Reviews for A La Villa Boucicaut

Review 1:Room very small Price of the room is excluding breakfast and I find this too high 11 € for the breakfast is a lot

Review 2:Close to the city center Nicely decorated Friendly staff

Review 3:not transparent pricing, and they tried to give me a different room than booked. I had to pay extra for the 3 person in a room intended for 3-5 persons

Review 4:very nice small hotel good location

Review 5:Quiet and freedom to come and go. Good security. So handy for walking to train station or visiting old town. There was a small mistake in reservation - staff fixed it quickly and pleasantly.

Review 6:While reasonably close to the centre we were tired, fairly late and made a bad choice of restaurant which was nearby.

Review 7:Ideal for our one night stop on journey to south. Hearty welcome on arrival. Small room which served its purpose with comfortable bed. Good shower. Breakfast entirely satisfactory

Review 8:The reception was supposed to open at 17.00 hrs. No one came. After about 1/2 hour I phoned the hotel, where I got the access number to the door - and could let other 3 guests in.

Review 9:Nice garden..

Review 10:Initially not given the room we booked. The hotel is rather quirky, it could be nice but there is no attention to detail; badly finished rooms. Our shower was in the room; no privacy if you are with a family of 5!

Review 11:Location: close to town centre and easy to reach from the motorway

Review 12:Breakfast is a little expensive - cheaper to take a short stroll into town to one of the many cafes/bistros.

Review 13:Friendly staff, nice building (old villa), modern and comfortable. Set well back from the road so quiet at night. Delightful small garden, ideal for relaxing on hot days.

Review 14:We had lovely inter-connecting rooms, with beautiful bathrooms. It was a perfect set up for us. The lady who runs Villa Boucicaut was very warm and welcoming and extremely helpful. I will definitely come again. Breakfast was nice, but being gluten and dairy free is always difficult in France. Really would have liked an egg!!!

Review 15:Very hot , stuffy small room. Although our visit was in July , more effort should be made to ensure that room temperature is comfortable.

Review 16:Interesting boutique hotel. Welcoming staff

Review 17:Long day travelling but unable to use tea and coffee facilities as no instructions. Very poor lighting in public area. As it was a Sunday evening no staff available in reception to help.

Review 18:Very unusual hotel, spotlessly clean, run by people who really seem to care about their guests. Walking distance of attractive city of Chalon sur Saone. Several cafes and boulangeries within a few minutes walk. Sweet cat wandering about. Secure parking. Chilled water machine available.

Review 19:Could not check in until 5pm. Reception did not speak any English. Absolutely had to vacate room by 11am for cleaning.

Review 20:Bathroom was very nice. Location walking distance from train station.

Review 21:bedroom was a little small. Did not understand why you had to pay extra for parking. Locastion- a fair walk to village centre

Review 22:staff was very friendly and breakfast excellent

Review 23:The wifi didn't work in the cottage, which was a pity, and the room was cute, but a bit small for a family room. The bathroom was a bit inconvenient with the shower/bath viewing directly on to the bedroom with a glass panel, then a separate toilet/handbasin area.. would have been fine as a double room on it's own.

Review 24:We liked the hotel very much. It's a small boutique hotel, close to the main access road from the motorway, and 10 minutes walk from the centre. We stayed in the cottage in the small patio garden, which was like a Nordic cabin, very cosy and attractively furnished. There's a private parking area just outside, and they welcomed us with our dog, making our stay very pleasant.

Review 25:Everything was fine.Access to town was easy and the location of the property ensured a quiet night`s sleep.

Review 26:The luxurious feel of the property and wonderful food along with helpful staff guaranteed a pleasant stay.

Review 27:Location is about 20 minutes walk walk away from the old town, which was a bit of a dtruggle after an excellent hearty dinner at a local restaurant in the old town.

Review 28:Good quality room, with good facilities. They have a family hose at the back, with 4 bedrooms in a chalet style residence. Helpfull staff, polite and friendly.

Review 29:breakfast and parking was an extra cost, so made the nights stay very expensive. breakfast wasn't great so not value for money in our opinion.

Review 30:lovely room, very helpful and friendly staff. we called to say that we had been held up so going to arrive later than scheduled, the staff were extremely helpful and put our mind at rest.

Review 31:We arrived at 4.00pm after a long drive, the reception was not manned until 5.00pm

Review 32:Quirky decor, charming staff, good breakfast. Refreshingly different from the usual French chain hotel.

Review 33:Distance from the centre and the main restaurants.

Review 34:The location was difficult to find but once found it was a quaint little place off the beaten track and an interesting room and breakfast room

Review 35:- The reception opens only at 5pm. Although this is clearly mentioned, it is a bit annoying and you need to plan your arrival accordingly (the hotel is closed and you can't even leave your luggage)

Review 36:- Beautiful room, lovely decorated and very clean. Lovely personal (and cat). Just a few minutes walk to the town centre.

Review 37:Decor a bit eccentric, didn't look like great area and a bit of a walk into town.

Review 38:Friendly staff and good breakfast. Clean and good free parking on site. Okay as an overnight enroute through France.

Review 39:Very small double room.

Review 40:Good location, friendly staff, quirkiness.

Review 41:We loved this hotel! The young man was so very personable and helpful! The room was lovely and quiet and the location was so easy and convenient!

Review 42:Very quirky hotel in walking distance of the river The staff were very friendly and helpful The room was very nice and comfortable

Review 43:Nicely decorated and comfortable room. Not too far away from the city center.

Review 44:Close to Station

Review 45:We had no wifi from our room which was inconvenient.

Review 46:Staff were helpful and friendly, location was central.

Review 47:Being picky now but the coiled hairdryer cable was dusty.

Review 48:Location, English speaking,parking, staff.

Review 49:The bed was small.

Review 50:Relaxing, clean and friendly

Review 51:Room warm, stuffy due to high temp in chalon sur soane

Review 52:Nice room.very helpful.off main street.nice garden patio

Review 53:Large, clean room; hotel is set back from the street so is quiet

Review 54:Staff was excellent and even arranged for cab to port for us. Their cat was very friendly and cute bunny in yard.

Review 55:An ideal friendly hotel

Review 56:Very enjoyable arrival and all information needed on a late Sunday evening.

Review 57:nothing

Review 58:beautifully and imaginatively furnished, very comfortable, good breakfast and all within few minutes walk of the town centre

Review 59:Just out of the centre of town so a bit of a trek on foot but worth it.

Review 60:Comfortable room, very nicely decorated hotel, very stylish.

Review 61:We booked a Family Room but the lady at the reception gave us a double room instead saying that we should have been more people for it. That was not true since the booking deal specified that we would get a Family Room even if we were 2 people. On the next day she wasn't even there and charged for a breakfast that we never asked. The cleaning lady gave us a wrong bill and so we asked for the correct bill to be emailed to us. It took more than a week to receive it after numerous emails in which the lady was kind of rude. The location was disappointing, there was nothing to see near by and the place looked sketchy at night. I would not recommend this place.

Review 62:Our double room was nice although we were promised a Family room as a deal. The hotel was clean and cozy.

Review 63:Nothing.

Review 64:I love the eclectic decoration and the comfy bed and the relaxed atmosphere and it is well located for the town and eating out. The breakfast was good too..

Review 65:Check-in is allowed from 5 pm only and check-out is mandatory at 10am. Although you book a room including breakfast, you will be explained that there are two different breakfast types (typically frenchy): the free one that you are taking standing in the lobby is a coffee and one (yesterday) muffin (and you have to wait 5 minutes for the orange juice), the normal breakfast that you are taking in a small brakfast room on very small tables for which you will be charged about 9 Euros. If breakfast is important to you take this into account or choose another place.

Review 66:New guesthaus well organized and cleaned. Not too far away from center and from the train station. Need a cab anyway. Well decorated if you like the anglo-saxon kitsch.

Review 67:Nothing

Review 68:Although this hotel does not have a restaurant for evening meals, it is within ten minutes walk of the city centre. The hotel could be described as eclecticly furnished! Lovely bedroom and bathroom. Really friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was very good. Our three night stay was very relaxing. An ideal location for a holiday or stop off on your way to the south of France. Loved this place!

Review 69:The cost of the break fast was expensive at 11e per person. The car park was a bit tight and if you were unlucky you could well get boxed in.

Review 70:The bedroom was probably the nicest we have stayed in for this type of accommodation in |France

Review 71:Different room on return journey (near reception downstairs) wasnot quiet. No restaurant - meant we had to walk into Chalon to get a meal (it was raining hard) and we were advised that we risked losing the car-parking space if we drove, as the hotel was full. This was despite the hotel being advertised as having parking which you don't need to book

Review 72:Room (upstairs) when we stayed on journey out was very quiet.Greeting was very friendly. Beds were very comfortable.

Review 73:This is a personal choice but there could have been more on choice at breakfast.

Review 74:The staff were very helpful and friendly. After being in the car all day the accommodation was perfect. Clean and comfortable.

Review 75:Just a few minutes walk from the town centre and train station.Comfortable and homely place with excellent staff (switched toenglish after first attempt at pronouncing a french word and wereextremely helpful).

Review 76:Very smart location, kind reception, comfortable beds

Review 77:The staff, pet friendly and parking

Review 78:Very pleasant and quirky decor with a warm welcome from madame. Very comfortable beds!

Review 79:Breakfast was expensive for what was on offer

Review 80:Stylish, comfortable and quiet

Review 81:No privacy in the rooms and you can hear everything going on next door and in the courtyard. No air-conditioning

Review 82:Staff was great, very helpful.

Review 83:Friendly staff and good location

Review 84:Not a good choice of restaurants in the area.

Review 85:Very nicely decorated. Pleasant staff.

Review 86:No fan or air conditioning

Review 87:Owners very friendly and helpful. Tea available in hall. Room nice size with jacuzzi bath. Breakfast extra but good.

Review 88:The art and decorations are wonderful. I associated to a art exhibition. Very nice.

Review 89:No dinner was available. Charge for parking.

Review 90:Friendly atmosphere...pets are welcome at no extra charge.
