Reviews for Hôtel Les Mélèzes
Review 1:Next to the ski lifts but hotel does not allow ski preparation. There is a ski room but you can't use it for waxing/tuning skis. Not allowed on balconies either. So not good for ski racers coming for a race.
Review 2:Clean rooms, fresh towels and plenty hot water for showers.
Review 3:The nice lady who works there speaks very basic English.
Review 4:The hotel is located in a pleasant and quiet city, far from the tourist hustle but 10-minute drive from Chamonix / Mont Blanc. Basic room, clean and spacious. The pictures reflect the hotel. There is a balcony and the view from the room is very beautiful. Free parking by the hotel.
Review 5:Right on route for Tour Mont Blanc. Les Houches is a quite town away from the touristy hussle of Chamonix but with good restaurants and facilities Free parking Free shuttle for getting around Chamonix valley
Review 6:Not air-conditioned if weather is very hot.
Review 7:Large room with balcony on upper floor with less traffic noise. Not air-conditioned. Several restaurants and basic shops nearby. Lift. Good continental breakfast.
Review 8:the water radiator was noisy and disturbed my partners sleep - when turned to silent it was too hot or cold - so maybe the valve needs adjusting
Review 9:they helped us with a glitch in booking
Review 10:Poor WiFi generally. Wifi in our room did'nt work at all and the bandwidth was poor. (No facetime possibilities anywhere in the hotel)
Review 11:Clean and reasonably priced.
Review 12:Perfect location so close to the ski lifts, friendly and hospitable host well kept rooms and wonderful views from the balcony! Excellent value for money
Review 13:The wifi signas at the room was poor, but I just used to checkin my flight, so I went to the lobby and it was just fine
Review 14:Great price for what You have it! When in Chamonix again, I'll DEFINETLY be back to this place! It's kind of a ski in- out for a great price
Review 15:The staff speaks just English. You don't have a lot of restaurants around.
Review 16:It is about 1 minute walk to ski lift. You find some ski rental shops, Free Shuttle Bus stop is there.
Review 17:Not enough parking at hotel (maybe 8 spaces for approx 50 rooms), rooms were freezing (until the weekend and then the heat was turned on), bedding was itchy, towels smelled like mildew, wifi was almost unusably slow
Review 18:Close to Les Houches ski resort, walking distance to several shops and restaurants, great value for money
Review 19:No one spoke a word of English. I shouldnt complain as we were in France but it made getting any info difficult. The hotel point you in the direction of Cyprien Sports for ski hire. Whilst the shop were fine and give you a 20% reduction I would hire from somewhere nearer the lift. This allows you to leave all your stuff near the lift rather than carting back to the hotel everynight
Review 20:Nearness to the Bellvue Chairlift was a positive as was the price. As the heading says it was basic but clean and comfortable without any trimmings. Parking was an added bonus
Review 21:We booked a weekend of snowboarding in Les Houches and the location of this hotel makes it an ideal destination, being only an hour transfer from Geneva Airport. The room was a good size, warm and quiet. The breakfast was nice as well. In terms of distance to ski lifts it was great, only a 2 minute walk. The local pub and restaurant were also a 2 minute walk.
Review 22:We booked a last minute Ski trip - Hotel Melezes was clean and tidy, in a great location and overall, although very basic, great value for money. The staff spoke little English, but were polite and helpful in every way.
Review 23:I've seen a lot of negative reviews of this place, but we decided to take a chance because we arrived late and the alternative was to sleep in the car. It was absolutely fine. Cheap and cheerful. No frills, but clean and comfy. What else do you want for this price!? I would have no hesitation about staying again.
Review 24:The owner spoke little English but we figured everything out. Breakfast is 5 Eu extra
Review 25:close to Chamonix - couldn't get anything there for a reasonable price.
Review 26:Local Pizza place on the corner. Made out there was no space for thewhole evening, even though there was loads of empty tables. Said therewas another Pizza place 500 metres away, which we walked to in the rain, only to find it was a take away. Best avoided
Review 27:Comfy beds, nice shower, simple but nice breakfast. Easy for Alpybus tofind before transfer to Geneva. Conveniently at the end of the tmb(anticlockwise).
Review 28:Had the feeling of an old hospital...cold, drab & a bit gloomy. Outside of building much nicer than inside.
Review 29:Ok for one night passing through. Heater in the bathroom was good.
Review 30:Breakfast croissants and bread could have been fresher.
Review 31:Great value for money
Review 32:Staff didn't speak English very well
Review 33:Good value for money, low rates, clean rooms
Review 34:Good value accomodation and good location
Review 35:the room was too cold, breakfast was bad, we could get more for the same price in chamonix, the locaton was very far from chamonix
Review 36:its really nice view at baconies
Review 37:It was on the way to Italy
Review 38:no frills basic clean hotel. Pleasant staff good location near Bellevue teleferique
Review 39:No restaurant, but short walk to a good choice.

Review 55:Clean, comfortable, convenient, welcoming staff, economical
Review 56:Smell in reception
Review 57:Simplicity of room Cleanliness of room Location
Review 58:The hotel says "pet friendly", but is not allowed leave them alone in the room. Poor breakfast.
Review 59:Excellent location.
Review 60:Dangerous ice outside front door. Shower had a tendency to run cold.
Review 61:Close to lift, ski hire and eve entertainment.
Review 62:Had a strange smell about the place... Not in rooms luckily.
Review 63:The room was clean and warm but very basic...
Review 64:Close to Bellevue
Review 65:small bed basic but fine
Review 66:position next to the slopes cheap
Review 67:Excellent value for money in perfect position - staff always friendly and helpful to us, we will be returning soon and know exactly what to expect
Review 68:No hotel bar
Review 69:Clean hotel at a fantastic price Everything is fairly basic but works and is clean.
Review 70:The way the host wouldn't speak English back to us!
Review 71:Location was ideal, only a few minutes stroll from the ski lift and centre of the village.
Review 72:Friendly staff, clean and functional with spacious rooms. Well located for the Bellevue lift and close to restaurants.
Review 73:of the main road close to restaurants and walking distance to ski lift.
Review 74:Clean, friendly and a pleasant, good value place to stay.
Review 75:Beds are a bit small if you ask for twin beds. Wifi did not arrive to all rooms
Review 76:Service excellent, very helpfull
Review 77:We had a really good stay. The staff were very helpful and nice. The room for three was big and clean
Review 78:weather
Review 79:Casual, near shop & bus stop
Review 80:breakfast
Review 81:location staff
Review 82:Staff not hugely helpful, but were fine.
Review 83:Good breakfast, clean and tidy bathrooms.
Review 84:Bo odor in reception. Breakfast very ordinary, even by French standards
Review 85:Super for Bellevue cable car.
Review 86:Second time we stayed we were given a room in the old part of the building- definitely needed a refurb, and there was only a handheld shower In the bath. Also bad smell from the kitchen extraction below our window.
Review 87:Stayed a couple of times in this hotel. First time we had a clean comfortable and reasonably spacious room in the newer part of the hotel - we felt it was good value- close to the cablecar for skiing.
Review 88:The reception area smelt weird, a bit like body odour? it was disturbing. The internet was through a sign in, so if you leave it idle for a bit, you'd have to constantly log in (very annoying). Breakfast was only for pre-booking, so you couldnt decide to have breakfast (and pay 10 euro) that morning. It needed to be pre-determined.
Review 89:amazing location to les houches , almost ski in and ski out. close to intersport.
Review 90:Even though I was the only guest that week the hotel is noisy when people are moving around. I would think it would be awful when the hotel is full as noise carries easily. There are no facilities to have a hot drink in the room but this is not unheard of in France.
Review 91:difficult to review as I was the only person staying in the hotel at the time. The room was clean and tidy and had been updated recently. I didn't eat breakfast there as it didn't fit in with my plans . The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 92:Breakfast - not worth paying the 5 EUR pp per day! only coffee, cereals and some pastries! much better to go opposite the lift
Review 93:Great location, easy access to lifts for Les Houches ski resort, restaurants and bars Good heating system and power shower, ideal after a cold day skiing
Review 94:the awful smell terrible breakfast terrible room, so basic it looked like a prison. Staff that looked like they needed a good hair wash and change of clothes. we only stayed the first night and then checked into another hotel despite having paid for 3 nights.
Review 95:absolutely nothing
Review 96:This hotel is actually disgusting. So much so that on arriving at the hotel we agreed that none of us could bear to stay there. There is a smell of mouldy cheese or body adour that permeates the lobby and corridors of the building. The rooms are tiny, the beds are like 20 year old camp beds with dirty blankets and the bathroom was filthy and mouldy. This hotel charging 90 euros a night is basically daylight robbery, it would be a stretch to justify paying 20 euros to stay here. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!!
Review 97:Checking out of this utter flea pit!
Review 98:After having read comments from other guests, I really thought that the lady running the place was going to be unpleasant but she was all right. We booked this place as it was the only accommodation left available in that area for a price that wasn´t too high. If you can afford something better do not hesitate to avoid this place. It is generally speaking not a very pleasant 2-star hotel and the smell at the reception is very off putting. However if you are not fussy and you want somewhere no too expensive (not cheap either!) it may then be O.K but be prepared to stay in somewhere more similar to a cheap hostel than a hotel. Our room was quiet though (at the back of the hotel) but small and with a very uncomfortable shower, and a dodgy toilet. This place is one of the worse place I have ever been but Chamonix is so expensive that we had to end up here.
Review 99:Not far from supermarkets, bars, restaurants and cable car for Les Houches resort.
Review 100:smell of the room was awful, it was dirty, the bathroom without curtains so after shower everything is wet around, the lamps near by bed are with sharp ends, so that it's easy to break your head, rooms are depressive.
Review 101:The awful smell in the lobby area. The breakfast. Rather pay a couple of Euro extra for a decent breakfast.
Review 102:The closeness to the Bellevue cabin. The clean bathroom and shower.
Review 103:Owner has very bad BO and the lobby reflects this! (Don't go in the lift with her) Owner very abrupt / rude (Although she did seem to thaw a bit the longer we were there). Rooms don't have Tea / Coffee / kettle etc Not even a decent sized glass for a drink of water at night. If you ask for them you get : Non! (This seemed to be a standard response) Small bar of soap in bathroom - never replenished (good job we had our own) €5 breakfast is for cereal and Croissant. Orange Juice is poured in a plastic cup and waiting for you. After the first morning we asked for our money back for the remaining stay. Went to Kitsch Inn for breakfast after that. (Located behind the Belle Vue Lift) Good food and staff pleasant. Noisy guests clumping about talking loudly @ 1am - most nights. Surprised it got a 2 * rating.
Review 104:Location to Belle Vue lift / Les Houches. Cleanliness of the room - brilliant Great comfortable bed! amazing sleep for a hotel. Decent sized room with good views (front of building - not sure of rear - but probably better as Mont Blanc on that side) Good sized Boot / ski room (although not always warm!) Easy access to Kitsch Inn / La Delice etc
Review 105:Booked it with Bookings.com and got a room for 3 people because there were no two bed rooms left. When I arrived there were lots of two bed rooms at a cheaper rate but too late for us .. Not impressed with that Booking.com Breakfast was very poor but having said that it only cost 5Euro Better off going to the local shops for breakfast. I agree it is a two star hotel but at 100 EURO per night for a basic room I would not think it value for money. The hotel has more of a hostel feeling that a two star hotel.
Review 106:The hotel is ideally situation near to the BelleVue cable car and a short bus ride to Prairon. Facilities are basic and whilst a continental breakfast is available at a small cost there are no restaurant or bar facilities. Rooms are small but more than adequate if just using as a base to explore the mountains and the valley. I have stayed here many times and for value for money in the area with the position it is difficult to beat.
Review 107:Breakfast is sparse, but for 5€ I think it's ok. The rooms leaves alot to ask for if you are used to bussiness hotels.
Review 108:Friendly staff and clean rooms. Everything you need in a ski resort.
Review 109:Good basic accomodation and very handy for the ski station for the slopes above Les Houches (50 metres), the bus to Chamonix (50 metres) and the motorway network (200 metres). Jas a small car park and boot room facilities and if the car park is full then only 50 metres away from public car park. Very good for a couple of days accomodation for skiing in the Chamonix valley.
Review 110:There is quite noice from other rooms.
Review 111:The rooms match the description. Ideal if you are looking just something for sleeping. Breakfast is modest but sufficient.
Review 112:This is a reliable and friendly basic place as a base for Les Houches and if you use the buses (put away any British notion of orderly queing) or take a car, is great value for the Chamonix valley. I have been with kids, alone and with adults. Access and parking are excellent. If you dont need a spa bath or huge breakfast and are focussed more on the beauty of the mountains than of your hotel room give this a go. And also drop in on Serge at Cachat sport for equipment hire. Great value and Serge' stories.
Review 113:The lady who runs the establishment is quite unhelpful at times, even going out of her way to be unpleasant to guests. There is a powerful unpleasant smell on the grong floor. Breakfasts are very poor
Review 114:Location and value for money
Review 115:The cost of taxi into Chamonix No buses after 6.30pm No kettle in room No hairdryer
Review 116:The helpful and friendly staff The proximity to slopes and bus stop Free parking Free wifi Quiet Good value for money
Review 117:A woman at receptions don't speak English.
Review 118:Cheap hotel with nice rooms. Good location for TMB start/end. Bus stop is 300 from the hotel. Walk distance to lifts, grocery store and restaurants.
