go again.

Review 16:Lovely place to stay, well worthy of it's four stars. Breakfasts were on the expensive side but worth it, as was the evening meal. Three courses with added extras between courses in beautiful surroundings with good service. Very pleasant hosts who recommended places to eat which were also very good. The Hotel Charbonnel in Brantome served gourmet food similar to the Moulin overlooking the river and Cote Rivière which serves simpler traditional dishes. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Review 17:Nothing, but would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 18:Very elegant, beautiful hotel with lovely gardens. Owners and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding. Brantome is a very pretty town and loved the river trip recommended by the hotel.

Review 19:not booking for longer had we known would have booked for a week.

Review 20:The friendliness of the owners who appeared the minute we drove in were just a lovely family, the food in their restaurant was excellent we didn't want dessert so we're given a plate of goodies to take back to our room. The room we had with terrace overlooking the river was magical. A short walk into Brantome one of the prettiest towns we've been to totally surrounded by water with beautiful old bridges everywhere, an absolute delight. Everything about the place FANTASTIC.

Review 21:Everything was perfect.

Review 22:If you are looking for a perfect place to stay in Brantomme, this is it! Everything here is wonderful...the rooms, the grounds, the pool, the food, and most of all the hosts. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Review 23:You have a sense of being cared for, if not pampered. The grounds are lovely, the decor pure French country charm. You could not ask more for a pleasant , even romantic, holiday.

Review 24:Nothing in this category

Review 25:The owner and his wife and son are an example of how every business should be run. Most friendly, professional, outstanding service and dinners are strictly the norm.

Review 26:The personal touch and attention to detail. My daughter and I stayed there we were even given a gift as a souvenir, never had that before. We were made to feel like royalty from the minute that we arrived and stepped out of our car

Review 27:If there is a negative here, it is the location. The Brantome area of Perigord/Dordogne is not as interesting as the area around Sarlat and Rocamadour. To get from Moulin de Vigogac to the Sarlat area, you have to pass through Perigeux. This takes a lot of time, and Perigeux is neither pretty nor interesting.

Review 28:This was a really beautiful place installed at the site of an old mill. The family that runs it are friendly and attentive. The breakfast is good and the restaurant is first rate for dinners.

Review 29:Felt so at home and in comfort, nothing was too much trouble, genuine warmth and care. I cried when I left - I felt like I was leaving family. We will be back for sure. Thank you so much for such a beautiful time.

Review 30:Nothing!

Review 34:There was nothing to fault

Review 35:The owners were very helpful and friendly and we had an excellent meal. There was an attention to detail that ensured we had a very pleasant stay.

Review 36:The moulin is a good 15-20 minute walk (or a couple of minutes by car) from the centre of Brantome which wasn't a problem for us at all as we prefer to stay outside of town centres, but might affect someone else.

Review 37:Recently renovated to a high and tasteful standard, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly - they even gave us a little gift at the end of our stay!

Review 38:Couldn't stay long enough as had to move on

Review 39:What a special find this hotel is! From our warm welcome by Madame to our delicious dinner cooked by Monsieur via our comfy spacious room. This place is lovely. And just a stone's throw from the pretty village of Brantome

Review 40:Booked a comfort room located in the mill over restaurant. It was big, quaint and very clean.the family that that takes care of your every need are fantastic. As good as all this sounds, the food is even better.

Review 41:First class family owned hotel, built into an atmospheric former water mill, excellent service, excellent restaurant, the whole in an absolutely picturesque, garden-like setting.

Review 43:Very friendly and efficient staff Personal interest from Oliver and his mother Excellent cuisine with good waiter service Lovely atmosphere Real quality!

Review 44:nothing I can think off

Review 45:Guest welcomed on a personal basis and treated with a lot of attention. Comfortable rooms, quiet in classic surroundings, excellent table. A place to visit again.

Review 46:The location. The staff. The room. The food. We were met and welcomed as our car pulled up by Oliver and his Mother. We checked in and then were shown around the substantial and beautiful grounds and given a history of the Moulin. We ate in the restaurant where Dad is the Chef. The quality of the produce was reflected in the sublime cooking and the depth of flavour to our meals. Superb

Review 47:This is a family run hotel and restaurant and you can tell - everyone was so welcoming and friendly and helpful - we wished we could have stayed here for longer it was such a lovely experience! We also had dinner and breakfast here and the food was absolutley amazing!

Review 48:A bit far to walk into Brantome centre,

Review 49:Loved room, very comfortable, beautifully furnished. Breakfast fabulous! Staff wonderful! Very accomodating even provided us transport one evening for us. Will definitely return.

Review 50:Everything was wonderful! A delightful haven in which to unwind and to relax.

Review 51:We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Moulin de Vigonac! The Alexeline family were exceptional hosts and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The restaurant is superb and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals there. The rooms are very comfortable with every thought given to making guests feel welcome and relaxed. We had an excellent stay here au Moulin de Vigonac and we are already looking forward to a return visit.

Review 52:The Moulin de Vigonac was perfect in every way. Olivier and his family could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious! The location is gorgeous and we liked staying out of the town as it was incredibly quiet. The walk into town was lovely and about 15 minutes. We would highly recommend a stay at Moulin de Vigonac.

Review 53:Be aware there is a 15-minute walk into Brantome from the hotel.

Review 54:Exceptionally good restaurant and food. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful grounds and setting. Plenty of parking. Brantome is a lovely of town with lots to do.

Review 55:We have just had a delightful five days at this most charming hotel. It is quiet and peaceful, beautifully situated on the outskirts of Brantome. The owners and staff are welcoming, friendly and very helpful and the whole place exudes comfort. The breakfasts are outstanding and the dinners delicious. We highly recommend the Moulin de Vigonac.

Review 56:Nothing, although it was a shame that we were there only for the one night (a Thursday) when the restaurant was closed. We'll just have to return to sample Chef's cooking!

Review 57:The setting is lovely. The reception we received from the family was first rate; they could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Because the restaurant was not open for dinner, they booked us a table at a restaurant in Brantome and provided transport there and back at no cost. Upon our return we were treated to 'un digestif', which did not figure in the bill! The breakfast was a most wonderful experience 10/10 for us

Review 58:there was nothing not to like!

Review 59:me and my wife stayed here for 1 night it was the perfect getaway, from the minute we arrived at the hotel the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Our room was beautiful with a fantastic private terrace with stunning views. We spent the day around the pool relaxing and intended going out to eat on the evening, after seeing the menu we decided to eat at the hotel and were so glad we did as it was amazing food and service,as was breakfast. We will definitely be staying here again!

Review 60:Provide specific directions to the property on website or confirmation note will surely help since our GPS could not locate the address

Review 61:Beautiful property with excellent in-house chef/owner

Review 62:Excellent attention to detail in the room, very spacious and with one of the best bathrooms ever experienced. Dinner was superb and breakfast a real treat (love the little surprises!). Great family hospitality - loved it.

Review 63:Nothing not to like.

Review 64:Hard to know where to start there are so many excellent things about this hotel, I suppose the very best thing is the staff and owners who welcome you so kindly, whole heartedly and in such a genuine way. I have stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world but this one will stand out as one of the most memorable even though we only stayed for one night. The setting is idyllic and the atmosphere so relaxing. The room was so stylish, comfortable and spacious, we had our own little patio with sofa and chairs by the pool, inside an enormous bed with the softest silkiest bedding I have ever experienced, also a separate little lounge with television as well as TV in the bedroom too. Beautiful gardens with flowers all round. Meals on the terrace looking over the garden and the little river, perfect breakfast. We had a lovely lovely time and left feeling totally spoilt.

Review 65:Nothing. Faultless.

Review 66:We went there for our final night of a touring holiday around Spain and France. It was fantastic...could not be more pleased. Beautiful setting and a great dinner with fine Bergerac wine. But what made it so enjoyable was the attentiveness of the staff from arrival to departure.

Review 67:There was little to dislike. The food in the evening was a little hit and miss with main courses being far too large.....huge amounts of meat. But the breakfasts were fantastic. Fresh crepes, great fruit salad and great coffee.

Review 68:A little bit outside Brantôme it is so peaceful and an easy walk in to the town so no problems with parking. The best bit is the total genuine welcome you get from the family who run it. Really lovely one and all.

Review 69:Beautiful location with fabulous attention to detail. Room stunning, food first class with exceptional friendly welcoming hospitality. Not to be missed a true piece of French paradise.

Review 104:One of the best places we have stayed in the last 30 years of traveling. People are professional yet warm, friendly and truely helpful. Very quiet, great food.

Review 105:Nothing.

Review 106:This was our third stay at this beautiful, tranquil property. It is an easy 20 minute walk to the centre of Brantome but feels like it is deep in the countryside. The restaurant is excellent but shuts Thursday night.

Review 107:Expensive but worth paying for.

Review 108:Lovely family-run hotel. Small number of rooms ensured the personaltouch & attention to detail. Good recommendation of where to eatwhen the restaurant was closed, but the food at Moulin de Vigonacwas superb!
