Reviews for Chris-Tal Hotel

Review 1:Stayed in the single "backpacker" room, was very pleasant and adequate, especially for the very low price. Breakfast was not included, but not overly expensive and quite rich. Staff agreed to hold my luggage for several while backpacking in the area - very nice of them! Location right next to a bus stop and a train station.

Review 2:Shared bathroom was in fact 3 separely located items... Sink, toilet and shower. Room was very cold with radiator not working. It was a snall room which I expected but 3 star hotel - I dont think so!

Review 3:Cheap, good location

Review 4:I stayed in one of the small single rooms which was simple but had all I needed. If I can suggest something, I think a checkout from 7:3o would be a perfect option as many of your customers are people hiking TMB. Otherwise, very good :)

Review 5:Poor service from the hotel receptionist / owner. He was not helpful when one of our party left their mobile charger behind and he refused to forward it to our next hotel.

Review 6:Good food and location

Review 7:The temperatures at night were 29/30 ....there was no air con or ceiling fan. We asked for a fan and were told to open the windows as the nights were cooler, it was still unbearable, and we had 4 really uncomfortable nights .No effort was made to make us feel valued guests. No "pleasantries" were exchanged even though the owner spoke fluent English and we tried out our French. No staff were to be found ,once we waited 30 mins for a drink. Breakfast was paltry and meals too dear.

Review 8:The location, cleanliness and pool.

Review 9:Sometimes we had to wait a long time to someone appear in the reception. The staff reception was not very friendly. They were trying to clean the bedroom before the check-out hour.

Review 10:The swimming pool. The bedroom is really nice, with a big balcony (with table and chairs), and with a wonderfull view. Free transportation to Chamonix. Very good breakfast.

Review 11:Great location. Cheap backpackers room for a solo traveller with all the required facilities and right beside the sauna. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 12:Wifi system with creation of account, doesnt't work. you are supposed to be redirected to the login page once connected, this is not happening Old bed with resorts The pool is a bit cold Far from cable cars and restaurants

Review 13:Nice staff, thay have a pool

Review 14:I chose a backpacker room. Simple standard, but perfect for my needs and really excellent value for money. Close to the bus stop, 3 mins to Les H/Bellevue and direct bus to Praz/Flegere and also to Grand M. Staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast (10 euros/day) enough to make a skier last well until late lunch.

Review 15:Central to the village and walks with great views. Grandson's school (French boy lives in village) virtually next door so I was able to bring him back to hotel in lovely indoor pool. Food very good in restaurant

Review 16:Noisy first thing in the morning being in the lower area of the hotel.

Review 17:I stayed in "the Backpacker's bedroom," which was good value for what I paid. I therefore got to use the hotel's amenities (swimming pool, sauna etc) at a very reasonable cost. Good continental style breakfast - lots of choices.

Review 18:Squeaking doors were a minor nuisance. Had to shower in the antechamber of the sauna and couldn't find a lightswitch, which was a bit odd.

Review 19:Good location, good wifi. Didn't care much for the pool and the breakfast - just needed a place to sleep - but they're there.

Review 20:I found the manager/owner to be very stand offish and only helped with a problem if you pushed him maybe it was because I had the 'backpacker room' with no bathroom. Had to use the pool shower but not easy when people were in pool.

Review 21:Large light room. Nice restaurant though the menu good be updated but OK if you like cheese.

Review 22:On arrival I was surprised to hear the manager refer to my room as the hikers room and that I only get what I paid for; I did book the room based in the price and knew before hand that it was a room and bed only. The manager was dismissive when I asked about parking my motor cycle outside the hotel and offered the use if the garage at €6. He was more interested in telling me what I didn't have and couldn't do. The room was as expected but I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone who rightly feels they would like to be treated as a guest.

Review 23:Location and access was good and was easy to find.

Review 24:- The noise of the avenue until late (with plugs, it's bearable) - not so clean around the pool.

Review 25:Excellent stay. Very helpful staff. Clean. basic but comfortable budget single room for 32 euros (Washing basin and toilets next to the room ; shower on the 1 st floor but still convenient). Good buffet breakfast (10 euros) 7 -10 am. Pleasant TV room with games and magazines. Convenient to go to Chamonix by (free) bus next door.

Review 26:Booked this hotel for a stop off on our way to Italy/Greece. It's location was perfect just off the main highway. The manager phoned us during the day to make sure we were all ok & check our arrival time. Comfortable and a good breakfast for 10 euros.

Review 27:Lukewarm reception by the owner, bar staff indifferent and unattentive in the evening. Couldn't be bothered to wipe the table down as you had a glass of wine.

Review 28:Spacious room with balcony Pool and sauna Good breakfast after French refuges.

Review 29:Shower leaked on floor and caused minor flood..., but otherwise good place.

Review 30:Location was good and an amazing view. Good breakfast and kids loved the pool.

Review 31:Evrey things!!!

Review 32:Very good!

Review 33:Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 34:Swimming pool could have been warmer.

Review 35:Very good value for money

Review 36:Rooms were a little outdated. Wifi could be improved.

Review 37:Great location for my purpose. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Review 38:The rooms were lovely with good views and the breakfast really good

Review 39:Staff at Reception were quite difficult to find on a few occasions by a number of guests.

Review 40:central location good food and drinks at realistic prices

Review 41:Did not respond to my email 10 days before my arrival.

Review 42:wifi would not connect.

Review 43:room size

Review 44:Bathroom/Toilet old. Corridor to the room very dark.

Review 45:Spacious room, cleanliness, location.

Review 46:The owner was very helpful and friendly. Good drying facilities for ski equipment. Would definitely stay again

Review 47:location, very good price for a room with shared bathroom (didnt have problem to take a shower by the pool), working wifi, staff

Review 48:Sauna, Shower, Pool, Stuff, Coffee, Budget Number Option

Review 49:Location and views were very good. Family room had a spacious living/dining/kitchen area and a closed in balcony with views of Mont Blanc.

Review 50:Hungry and couldn't be served until 7pm Then took till 8 to receive food ordered After walking TMB felt very disappointed

Review 51:Basic accommodation at a reasonable price.

Review 52:The staff and hotel were superb

Review 53:Amazing value.

Review 54:The wifi was difficult to login to and dropped out frequently

Review 55:Nice pool and breakfast

Review 56:Dirty, old, noisy. Lots of animal hair on the chairs, loads of dust between the double glazed windows (would not recommend opening the window!), stained toilet separe, stale smell in the room due to improper ventilation. There was no proper duvet/blanket cover (only a sheet folded over) and the blanket itself was really old and I wonder if it was washed between uses. The balcony furniture has long passed its life time. There is no soundproof between level 2 and 3 and could not close an eye on Saturday night due to upstairs guest having no sleep and walking around the room until 2 a.m(I am no light sleeper I can say- but you can hear everything from the attic rooms). For the price we paid (95 euros/night x 3 nights) it was unexpectedly poor.

Review 57:We stayed at this hotel 2 years before and then it was ok. Unfortunately it has degraded significantly since then.

Review 58:Not very welcoming staff, limited access to sauna.

Review 59:Room - spacious clean comfortable and w nice balcony, spectacular views, good breakfast. well located, well appointed

Review 60:The owner went above and beyond expectations in order to ensure I had a pleasant visit. Relaxed and laid-back compared to the hustle and bustle of Chamonix village. Warm atmosphere, friendly staff and good food - not to mention a great fireplace for aprés-ski relaxation!

Review 61:Breakfast is 10 Euros each a day and is average. Not much going on in Les Houches, you would need to go to Chamonix for nice restaurants and night life.

Review 62:Nice people. Has a swimming pool, table tennis, Xbox and pool table. Is next to a small ski slope (maybe 300m long) which is great for kids. The main cable car and gondola are 800m away. Worked well for 3 nights for me and my 13 year old son on his first boarding holiday.

Review 63:Front desk lacks greeting skills

Review 64:The pool is good The ski store is useful The rec rooms are available Loan of kitchen utensils helpful Parking easy

Review 65:Too noisy Wifi not working

Review 66:Breakfast convenient for 10 eur, for that money in the mountain you just have a coffee and one croissant. Staff from the bar was very friendly and food very nice. The room was big and the location very good, by only taking a 3 min bus you can ski

Review 67:Smell of chlorine from swimming pool in public areas, animals in dinning area (guest & owners)

Review 68:Staff were excellent, especially the owner, room was comfortable, bathroom excellent and clean

Review 69:Great hotel in central Les Houche. Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly in many ways. Full of french character! Stayed for two weeks and will be rebooking again for next year.

Review 70:Upon arrival on a Sunday night over the christmas period my son became sick. The manager/owner phoned the out-of-hours doctor for us and then personally drove us to the appointment, waited until we were finished and then drove us back to the hotel! He went way beyond the call of duty and we really appreciated his help, given that we were in a foreign country and could not speak the language. All of the staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful. I wish I could go back with a healthy child to fully appreciate all the services of the hotel and the surrounding location. There was a skiing and sledging area (great for young kids) right outside the hotel.

Review 71:Description on booking.com said it had a washing machine in the room - this is untrue - and the ones in the hotel are very expensive

Review 72:Reasonably priced, helpful staff at reception; nice big room; food in the restaurant was very good; close to the bus stop

Review 73:Beds were on the small side (not long enough) even for an average height man. Beer was a bit expensive.

Review 74:Traditional style family run hotel with good facilities.

Review 75:Room size was above average for the standards of the French Alps, decent shower, good size beds, bus stop very conveniently situated right infront of the hotel. Hotel restaurant fair but nothing spectacular.

Review 76:Well, there wasn't much we didn't like. If you know that dinner is not served until 19.15 then you can plan around that. (have dinner later, cook yourself in your own kitchen in your room or get a pizza from the small take-away up the road). Also make sure that you know about the pin code to enter the hotel after 10pm. But as said, that's all fine to plan around. We will come back!

Review 77:We stayed in Chris-Tal for 4 nights last week. The hotel was ideally located for our ski holiday with 2 young children: less then 100 meters away from a ski-rental shop as well as a bus stop that takes you to the main slopes of Les Houches. Also, and this worked out very nicely, there is a small municipal slope within a stone's throw from the hotel, which was great for skiing on the day of arrival and departure! note the free skiing after dark there on Thursdays! We made good use of the small indoor pool. It is deep, so make sure you always supervise your kids in there! We also made very good use of the table football (1euro a game) and the table tennis (free) in the games room. We did not use the XBox, but saw others who enjoyed that! The room / apartment was clean, warm and nice to get back to after a long day of skiing. Beds were comfortable and clean as well. Ski and boot room with boot-warmers all good! Fireplace in reception always providing a nice log-fire. Would we come back? Yes we would!

Review 78:as a family we were there for 3 days skiing and it was a bit far from the ski lift if didnt have a car

Review 79:hotel was very clean, staff were very friendly and helpful food was lovely. A really nice place to stay

Review 80:Quiet a long walk to ski lifts, need to get bus, but bus stop is veryclose to hotel.Remember this is Les Houches, not Chamonix, which is a 15 min bus ride away. But would recommend if you're happy with nice meal then bed!!

Review 81:Hotel very clean, breakfast fine. Perfect for our group booking, woulddefinitely stay again. The hotel owner even gave us a lift to the skilift in Les Houches. Excellent restaurants nearby. Will definitelystay again. The Kitsch Inn, excellent après ski.

Review 82:We've stayed 4yrs ago. The staff seemed helpful and friendlier this time round. The free bus stop is 100yds up the road for skiing which is good. I'd stay again.

Review 83:Stupidly expensive. We stayed with our teenage daughter for one nightenroute back to England from Tuscany. There were hairs in my bed, thepillows were rolls and the whole place looked like it needed a totalrefurb. Didn't stay for breakfast got out as soon as poss. Wouldn't havebeen so bad if we had paid less but it was €153 for a quadruple room, way too expensive for the location (not in chamonix) and the generalrundown feeling.

Review 84:The bathroom was clean

Review 85:Although very clean the interior is very dated and not aestheticallypleasing. The Management were unsympathetic when we highlighted a numberof problems and did not seem particularly interested in giving customersatisfaction. I feel they were taking advantage of the wonderfullocation of their hotel..

Review 86:Very good location with beautiful views of Mont Blanc.

Review 87:Great hotel. Friendly owners and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Free wifi which was a bonus. The only thing to mark it down was we booked as a self catering break so wrongly assumed we would have a small kitchen. Our fault though. Definately will go back next year. Georgy the dog was fabulous too :) Thank you for a lovely few days .

Review 88:The bar did shut rather early!

Review 89:The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. We were travelling as a group for the schoolboy skiing championships. The facilities were very good for 10-11 year olds and the food a nice balance being both children and adult friendly. Everything was very clean and well-looked after.

Review 90:Chris-Tal was a very friendly hotel; the rooms were spacious with great views of the mountains. The small pool and games room meant that we would consider bringing our family back. Well located for Les Houches town although a reasonable walk to the slopes so a car or bus is needed; we always take a car so this did not bother us. Hotel bar very pleasant but the restaurant menu is a bit limited. Would certainly stay here again - a short drive to Chamonix but more for your money.

Review 91:Family room with kitchen in the basement is not worth the money. Poorand dated. The other rooms are in much better shape, newly decorated andclean. Kettle in the room would be nice but not expected in France.

Review 92:The location of the hotel is great for beginners in winter sports, literally next to a ski lift, sledging slope and ice rink. We will goback certainly.

Review 93:The Chris-Tal hotel was a lovely small, family run hotel close tothe ski area of Les Houches. The food in the restaurant was good andthe swimming pool was great after a days skiing. The staff were allvery helpful.

Review 94:A good hotel with a family atmosphere and staff for whom nothing was toomuch effort. Rooms were clean and spacious. Food was excellent andbetter than at many of the other restaurants in the village. I woulddefinitely stay here again.

Review 95:On arrival staff covering reception not up to speed.

Review 96:All the facilities were set up to make a ski holiday work for you; -heated equipment room -bus stop -ample parking -sanu/pool -self cater or full restaurant -links with rental shops

Review 97:The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. The staff were pleasant and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome. The location for hiring ski equipment and catching the shuttle to the slopes was ideal and the skiing was excellent. View from the bedroom was scenic and the room was warm with a big comfortable bed.

Review 98:We stayed in one of the appartment rooms, which had a great amount of space and also good kitchen/ dining facilities, so we could look after ourselves. The pool was a big hit for our children after a day of skiing, as were the other facilities like table tennis and pool. Overall a good experience and I would definitely stay in the appartment room again.

Review 99:The manager was surly. Our room shared a glassed in balcony with thenext room who used theirs as a smoking area so might as well have smokedin our room. The next room were noisy at night The breakfast was veryordinary with vending machine cofee which was vile. The hotel is veryinconvenient for the ski lifts. We were at the anglo scottish cup andshould have got a discount but he refused because we had booked throughbooking.com

Review 100:all of it

Review 101:Rude owner Horrible location

Review 102:Fabulous, warm, comfy and welcoming. Brilliant breakfast as well.

Review 103:The friendly staff and beautiful location.

Review 104:Breakfast was expensive, also the restaurant

Review 105:Hotel was very clean, the room was big and the location very good

Review 106:I stayed in "the backpacker's room," which was an excellent value. I got to enjoy the hotel's amenities at a very reasonable cost.

Review 107:Meagre breakfast for €10.

Review 108:Comfortable room with balcony and wonderful views. Nice cosy bar area with roaring fire.

Review 109:The satellite TV did not receive English speaking programmes.

Review 110:Quiet and spacious rooms in a good location with marvellous views.

Review 111:Sauna Spacious room 4 km from chamonix 20 m to bus stop

Review 112:Too far from main ski lifts. Bar closed when owner wanted it to, not as advertised time.

Review 113:Comfortable room and beds. Lovely bar with open fire.
