Reviews for Hôtel De Normandie

Review 1:We could hear all noise of hotel, means the sound of shower, walk, a bit of communication.

Review 2:Near from the station, the staff is very kind and helpful. Good connection of Internet.

Review 3:Great location with helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to help with access to the hotel on a very busy evening when access was restricted due to the Christmas market. The hotel is just off the main shopping street with it's own secure indoor parking. It's couple of minutes walk from the station and 5 - 10 minutes walk from the bars & restaurants in the popular Saint-Leu quarter. And yet, it was very quiet at night. Good value for money and we will happily stay again.

Review 4:Rooms small but bathroom smart and clean. Very tight to get out of the parking! Thanks to staff for the help.

Review 5:Location was wonderful, right next to the Christmas market and the cathedral. Very clean rooms. Great staff. Secure parking.

Review 6:Hotel is old and could do with some renovation.

Review 7:Very conveniently situated and close to car hire and tourist destinations. Liked being able to garage car during stay. Breakfast was more than adequate.

Review 8:The stairs! But it added to the character of the building and the stay so not a problem really.

Review 9:The room was clean, bright and spacious and the location was superb! The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 10:Poor breakfast, rooms far too cramped and awkward access staircases to rooms. You can hear a lot of the other guests too.

Review 11:The location and garage facility is excellent

Review 12:No real bad experience but it would be difficult if you were at all disabled due to steep steps etc (but they do point this out). They have a garage for 4 cars which was excellent and can be booked in advance but, otherwise, street parking might be difficult Nearest restaurants (good) 1Km or so away - near the cathedral

Review 13:Very convenient for the cathedral and les Hortillonages Very good breakfast choice Pleasant staff - some English speaking

Review 14:Really convenient for centre of town - 5 mins from station 5 mins from Cathedral - 2 mins shops. Very obliging staff who coped excellently with my poor French. Excellent value all round. But be warned - narrow twisty staircase and no lift. My room was adequate (carpet a bit worn) lovely bed, good shower and loo - though not ideal for two unless you really just use it for sleeping. Breakfast is extra - 6euros a day - plenty to eat but as usual all cold (bread, croissant, jams, cheeses, cereal, juice, fruit etc). I travel solo mostly - if I'd been with anyone I would have chosen somewhere more luxurious, but it was perfectly adequate for me.

Review 15:It was very hot when we were there, and we did find it hard to sleep in the room.

Review 16:Really good location, walking distance to most places in Amiens. The hotel staff were really helpful and friendly.

Review 17:Room was on 1st floor and with 2 x 25 kg + 2 cabin cases , not good with no lift. Staff lady did help

Review 18:Staff was excellent, good location , close to most things

Review 19:was noisy through the night but might just have caught it on a bad night,

Review 20:you get what you pay for,was cheap and stopped one night, clean and very central with friendly staff and a good breakfast,

Review 21:No lift, with steep, narrow steps up to room! Fortunately we don't have oversize bags but still a minor challenge on arrival and departure.

Review 22:Very good breakfast. Pleasant view (from level 4) across nearby rooftops. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was compact but workable.

Review 23:No hairdryer sadly, but apart from that everything was good. only stayed one night, not sure how it would be for a longer stay.

Review 24:Staff! Anna Was her name I believe who was so friendly and helpful. Location was great and Garage was able to be used. Very economical pricing too.

Review 25:Lack of a lift was a drawback, but they make this lack clear on their booking.com page.

Review 26:Location very central, close to both cathedral and railway station. Own garage was a big plus. Breakfast room with sensational modern stained glass.

Review 27:Very simple and cheap interiors (except breakfast room). No lift. Toilet and shower just fenced by the wall inside the room, and the wall height incomplete, or no door at all (in room where our friends lived). But the bed is comfortable, the linens clean, and it is place quiet enough - so you can spend one night, but without pleasure.

Review 28:Perfect location. And it is all.

Review 29:The bathroom was like a changing room, the walls were as thin as paper, there were no facilities such as a hair dryer, kettle, iron, etc. there were just a bath towel no hand towels. People came in throughout the night & you could hear EVERYTHING!

Review 30:It was cheap and close to the high street

Review 31:There's nothing not to like about the Hotel Normandie. It 's a "must stay" location. But keep in mind that there's no lift and it's a 3 story walk-up.

Review 32:If you're looking for reasonably priced accommodation in the centre of Amiens with helpful staff, a yummy breakfast, and parking (if you arrive early enough), then this is your hotel. We loved our stay and will return.

Review 33:We were quite disappointed from the bed linings. The pillow cases were missing. That was quite strange for us. And because we arrived at the hotel very late in the evening, there wasn't anyone from the staff to ask for pillow cases.

Review 34:We liked that the hotel is in the centre of the town. The staff was really good giving us a parking space in front of the hotel and to tell us the code to enter the hotel as we arrived there late at the evening. Thanks a lot for that! The room was good size with a bathroom built in it, which was excellent.

Review 35:The Hotel de Normandie was in an excellent location, a few minutes walk from Amiens Cathedral. It is a really quaint, very clean hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are small but for the money and the location the hotel was great. There is a lovely little lounge area with a beautiful stained glass window on the first floor. Parking is available in the garage for 6 Euro. It is a tight fit and limited but we had no problem getting a small van in there. The staff were great.

Review 36:Lighting in room a bit drab and in corridor poor.

Review 37:Excellent location near Cathedral. Staff very helpful and accommodated storage of 3 cycles. Very nice stylish dining room and breakfast good.

Review 38:Poorly maintained, shabby carpets, poor excuse for a bathroom cubicle inside room, stairs are going to injure someone (no lifts), breakfast is a rip off at 7.50EUR

Review 39:Leaving

Review 40:The room we stayed in looked a little tired and was in need of some attention, it was clean and comfortable however.

Review 41:The staff were efficient and knowledgable - the location was great close to the train station and a good choice of restaurants. We were even able to park on site which was terrific.

Review 42:Excellent location, garage for motorbikes and close to shops & restaurants.

Review 43:Nothing I didn't like

Review 44:Situated in a superb location for exploring this town.

Review 45:The place smelled very badly, staff seemed to be in a chaos situation all the time. The place needed a total revamp.

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:Limited facilities

Review 48:Great city centre location but small rooms

Review 49:Hotel was in a one way street so difficult to drive too the first time

Review 50:Top location

Review 51:Room too small for the price

Review 52:Breakfast good, but has to be paid extra

Review 53:Situation en centre ville

Review 54:Outlook from room.

Review 55:The ambience. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 56:My little room was lovely and clean, I loved the colour of the furniture. And the staff was really helpful, very kind.

Review 57:The staff especially Anne were more than helpful and very friendly

Review 58:minimal criticism - the stairs - but would not deter me from staying again.

Review 59:last-minute booking in emergency fulfilled my requirements entirely

Review 60:Room old tired, no door on bathroom, reeked of stale smoke, all in all a quite dreadful experience.

Review 61:Nothing.

Review 62:smoking is allowed in the rooms even though it states non-smoking

Review 63:The location The breakfast was good

Review 64:Staff cold and room equipment definitely "essential"

Review 65:WiFi, silence

Review 66:Night Staff. No door on toilet in bedroom.

Review 67:Location

Review 68:Location couldn't be better, staff were friendly and hotel was clean.

Review 69:Room was basic no door on toilet shower so no privacy & my garden shed has more space

Review 70:Hotels location was excellent

Review 71:Smal room with no door to the toilet.

Review 72:Close to the center. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Review 73:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is very good for all the main tourist sites and transport links.

Review 74:bed was comfy

Review 75:Very steep stairs.

Review 76:Central location in Amiens.

Review 77:No lift, three floors up with luggage to carry.

Review 78:It needs doing up a lot of woodworm dust on stairs bqeakfast fair not good value

Review 79:Location v good

Review 80:Rooms very small with little hanging or storage space. No privacy between room and en-suite. Certainly not suitable for a couple staying more than one night. Would be suitable for backpackers.

Review 81:Comfortable bed

Review 82:I didn't like the fact it had no lift. We didn't discover it had no lift until it was booked - no hint before hand. We had to cart all our luggage upstairs as we had our car parked on the street and thought it unsafe to leave it inside the car.

Review 83:We liked the proximity to everything. The bed was comfortable.

Review 84:Room small double bed against wall. Bathroom had no door a shower curtain instead, very small in the corner of the room

Review 85:Good location, garage avalible to park motor bikes. Breakfast good

Review 86:Very small rooms with little storage or hanging space. Not really meant for couples staying more than one night. Staircase very worn and tricky when carrying luggage. No lift. No separation between En-suite and bedroom.

Review 87:Comfortable bed, friendly staff, good secure parking for motorcycle. Decent breakfast for two star.

Review 88:We were disappointed with the ensuite facilities but the hotel was fully booked and we were unable to change to another room. By way of apology, the hotel gave us a free breakfast which I thought was excellent customer service.

Review 89:We were on the 4th floor. Small twisted stairs, no lift. No air conditioning, hot even with windows open during the night. Heard the man from floor below snoring. Noisy outside. Very expensive Euros 63.20 for small poor standard of room. Decor not up to date.

Review 90:It was near the central of the town

Review 91:poor substandard breakfast, customers left alone with empty coffee can and anyhow poor buffet while staff not available bathroom in bad condition, broken fixtures, very low water pressure

Review 92:Staff helpful to provide access during late arrival

Review 93:Although promised wifi when booking, we were old it was broken. However, they had a problem with locating our booking and were able to look up the Internet to sort that out. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Review 94:Close to railway station and mall

Review 95:No pillows on the bed, just the bolster as a pillow. We found the pillows in the wardrobe the following morning.

Review 96:Clean and tidy hotel in a good location with an excellent breakfast. Good value for money.

Review 97:No 24 hr staff on premises. En suite toilet facilities in a 'wardrobe' like construction in the corner of the room.

Review 98:Location, Location. Hotel garage at 6 euros per night (could have been cheaper)

Review 99:This is not so much a dislike, but we found it very humourus, that in the one bedroom, that we had, the toilet was actually built into one half of the wardrobe!!!

Review 100:The hotel was clean and comfortable. Looked after by the staff very well and they were knowledgeable on the local attractions, which is more than I could say about the Local Information office. Hotel close to the main high street.

Review 101:To have to share a room even with my adult daughter and to have no door on the loo was embarrassing, a curtain doesn't do. I wouldn't even expect that in a youth hostel. We stayed in a magic hostel in Chartres for a great deal less. There the rooms and the breakfast were all excellent

Review 102:The garage and the situation close to the cathedral.

Review 103:Too late to check out as staff was not on duty until after 8.30am and car was locked up until 9am. Worst part was the smokers on a non smoking floor. The stink interrupted our sleep.

Review 104:Hotel was reasonably clean and staff was helpful when there.

Review 105:Well, the hotel is in an old building and therefore you can expect some surprises like awkward room sizes, no lift and no bathroom facilities. We booked rooms with "private WC and bathroom" facilities and yes, we got them. However, they were "built in" the rooms. Our "WC and bathroom" was just a rectangular shape box with plastic folding doors that never worked properly, walls didn't reach ceiling, so you can only imagine... Yes, they were private from the other guests of the hotel, however not that private from other room user :) But I believe that was all that could have been done to get a private WC and bathroom in that hotel...

Review 106:Location and staff. Hotel is located in the center of Amiens, close to everything you may wish/need. And it has a garage that we required. Not many hotels provide a car park there, not at this price range. Staff was excellent!

Review 107:Tiny room on the third floor, up some very narrow and steep winding stairs, at the back of the hotel. Would not be any good for anyone unfit or large. The shower room was literally in a cupboard. It was extremely hot in the room but the window only opened a fraction. had to leave the door open to get some air into room, as did other guests on out floor.

Review 108:Great location, a couple of minutes from the cathedral. Friendly staff. Good breakfast in a beautiful dining room.

Review 109:Old fashioned building ; though it may have some charm, as far as the breakfast room is concerned, the whole is unpleasant: the staircase is extremly narrow and stiff; room are noisy; the breakfast itself is average; staff is useless....

Review 110:Very central location

Review 111:Tiny bedroom with very poor en suite facilities; no lift even to the top floors; room stuffy with no view whatsoever; poor value with all other city hotels on this trip, including Strasbourg, Colmar, Arras.

Review 112:Central location

Review 113:'Bathroom' very small. Showerhead too high. Arrived on a Sunday and the hotel closes at 2.30. Just arrived in time, otherwise we would have had to use a code to get in. That was sent to us in time, but not very welcoming. No one around at breakfast either.

Review 114:Clean, bed was comfortable. Location was very convenient.

Review 115:everything else! the price was extortionate. the whole place was dirty smelly and rather drab. mould everywhere threadbare carpets paper hanging off walls. breakfast was poor and again expensive. to say the place needed updating is an understatement. I don't ever want to stay there again. in fact i will be careful using booking.com again and i book in hotels for business almost every week.

Review 116:to be fair the garage was very secure

Review 117:A lot of noise from people entering other bedrooms -no soundproofing of doors. Minimum of items in bathroom eg one thin towel each, no soap on first day.

Review 118:Liked it being close to station

Review 119:Have to admit there was a very slight smell of cigarette smoke. Otherwise very good.

Review 120:Although centrally placed,. 2 and half minutes from station and in the centre of the pedestrian area it was absolutely quiet. Very handy for cathedral and other places of interests. Good restaurants 1 minute away. Other occupants quiet and considerate

Review 121:Hotel was dirty/years of neglect . Our bedroom had filth on the wall/ beds/ linen can only be discribed as 3rd world . Bathroom was 1 metre wide, toilet flush had unmentionable deposit on it . I've attempted to find positives regarding the hotel but find it difficult . €15 per night would put this hotel in perspective . To end, staff are friendly but doooo not stay here .

Review 122:Nothing .

Review 123:This hotel is in the centre of Amiens. The location could not have beenbetter. Accomodation was good although basic. The breakfast was typicalFrench, well presented and fresh. I stayed just one night and my roomwas on the third floor with no lift. I would imagine if the stay waslonger climbing the stairs would be a pain. To be fair to the hotel, they do warn of this is advance. The hotel is only a five munte walk tothe wonderful cafes, bars and restaurants that line the river in view ofthe cathedral. I would definitely stay there again

Review 124:This place is run down. The whole of the fabric is teetering toward the unacceptable. It's not a matter of cleanliness as the staff obviously do there best. It's just worn out.

Review 125:The location is fine. The sheets were of cool cotton and made getting into bed a pleasure.

Review 126:No elevators.

Review 127:Location. Breakfast, which was excellent, was optional (I'm not a breakfast person).

Review 128:creaky wooden hallways

Review 129:Location, room decor

Review 130:Lack of an elevator, creaky floor boards, very thin walls and enthusiastic neighbours

Review 131:Location, staff support

Review 132:wifi didn't work at all. no toilet door.

Review 133:good location. friendly staff. great bed and slience.

Review 134:wifi

Review 135:No alternate tv channels (minor)

Review 136:Location central to everything but not noisy. Friendly helpful staff. Garage perking
