Reviews for Les Campanules
Review 1:Wi-fi, although freely available, wasn't great in the room. The restaurant, although the food was good, had a limited menu (possibly because it was a Sunday) and I thought it was pretty expensive, even for a hotel restaurant (and this is from an ex-hotel manager!).
Review 2:The staff were very helpful, we arrived 4 hours before check-in and were found a room immediately. The shower was amazing, one of the best in any hotel I've ever stayed in and must be great after a day on the slopes. The food in the restaurant was good.
Review 3:Too secluded without a car, although there was a train to Chamonix, but the uphill return with cold weather is terrible. Internet very unstable and at night very difficult to get through
Review 4:The overall public space was comfortable and food (breakfast and dinner) was very well made - although for dinner it was mandatory to book in advance...
Review 5:Lovely hotel...rooms bit small but we didnt spend a lot of time in the room. Might be nice to offer shuttle service to and from station even for a tariff. Would be nice to offer either a afternoon trip...after 5... to the carrefour in les Houches...or a service where one can order groceries or bread from carrefour and then it gets delivered to hotel or the shuttle picks orders up once a day for guests. Food was awesome, leasure area was pleasant and lovely decorated, maybe another pooltable might be an idea. The manager and all staff were awesome and very friendly, always at hand with advice and a little chat. Really made us feel at home!
Review 6:Sauna was charged
Review 7:Station was close where we got train to Chamonix and Aiguille di Midi. Shuttle service to rental shop in les Houches and le Prarion. View from room was fantastic.
Review 8:Its good location if you travel by car. If not then it needs a bit of walking uphill
Review 9:Absolutely amazing view on mountains! Mont Blanc massif as well as Aguille du midi are seen from your balcony. Easy ro reach by car. Very cozy and elegant. Pets are allowed. Great atmospere
Review 10:I think it's too bad that the restaurant close at 8:30 pm and the menu could be a little bit more authentic
Review 11:The sauna, the bedroom with the view, the hotel very cosy
Review 12:We had real difficulty finding the hotel and suggest a more detailed map/instructions on website - but worth the effort.
Review 13:We were made to feel especially welcome by Vincent - he was the perfect host, answered all our questions, anticipated what we wanted and really made our stay. View from our room was spectacular, and lounge facilities great. We'd go back in a flash!
Review 14:We were disappointed that on arrival there were no restaurant facilities, and we had to go into Chamonix for dinner, following a very long drive from Lake Garda, Italy.
Review 15:The hotel was a true experience, the photography around the chalet was amazing. The hotel was beautifully decorated, very clean and our welcome was excellent. What a fantastic view of Mont Blanc.
Review 16:Flooring looked a little "tired" especially by the entrances to the bathroom and toilet although it was still nice and clean.
Review 17:Amazing location, a very practical family room with plenty of storage space and with a fantastic view of Mont Blanc - wow! Very friendly staff, made us feel very welcome, seperate lounge with dining tables where we were able to eat our own food. Lounge and bar areas extremely warm, comfortable and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. Only a very short drive to Chamonix where there are lots of bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from and to suit all budgets. Bed comfortable, bathroom clean and with everything you need.
Review 18:Some areas needed repair. Eg balconies.
Review 19:Location. Fabulous views of Mont Blanc. Friendly staff. Restaurant was lovely. Relaxed atmosphere, quiet location.
Review 20:It was amazing to stay in this hotel, but we spent in it only two nights. In the bar I ordered a cup of coffee when we arrived so late ~22:00. There was a tasty breakfast with a view of Mont-Blanc. Chamonix is not far away.
Review 21:Les Houches is a bit desolate, especially compared to other more charming mountain towns nearby (Chamonix, Argentière). But the hotel is located only 20 minutes by train or bus from Chamonix, so not too much of a problem.
Review 22:Amazing view from the room. Spend a bit extra and book the Mt. Blanc side - it's worth it! Booked a wonderful massage. Masseuse had to cancel on the day we first booked, but rescheduled for the next day without problems. A lovely facility with a kind host. We would go back.
Review 23:The family room was a bit functional and like a dormitory. A bit tatty but clean and comfortable.
Review 24:The communal areas are beautifully furnished and comfortable. And the room had a view like no other when the cloud lifted.
Review 25:Spider webs in the room; No hair dryer in the room (had to walk to the reception with wet hair to get one); Staff (did not apologize for our inconveniences, did not try to make it up); SPA is available for extra charge (25EUR/hour). This was not mentioned in the reservation; Rooms on 5th floor are not accessible by elevator - not suitable for people with mobility problems; Room facing forest side had ventilation issues - the window was too high to reach for opening;
Review 26:Good location; Nice view from rooms facing TMB side; Breakfast worth extra charge.
Review 27:Bad pillows giving you the felling of sleeping with your head on a bag of potatoes. Mattresses too soft for my taste
Review 28:Nice location with great view to the Aiguille du Midi mountain. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff. A little bit overpriced for what it offers but still affordable compared to other hotels in Chamonix.
Review 29:Our room was on the top floor in the eaves of the roof. The lift stopped one floor below, so had a flight of stairs to negotiate. The only window was a skylight, so the only view was of the sky. The bed was wedged into a corner, so you have to climb over each other to get in and out. Bathroom was basic. No air on, so hot during summer (when we were there) which meant the skylight window had to be opened to provide fresh air.
Review 30:Nice views of the mountains from the breakfast terrace
Review 31:Quite expensive for what you get, small room, bathroom was in need of refurbishment.
Review 32:Lovely staff, beautiful location, very pet friendly. We visited in summer, but I expect this is very cosy in winter.
Review 33:A bit isolated from other facilities like shops if you have no transport.
Review 34:The views were spectacular and the hotel tastefully decorated and the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Review 35:Shabby decoration in rooms. Strong smell of drains from toilet and shower room. Dangerous windows opening into middle of room which you can easily walk into - right at child head height - are the only way to get any air into the room - stuffy, poorly ventilated. Very uncomforatable bed. Breakfast not great - croissants overcooked. This hotel is an overpriced throwback to the 1970's. Downstairs decoration is fine, but rooms are uncomfortable, stuffy and shabby. The smell from the shower room and toilet is appalling and mainly due to the unbelievably poor ventilation and dampness. Significantly verpriced.
Review 36:Location was OK, with fair views of Mont Blanc. Need a car to get there
Review 37:A bit old fashioned rooms. A bit off the usual path, need a car or be able to walk for a bit to reach it.
Review 38:Excellent staff and Wonderful facilities. The restaurant and cosy lounge/bar is excellent for a wonderful evening.
Review 39:Restaurant was fully booked when we arrived. Due to isolated location surprised that the restaurant did not appear to cater for all guests.
Review 40:Mountain view and balcony.
Review 41:our room/s were a little dated and in need to TLC, however it was clean and comfortable.
Review 42:location - gorgeous views of Mont Blanc. lovely comfortable and ample relaxing space in the foyer. lovely meals in the restaurant
Review 43:Location is the best part of the Hotel - facing beautiful mountain peaks of French Alps. Very friendly staff. Nice rooms and good maintenance. Ask for rooms facing the peaks - it is an amazingly tranquil experience to sit in the balcony and enjoy the scenery.
Review 44:The room was very hot - air con would have been nice!
Review 45:Super views. Good selection at breakfast. Outdoor space very nice especially for a drink in the evening and also for breakfast. I can imagine in the winter it would be lovely with the first alight making it really cosy. Would definitely stay again.
Review 46:They were so kind to give us an upgrade from a normal room to a room with excellent view. The hotel was fabulous, thank your for the kind hospitality!
Review 47:Broken sewage vent pipe outside window allowed odours into room when window opened
Review 48:Reception and public areas tastefully furnished. Room spacious abd confortable
Review 49:Breakfast is what you would expect for the money. Ok but not great.
Review 50:Great staff. We had made a change with our booking (confirmed by Booking.com) but that was not noted by the hotel. They had instead arranged with other rooms that suited us even better and was cheeper. The mountain view is spectacular!
Review 51:Walls are however very thin and one can hear quite clearly conversations from neighboring rooms. Some sound proofing would increase the attractiveness of the hotel, at least for me it is a decisive factor in whether I am going to book there again or not.
Review 52:Pleasantly surprised that the rooms were renovated. The bathrooms were modernized too. Good parking, great view of the mountains, nice staff. Tastefully decorated, thumbs up for the initiative to reboost the image.
Review 53:Expensive tea on a bar - 5 euro per cup Slow WiFi but it is "disease" of whole region.
Review 54:Stunning view on the mountains. Forest around, silence, fresh air. hotel has very fancy interior, is situated near train station. Rooms are comfortable with all needed facilities
Review 55:The toilet and shower don't have much privacy. We didn't mind as much, but some people might not like it.
Review 56:Very friendly staff, did their best to help us an alternative transportation after we missed ours due to a long delay on the flight. Great room, great shower, very comfortable bed and pillow.
Review 57:The shower over the bath was far too low and would be even for an average height person. I would like to have been notified that the dinner restaurant was closed on the night we were there. We hoped to have eaten there after a long drive.
Review 58:Comfortable bed and bedclothes, breakfast excellent.
Review 59:i find the place a bit too expensive for 2*, but hey, it is a ski resort after all and the location and view are breathtaking
Review 60:very nice surprise, this chalet is small and friendly, with a great view to Alps/Aguille du Midi. rooms are not too big, but cosy and clean. charming common areas, inviting you to a drink and socializing. friendly staff, with a mix of French and English, you can get along ok
Review 61:The room was extremely small for four - cage size! Pictures show a somewhat 'modern' hotel but it is actually quite run down.
Review 62:The common areas and the Mont Blanc view.
Review 63:Wifi didn't work properly but by the end I didn't mind
Review 64:Views on mountain was absolutely incredible and location of hotel amazing I like interior of main reception and bar breakfast was great
Review 65:Wifi signal was poor and kept dropping out. Need tea making facilities in the room. Had to ask for a hairdrier.
Review 66:Staff were super friendly, very accommodating and helpful. Pancakes were amazing!!
Review 67:Wifi requires a password for each device, which is supposed to last the duration of your stay but in practice I needed a new password each day. The ski locker was an outbuilding which was not warm enough to dry ski boots etc.
Review 68:Staff are very friendly. We had dinner on two nights and very impressed with the menu du jour, both quality of the food and the service,so didn't try the a la carte. Buffet breakfast good with proper bacon and scrambled eggs available every morning as well as all the usual things. Great location as it is in a quiet hillside spot yet easy to get to all rreals of Chamonix valley by road or train. Guests can get a complimentary ticket for the train which takes 20 minutes to Chamonix.Great views of Mont Blanc from the mountain side rooms and the second floor lounge.
Review 69:The only negative point was that the ladders for the bunkbed were positioned on the end sides, so since one end was up against the wall and the other partially blocked by a cupboard, my daughter had a tough time climbing I and out do the top bed.
Review 70:We loved the atmosphere and decor of this hotel. Especially the cozy shared living rooms and fireplace. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. View was amazing
Review 71:The WC room was a bit smelly and there was not too much space for gear in the room.
Review 72:We are a family with two young children. The room was just what we needed. A full size bed and another room with bunk beds. Perfect. We loved breakfast, wine and beer by the fire and dinner we great at the hotel every night.
Review 73:Location wasnt great, but for only one noght this didnt bother us. If we were staying in resort for longer it would not have been great
Review 74:Good food, good beds, clean, pleasant atmosphere, will definitely stay again when needs be.
Review 75:Nothing really! Wouldn't suit someone looking for nightlife on the premises.
Review 76:Friendly staff, quiet location, good food. This time I was with 2 young grandchildren, and they were made very welcome
Review 77:Had stayed before with children and room had bunk beds when we booked this time we thought we would have had the same room set up unfortunately not, but we managed.
Review 78:Comfortable beds and cosy lounge area.
Review 79:Connecting to Wifi was iffy at times
Review 80:Excellent little place to stay close to the lifts and downtown without the business of staying in the middle of town. Loved the common area - fireplace after a cold day outside, while the kids loved all the areas where they could roam or just hangout. Lots to do here.
Review 81:A little out of town, but free shuttle to ski lifts so not really a problem. Tiny shower and loo but as you're unlikely to spend much of your holiday in their again not really an issue!
Review 82:great food, friendly helpful staff, cosy lounge and bar area with open fire where guests tend to chat over a couple of drinks before dinner. Pretty garden perfect for playing in the snow for the kids. Good semi- interconnected family rooms.
Review 83:The restaurant was open not so early, which was a problem on one night when we had a very tired girl - but this was not such a big problem.
Review 84:Service Breakfast Beer on tap
Review 85:Could do with a boot warmer in the ski room 5 Euros for a cup of tea...
Review 86:Modern comfortable public areas Good food, reasonably priced Friendlystaff Family room not huge, but big enough for the four of us to livefor 5 nights Wifi signal good, although needing a new log in every daywas a bit of a pain
Review 87:Nothing comes to mind
Review 88:The staff were very friendly and very helpful nothing was to much trouble food was good and lots of space to relax with a drink and a open fire to boot what more could you want
Review 89:The Hotel was too far away for an every day walk to the village, Restaurant or to the lifts.
Review 90:There was an organized Driver Support from the Location to the City, bus or any other place.
Review 91:-poorly maintained parking -couldn't find the kids playing area -redicoulus room layout -old furniture -broken glass -big mould in the corner - low water pressure
Review 92:Just the area downstairs and the view
Review 93:Small room About a mile away from the bus to chamonix
Review 94:Friendly staff Excellent restaurant Comfortable bed Nice lobby/lounge areas Beautiful location away from the bustle of chamonix
Review 95:For us the location was a bit off the beaten track, as we had young kids it wasn't easy to go to the main road through Les Houche, because it snowed very heavy and the snow tyres on our vehical weren't good enough to trust the hill that the hotel is up, which is quite steep and about 1/3 to half a mile from the base of the valley, this wouldn't of been a problem with snow chains though. We saw the hotel is 2 star rated, we'd say more like a 3 star, maybe 4 star in places.
Review 96:Lounge room on the 1st floor, very relaxing with stunning views. The room we had was ok, the bed was firm but very comfortable, again stunning views from the Mt Blanc side. Toilet and bathroom a little dated but ok and clean, one thing I missed was having tea and coffee (mainly coffee)making facilities in the room, they might provide if you ask though. All the staff were friendly and helpful and there was always someone around if you wanted anything. The restaurant is very good, but quite small portions, fair breakfast selection which is self service and priced good considering how much it costs to eat out.
Review 97:Being VERY picky, no English speaking TV channels- we are well travelled and never been to a Country that has no English speaking channels. For the teenage kids really as with skiing holidays you tend to have early nights.
Review 98:Lovely room; excellent views, very helpful staff. We didn't eat at the hotel, but the food looked nice and the dining room was very popular. A little out of town but not too far to walk. Train station just 5 mins away which gets you most places. Hotel took us for ski hire (good rates, friendly shop staff) and transport to and from ski lifts. Couldn't ask for more. Would recommend hotel.
Review 99:The bathroom is a bit on the smaller side. The shower is small and you can hardly move. The shower curtains need changing.
Review 100:The hotel was a chalet-type hotel, very nicely done and decorated. The view was magnificent, overlooking Mont Blanc and the valley below. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had a bunk bed for our 10 & 11 year old boys.
Review 101:eveything was perfect, early check in, amazing & mind blowing view, Host was very very polite and courteous, even took us to the ski rental shop (with discount), gave us ride to the Les Houches slopes & picked us up again, recommended which time to go (snow forecast). Dinner/Food was amazing and cheap.Room was soo clean and beautifully designed.would really recommend to anyone.one of my best trips ever.
Review 102:Nothing
Review 103:Friendly staff, lovely lounge areas, clean, comfortable room with very good shower. Great views of Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi. Easy access into Chamonix by car.
Review 104:Hotel hard to find Can't speak English Bathroom is broken Attitude is bad!!!!
Review 105:your hotel have an bad waiter, something wrong with the bathroom and he whose ugly waiter said is we problem.Interesting !!!Bad bathroom and bad attitude ! I won't go here agine!!
Review 106:Unable to stay connected to wifi in my room or in the lobby As soon as I would connect, the server would go down
Review 107:comfortable room, nice facility, elevator, ice was available at the bar so we could keep medication cool, plenty of parking, great mountain views
Review 108:I am VERY VERY disappointed with this hotel. It was the worst place I have ever stayed at! 1. About the room: we had triple room at the fifth floor, which did not correspond at all to the photographs on the website. It was small, basic equipped, no enough space to move, it looked like a hostel! If I had seen this room in advance I would never booked it! I think that it would be correct if at the time of booking the pictures given show the real rooms. So, do not thrust the pictures, they are deceiving! I was very surprised to find also very strange difference between the public areas and the room inside look. The first ones were just perfect, but the second – on the lowest comfort standards. 2. The lift did not go to the fifth floor, only to the fourth, which was inconvenient for the people with luggage. 3. The internet connection was very bad, in practice there was no internet. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone and will not go there never again.
Review 109:Only two things: the view to the mountains (if you have paid extra money for it) and that the place is very close to the Chamonix (if you have car) – only 10 minutes.
Review 110:The bathroom could be updated a bit.
Review 111:Nice hotel set against the mountains with views of Mont Blanc. Great staff, dining room and bar service. They offer a generous buffet breakfast, too. There are lots of comfortable places to sit outdoors and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Review 112:No fridge or kettle in room. Lift gets stuck on last used floor if the outer door isn't closed by the last person. No indication of which floor to check. Annoying when loading and unloading heavy items. Balcony could have been cleaned for those who want to use it. Hair in bedding on arrival.
Review 113:Spectacular views of Mont Blanc. Nice chalet feel to a big hotel. Seems to have a really good location and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend the mountain view side of the hotel despite the few complaints that I had. Only mentioning them in the hope that they would help to improve the stay for others.
Review 114:Too far to walk to Town, Room clean but bathroom tiny
Review 115:The lounges, the views of Mont Blanc, the food, the roaring fire even in the Summer, the photographic artwork
Review 116:- We received a room with open plan bathroom.
Review 117:+Kind and helpful staff +Nice lounge and other facilities +Beautiful location and view (if You're on the right side of the hotel)
Review 118:The hotel is used (halls, rooms, elevators), not properly cleaned (spiderwebs, dust), some air circulation issues occur therefore dinner smell spreads all over the building in the evening, overcrowded breakfast
Review 119:Perfectly located for Chamonix visit, mountain views
Review 120:The hotel is rated 2-star so one should not have high expectations. However with a few finishing touches and attention to detail it could easily help it jump up a notch. Also, the public areas are engulfed with cooking aromas (not always pleasant) from the kitchen whenever the restaurant is in operation.
Review 121:The Hotel is conveniently located on a mountain side facing the Mont Blanc and within a few minutes drive from Chamonix (own transport is a must). The family room was spacious and although we did not use any of the facilities the hotel seems to be well equipped (restaurant, lounge areas, outdoor, etc).
Review 122:We all felt that the hotel had perhaps focused so much on the beautiful reception area that they had cut the costs a little with the mattresses which felt a bit like foam. Another slight issue was the cost of food in the restaurant which increased the price of our overall stay by a large margin. I would recommend eating somewhere else in Les Houches if, like us, you are travelling on a budget.
Review 123:For the price we paid, the hotel was fabulous. We stayed in many hotels whilst doing Tour du Mont Blanc and this was the nicest with the best breakfast. The staff were friendly and polite and the views are incredible.
Review 124:If you want to visit mont blanc and chamonix price is up for the hotels, les campanules is your perfect place to stay. It's not too far from chamonix, only 15 mins. The hotel was really cute, the view was amazing, you can see the french alps from the terrace and balcony of your room. The bed was so comfy for sleeping. They also have a big car parks and small garden for kids to play. This hotel is perfect.
Review 125:amazing view from the window - in front you can see mont blanc. Room was not big but enough even for 4 people. No problem with parking lot. Only a few minutes by car to Chamonix's centre.
Review 126:Wi-Fi access is provided strictly via impossible-to-remember username and password. Which can't be saved by web-browser for whatever reason, so you are obliged to re-enter them like 10 times per day. And it doesn't protect your data, because connection isn't encrypted anyway. Such paranoid measures can be justified in big city, where there's always a hipster around the corner, trying to steal all your bandwidth... But in the middle of the mountains, anyone who insane enough to climb all the way up just to get the free wifi deserves the damn free internet. There is really no point in torturing your clients with unmemorable passwords.
Review 127:A superb location, with a majestic view over Mount Blanc mountain (comfy indoor viewpoint with reclining seats and warm blankets included), a good selection of local cuisine in the restaurant, convenient and quick access both from highway and train station. Sitting and watching Mount Blanc emerging from cloud layer, hiding, and re-emerging again is definitely a lifetime experience.
Review 128:The room - keys were left for us even though we reached late at night and the reception was closed. Breakfast was delicious and the view of Mont Blanc was breathtaking!
Review 129:The hotel manager is not a warm person. Dinner is not something to be proud of. 15 minutes from the begging of the TMB :-(
Review 130:My 13 years old son and myself stayed at Les Campanules for two non continuous nights. The place is pleasent, rooms are small but enough for two, from the small balcony you see a beatifull mountain view, at the first floor they have nice guests room with armchairs which faces a great window, and you can rest and see the alphine. Breakfast is rich.
Review 131:Staff, views, cleanliness, well everything was 10/10.
Review 132:Atmosphere, dedicated shuttle
Review 133:Very clean, pleasant and friendly. Les Houches is a bus ride away from the slopes, but I enjoyed the town very much, and the view was spectacular.
Review 134:Helpful staff. Cosy hotel interior. Fabulous view to the mountains!
Review 135:Location was fine just a little too far from centre of Les houches
Review 136:Public areas are excellent, comfortable lounges to relax and socialise
Review 137:It`s a perfect starting point to explore the mountains!
The Fine Print
Please note that some rooms are not serviced by an elevator.
