Reviews for Hôtel Club Vacanciel Menton
Review 1:A little upgrading of the room furnishings and that there was no WiFi in the room, only in the lobby
Review 2:A stay in a great "grand" old hotel is a fabulous treat. The ambiance, the staff, the feeling that graciousness has not disappeared entirely from hotel stays Superb bathroom, the heated towel rack especially. In the center of town, sea view not necessary as the garden was other-worldly
Review 3:When aircon was on it gave us a sore throat ? maybe needs cleaning or new filter fitted . Dont stay in a room on the first floor as quite noisy as people constantly walking up and down the corridor to and from restaurant etc.
Review 4:Good location , clean room and staff pleasant.
Review 5:An unfriendly and charmless woman who ran the bar. I was moved on veryabruptly when sitting at a table right next to my room in an annex. She shooed me away saying the tables could only be used if I ordered adrink. Very poor rules given the hotel had given me a room in oldstaff rooms.
Review 6:Great gardens and location - I was in a quiet annex which looked as ifthey were old staff quarters. Done up comfortably. The English boys andgirl in the front desk were great - helpful and friendly students weredoing a great job.
Review 7:Could improve the hot food at breakfast.More shampoo and shower gel in room.Bar to open longer.
Review 8:Beds very comfortable. Excellent cleaning staff.Excellent buffet Breakfast.Fantastic location.
Review 9:Beautiful hotel with lovely gardens. Excellent staff! Large luxurious room with views of the garden qnd terrace. Tres tranquille! A quiet and restful hotel that I would like to return to in the future. Merci beaucoup! Anne-Marie
Review 10:Place is tired Threadbare carpet in bedroom No Wifi in bedrooms Offered smallest room at the price - Is this a regular problem when using Booking.com rather than direct to hotel?
Review 11:Clean refurbished bathroom
Review 12:The aircon in my room was very loud.
Review 13:The hotel had really nice features, well restored original architecture. My room was recently refurbished and very modern. The breakfast offer was exceptional! And the roof terrace a lovely spot to eat. The hotel staff were extremely helpful.
Review 14:Wifi was not available anywhere but reception. Even there it did not work. Difficult to find, not very well signed
Review 15:Nice building, classy. Good breakfast. Good location. Good secure parking. Really helpful staff who were multi lingual.
Review 16:All the individual rooms were at the back of the hotel facing the road and the railway line. Some of the rooms on the lower floors actually had parked cars right outside their windows. If you are travelling alone and are out all day, using the room only to sleep in, these rooms are probably okay. I found them a bit gloomy and noisy.
Review 17:The breakfast was great and the garden and roof terrace were very nice. I believe, the rooms facing the garden were very comfortable.
Review 18:No WiFi in rooms , had to go to sit in reception area. No tea & coffee making facilities in room.
Review 19:The setting was nice , good gardens to sit in and relax in the shade.
Review 20:Rude staff in bar and restaurant Tiered building Unclean bathroom with visible dirty grout Wouldn't even provide us with a ice bucket to cool out water Checked out 2 days early
Review 21:Nothing!
Review 22:No WiFi in room. and the WiFi in lobby is not that good when try to view youtube video. Room can hear the railway train sound.
Review 23:Price is very good for the location and facilities. Live music at night in the lounge Lounge, bar area, front garden are very comfortable Very good free full breakfast included
Review 24:none of the staff explained any details for use during our stay - very vague about everything. Bar was closed through the afternoon and closed @ 9.30pm every night
Review 25:The location
Review 26:There was a loud generator outside my room. However, fortunately it didn't disturb my sleep. One staff member, in the bar, was almost rude when I needed a cup of hot water, which she had but wouldn't provide. This was a surprise as other staff members were very helpful.
Review 27:The hotel is in a beautiful garden. Some of the staff spoke English. I find it a friendly, welcoming hotel. Most of the staff accommodates your requests and needs graciously. The generous breakfast is definitely a plus.
Review 28:Wifi was only available in common areas and was not stable in even those locations. Hotel staff neither rude or overly friendly, they just did their job. Would be nice if the front desk had more than one staff member who spoke English. Had to write my name down on a piece of paper for the front desk staff to check as they couldn't understand me.
Review 29:Hotel is situated in a really convenient location in town. You can walk to everything.
Review 30:Bar staff were a little inattentive. Having to pay extra for the inroom security safe was a surprise
Review 31:Location is very convenient to beach;town, and public transport. Breakfast (in the breakfast room) was excellent but Seagulls on the terrace could spoil the experience Front office staff were very helpful and pleasant
Review 32:This hotel should be a 4 star hotel at least. Absolutely amazingsurprise. Beautiful facilities, very chic, very clean and comfortableand royal. Its a must
Review 33:Wi-Fi poor availability. Problem with bed bugs - we stayed for 1 night and as result identified that bed bugs attack too late to talk with hotel stuff. Have photos with proof. Non-free parking.
Review 34:Breakfast and good stuff.
Review 35:Our first morning we arrived at breakfast at 9.50. Breakfast was yo finish at 10.30. There was no bread, no milk and no egga left. I had to ask the 3 or 4 staff that were working to replenish what had been eaten. Staff seemed to busy clearing the dishes and setting up for lunch. They were not enthused when asked for these things. Also, the room was so basic. Beds, bathroom and towels. That was it. No fridge or kettle. Air conditioning did not work well in our room. Room safe was extra per night of stay. Overall the building is lovely and has sooooo much potential. There needs to be an investment in upgrading the hotel and it would be wonderful. A pool would be an added bonus.
Review 36:The location was good. Front desk staff were helpful.
Review 37:No Kettle in room. Need to sort that banging door out onto main terrace, otherwise no complaints. :)
Review 38:Very reasonably priced. Excellent value for money. Staff multi-lingual and very helpful always. Position excellent within 10 mins walk of beach and Gare and minutes from shops/restaurants. Lovely, old fashioned Classic South of France feel in beautiful gardens. Rooms quiet, clean and a great nights sleep. Aircon excellent too. FREE Breakfast included. Wonderful value all round. Will definitely return here and beautiful Menton.
Review 39:Friendly efficient staff. Clean well appointed room, excellent air-conditioning, well located in centre of Menton, grand hotel style grounds and public facilities-almost expected Poirot or Miss Marple to appear.
Review 40:Main lift wasn't working when we arrived but small service lift in use. Main lift was fixed by next day.
Review 41:Grand old hotel with up to date facilities. Gardens around hotel. Lovely views from front balcony towards sea.
Review 42:Missed opportunities: Didn't really take advantage of the garden, historic aspects of this lovely old hotel at the Orangerie. Did not seem to be "native" Menton staff who could suggest hidden gems.
Review 43:Beautiful old historic hotel set in middle of Menton. Most staff were multi-lingual, and those who weren't were helpful anyway.
Review 44:Can't really find fault but note the comment about age groups !
Review 45:The setting of the hotel in its own lovely grounds - nice breakfasts(didn't eat there in the evenings - preferring to vary our outingsto several restaurants). We had a lovely room overlooking the gardensand found all the staff pleasant and helpful, including three Englishpeople at reception for when our French ran out.The onsite parking wasa bonus, especially being in the centre of the town. If anything Iwould say the feel of the hotel was that it was geared to older peopleand young families and couples might find it a little 'stuffy'.The hotel is close to the rail station and we did take a number ofoutings by train to various local resorts, which was a pleasant changefrom the car.
Review 46:No WiFi in room only in common areas...but at least those are very comfortable to relax in. Furniture could have been a little nicer, then interiors would have felt much more modern.
Review 47:A beautiful historic building with a fantastic garden are to relax in and the location was great. I stayed in the Villa building across the garden and it was very quiet. The breakfast was the best I've had during my 3-week trip. Easy walking access to stores, beach and cafe. A great deal at 50€ for my single room.
Review 48:Breakfast on the terrace was not so good as in the restaurant.
Review 49:Very good hotel. Our room was upgraded to a good size with a balcony. Very helpful English receptionist. Good and safe parking. Lovely to have breakfast on the terrace. Central good location
Review 50:No shampoo in showers, no wifi in rooms, poor variety of breakfast, though the majority of the staff were friendly, yet one of them was very rude and aggressive when I asked him About the baby bed I had pre-ordered while booking the room.
Review 51:Location in town next to train station, old building with old decoration Furniture for those who like old style
Review 52:It is quite far from the sea, some rooms are facing rail road. Poor breakfast. Wi-fi is only in lobby not always working
Review 53:Relatively low price in comparison with other options around, nice park inside
Review 54:no nobody cares of who is coming in or going out. the smelling inside is not nice. could be beautiful after renovation.
Review 55:the best part is the garden, very nice
Review 56:The Hotel vastly inflates it's prices as it is the Grand Prix Weekend, but the breakfast was better than other years.
Review 57:The location of the Hotel is excellent for both the train station and centre of the town.It has very pleasant gardens but it is on the quiet side.
Review 58:Being in a separate building to the main hotel. A very depressingly decorated room, with very hard bed. Only French TV available, ....can usually get CNN etc. No water, nor tea , coffee facilities in room and no mini bar. No information about hotel or facilities in room. Very overpriced!
Review 59:The grounds and reception area.
Review 60:Wouldnt say it actually as not like it but The WiFi is only available in the common area on the ground floor. Which could be better helpful if its available in all areas.
Review 61:Its a very nice hotel and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 62:pity that a new véranda is Not matching with the architecture The breakfast is basic The Rooms facing the breakfast Room could be noisy
Review 63:the old hôtel de Venise and the garden
Review 64:No shampoo or gel in the bathroom, only a tiny peace of soap for two nights' stay. Cleaning was not very good. Breakfast rather basic and not too much to choose. No vegetables, no choice of hot dishes - only omelette. WiFi only in the lobby of the main building.
Review 65:Good location, beautiful garden around. Very close to main places of interest especially if you come for the Festival. I stayed not in the main building but in a "Villa" in the garden - it was warm in the room, all facilities new and in order
Review 66:Very nice hotel with a big garden. Good and closed parking places, big room, wifi only in the lobby, but it was no pronlem for us. 10 minutes walk from the see, there is a supermarket very close to the hotel.
Review 67:A majestic old hotel feeling, set in beautiful grounds, our room overlooked these. A good location short walk to the beach, and restaurants, also to La Pettite Train.
Review 68:Just some of the staff speak English, elevator didn't work, the hotel room is below 2 stars level, all hotel facilities are very old, this is NOT a 3 stars hotel.
Review 69:The location of the hotel is convenient.
Review 70:The main lift kept breaking down!
Review 71:The desk staff were very helpful, especially Jake, who suggested an excellent restaurant to us. The hotel is set back from the road and has a relaxed feel to it. In all, a lovely place to return to after a day's sight-seeing.
Review 72:Not a single tv programme, in English not even the news No tea making facilities in room Dining area - just about clean enough and chipped crockery
Review 73:Location Gardens Comfortable beds Good pillows
Review 74:The main lift was broken through most of my stay. That left one tiny working lift for a huge hotel. The hot water to the shower was often cold; the shower was tiny; the lock on the room broke; Having said that the staff repaired the lock straight away and gave me a discount on the price.
Review 75:Lovely location right in the heart of the town with a beautiful garden, spacious foyer and lots of interesting events provided. Good breakfast and meals available for good value.
Review 76:Elevator did not work - had to carry luggage upstairs.
Review 77:Very nice classical building and hotel garden. Silent place OK breakfast. but nothing special Helpful staff Provided baby cot for no additional price
Review 78:Hard to find with car, even with GPS, poor signs in the street. If you find Police Nationale in Rue Partoneaux, you should drive near to this building UP to hill, then after 50 m you can stop calmly and see the garage of the hotel. Good luck!
Review 79:Good location, nice environment
Review 80:Nothing.
Review 81:Excellent position. Very peaceful and quite. Confortable bed.We loved the garden, the big room, the large breakfast and the free dinner on the 15th of August offered to all guests
Review 82:Very dated accommodation and dingy bathroom with dirty toilet bowl andmold residues. Breakfast very poor and hardly replenished. Our firstfloor room smelled like not maintained airconditioning. Reallydisgusting and unhealthy. Windows had therefore remain open.Soundproofing from the room was very poor and was sandwiched betweenfront terrace and corridor to restaurant. Therefore much hubbub ofguests for patio and breakfast in morning. Maybe stay can be repeated inanother room, because price is very reasonable.
Review 83:Beautiful location; nice belle epoque atmosphere; walking distance tobeach. You can park on the hotel premises for 7 Euros per day, which isno easy task in busy Menton during high season.
Review 84:Лучше бронировать Superior Double Room with Park View, так как окна с противоположной стороны гостиницы выходят на железную дорогу. Очень симпатичный тихий садик перед отелем, где стрекочут цикады.
Review 85:wifi is only available at the reception.
Review 86:it was such a wonderful experience to stay on this hotel. fantastic 19th century building, large, modern and clean rooms, friendly stuff. location is both close to the train station, coast and old town.
Review 87:Slightly noisy as room on first floor was located opposite restaurant and could hear the waiters preparing for breakfast.
Review 88:Reception staff very helpful. Thanks Anabolic for making us so welcome. Also to the night porter/ receptionist who got us some ice for a injured shoulder.
Review 89:Wifi was useable, weak signal and extremely slow speed even in reception. Horrible breakfast, very basic and badly cooked, even the coffe was fowl. Rooms where dated, carpet stained and needed make over.
Review 90:Good bed, and nice location with friendly helpful reception staff
Review 91:Maybe an info pack in rooms would be useful and a small kettle - but maybe this is not done in France.
Review 92:So impressed with staff - in particular young English lads on desk - was very poorly and were so supportive - loved the slightly timeless feel of this hotel.
Review 93:Breakfast is very basic. 1kind of salami,1kind cheese no eggs and so on. However the things which are available are tasteful.
Review 94:Very friendly personell, clean good location nice rooms
Review 95:There were no signs. It was extremely difficult to find
Review 96:Great breakfast and plenty of hot water.

Review 109:Great location and old world charm
Review 110:Uncomfortable bed
Review 111:Great staff, especially Jake
