Reviews for Best Western Prince de Galles

Review 1:Not a good matress in room 215. The hotel was too warm when we arrived on thursday 12th november but the clim must have been regulated later on because it got better on friday.

Review 2:Everything especially breakfast at the terrasse. The room (215) was spacious and decorated with lots of taste. The staff was very kind.

Review 3:In a trip thst had taken me from Greece to Menton by car i had alresdy stayed at several hotels, some excellent. However, this was by far the best. It was spotlessly clean, the facilities were fantastic, the staff were extremely well trained, and the location was perfect. The view of thr sea from the room was lovely.

Review 4:I was disappointed to be given a room on the first floor above the rubbish bins when I had requested a higher one; possibly this was because I couldn't arrive until 21.30 (as the hotel knew in advance, from Aug.) or was it because I was a solo traveller? The steps up to the reception on both sides were difficult.

Review 5:It was very well placed for the things I wanted to do in W Menton. And my room was very good for identifying buses into and out of town.

Review 6:Unsure of breakfast, it wasn't awful it just wasn't made clear if it was unlimited or not. Drinks at the bar were expensive.

Review 7:The sea view was amazing. The staff were friendly & helpful. The food and drinks in the restaurant attached were lovely but expensive.

Review 8:A bit of a hike from the train station, though the walk along the waterfront is lovely! not very close to restaurants.

Review 9:Amazing views and hotel comfort.

Review 10:Room was too hot even when we turned the heating off. Hotel Restaurant was overpriced and food very basic. Would not recommend the restaurant but would recommend the Hotel.

Review 11:Very clean, beautiful view, great setting.

Review 12:our room was facing the mountain. The only issue with that is that, the boulevard is very busy and noisy. We had to keep the patio door closed almost all the time.

Review 13:the hotel is very nice and the staff very helpful.

Review 14:Noisy road between the hotel and the seafront, but very efficient double glazing in the bedroom.

Review 15:Excellent food in the hotel restaurant. Recently refurbished room with modern bathroom (but no bath), and balcony with sea view.

Review 16:Very friendly and helpful personal. Clean and comfortable room. Bus stop near Hotel very cheap. Restaurant served delicious food. Would definitely stay here again. We had a very pleasant 4 nights here.

Review 17:Impressive stay at a seaside town with lots of history. Excellent reception staff--special thanks to Line and Jean Baptiste who try to solve every problem presented to them. Attached restaurant is wonderful. Great access to beach.

Review 18:Hotel was much too far out of the centre of the resort and distance from railway station, even though it was across the road from the sea.

Review 19:Hotel was very clean and modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had everything we wanted.

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:Very pleasant and helpful staff. Perfect location over looking the sea. We were able to park our motorbike in the grounds which were locked up at night. Able to borrow towels for the beach.

Review 22:Cooler was in a cupboard which meant it would not cool any items as there was no circulation of air. When I removed it from the cupboard, it worked perfectly. Just hope the staff accept the advice and remove all coolers from cupboards.

Review 23:The location and the room was very good with fantastic a sea view and the breakfast is second to none

Review 24:Assigned room (409) had a balcony with only partial sea view that was just above the restaurant terrace without any privacy from diners. Essentially, this room should not be rated at the same price as other sea view rooms on higher floors.

Review 25:Pleasant staff, proximity to beach, quite spacious room, easy access by airport bus from Nice

Review 26:Would have liked to be a little nearer to the centre of Menton. It was quite a distance to walk to restaurants.

Review 27:Rooms had been refurbished. Modern bathrooms

Review 28:Our French is very poor and the night staff had real trouble understanding us The Wi Fi kept cutting out so it was frustrating trying to communicate with family at home

Review 29:Gorgeous view of Cote D'Azure The woman I think her name was Lil at the day reception was very very helpful. She arranged for a taxi to take us to Nice and helped me file a lost claim for my knapsack with the SNF train. Even got me a claim number.

Review 30:The only drag that I can mention is about parking BUT that should not be a deterrent as parking is available for a few Euro per day if needed.

Review 31:Great, and I mean GREAT staff!

Review 32:We only stayed there for one night but it was very good! The bedrooms are beautiful and very comfortable, it's right on the beach and the staff were very nice. I don't know if this one is good or bad(For me good), the hotel is on the beach, however you have to walk around 15 minutes to get to the area on the beach with the restaurants.

Review 33:Hotel is located along the boulevard overlooking the Mediterranean. Noisy scooters at times, but outside control of hotel management. Friendly helpful and multilingual staff. Express bus to Nice airport opposite hotel entrance. Pleasant restaurant on terrace.

Review 34:Car parking is an issue. There is no valid parking areas or pre-booked options on the site as promised in description. Some 5 to 6 places in front of the hotel constatly packed. Not much help from front desk also.

Review 35:Location is great, facilities and rooms are up to date. Breakfast was really good by any means. Good views if you have seaside rooms. Also great garden resto & terrace. Reasonably priced.

Review 36:Extremely bad situation with parking. Strange to see nowadays this hotel offers single room at such a high price without breakfast, which costs peanuts actually.....

Review 37:Very clean hotel with nice interior, recently made renovation.

Review 38:A room with extra bed is just a bit to small, but that didn't much bother us since we stayed just one night. Few more nights, and room would probably start to be unconfortable...

Review 39:Very nice place to begining journey through French riviera. A room view to sea is priceless, and if you like to walk, you can start it just couple of meters from hotel. Parking is just 100 meters away.

Review 40:Rather phlegmatic bar and wait staff. Did not feel particularly welcome. Seemed to be given "typical" French treatment of foreigners without any reason for it. We were not "ugly Americans"! No mention of availability of beach towels. Very cramped room. Asked for water view and got mostly view of palm tree. Beach very rocky and slippery - difficult steps down to beach.

Review 41:location

Review 42:Parking around the hotel is for frere but if you don not find a place you need to go to a public parking and pay.

Review 43:Location is close to the center and on the cost. Nwe look nice room is well equiped and refurnished

Review 44:The room was very small for 4 adults and one bed was a folding ' put me up' which was small and uncomfortable.

Review 45:Being able to walk across the street to the sea

Review 46:Hotel location was good, free parking on the street outside, room and bathroom were very nice and clean. Quick and easy check in / out, the perfect overnight hotel room.

Review 47:We are pensioners, and take a great deal of trouble to ensure that the places we visit are just right for us. On this occasion, we were horribly let down. We paid extra to book a room overlooking the sea, having been impressed with so many gorgeous photographs showing open windows and a beguiling view of the Mediterranean. Just lovely! Little did we know that we had been mis-led. We were placed in Room 2 on the ground floor, and although we were on the sea-side of the building, our view was of the garden and a 200 foot tree outside our window. I pleaded with reception for a change of room, but was met by stony hearts and implacable wills. Of course, should I wish to pay more, they could arrange something....? And so, the pictures on the website bore no relationship with the room we were allocated. As if to prove the point, now that I have returned home, there was an e-mail in my spam box confirming my description of the problem. It would appear that they have this as a regular problem, and to mitigate their responsibility, they let you know up-front, there is no sea view. In that case, they should not mis-represent their product by offering it as such. On top of that, they took over half the costs within two days of the booking. I would have thought that the ground floor rooms should be charged at the lower rate, (mountain side), if indeed the sea was not visible. Maybe they should reconsider....?

Review 48:Rooms and fitments were of a high standard, and the bathroom was modern and beautiful.

Review 49:Balcony was very narrow but views were stunning.

Review 50:Very good hotel in a good location. Views from balcony were excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast which could be taken on the terrace or in air conditioned room. Evening meals in the outdoor restaurant were also excellent. Well worth the price.

Review 51:Would be nice to have a continental breakfast included in the price.

Review 52:lovely hotel, very clean, helpful staff, everything you need is either in the room or available in reception . We had a nice big room with a balcony.Would definitely stay again.

Review 53:The TV lost signal on BBC unfortunately, and the wifi could have been better.

Review 54:The rooms have been renovated and are very comfortable and ours had great air conditioning. All rooms faced the sea which was great.

Review 55:Isolated from town, restaurants and beaches with long walk required.Staff was not helpful and males are stuck in the Middle Ages when itcomes to women. If that wasn't disappointing enough, forgetrequests on booking.com! Booked ocean front with balcony and asked forhigh floor and quiet room. Was stuck on lobby level overlooking outdoorportions of restaurant and lobby with no privacy and limited views frombalcony, along with near constant noise from both including setting upand clearing even when restaurant was closed. While the building ischarming and the location could be overlooked, the attitude of thestaff and courtesy of the management in accommodatingpreferences/requests cannot.

Review 56:One particular female staff at the desk was rude. Rest of the staff very courteous. Three-bed room was small for three adults.

Review 57:Location, availability of parking, Cleanliness.

Review 58:The staff put our lives in danger as we had no means of returning fromMonte Carlo back to the hotel in the early hours of the morning. Wetried to order a taxi in Monte Carlo but there were none available. Thehotel refused to book a taxi stating that this was "not possiblefrom France" (which was not true since they had booked a taxioutbound), so we had to hitch with two vehicles to return to the hotel.Do not consider staying here if you plan on visiting Monte Carlo in theevening without your own transport or expect the staff to care aboutyour safety, because they simply do not.

Review 59:The bedroom, once we were able to go back to it after the two hours ittook to get back to the hotel.

Review 60:Parking in all the towns along the French Riviera is not easy. Book hotel parking as soon as you make a reservation. There is 24 hr garage parking in the town centre but that is a 15 minute walk from the hotel.

Review 61:The hotel was recently-refurbished to a very high standard and made an excellent base for a stay in the area

Review 62:Is a bit far from both Menton and Carnoles stations if you are walking. Taxi was ~15 euros

Review 63:Best hotel on my trip. A beach facing room, with balcony, fridge and courtesy tray to make that essential cup of tea.

Review 64:Noisy room from kitchen next door. When mentioning this on check-out, the reception told us we should've booked earlier than a week ago, I told him we'd booked 3 months ago to which he replied you should've booked 4 months ago then! We also had to pay for drinking water in our room on the second night. Really not worth the money.

Review 65:Location and on a bus route into Monte Carlo which was 25mins away. Lots of restaurants close by.

Review 66:Our room was very close to the bar and reception. Sometimes the staff were very noisy early in the morning.. 5.30...waking us up by banging around and talking loudly.

Review 67:Loved the decor and cleanliness. Most of the staff were really helpful. Great location too.

Review 68:We arrived at 4, having said we'd arrive 3-4 and the room wasn't ready. Dark brown fitted carpet, & plastic furniture in the bedroom. The breakfast for 12.50€ was limited, and the space limited & crowded.

Review 69:The location, between the sea and the park is lovely. Helpful and friendly staff. The bed and the bathroom were perfectly clean & comfortable.

Review 70:The wifi didn't work too well and the breakfast was a little overpriced for what was offered.

Review 71:The hotel had a re-fit in 2013, so is clean and nicely decorated, with new fittings throughout. An excellent place to stay, right on the beachfront !

Review 72:Bathroom might need a renovation.

Review 73:Great location in sweet Menton next to the train station (5 mins walk), the staff is very helpfull and knoledgeable of everything, provided me maps of everything. Excellent Breakfast for a 3 star hotel.

Review 74:The only real downside is that it is a long walk into Menton town, at least twenty minutes, so if you have mobility issues this will really effect you. Continental breakfast is also expensive at 12.5 euros.

Review 75:Stayed here before, and were glad to return particularly after hearing the rooms have been refurbished. This hotel is in a great location, overlooking the sea, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are incredibly helpful. Le Petit Prince restaurant on site is superb, 2 Michelin star chef!!

Review 76:Lack of noise insulation between rooms. Could hear everything next door. Restaurant downstairs very slow with rather snobbish waiters.

Review 77:I loved the hotel, its location and the personnel.

Review 78:We reserved a ocean view paying extra money but since it was the 1st floor we didn't enjoy the view at all... For what I paid, I don't think it was worth to stay in this hotel. It's pretty old too..

Review 79:Personnel. They were very helpful.

Review 80:no parking available, no elevator from outside to the lobby which is not very convenient for people with cases and child

Review 81:view, modern rooms, wifi gratuit, close to the town, sea front

Review 82:Wifi worked very slowly if at all. Laundy service took 5 days, but no one informed us that on the weekend nothing moves on.

Review 83:Nice renovated room and balcony to sea. Breakfast OK. Most people at the reception friendly.

Review 84:My room (208) was rather small, but others are larger. Steep stairs to access the hotel.

Review 85:Attractive building, with excellent sea views from the balconies and first-class service throughout my stay.

Review 86:Internet, despite the technicians working on it while we were there, was still not optimal in the rooms on the top floor. We had to go in the lobby for a good connexion. The parking can be a challenge.

Review 87:We liked the view and the quality of the hotel. The breakfast was nice, especially taken on the patio looking at the sea. The receptionist was very helpful.

Review 88:Room too small: no place for two people to sit except on beds: no mini bar: hotel signage appalling - Best Western should take precedence over Prince de Galles but only had very small Best Western signs.

Review 89:Comfort of beds, friendly staff, Wi-Fi access

Review 90:The restaurant for dinner was not good at all. The service was terrible. The food I could not eat. I ordered the mackerel and it was not good at all.

Review 91:The room was very nice and clean. TV worked well, wifi was great. Bed was very comfortable.

Review 92:They've carved this place up for midget princes. The Deluxe room with balcony was the smallest room I've ever stayed in, including tiny digs in NYC. We had to get ver imaginative to fit both suitcases. The Internet was next to useless.

Review 93:The bed was very comfortable, the linens superior. The small balcony overlooking the sea was pleasant, despite constant traffic on the main strip between hotel and sea. The breakfast was fine, as was the staff.

Review 94:noisy roads on front and back of the hotel

Review 95:good location clean and spotless rooms great view of the sea good attached restaurant friendly and efficient staff

Review 96:a) far from centre... good 20 minutes walk. Hire a bike b) between two roads as are all the beach hotels. The sea side road quietens at night: the other road very noisy which means you can't open the window c)air con poor..... in October! d)rooms are very small .. check size carefully

Review 97:a) Staff b) food esp. restaurant c) opposite sea (but not beach) d) general ambience was welcoming e) airport bus stops almost outside f) other bus routes nearby g)rooms furnished nicely ..good quality as is all hotel

Review 98:Couldn't leave the windows open at night because of traffic noise.

Review 99:The staff were helpful and efficient, the room was clean and comfortable with a good view over the sea. The Little Prince Restaurant was the highlight of our stay in Menton, absolutely superb food and excellent service at a reasonable price.

Review 100:Size of room quite small for a superior double room. Disappointed with the restaurant of the hotel. It closes at 1. 30 for lunch....we were there at 2 pm and the waitress advise us to go to another place...

Review 101:Room was refurbished. Nice colours and quite functional. Staff at the reception very helpful.

Review 102:Very noisy if you leave the balcony doors open, they need a few speed bumps to slow the cars/motorcycles down.

Review 103:Great view from balcony of the sea, clean room, modern bathroom, comfortable room, staff very helpful, location away from busy downtown, free parking close to entrance, good air conditioning.

Review 104:Parking facilities, although booked was not available and public parking too far away. access difficult for anyone with partial or any disability.

Review 105:Quiet comfortable Room

Review 106:People smoking on the balcony next door, meant we spent more time with French doors closed and air con on that we would have preferred. Well you did ask! As non smokers are now in the majority, if real non smoking floor was offered it would influence our choice of hotel in future.

Review 107:View, friendly helpful staff and management, great breakfast

Review 108:Room a little small, difficult to deal with 2 suitcases and assorted clutter. Having booked many months in advance were disappointed not to have a balcony, despite the fact that it was the same price. Of the 10 hotels we stayed in on our driving holiday this was the smallest and most expensive room.

Review 109:The view. The food. The staff. In a fantastic town we know well. Excellent menu, beautifully prepared food.

Review 110:Not good enough to be a part of BW group hotel. The room was very small, however it was clean and brand new but the bed sheets were not changed in 3 days. As well as the internet connection failed all the time.

Review 111:Location is quite good, it was just 15 min walk from the city center, 5 min walk bus station and 20 min walk from railway station. The reception stuff were very kind and helpful. Was surprise to find that they are talking in multilanguages (english/italian).

Review 112:A very small issue with the cooler in the room not cooling properly

Review 113:The room was clean and air conditioning responded instantly to resetting temp. Had a great sea view and watched the sun rise over the sea. Beautiful ! Breakfast was very good and location was just perfect. Great blackout curtains and soundproof room. We will definitely be back next year:)

Review 114:Adequate hanging space but Difficult to unpack as no drawers or shelves for things that do not hang!!

Review 115:Good room and comfortable bed. Very friendly and helpful staff and a great breakfast to set you up for the day. Lovely to have sea view.

Review 116:There was nothing which I didn't like, the lift is small and slow but this is typical of an old establishment which has been tastefully renovated. Do I need a fast lift on holiday - I think not.

Review 117:Quiet location and the air-con worked well. Excellent dinner in garden restaurant with perfect service.

Review 118:Road in front is very noisy. Doors are soundproofed but nice to have them open to balcony. No kettle in room. Parking not free. And a good 5 mins walk away - secure, but a real pain with bags.

Review 119:Fabulous views across the sea. Balcony rooms advised. Small but perfectly formed rooms. Fabulous double shower. staff very helpful short stroll to city centre

Review 120:Limited parking space, so if you don't reserve in advance you will have problem finding a free spot. Instead of minibar, the rooms are equipped with a tiny fridge. Unfortunately too small to fit a wine bottle standing.

Review 121:The location is perfect. It is just 15 minutes from the heart of the Old Town, so you have a nice quiet sleep, still being not far away from the center. Rooms are clean and looks like were recently renovated. Staff is vey helpful. Nice views.

Review 122:parking was at front of Hotel for Motorcycles, Although gates were located at 00:00.

Review 123:Nice location, Friendly staff and clean rooms, Express breakfast was decent and enough to get you going in the morning.

Review 124:A kettle and some cups in the room would have been nice.

Review 125:Everything! We love this hotel and were delighted to stay again this year. It is a fantastic location, just across from the sea and about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Menton.

Review 126:I have stayed in many hotels. I pointed my concerns at the time and went to the trouble to writing to the manager but the response was unsatisfactory so I comment as follows: 1. Attitude of reception on our arrival. 2. Card payment taken before arrival which meant that I could not pay by cash or another card (in Booking it clearly states that the card is for reservation only). 3. Contrary to what is understood from the website, there is only very limited onsite parking for a few cars. I did not want to leave my car in the road nor take it inconveniently all the way to their chargeable parking site nor pay for parking, then carry luggage and children back to the hotel. This is really silly. When I read free onsite parking then it should mean that I can park my car safely on the hotel grounds which are next to the hotel. A receptionist said that no hotel can cater for parking for everybody. This is not true and the statement in Booking is very misleading. 4. The room was not fit for four people. Beds should be beds not a fold-down chair and nor a silly uncomfortable camp bed. This was also ridiculous. I slept in the latter but did not sleep all night as it was so uncomfortable. Space was extremely limited in the room, I hit my head on a light walking around the furniture. There were no bed sheets. One of the hotel personnel came with sheets at 11pm but didn't have enough and came back later. I expect an appropriate room with proper beds not Youth Hostel style accommodation!

Review 127:The restaurant opposite that has no connection to this hotel/hostel.

Review 128:Bathroom needs modernising, wifi kept disconnecting

Review 129:Good location, outside of town but within walking (flat / level) distance of restaurants, bars & town centre - stroll beside the sea. We had a triple room with sea view & terrace which was on ground floor alongside hotel bar / breakfast area. We were initially worried it would be noisy & not very private but this was not the case. We really enjoyed our stay & spent many hours sitting watching the world walk past! Road is a bit noisy, especially the scooters but we soon got used to it & at night with doors/windows closed we couldn't hear any outside noise. Very large room, bathroom large & a bit dated ( shower in bath etc). Overall a good base for a holiday in Menton.

Review 130:Very friendly welcome and our rooms were ready even though we were early for check in time. Good breakfasts. fabulous view, nice lounge area, helpful staff on front desk. All in all a very pleasant hotel.

Review 131:Our room was really overpriced! We paid nearly 200 Euro (with booking 2 month in advance, breakfast excluded!). In the result the room was old-fashioned, shabby and it was quite scaring looking at the ceiling in the bathroom. There was a sea view, as promised, but since the family room is on the ground floor, the view was to the hotel restaurant and noisy road.

Review 132:I liked the attitude of the staff (except one of the receptionist who coul dno ttell us where the Garavan train station in the city). Friendly and welcoming people, nice common area

Review 133:Parking is difficult.

Review 134:Nice view of ocean (if you get that side), great furniture and bathroom, nice staff, good breakfast option, nice attached restaurant, dark window curtains.

Review 135:There was nothing to dislike

Review 136:We had a room with wonderful sea views which was the most perfect way to enjoy our morning cuppa and afternoon glass of wine. The staff were excellent and arranged airport transfers for us. The rooms have been recently refurbished and have a beautiful contemporary feel set within a traditional exterior. WiFi was easily to use. The hotel was very clean and tidy. We will be back

Review 137:Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely view from balcony. Little fridge in room - so handy to keep a bottle of water and some fruit nice and cool. Private beach across the road. (Special rate for guests) The handiness of the hotel for the buses

Review 138:The fire alarm at 6.00am!!!! But it proved it worked so another plus for the hotel.

Review 139:The hotel staff, very welcoming, friendly and informative. Wish we had used their knowledge rather than that of the Tourist Information Office. Lovely location, although out of the town very easy to access all places of interest.

Review 140:Not great value for money. Our twin room was very small and for the price I would have hoped breakfast to have been included.

Review 141:Great staff, clean hotel in a great location and the wifi is easy to use. A really nice hotel.
