Abbaye de Sainte Croix

Abbaye de Sainte Croix descritpion
Abbaye de Sainte Croix is a magnificent 12th Century abbey that was fully restored in the 70's to become a beautiful 4-star hotel that stands above the Salon de Provence.
The monks’ former living quarters have been converted into luxury suites and guest rooms and are defined by their original, superb Romanesque architecture that features high-vaulted ceilings and rustic décor.
Elevated in the country-side, guests enjoy a panoramic view of Provence while dining on the terrace. The restaurant features Provençal culinary cuisine and excellent local vintages.
The hotel is about a 28 miles scenic drive from Avignon, Les Baux de Provence and Aix en Provence. The surrounding area also provides many activities such as mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and fishing, sailing, water-skiing and diving.

Review 2:We have stayed here before 18 months ago and we were welcomed back like old friends. They gave us a "charm" room with a terrace and splendid views. The food and wine in the restaurant was excellent
Review 3:Loved this historic property and wonderful ambience. You could not beat the great views of Provence. Our room was so authentic and charming and the staff were helpful and attentive. Dinner and breakfast were lovely in the historic setting- very memorable!
Review 4:Meals were not up to the standard of. previous visit. Only one choice. Just okay. Not great.
Review 5:The rooms were fine, just not commensurate with prices. The staff was very helpful, excellent
Review 6:Wine very expensive and nothing special. We ate one evening meal which was unremarkable for the price and small portions. No wifi in rooms.
Review 7:Staff friendly. Breakfast good but at 20 euros each it should be. Great view from the terrace. Character surroundings.
Review 8:Expensive to eat here. Although food is excellent.
Review 9:Stunningly beautiful. Quiet. Attentive staff. Peaceful and relaxing. Lovely swimming pool. Stunning views. Comfortable attractive rooms. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies where you can relax.
Review 10:this spectacular property is looking very "tired"; eg the lavender "hedge" which obstructs the sensational view from the terrace has not been pruned for some years. It is absurd that this obvious and serious ugliness has not been addressed
Review 11:Staff are as lovely as ever; and food is excellent
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Restaurant service and food was excellent. All the staff are superbly helpful and spoke good English. Easy to find from Autoroute as there are many clear direction signs. Room was very comfortable. Facilities are very good. Will visit again.
Review 14:Breakfast was self service with no replacement of items available
Review 15:The view from the terrace is spectacular
Review 16:Wonderful peaceful setting with an amazing view
Review 17:Breakfast not included.
Review 18:Location and setting are phantastic. Great view on Salon and beyond. Great dinner and service. big pool.
Review 19:Food (lack of choice, incredibly £££) Decor (a bit dull) Nearest town isn't particularly nice
Review 20:View
Review 21:Incredible view. Wonderful staff.
Review 22:I really needed good WiFi and while it was provided the sessions timed out too quickly and it was not reliable.
Review 23:The food was delightful as were the staff. The Abbaye was spectacular with views of the region and plenty of walking trails. The location is ideal for day trips.
Review 24:A little too spare in contrast to other Relaix hotels where we have stayed. Things such as no comfortable chairs in rooms, no shampoo made it seem a lower level hotel....not as comfortable.
Review 25:liked ambiance of facility...setting particularly beautiful!
Review 26:Theservice was very poor, this hotel should not be Relais & Chateau Bedrooms were nice, but not luxurious in any way Most wines where not available, excuse 'end of season'. By this I mean perhaps 50% of the main red wines, they had in stock only the very cheap and very expensive were available from what was not a good wine list in the first place Food was acceptable but not to a standard that one would expect from a R & C 2*-3* at best
Review 27:the Location was fantastic
Review 28:The restaurant while offering good food was a little on the pricy side and staffed by inexperienced youth.
Review 29:The hotel is delightful. An excellent value and aesthetically incredible.
Review 30:Not applicable
Review 31:The room and general layout of the hotel were excellent but waiters at dinner lacked training and wine was served far too cold for example.
Review 32:Delightful ambience. Glorious views. Charming public rooms, and intimate and comfortable private rooms. Polite and gracious staff, yet unobtrusive. There was a roaring log fire in the sitting room, (although it wasn't cold in the hotel, far from it) which created great atmosphere.
Review 33:My favourite place by far .. the Abbaye was perfect and location/views was just stunning on the mountain. Rooms were comfortable and had all the amenities. Staff were brilliant and very friendly and very accomodating. The Chef and he's staff were also brilliant, we stayed 4 nights and ate all 4 nights in the Abbaye because the food was just amazing ... love love loved it and highly recommend anyone to stay here.
Review 34:It was expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for!
Review 35:The Abbaye is remarkable and has a stunning view. The staff is very friendly and the dinner was wonderful.
Review 36:When we drove to the hotel, it was not easy to locate it although wewere using the navigator because there wasn't any number of the street. There must be a sign to show how far it is from the beginning of theroad or they shoud inform us specific directions to get there.
Review 37:It is located on top of the hill so I could enjoy the panoramic view ofSalon de Vence and rested in a quiet exotic environment. I won't forgetthe fantastice full course dinner in the garden with excellent service. As we arrived a little later than we planned, they gave us the roomwithout nice view near the gate . I was very disappointed, but the roomwas spacious and had a huge bathroom in the lower level of the room.
Review 38:We had been last year and came back for our honeymoon. The service wasabysmal - with a great reluctance to serve us any food. We were toldwe could have nothing by the pool and on the terrace were given coldcups of coffee and nothing to eat. Eventually we were given a strip ofham each and tiny cheese. I was told there were no snacks of any kindonly to find a huge jar of biscuits in the lobby which I'd happilyhad. We had to beg a drink in the evening and then the one waitressvanished when we wanted another. It was utterly disgraceful. The factthat we were on our honeymoon mattered not one bit. Memorable for thewrong reasons.
Review 39:Our room, although tastefully furnished, was no more than adequate in size an facilites.
Review 40:The location, the view, the friendly and professional staff offering excellent service, the old buildings nicely blended with modern facilities, the selection of decorative items, furnishings, everything is so tastfully done that it is a pleasure to be there. It is an experience well worth a journey. We also had an excellent dinner with local wines recommended to us that were exceptionally good.
