Reviews for Hotel Le Prieure
Review 1:My room had only the bathtub, without shower. Something could be renewed and sometimes the furniture is ruined. Breakfast is not really good it could be better
Review 2:Very good staff, With one particular mention to Emma. Very nice position, just near the cathedral Very nice accommodation, something characteristics
Review 3:The sheer curtains do not blame go out the outside security lights. This kept us awake most of the night.
Review 4:Helpful, friendly staff. Clean room with modern bathroom.
Review 5:Staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly! Between us as a group we stayed in 3 rooms which were each unique, funky and comfortable! We loved it all :)
Review 6:Breakfast buffet was slightly more expensive than ideal but was still decent food.
Review 7:Staff were very friendly and helpful (especially Thibaud), excellent location, clean room, was a very comfortable stay.
Review 8:The reception staff member that dealt with us was delightful; couldn't have been more helpful. We arrived at 1pm to leave our bags and park the car, but our room was ready so we were allowed in two hours early. The room was stylish and spotlessly clean. Unusually for France, there was a coffee making machine provided. The hotel was one minute away from the cathedral and five minutes from the Christmas market. It was great value for money.
Review 9:Lack of shower,parking,pillows,milk
Review 10:Emma was lovely and the rooms were clean and presentable. Location ok if you don't have a car!!! If you do it's a tricky one.
Review 11:Didn't like having to use a hand held shower in winter. The only other option was to take a bath, which I don't like.
Review 12:Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and at 9.50 Euros is good value. Room and bathroom were newly redecorated and very nice. I also had a view of the cathedral. Wifi was very good as well.
Review 13:Convenient location and quiet. Enthusiastic, helpful staff, taking pride in their work. Great breakfast, comfortable mattresses, good bathrooms. Amusing decor touches. Stayed 4 nights, end of Sept.'15
Review 14:The hotel was in an excellent location and we had a wonderful view of the cathedral from our window. The staff were very helpful and carried our bags up to our room as there was no lift.
Review 15:Wonderful staff. Emma at the front desk was knowledgeable, cheerful. Quiet quiet hotel yet close to everything. Room was just remodeled. Bathroom lovely. We will stay here again!
Review 16:We did not include breakfast as the cost seemed excessive for what was provided
Review 17:Great location next to the Cathedral, right in the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful - and knowledgeable. A good hotel.
Review 18:A bit difficult to get to by car. Many one-way streets and no traffic zones.
Review 19:Very friendly and helpful staff. Great position. Comfortable room with one of the better beds (size)
Review 20:One of our two rooms ('with a courtyard view') was rather cramped
Review 21:Location near the cathedral Charming receptionist Excellent breakfast in innovatively styled breakfast room Son et lumiere at the cathedral
Review 22:The staff at this hotel are brilliant. Very friendly, helpful and suggest places to visit and dine. Parking is nearby. The hotel has great character. Highly recommend.
Review 23:Having to sit in the bath to shower. I didn't get a map about directions and parking, almost impossible without it as lots of one way systems, and local streets are pedestrian only. The 'view of the cathedral' is mainly of one side and over a roof top. But very close nevertheless.
Review 24:Perfect location. Very friendly receptionist who knew everything about the area.
Review 25:No air conditioning meant we had to have the window open and because of the location there were noisy people passing until 4a.m both nights we were there so we got very little sleep, nor did the other guests with cathedral views. Ask for a bedroom at the back if you want a good nights sleep.
Review 26:Great location, quirky building with very comfortable room, staff went out of their way to be helpful
Review 27:Since the room we booked has little space for a baby cot, the baby cot they offered is very small, my son is 15 months, 82cm, if your child is older or higher than him, just forget the baby cot... And there's no lift in this hotel, I've booked a room with Cathedral View. The room is on the top, its really hard to bring our 3 heavy luggage to the room. Although the room is with Cathedral View, its not the front site of the Cathedral, so we cant see the lighting show though the room, we still need to walk to the Cathedral, which make no sense to pay extra chg to book this room. My son sleep at 9pm and the show began at 10pm, and I planed to watch the lighting show in the room with my husband. Instead, I go out alone and my husband must stay in the hotel take care of our baby.
Review 28:good location.just 1min to the Cathedral. Staff are very friendly. He help us to bring the heavy luggage to the room.
Review 29:I had trouble carrying our bags down the steep steps, but the hotel took care of this for me.
Review 30:The wonderful personal service we received in relation to our specific requests. The manager and receptionist went way beyond the normal call of duty. The position of the hotel is central and close to all the action spots.
Review 31:No on site car park though close to public secure car park
Review 32:Very quirky rooms in an old monks priory. Excellent friendly and helpful staff. Very central.
Review 33:3 couples stayed here. 2 were happy but I unfortunately was so disappointed. I lost the lottery. I stayed in Room 7 which was on the first floor. We had sheer curtains on windows which faced on to a walkway. To avoid an early morning wake up from sun, night lights or to gain any privacy from people walking by, we needed to close metal shutters. It was like being in a box!! No natural light, hot weather and lights needed to be on so we could see. I can't understand how we all paid the same, yet my room was well below the standard of others!!!! The desk staff were so kind to the other couples but failed to address me at all. Maybe they were embarrassed about the room. I booked all accommodation throughout Europe for our 6 week stay and this was the most disappointing hotel I stayed in.
Review 34:Great location near the Cathedral.
Review 35:No soap provided by, but rectified when requested No lift, but staff assisted on booking in but not available on checking out
Review 36:Location, very central, easy walking distance to all sites
Review 37:They don't start serving breakfast until 08.30 which is hopeless if - as we did - you want to make an early start.
Review 38:Excellent location, lovely old building creatively modernised. Charming rooms in the roof overlooking the cathedral, and a central courtyard is pretty.
Review 39:Nothing
Review 40:The hotel itself is ideally located but the main thing is the staff- they are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble. This was our second visit
Review 41:Although a map accompaniied our booking form, having booked months in advance, we forgot all about it; this map is very important when finding a car park bear the hotel. We parked quite done distance away abd had to bump cases up many flights of steps in the sweltering heat Our room was the old chapel and on arrival, there was the modt awful smell coming from the bath, thus persisted throughout our stay and was hugely unpleasant . We were offered an alternative room but this was up in the attic space and the heat was insufferable , ( there are no lifts in this hotel). On the second night we were provided with a fan.
Review 42:On arrival we had the most wonderful welcome from Emma. She gave us excellent advice on where to eat and the places to visit. She also informed us about the light show on the cathedral, it was truly breathtaking.
Review 43:We didn't have any particularly bad experiences, but we wished that our room had air conditioning because we couldn't sleep due to the hot weather.
Review 44:The friendly staff at the hotel reception
Review 45:No parking nearby so had to drag luggage as street was closed for the fair. No lift - had to drag luggage up stairs
Review 46:Great service by Emma on front desk. Close to Cathedral. Cute French decor.
Review 47:Nothing!
Review 48:Excellent location adjacent to Cathedral. Very comfortable and well appointed hotel. Hotel staff could not have been more helpful in ensuring our stay was memorable. Although the hotel does not have lift the staff were insistent on moving the baggage upstairs!
Review 49:Generally the Hotel looked tired and whilst efforts had been made to modernise some did not work that well. Our room had just been refurbished and a new bathroom had been fitted. Stepping into the bath to shower was positively dangerous. The bath was high and no handles or rails were available which made it very difficult for elderly people to gain access.
Review 50:Great position, plenty of restaurants nearby. The reception staff were great. Breakfast was good.
Review 51:room seems to be smaller than advertised.shower tap was a bit too old for hotel.there's no night curtains so you can not open window in the room with courtyard view(No 8) because people from certain rooms have to go past to get downstairs.it feels like you in the 'big brother' tv program everyone watching what you're doing in the room.
Review 52:this is unique hotel with exceptional staff.
Review 53:Be prepared to take bags up winding stairs although staff did offer to help.
Review 54:Right near the cathedral. Close underground car park. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 55:Perhaps more towels and a mirror in the bedroom... Just suggestions. Nothing to dislike.
Review 56:Location in the centre next to cathedral. Staff extremely helpful. Beautiful renovated bedroom.
Review 57:It would have been nice to have some milk in the room for tea/coffee
Review 58:Very friendly and helpful staff. Super breakfast. Very comfortable room, great to have nespresso machine in room.
Review 59:Fantastic receptionist who gave lots of helpful information. Beautiful room in a fantastic querky hotel. Amazing location. Brilliant stay all round.
Review 60:At checkout the price was quoted in euros but charged in pounds sterling, adding 2.95% to the exchange rate. Booking.com had said it would be paid in local currency and then this was done without me being told.
Review 61:Extremely helpful staff and excellent location
Review 62:Excellent base to explore Amiens and the Somme. Staff so helpful and friendly - good advice on local restaurants, activities etc. It's 3 star so not the height if luxury but really nice for a few nights. Continental breakfast was fine for 9Euros - usual cereals pastries, cold meat, cheese, fruit, bread etc. We did it on the morning we checked out to save time but there are lots of other nice cafés nearby as well. Parking nearby was free as it was a Sunday and bank holiday Monday but this meant a lot of local shops were closed. We didn't mind though as we were there for the historic sites etc which were all open.
Review 63:This was our second visit to this hotel . The location is as close to the part of town we wanted to spend our time in as we could imagine . We walked everywhere and didn't use our car at all . the rooms are historic , clean and very comfortable . The staff are wonderful !!
Review 64:Hotel is really very nice and unique. Personal is great. Building is beautiful and it exactly near the Cathedral Notre-Dame d'Amiens. Strongly recommended)
Review 65:No lift, but the manager insisted on carrying our luggage up to the room. No bar or restaurant.
Review 66:Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely old building in the heart of the city with plenty of good bars and restaurants nearby.
Review 67:The stairs to the 2nd floor are quite steep and require some dexterity. Not recommended for persons with health problems or a need to carry heavy baggage. The rooms are very cute with a super view of the side of the cathedral!
Review 68:I had to work in the area and my husband was able to see all the sites! The staff was extremely helpful and their English was great. I have to go back for business soon and will not hesitate to book here again.
Review 69:Bathroom (rm 11), was chilly, with very minimal heating. Towels didn't dry overnight. Heated towel rail would do the trick!
Review 70:The staff are amazing. They make a real effort to connect with their guests. Rooms with character.
Review 71:For us, the bathroom needed a free standing shower not the corner bath. Very functional and clean but not too our taste.
Review 72:Excellent staff, extremely helpful in french, english and german. The bed was so comfortable, had a lovely nights sleep. View of the cathedral from the room which was amazing! . Breakfast excellent.
Review 73:It was a rare experience to stay in such an historic building just meters away from the cathedral and to be greeted by a friendly and very knowledgeable staff.
Review 74:Bathroom a bit cramped, and basin too high, although we understand a refit is planned.
Review 75:Ambience. View of cathedral. Front of house and other staff friendly and informative.
Review 76:Though I had difficulty with Wifi, I was loaned a tablet to use during our stay Occasional noise in the stairway and hall (we were near the breakfast room). However, definitely not a deal-breaker
Review 77:Convenience of the location, friendliness and helpfulness of the reception staff and proprietor, comfort and view of room, good breakfast with fresh local breads, availability of Tablet when my wifi didn't work
Review 78:The overall 'quaintness' and 'frenchness' of the property. The room was absolutely huge and very comfortable. Owners and staff very helpful and accomodating. Close to everything we needed and located within a lovely old walled area. We just loved it.
Review 79:It's hard to nit pick as the facilities were accurately described before we booked but we chose to eat out rather than pay for breakfast. This actually added to our experience in Amiens as everywhere we ate was fantastic.
Review 80:The staff were exceptional throughout our stay. Even before we arrived the service exceeded my expectations. The location is pretty, central and clean. The room was large and the bed cosy.
Review 81:Floor a bit too squeeky, I felt embarassed walking at night.
Review 82:I paid a little extra and got an unbelievable view of the cathedral, much more impressive than the photographs. I could see it even from my pillow. The room was spacious, bed comfortable, and there was a very practical long shelf/table/desk running along one entire wall. Wifi worked smoothly and allowed for VPN connections. Breakfast was great, especially the ham and crepes.
Review 83:The absolute perfect location for a stay in Amiens. From our room we had views of the cathedral, and were only a very short walk away to all the lovely restaurants. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay. The room was amply comfortable.
Review 84:Bath surround needed fixing One night (hot so had window open) was quite noisy outside, the second night was fine.
Review 85:The reception was extremely helpful. Bed/mattress very comfortable Nice bed linen Breakfast good Bathroom spacious Staff generally very helpful
Review 86:I would prefer to see toiletries provided rather than merely a soap dispenser on the wall. Also, the cheap plastic cups provided in the bathroom give poor impressoni
Review 87:Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Located in a very quiet part of town near the cathedral and within easy reach of all places of interest. Very clean and comfortable. Macarons on the reception desk when we arrived.
Review 88:the room was very very warm, no air-conditioning. Bathroom smelt a little damp. Thick duvet provided only, no flat-sheets or blankets, which would have been more appropriate for the warm weather. Bathroom had a bath with hand-shower head only - not a walk-in or stand-under shower. Decore a little tired in places. Bathroom bin had no lid. Cheap toilet paper.
Review 89:good central location right by Cathedral. Comfy bed/mattress Free wi-fi Pleasant staff Walking distance to restaurants Stylish decor. Parking available in private garage if you ask at the reception desk (we were not made aware of this beforehand).
Review 90:The rooms were charming and several led straight from the courtyard. The staff were excellent in providing information about how to arrive by car and instructions for a late check in ahead of time. The breakfast room was also airy with lots of character and food very good for continental. We had a very comfortable sleep and had just enough room for our travel cot for our daughter.
Review 91:No lift and steep stairs to access our room. The standard of breakfast could be improved - choice of cereals was poor, no fresh fruit
Review 92:It was great to be able to stay in a hotel with character at an affordable price. The staff was very helpful anf welcoming and the location, near the beautiful cathedral, excellent.
Review 93:Could do with some facilities updating in rooms (bathroom/plumbing) - for the price though good value especially considering the location
Review 94:Location couldn't be better, very VERY quirky old hotel, staff very helpful couldn't do enough for you. Town excellent for food/drinks and walks along the river.
Review 95:Beautiful old building, its right in the centre, with cathedral round the corner, and an amazing building, we had a lovely interesting room with rooftop views. Very helpful informative reception staff, a great stay.
Review 96:Fantastic location right next to the cathedral as well as shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful. The room was spacious and clean but retained its period character. We would definitely go back!
Review 97:we booked Le Chapel from pictures and descriptions on the internet and were very happy with the actual room. it was a lovely room. we would especially like to commend the Receptionist - Emma - who really did a fantastic job of welcoming us, telling us all about nearby attractions, marking on a map where there were and making some suggestions for restaurants for our evening meal, one of which we chose and had a super meal. al staff though were very helpful and friendly including the lady who helped us at breakfast. for a city centre hotel it is far better than many we have stayed in in other cities.
