Reviews for SH Ingles Boutique Hotel
Review 1:The location is wonderful, right in the heart of the city. Easy walk from the rail station, convenient to bus stops. Attractive building and clean room, with a comfortable bed. Very good breakfast, eggs cooked to order. Restaurant produced excellent tapas.
Review 2:Breakfast - There was a message to say ask a member of staff if you wanted sausages or eggs for breakfast. I asked for sausages and eggs and was told there was no sausages so I had eggs, only to see someone be given bacon and eggs as I was leaving the breakfast room and I felt the staff member should have said bacon was available instead of the sausages when I placed my order. Carpet in hall needs replacing and updating of bathrooms.
Review 3:The location and cleanliness of the rooms.
Review 4:It wasnt a bad experience but we found the breakfast vastly overpriced at 14 euros.
Review 5:The location of the hotel was excellent and very convenient for both the old and commercial parts of Valencia. Our room was in a wonderful position with a view of the ceramics museum and the entrance to the hotel.
Review 6:one small thing we didnt like was there was no egg or bacon availible for breakfast but would visit here again
Review 7:The location was fantastic and the staff always friendly really like the outside terrace and not over priced
Review 8:The breakfast was poor and only included in a package. We couldn't have breakfast without paying 14 euro per person which sounds expensive comparing with the other options we had around. And at night it was very noisy.
Review 9:I liked the accommodation and overall it was good. Great location.
Review 10:The staff was not rude but also seemed like they didn't want to speak with you (we also speak Spanish). The rooms are depressing as they are out dated, very worn down and dirty. The beds are uncomfortable. When they push 2 twins together to make it a king. The beds separate leaving you to fall in the middle. You also hear every noise throughout the hotel.
Review 11:The building was beautiful and in a nice location. Within walking distance to everything.
Review 12:Our room, num.116, was bad . It was not as are the rooms on website ! ! It was small room and bathroom , small window looking on back yard , bad light in the room , we didn't feel good there ! I made reservation as a normal double room and also pay for normal , nice furnished room and it was unpleasant be there.
Review 13:location, coffee bar and restaurant , all the hotel is very pleasant and elegant
Review 14:Continental Breakfast inadequately stocked, and had to ask for items such as bread, orange juice, jam etc missing from buffet bar. Tables not always dressed missing tea spoons, cups and had to go looking for them yourself. It appeared they were never entirely ready to start breakfast at 7 / 7.30 am as advised.
Review 15:Great Location Hotel kept very clean Comfortable very large double bed
Review 16:When I arrived around midnight, nobody knew about my reservation so I had to find another hotel after whole day travelling. No assistance was offered.... Did not see the rooms hence could not evaluate... Perhaps they are ok...
Review 17:Breakfast was poor, service poor as only one member of staff on duty and she couldn't keep up with the number of guests. Reception staff never greeted us as we walked by, appeared unfriendly.
Review 18:Location was great, central area but quiet and safe.
Review 19:The staff at reception were quite unfriendly. I'm Irish and maybe there is a cultural difference. There was no personal welcome or even eye contact. They did let me charge my mobile phone though at reception. Just think a little more personal friendliness would be nice
Review 20:The location was great.room was clean and comfortable.
Review 21:The breakfast was disappointing, especially for the 14 euro price. The empty tables all had dirty dishes and I had to search for a waitress so I could order some eggs. There are plenty of other places nearby that serve breakfast at a reasonable price.
Review 22:Very nice boutique hotel in a great location as a base for sightseeing. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
Review 23:There was no parking and this cost another £90 Euro's on top of the bill for 5 days and nights. The room itself was quite basic and work needs doing to bring it up to a good state.
Review 24:The location of the property was excellent.
Review 25:Excellent location right in the heart of Valencia. We stayed here with a group of friends to go to the Moto GP and cannot fault the place - close enough to the train to get there whilst right in the centre. Room was cleaned every day, and staff were very helpful. Didnt use any facilities so cannot comment on these.
Review 26:Nothing.
Review 27:Originally we chose this hotel simply because of its location in the historic district near the train station and the availability of luggage storage for our late-night departure flight. In fact, our 3 night stay turned out to be a wonderful experience. Firstly, when we asked for a king bed, we were upgraded to a lovely big room. The reception staff were charming and helpful. We were allowed an extra hour for check-out and a taxi to the airport was arranged on our behalf. Our first dinner in Valencia was in the hotel restaurant and it was superb. We whole-hearted recommend the SH Ingles Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Valencia - which by the way is an enchanting city.
Review 28:Breakfast was a disappointment, not enough staff, chaotic, had to clear tables ourselves & find cutlery etc.
Review 29:Great location, very comfortable, clean room. Would definitely recommend hotel
Review 30:Sometimes at breakfast we had to wait for a table because it was busy but not really Good Hotel in a problem .
Review 31:Perfect location near to bars restaurants metro. friendly helpful staff room was spacious and clean, comfy bed. Be sure to ask for non smoking room. Will stay there again if we go to Valencia
Review 32:city marathon was taking place on sunday 18th Oct and no transport access was available at time of check out. guests should have been advised of this to allow for additional time to get to airport.
Review 33:location was excellent
Review 34:The hotel staff its very grumpy and not very helpful. It's a very noise hotel you can literally hear all sorts of noises from other rooms which wakes you up in the middle of the night and early mornings. We heard the shower every morning from each room we had on the sides. Very unpleasant. The pillows are super thing and uncomfortable. We were running late on our last day so decided to go for the breakfast which is a ripoff for what it is and the staff can't be worse. On our check out (morning) another couple were complaining about the shower (it felt from the wall) and the staff responded that couldn't do anything at least until following day as it was bank holiday. Didn't even offer to give them another room!! Not very impressed with the overall experience.
Review 35:The location is fantastic as it's located very near the old town, has loads of places to go for food and very easy to get from and to the airport/metro. There is a bar called Clandestino which is right next to the Hotel and although is quite has a good selection and variety of drinks. Their staff is very friendly and gives you good tips about the city.
Review 36:Could use a little updating. Bed was hard as rock and towels very thin. Av was ok but can't imagine staying there during summer.
Review 37:Incredible location and wonderful staff. Room size was very good too.
Review 38:Coffee facilities in room Breakfast quite expensive
Review 39:Great staff Great location Didn't use too many facilities of hotel but what we used we enjoyed.
Review 40:Adjacent to the beautiful Ceramics Museum. Ideal location for walking to the tourist destinations in the old town. Plenty of variety for eating places.
Review 41:No
Review 42:Hotel was in a prime location but nice and quiet. Room was immaculate, bed lovely and comfortable. There is also a bar with tables and chairs outside, wine was reasonably priced. There is also a cocktail bar attached to hotel, have a go its lovely. There is a main street two mins walk behind the hotel, full of tapas bars, lovely. There is lots of little sqaures that come alive of an evening. Explore, explore.Valencia is a beautiful place. We stayed at this hotel for six night's, and we could not find any fault with it. Would defo return and would defo recommend.
Review 43:Room was excellent clean beds towels free wifi which we didnt find a problem with even though some people have commented on bad signal. Overall a fantastic place ideal for sightseeing. Didn't use the restaurant but it was always busy.
Review 44:We had a balcony but it was taken up completely by the air conditions unit which was a shame. It appears to be a smoking room, had a smokers smell.
Review 45:Location, breakfast, being able to have a drink on the terrace watching the world go by.
Review 46:Stayed on 1st floor which was very noisy. Not from outside but within the hotel, room also near lift and above the bar. Too noisy for us especially if you want to sleep before mid-night.
Review 47:Central location, very convenient to walk to great eating places and plazas.
Review 48:The hotel is very well located. There are a lot of restaurants and bars nearby (2min walk) but at the same time the direct neighboorhood of the hotel is really quiet.
Review 49:The hotel would benefit from a good restaurant. The cafe closes quite early too. If you want a late drink there is a souless cocktail bar. We were not even able to buy wine or beer there. Unbelievable! They said it was because the cafe was closed!!
Review 50:The position of the hotel is excellent. The road is well connected and tree lined. The rooms were large and well appointed. We have stayed there on many occasions.
Review 51:Ask for a room away from the lifts. Very noisy and being used all night.
Review 52:Location. Wifi. Palace right next door with amazing sculptured facade. Thus is the view from the hotel terrace.
Review 53:Our reception was less than welcoming. Staff were generally rude and guests were treated as an inconvenience, as they interrupted whatever other busy task was occupying their time. This included the manager. Our room was not ready until 2 1/2 hours later than checkin time. When the young fellow who was left to tell us the bad news asked if he could change us into another room that was ready, you did not need to understand much Spanish to interpret the senior female manager's rude response. The only smile or even acknowledgement we saw from staff was one lovely, helpful girl at the front desk as we were leaving two days later. When we finally did get to our room, the cleaning products that had been used were so strong they were overwhelming. Very disappointing in such a lovely location.
Review 54:Hotel is in a fabulous position in the historic centre, so very easy to walk wherever you need to go.
Review 55:1. We stayed for 10 nights. We were asked to do a partial payment after X nights, which is completely normal. But when settling the final bill it took about 30 minutes to sort out how much remained to pay, whitout any excuse for the extra trouble. 30 minutes that would have been very valuable time for us on the last evening befor an early morning flight. This was unacceptable. Other experience of staff was all very positive. 2. Breakfast a bit limited. Would have been nice with some fish options for example.
Review 56:Location just next to the wonderful Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas.
Review 57:Bathroom was a bit outdated but still fully functional. Other than that nothing, really.
Review 58:cozy place in the city center, awesome view to one of the most architecturally impressive buildings in Valencia (Museo Nacional de Ceramica) . Nice wooden floors, quality curtains and air conditioning in the room.
Review 59:The staff couldn't have done more to help us. The room and bed were wonderful and you couldn't ask for a better location: so near all you'd want to explore.
Review 60:I have stayed here several times. The location and quality of service can't be beat. This last time, my room overlooked the front door of the Palace of Dos Aquas, right next door. Spectacular!
Review 61:We had a poor experience with the restaurant, where staff were quite rude and obviously didn't want two travel weary people in there. We left and didn't bother again as there are many great places to eat close by.
Review 62:Reception staff were friendly and helpful and the location is good.
Review 63:location of air conditioner in the room is not good. whatever direction you pick, it flows directly to your bed, so the weather is too hot if you turn it off, but if you leave it on at night, you will most probably get sick - just like we did :/
Review 64:huge & comfortable bed. location is really central.
Review 65:I like it all
Review 66:I love the location of this hotel for its closeness to plaza Reina and to Barrio del Carmen all grate places for an evening out and if you require to park then there is a very good car park in plaza reina... if booked in advance the rate is very inexpensive
Review 67:The bed was extremely hard and gave my husband a bad back. The pillows gave no support, they were far too soft. The positioning of the air conditioning unit was all wrong. It made the bed cold and little else.
Review 68:The hotel was in a perfect position for exploring the old town. The price was very competitive.
Review 69:Smell, there is an obvious drainage issue which is covered up with a pungent sweet aroma of perfume. bathroom outdated needs overhaul. Breakfast needed other vegetarian protein.
Review 70:location, staff and style.
Review 71:Rooms a bit gloomy with noise from above and along corridor. Mixed customer care, some staff helpful, others aloof, cleanliness inconsistent. One half of the double bed sloped badly.
Review 72:Lovely old building in a location that is both central, beautiful and historic. Good value for money with reasonably spacious rooms and bathrooms.
Review 73:Bath/shower in hotel slippery and narrow/lack of safety handles. Pillows too soft and bed moved across floor every time you turned over.
Review 74:Location
Review 75:everything was fine. We didn't take breakfast- it seemed expensive but there were plenty of alternative nearby.
Review 76:We had an excellent room on the third floor, spacious with an almost perfect bathroom. Staff were polite and helpful. Great hotel, excellent value for money.
Review 77:I could hear sounds room to room and corridor to room as if the walls were paper thin at times.
Review 78:The hotel was in a perfect location for discovering Valencia on foot.
Review 79:If there was just one small thing, staff were not unfriendly, but not very friendly either. It would add more of a personal feel to the hotel if staff were more welcoming
Review 80:The room was lovely, marble bathroom, small touches, miniatures replaced daily, very comfortable bed, really clean and lovely old building. City centre location but not noisy either.
Review 81:Nothing happy to recommend and return
Review 82:Convenient for walking round the old town and short walk to main stop for the touristic buses. The 2 day ticket excellent value and able to book and pay at hotel.
Review 83:Only fault we were in room 116 on first floor at back of hotel it was so dark required lights on when in room.
Review 84:excellent location for sights, first class breakfast and restaurant
Review 85:Breakfast poor, mostly cakes and fruit. The bed was very small, mattress hard and pillow non existing. No view, just another building 5 meters from our window, could not open the window, claustrophobic. Overpriced.
Review 86:Location. That you could sit outside having breakfast
Review 87:It's not that I didn't like it but I couldn't understand why your cocktail bar couldn't serve any beers when bar was closed. Pain when you wanted a night cap.
Review 88:Hotel bang slap in the middle of everything.
Review 89:Directions from Station Valencia Nord were completely wrong and are apparently directions from the north of the city. Fortunately we found an English speaking policeman and several locals who were able to show us where the hotel was.
Review 90:Closeness to Plaza Reina
Review 91:Friendly staff to help with our lack of much Spanish. Perfect location for sight seeing. Cocktail Bar was added treat as 3 of our party had recent Birthdays! Would love to return to Valencia and would choose this hotel again.
Review 92:Liked everything about the hotel - location, view of ceramics museum, clean & comfortable, wonderful bed, friendly staff, good breakfast. Would stay here again.
Review 93:Staff were unable, or unwilling, to offer good advice on local dining options to avoid the run of the mill touristic restaurants.
Review 94:Our room looked out to the flamboyant facade of the ceramics museum next door, and a short stroll took us to the cathedral. In fact all the major sites in the old town were within an easy walk.
Review 95:The bar tender was rude
Review 96:The staff was wonderful. The room was comfortable with all of the little amenities. The location was great, it is within walking distance from the train station and all of the museums in Madrid, as well as restaurants.
Review 97:Customer service was terrible! We had cockroaches in the bathroom on a regular basis and the staff did nothing about it. I have sent 2 complaint letters since our stay and the hotel does noeven reply - no apologies, no compensation - nothing! What Customer service SH hôtels!!!!!
Review 98:Location, size of room
Review 99:The room we had was at the side of the hotel and was smaller with a relatively small window. The rooms at the front of the hotel were much bigger and brighter.
Review 100:The location, breakfast terrace, and general facilities
Review 101:It is situated close to the main places of interest in the centre of the Old Town. It's very convenient for walking around the area and is also close to where the tourist bus routes start.
Review 102:We could hear every door bang, every conversation in the corridor. I was pleased I had some ear plugs with me!
Review 103:Location was great. The staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 104:staff at the front desk is unaware of good restaurant of famous chefs / flea market/directions in the city .. they are very young and seems like trainee the hotel does not deserve boutique hotel standart and need a talented concierge .. we have stayed at the rooms looking at a narrow street without light and with strong fences ..we thought we stay in a prison..avoid back rooms ..we have made two different reservation under the same name for one night and the other reservation for the following two nights (the reason is at the last moment we have found free rooms at the hotel) however front desk does not realize these reservations under the same name for different nights and assumed we are checking out after the first night .. the price for the room does not meet the quality of the hotel
Review 105:only location
Review 106:Location was perfect, easy trip from the airport & felt we were near everything but was quiet at night. Spacious room kept beautifully clean, would definitely recommend the hotel to friends.
Review 107:Only grumble would be the shower screen in room 321 made entering the bath almost impossible as you had to climb over the toilet to get in the bath. Just badly fitted. No room service, but restaurant staff were happy to prepare food/drinks for us to take to our room.
Review 108:The Hotel is well located in the city centre with lovely rooms and really comfy beds and nice linen. The staff were all really helpful and only too willing to help.
Review 109:The wi-fi is not the best if your on the 3rd floor
Review 110:This hotel is in a great location to explore all the city has to offer. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms clean and comfortable
Review 111:None
Review 112:Loved our room. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had a sweet anti room and balcony on which to sit. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The hotel is well maintained and very charming. The wifi is free and worked great.
Review 113:kids seem to be allowed to let off firecrackers anywhere any time and sound like the taliban are in town.
Review 114:plenty to do and see without need for taxis and a cheap bike hire to reach the beach. food quality very good.
Review 115:Breakfast (dry and tasteless bread), selfservice buffet but no eggs or hot food, had to be ordered separately, Nescafe!? instead of proper fresh ground coffee. No freshly squeezed orange juice in the heartland of oranges!?? Slow and inadequate wifi
Review 116:Staff, professional and helpful, Good bed and super location. Garage parking 100 meter from the hotel (18 euros per day)
Review 117:My room was on the back of the hotel and very close to what sounded like a generator. It was very noisy, sounded like a motor boat starting up, went on all night. When I complained the next day they sent the maintenance engineeer to look at it and the second night was ok. Third night it started up again so I asked to be moved and was given a different room for the fourth night of my stay. So out of 4 nights I lost 2 nights sleep . It made me angry that the staff were clearly not surprised by my complaint, obviously they had been told about it before. Nor were they apologetic . I asked for help to move my belongings and they said no one was available. Very poor attitude to guests from all staff members. Quality of breakfast food also poor and little variety. I would definitely not stay there again
Review 118:location, pleasantly decorated bar and breakfast room ,
Review 119:Difficult to stop in front of the hotel to offload the luggage. Car park quite a long walk away.
Review 120:Quiet street but very close to main street in the old town. Unexpectedly large room.
Review 121:The reception staff could have been more enthusiastic. It wasn't that they weren't responsive to enquiries but they tended to chat amongst themselves and not really go quite the distance in being helpful.
Review 122:I had a room at the front of the hotel which was extremely large with large bathroom. The street was not noisy in February but might be more so in the summer. Friends who had rooms on the side reported them rather small and some problems from a generator. The breakfast was a decent buffet and one could get snacks and meals throughout the day in the coffee shop attached to the hotel. The bar was pleasant to hang out in in the evening.
Review 123:Be aware this is a city centre hotel and you will hear traffic noise but we didn't think this was a problem.
Review 124:Good size, clean, comfortable room. Very helpful, friendly staff. Adequate breakfast including a hot option (but you have to ask for this!). Hotel 5 minutes walk from Colon Metro Station. Liked both bars attached to the hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 125:The WiFi would go off after only a few minutes and I constantly had to re-connect.The TV channels were mostly Spanish, German and only 2 for English. CNBC and BBC. Sometimes I could find National Geographic, but it seemed to be the same show repeated. The bathroom does not have bidet or water hose. No bathtub. The walk-in shower is fine but could have used better cleaning. The blow dryer was weak.
Review 126:The location was ideal if you like to be surrounded by lovely, old buildings and if you like to explore and take in the culture. Very handicapped- friendly. Only 3 floors. The hotel is only minutes to everything such as shopping, brand shopping, tour bus, restaurants, cafes, pubs, etc. It is a small, lovely hotel. The front desk staff were very accommodating. The hotel restaurant (Le marquis) serves the morning breakfast, which I did not try as I thought it was too pricey (Euros 14) but I did have dinner there one night and the food was good. I ordered the beef fillet and it came as one rather large piece of beef, rather than sliced but it was tasty. It seems to be popular as a cafe through out the day, both in side and outside. The room and bathroom were a good size. Electrical sockets all worked. Elevators were quick.
Review 127:There was kakerlakk animal in the first floor. Running rund the Floor. There was a dead kakkelak inn the step for 4 days.
Review 128:The hotell was close to every ting to see inn Valencia.
Review 129:Room needs slight updating,great size,comfy bed,large bathroom,just decor needs tarting up.
Review 130:Loved the location,in the historic area of the city, close to cathedral and bars, and restaurants, but quiet street, two lovely bars attached to hotel, great looking building.
Review 131:The wifi was poor and you cannot stream films off apple TV or similar device. The breakfast is not very good and relatively expensive. Best to eat in one of the cafes nearby.
Review 132:We liked the location above all as the hotel is such a short distance from the centre of the historic area in Valencia and therefore close to both restaurants and places to visit.
Review 133:location was in a quiet street next too the amazing museum of ceramics which was closed when we were there. Great room, lovely hotel. Parking on street if you're lucky
Review 134:Breakfast was overpriced and underdelivered. Also the restaurant/breakfast room is in total mismatch with the ambiance of the hotel itself.
Review 135:Excellent location at the Old City center
Review 136:Wifi might be intermittent depending on room.
Review 137:Location perfect for shopping & sights. Spacious, clean room and bathroom. Parking close by. Staff certainly accommodating. Had incredible view of Ceramics Museum from our balcony.
