Reviews for Best Western Escurial Tours Sud

Review 1:The hotel boasts a restaurant service. They should be sued under missdescriptions legislation. The only food available classed as a {new initiative} was 2no prepared pots of food which required microwaving before eating. This the staff failed to do correctly as the food was cold in the middle of the pot.If the hotel can't or won't provide a cook/chef to prepare and cook food they should not be advertised as a Restaurant. The hotel internally is somewhat tired and requires redecoration

Review 2:The hotel is in spacious grounds with a number of external facilities for the summer

Review 3:Hotel no longer has a restaurant. Clean but in need of a little updating.

Review 4:Hotel is located by the tram line which will take you approx 10 mins into Tours centre. Also just around the corner is a good shopping centre, with a couple of Restuarants.

Review 5:The area was not wot I was expecting very dirty. And seems to be that big hotels don't need to prove There selfs very poor for the price of a nights stay comparing else were and the Quality. Should of been half the money.

Review 6:Nothing at all could wait Togo in the morning

Review 7:Just driven 10 hours from Monaco and was dying for a beer. Bar does not open till 7pm and no one would serve you before, quite a few of us in the same way. And it was 29c outside

Review 8:Easy to find ideally located large free car park

Review 9:We booked this hotel as a stopping point on our drive to the south as it was well located, with a pool. The pool was out of service that day!

Review 10:Nice clean quiet hotel, friendly staff and modern bathroom.

Review 11:Overall facilities inside need updating. Mould on the sealant around the bath. No fridge.

Review 12:Comfy beds and friendly staff. Only 15 minutes from Savonnieres and the Chateau Villandry, which we visited. We also ate out at Savonnieres rather than the hotel.

Review 13:Not enough staff. One poor woman doing everything. Restaurant closed so no evening meal. Breakfast appalling.

Review 14:Location. We were travelling further south into France and this was a perfect place to stop.

Review 15:Our table wasn't ready when we went for breakfast. It caused a little distress as my son has Autism and doesn't do waiting very well. Otherwise the staff were fantastic.

Review 16:Very friendly staff.

Review 17:The breakfast was advertised at €7 however that's only an express option which felt pricey. The restaurant is closed in the weekend.

Review 18:The staff was very friendly and the room spacious and very comfortable.

Review 19:The smell of and visible evidence of the room (2nd level) having been used for guests who insist on bringing pets with them. It is the only reason that I have not given this hotel a better rating. The sooner hotels in France ban pets from guest rooms, or reserve rooms exclusively for them, the better. I will probably not use this hotel again, which is a shame, as I visit Tours often in my work.

Review 20:Location and pool

Review 21:Re best western Escurial Tours Sud After a long drive travelling the last thing we wanted to be told on check in (at 5 pm by the way) that our room wasn't ready. When booking this hotel for our overnight drive further south we chose this hotel for its good stars on booking.com and for its swimming pool and tennis courts for the children in our party to work off some energy after sitting still in a car for so long. Our reservation stated that we could check in from 4. Sadly this was not the case. We were not given any indication of the time to wait (well actually one person in our party was told half hour which proved to be false), and we're not offered any free refreshments for the delay. After waiting one hour with no news,at 6pm we decided to go for something to eat. When telling the front desk this only one of our rooms was now ready. By the time we came back the rooms were thankfully ready, but we then had to spend time unmaking the beds which were made for with two blankets each when the current temperature was 30degrees. The rooms were also unbearably hot with no a/c. Breakfast (admittedly we were slightly late) was also disappointing. I asked if there was any more fruit salad and it was replaced with a bowl of browning fruit. Really not good enough

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:The staff serving the food outside at night could smile a little and look as if they are enjoining it not this is what you get take it or leave it. The reception staff on the other hand where very friendly and could not be more helpful. Nowhere to stroll at night to far out of town.

Review 24:Restaurant very poor. Very few options on the available menu for dinner. Buffet breakfast expensive for what it offered and the continental breakfast on offer was not worth having as described to us by the waitress who, in addition, asked us on arrival at the breakfast room if we had booked breakfast before we were offered a table.

Review 25:Fairly easy to find and availability of secure parking.

Review 26:The fact that there was no restaurant open on Friday evening or theweekend!!! We ended up eating in a shopping precinct, in france! Alsothe information in the rooms was all out of date. Including how toconnect to the internet.

Review 27:The breakfast was quite good.

Review 28:A bit scruffy here and there but breakfast good, staff lovely and perfect for us with children.

Review 29:Friendly and welcoming staff, nice big room for us and 2 children and comfortable.

Review 30:really liked this hotel. easy to find, free parking, the dinner was excellent (probably the best lamb I have ever had and foie gras comparable with a michelin star restaurant), very comfy bed, good wifi connection, would stay here again for sure next time we are in the area

Review 31:You pay extra for your pet but you get nothing for the money. My dog does not moult or foul indoors. A dog blanket, a few treats and 2 dog bowls should be offered one for water and the other for food. I asked for a cocktail - a Blue Lagoon and the member of staff left to serve me did not know how to make one and could not unscrew the cocktail shaker. In the end I thought I cancelled the cocktail and ordered a juice instead. the next thing I had both so I was obliged to pay for a terrible tasting cocktail as well as a juice. We paid 14Euros each for breakfast which was definitely not worth it.

Review 32:The bed was very comfortable.

Review 33:Short staffed at dinner. Only one person was serving and we were made to wait for 15 minutes to be seated and given a menu. Orders were not taken for another 15 minutes, so we decided to leave without ordering. This was a Saturday night and we found it was ridiculous that they provided one staff members to serve a full restaurant. No apologies from them, either.

Review 34:The hotel is located close to a large shopping centre, but has got a natural environment.

Review 35:If you don't want to have your dinner in the hotel, it is a bit remote...

Review 36:Really nice and helpful staff. The head waiter in the evening was great - nice sense of humour and very good english. The evening meal was very good quality. We decided to go into town for breakfast. The hotel is one minutes walk from the tram line that takes you right into the heart of town for €2.70 return. This was very convenient and the receptionist will give you a rechargeable card that allows you to pay at the "bus stop".

Review 37:Service in the resturant could be a bit erratic, and the decor in the resturant was very dull and lacking in character which was a pity as they were trying hard with the food. There are no other places to eat in the area, apart from a bar opposite which closes in the evening

Review 38:good location on the edge of Tours,by the tramway.Nice garden setting with small pool. Comfortable bedrooms though no aircon.Very good breakfast and we had very good meals in the resturant.

Review 39:The rooms would have benefitted from air conditioning on what was a hot summer night. The hotel was not particularly easy to find.

Review 40:Helpful staff at reception, in the restaurant and at check out. The rooms were fine for an overnight stop but limited in size. The shower should be provided with a curtain to contain the spray and keep the rest of the bathroom dry.

Review 41:Breakfast costing 13 euros is way too expensive. Not even a full English but continental. Dried milk for tea and coffee in room. Quilts too hot and no sheets to use instead. We arrived just after 9pm so too late for dinner.

Review 42:Outdoor pool looked nice but didn't get time to use it as we only had a short stopover.

Review 43:Lovely hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Welcomed us and our dog. Service excellent, great facilities. Comfy beds, really good restaurant. Menu enfant top quality.

Review 44:Tired rooms with worn furniture Dust on surfaces Un secured safe- could be lifted and removed whole Dogs leaping up on breakfast buffet Used dog poo bags on floor next to swimming pool Tea making facilities except for spoons, so you couldn't actually make tea Need I go on? ( I could!)

Review 45:Close to local shopping & restaurants

Review 46:We arrive 45 minutes early on a beautiful sunny day hoping to get into the pool but were told we couldn't book in as we were early and had to sit on the terrace and wait until 4 o'clock when we could book in. Thought this was very petty as the room was already made up and our 5 year old couldn't understand why we had to wait. Neither could I as we have stayed in Best Western hotels before and have never had this problem.

Review 47:Very comfortable hotel

Review 48:- Lack of air conditioning, but it wasn't that bad

Review 49:- Clean & quiet room - Close to the tram station, so easy access to the city center - Water boiler, coffee and tea offered

Review 50:Very poor customer service; waited hours for meal on first night plus mistakes with order due to coach party taking priority and not enough staff, asked for extra pillows told only allowed four per room, were over charged massively ( by over 100 euro) at checkout, took considerable time and effort to sort this with no apology. Such a shame as everything else about the hotel was great but the service spoilt the experience.

Review 51:Lovely food at the restaurant, nice setting. Service in restaurant good on the second night when coach party arrived after we had eaten. Very good value overall.

Review 52:Noise insulation in the building not brilliant.

Review 89:The size of a glass of wine. Barely half full.

Review 90:Free, strong WIFI.

Review 91:The hotel is very close to other amenities such as a cinema, fast food and more sedate restaurants.

Review 99:wifi charge of 3 Euros (we didn't use). would expect this as complimentary nowadays !

Review 100:extremely polite reception, quiet location, excellent food, large free car park

Review 101:Room had grubby corners and the food made me ill. It was not food poisening but both us had dreadful indigestion all night. The food itself was not very good and really bad value. When we complained in the morning we were told the police would be called. My partners meal consisted of a boiled chicken leg, 5 fried new potatoes, 8 small green beans followed by some ice cream for which he was charged 27 euros. When he complained the following morning he was told he should have complained thr previous evening but when he said that we did not know then that the food would make us unwellthe receptionist decided tostop understanding us. This is a really bad hotel. What was really funny was the menu exhorted how wonderful the chef was and how delicious his food was well he must have been having s really bad night when we stayed there

Review 102:Nothing dreadful place

Review 103:The location was terrible. It was in tthe middle of industrial area beside a lot of high rise apartments - depressing. We booked the hotel only because we had trouble finding another in the Loire valley in August. The decor was dull and dated.

Review 104:However, the room was comfortable and we did sleep well. Breakfast was good and the price was reasonable.

Review 105:There is a tennis court & swimming pool which was much appreciated as the weather was hot. We ate at the restaurant & the food was superb. Also, the waitress who served us was very attentive and friendly. The hotel, although near to Tours centre is in a quiet & peaceful location.

Review 106:The restaurant closes to early, in 9:00 PM. We wanted to have dinner with small children, but it was not possible.

Review 107:Reception very good. Called us on the day to check everything was ok - a nice touch. Very friendly and welcoming.

Review 108:All the rest is Ok except reception organization for payment. It was a nightmare I waited 30 minutes before payment.

Review 109:If anything a little to far from city centre

Review 110:Very comfortable staff extremely friendly and helpful

Review 111:Almost impossible to find - locals do not know where it is

Review 112:Tennis court, swimming pool, staff

Review 113:Could do with having air con. They closed the bar at 22.10, not that wedrink a lot but it seemed a bit early

The Fine Print
