Reviews for Auberge le Montagny
Review 1:A great experience in a wonderful setting, with very friendly local people and very easy access to the highest mountain range in Europe! Une belle expérience dans un cadre magnifique, avec des gens très sympathiques et accès très facile à la gamme de montagne la plus haute d'Europe!
Review 2:Excellent value for this very clean and beautifully-presented, small hotel/ auberge set in the stunning rural location of Les Houches. We stayed in room 207, mid-July 2015. The hotel has 8 rooms, all with balconies big enough for 2 people to sit around a small table for a snack or a rest, while admiring the breathtaking views over the mountain range of the Montblanc and Aiguille du Midi. The bathroom, with separate WC, was very clean with a powerful shower over the bath. Breakfast was very tasty and plentiful, with cereals, croissants, homemade jams, local cheese and cold meat, and delicious French coffee - enough to set you up before long mountain walks and numerous visits. The auberge's carpark is spacey, just past the hotel on the right. The owner and service staff are very friendly and professional. The owner, Marisette, provided us with much good and useful advice and tips, and this helped us to maximise our 3-day visit, with visits and use of the local cable-cars. The hotel is only a 10-minute drive from Chamonix where you take the cable-car for the Aiguille du Midi (the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world, from 1,035 m to 3842 m!) where you have a 360° view of all the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. And from there onto the brand new 4-people cable-cars for a 5-kilometer ride over the Montblanc glacier to Helbronner / Coumayeur – a breathtaking, life-time experience for an extra 27 euros return ticket. We got a Montblanc two-day multi-pass (approx. 75 euros) that we used extentively for two return cable-car trips up to the Aiguile du Midi (1st day was a little cloudly); the famous little red train to Montenvers to visit the Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice), the spectacular ice cave, and the interactive and very educational Glaciorium (museum dedicated to glaciology) – all at altitude 1900 meters; and a trip to the Nid d'Aigle at altitude 2400 meters, via the Montblanc tramway from Le Fayet, to admire the glacier of Bionnassay.
Review 3:Didnt like the walk from the mainroad, but you get used to it.
Review 4:Its a nice and quiet place. With large and clean rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:We had a lovely stay at Auberge le Montagny. We were running late and called to advise we were still coming they were waiting for us and told us not to hurry. Owner checked us in and was very pleasant. Our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was good and for the price. The view from the window over looked the mountain a beautiful place to stay and would definitely stay there again.
Review 7:peaceful, beautiful breakfast. Slept well
Review 8:It had a very nice balcony.
Review 9:nothing to dislike!

Review 18:having to pay for wifi

Review 22:We stayed 2 nights in a large, confortable room that had breathtakingviews of the mountains from all bedroom windows and the bathroom. Theauberge was extremely clean and well cared for. The decorations gave ita homelike coziness. Parking was easy. There is a SuperU grocery storeand gas station 1 km (3 min drive/10 min walk) away. Free passes fortransportation on local buses and trains, discount on museum entry, etc.were included with our room. Bus schedules and other tourist info keptin binder at front desk. Bus stop is at bottom of hill from auberge. Wethoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to reserve thislocation again.
Review 23:Description of location was wrong. It was about 5 miles outside Chamonix and cost €40 euros in a taxi home at night which we felt was a bit high. We had to take a taxi home as one of the party has a heart problem so couldn't walk up the steep hill from the bus stop to the hotel. If you have no medical condition the bus does the job and the hotel provide cards to get free on the bus
Review 24:Traditional house bed and breakfast. Very friendly welcome and let us in early. Breakfast was very good particularly the home made jams!
Review 25:stunning views, peaceful, very clean, lovely host, couldn't do enough for us , free bus pass, bus stop at the bottom of the road, would love to stay again and I recommend highly.
Review 26:In september, it was cold without heating, but when we asked the landlady turned it on. We had a room with orientation towards the street that was a bit noisy. My husband did not like mattress, said it was too soft. To eat at the evening, its best to go to Chamonix, there are no good restaurants around.
Review 27:Location (5 min drive to Chamonix), excellent breakfast (from 8:00-10:00), good communication (in French), room cleaned every day, family atmosphere, nice large room and bed.
Review 28:Charming hotel, friendly staff, spacious and clean "chalet style" accommodation, quiet location. Good supermarket (Super U) just around the corner. I will probably try to stay here next time I visit the Vallee Blanche. Strongly recommended.
Review 29:Had to wait of owner to arrive and let us in (along with other waiting guests) at 18.00. About 3 km off our GR5 trail.
Review 30:Room was clean and comfortable. Tea made for us on arrival. Close to grill restaurant. We did not take breakfast as we wanted to leave early.
Review 31:The location is not that great. You have to take a bus to Chamonix or the Les Houches for dinner, and the last bus back is at around 19:30. If you're planning to start the TMB maybe it'd be better to stay in Les Houches- it would save you the morning bus.
Review 32:I highly recommend this beautiful auberge. We stayed for a night before starting the TMB. It was a lovely room, and the breakfast was good. They were kind to keep our suitcase for a week while we went trekking. Oh, and a great bath!
Review 33:Auberge le Montagny is in a quiet tranquil location at base of Mont Blanc, yet is very close to all the action in Chamonix. The rooms have a rustic decor, beds are comfortable and everything is very clean. One of our rooms looked right out to the mountain and the other room had its own private garden. The breakfast was ample and delicious. Marysette was very friendly and helpful.
Review 34:The only criticism is not of the accomodation itself, but of the buses into Les Houches. The morning buses were usually full and so had to walk 20 minutes to Les Houches(nearest lift).
Review 35:Very friendly staff. Clean, spacious, warm rooms with the most amazing views of Mont Blanc Mountains. Would definately recommend!! I have already!
Review 36:Great location with the most amazing and breathtaking view over the Mont Blanc! Great host and charming, homey room.
