Reviews for Hotel La Fontaine
Review 1:Wifi is not working properly
Review 2:Really nice swimming pool to recover after intense training (mountaineering, trail running, skiing,...) Kind and nice owners very helpful
Review 3:All off it, especially the massive tree in front of the window hiding the so called view of mount blanc. Tv remote wired to the wall... Joke. Shower pathetic. Brown stains on duvet toilet takes 5 mins to refill. Etc etc
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:Well equipped, interesting decor, good breakfast on demand, balcony with fantastic views. Really pleasant common room for use in the evening. You do need a car to get the best out of the location ( but we already knew this from reading other reviews).
Review 6:Location - on the road (though no road noise & excellent views) with no real pedestrian accessibility in winter, so really best for those travelling by car.
Review 7:Helpful owner / operators, very friendly & accomodating & pleasantly understated service - when I explained that I was travelling without a car they promptly drove me down to Servoz for dinner.
Review 8:Lacked atmosphere and location wasn't ideal for us.
Review 9:Rooms were roomy and clean. Shower good and plenty of hot water.
Review 10:Amazing location, brilliant staff. provided a free taxi service to the local village.
Review 11:The reception staff (probably the owners) do not speak English and behaves arrogantly.
Review 12:location is near the autoroute - no 24h check-in (lastest 10 pm)
Review 13:comfortable room
Review 14:Not the friendliest, a bit of a smile and some flexibility would make this into a lovely place to stay
Review 15:Nice communal area
Review 16:Great pool, great views of the mountains, very friendly.
Review 17:Just the location, however had checked on Google earth so booked a car.
Review 18:Good for what you pay, really need a car, staff friendly but will test your French, but in all ok.
Review 19:Bed was uncomfortable, slightly expensive for what it was, no lockers for ski gear, skis not allowed in room, no safe in room. Remote wired to wall, locks on the cupboards in the room.
Review 20:Owner was pleasant, providing information about restaurants around and other amenities. Room was clean, quite spacious, in general a positive stay. Toilet separate from the bathroom. Very quiet in the room.
Review 21:Location They have taken 67 euros from my card and i don't know why. We had 3 breakfasts in total x 8 Euros and 10 euro's worth of WiFi = 35 Euros ? 67
Review 22:The hotel is situated close to a dogpound and very nearby a busy highway so there's a lot of noise when you're on your balco y
Review 23:Friendly staff though their English is very! Limited. But they are willing to help you any time. Nice view at the mountains and nicely close to downtown Chamonix.
Review 24:-Location of the hotel is a bit isolated, having a car is a must. -Hotelis located near the highway and it's very noisy at nights speciallyat summer where windows should be kept open. -No air condition at hotel, summers can be hot in this area. -Room service was not perfect, trashbean were not emptied, towels missing, etc.
Review 25:-Good value for money for a summer hiking trip in the region. -Vendingmachines downstairs for hot and cold beverages as well as a microwaveoven for reheating the food if one decides to eat on his own. -Outdoorarea for picnic
Review 26:The hotel provided tiny towels only (more like hand towels) which was quite annoying, especially when using the swimming pool. There was ABSOLUTELY no heating our room, the radiator was not working or was not turned on (2 days was not enough to dry our wet ski gloves), however the room was not cold. The hotel charged my bank card with the whole amount before arrival... If the weather / snow is not good in the mountains, perhaps you want to leave the hotel earlier, but it is not possible...
Review 27:Good-sized room with balcony (not all of the rooms have though), car-park, nice swimming-pool
Review 28:there should be a refrigerator and a coffe maker in the room. this would had made the staying even more worth while.
Review 29:i liked the staying in the hotel which is located in an excellent location not far (10-15 min) from many ski resorts) . The manager is very kind and hospitile even without speaking english. the vending machines provide basic things. you definitly need a car.
Review 30:Only two ski busses in the morning at 8.20 and 11.30 and only one backto the hotel in the evening at 6.30. a car is a must if you stay here astaxis are difficult to get and quite expensive. There is no bar or foodin the evenings however the owners let you use the breakfast room toconsume your own food and drink.
Review 31:Clean but basic rooms. Kids really liked swimming pool. Pleasant staff.Great base for ski trip if you have own transport. Very cheep.
Review 32:Lack of info from staff re facilities, door code at night, meals etc,
Review 33:Car parking by hotel & easy access to roads to resorts. Flexible about check in time as room was free earlier than expected
Review 34:There were no bath towels or coffee making facilities in the room which we probably just assumed would be there.
Review 35:It was warm, comfortable and quiet / restful during the night.
Review 36:I didn't like paying 1 euro per hour for wi-fi (they ended upgiving it to us free because we stayed 5 nights, but that wasn'texplained to us until check-out -- I would have used more internet timehad I known!).I didn't like that the room I stayed in was very dimly lit -- difficult to read. I didn't like that they had a "bar" but there was no alcohol served. The breakfast was not impressive, especially for 8 euros per person. We ate their breakfast only once because the value was not good at all. There was also only a single outlet available for use in the room, unless you unplugged the t.v. I also believe the extra charge of 700 euros per week to use the kitchenette in the rooms was extremely excessive, especially considering the hotel is not located within walking distance of any restaurant and the hotel doesn't serve any meal aside from breakfast. It's almost like they know they have you in a bind so they try to capitalize on that. It struck me that this hotel needs some "energy" pumped into it. I believe the proprietors are very kind, but perhaps they are running out of steam in their golden years. It could be SO much more comfortable with a bar serving at least beer and wine, a better breakfast and perhaps options for afternoon snacks like cheese or sandwiches. They need to critically review the lighting in the rooms. Also, our room was very hot (in December). We ended up opening the window! I wish them the best but I wouldn't recommend this place, unfortunately.
Review 37:I liked the availability of parking.
Review 38:Needed a little bit of work
Review 39:Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean
Review 40:staff couldnt speak english, hotel was a bit siolated
Review 41:the spa was not working at night
Review 42:Totally unfriendly stuff, who litims the access to the dining and lobby areas up to 22h and dening to speak any other language than french
Review 43:Staff is very friendly and kind. Location is acceptable, 10km from Chamonix center.
Review 44:No restaurant in evening, need a car, dont rely on ski bus.
Review 45:Good value for money, pool ok, room ok for money.
