Reviews for Hostal San Miguel
Review 1:It was lovely to be able to get to know some of the other guests in the hostel over breakfast in the mornings. We also appreciated the helpfulness of staff who helped us find good places to eat and suggested very interesting activities in the area.
Review 2:No hair dryer in the room. Breakfast would be improved with fresh orange juice.
Review 3:This hotel is easy to find. It is quiet. There is free parking outside the door. The staff are delightful. It is easy walking distance from Plaza Mayor. The hotel is in a lovely old building.
Review 4:Very comfortable and friendly and helpful staff. Having secure parking was great. It's perfectly situated for exploring the old town. There is a lovely little garden where you can sit under the lemon and orange trees with a glass of wine. Most enjoyable
Review 5:Loved Trujillo and the Hostel San Miguel's proximity to the Plaza Mayor where eating in the evening was a wonderful experience. The manageress in the Hostal San Miguel was extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 6:Beds not very comfortable. No doonas just sheet and thin comforter. Towels were terrible. Allowed other guests to smoke in their rooms. Overpriced due to Spanish long weekend. Breakfast very average.
Review 7:Agnu was a fantastic staff member who was very helpful. Big family room with 5 single beds & ample circulation space. Very clean. Kids liked rear yard area (paved) with trees.
Review 8:Hotel locks up its parking at 10pm which means you have to park on streets and that may not be easy or as secure!
Review 9:Great location. Secure parking. Nice atmosphere of very old building. Have had more comfortable beds but still very much enjoyed being there as a base for travel to tourist spots in Cacares and Merida. It's close to plaza Mayor which has numerous cafes etc
Review 10:I loved it and found nothing at all to criticise - but bear in mind that this is a value for money hostal, not a luxury hotel, and if that is what you are looking for it would be better to go elsewhere.
Review 11:Lovely little bed and breakfast in a quiet square a couple of minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor. Good sized room, with AC unit, opening on to a pretty enclosed patio cum kitchen garden (horta). Large bathroom with good shower. Owner and other staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Simple but perfectly adequate breakfast for very small extra charge.
Review 12:I asked for a room for three and they gave me a room for four as it was available and didn't charge extra. They let us check out a bit late and store our luggage there and leave the car in their lot for no extra charge. The staff was nothing but friendly.
Review 13:The hotel is well-located. It's just a short walk to the Main Square. Our room was huge. We highly valued the staff customer service. They were helpful and friendly. We'd stay again if needed.
Review 14:The peaceful atmosphere, the thick walls, that allowed us to cool down from the heat outside. Trujillo is a perfect place to spend an afternoon and evening.
Review 15:Nothing!
Review 16:The hotel staff were enthusiastic, helpful and generally delightful. The hotel had great location and was in a charmingly adapted ancient building. The breakfast was a treat, in fact the staff brought us a basket of fresh oranges from a tree in their garden.
Review 17:Nothing at all

Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:Their parking is great. It costs some euros but being in the centre that's normal. The staff was very friendly. Not all of them spoke English but they tried to explain everything anyway. Gave some good tips and I even got some oranges from their tree when I left.
Review 22:No English speaking staff, interieur looked old, bed wasnt that comfortable.
Review 23:Location is perfect to visit the old town, room is clean and spacious, parking spot available for 5 euro.
Review 24:It was cold and although the room was warm it would have been nice to have a small mat by the bed. But a small criticism.
Review 25:The friendly staff, the decor, comfortable bed. As always, a very enjoyable stay.
Review 26:The hostal was in a very lovely old building with original brick arches. Car Parking on site at the back was really helpful. The breakfast was really good with lots of choice. The hostal was spotlessly clean.
Review 27:The key we were given to the front door did not work and we were locked out on our return to the hotel. We were unable to get in until some more guests appeared, their key unlocked the door with no problems. Make sure you have the key demonstrated to be working before you go out as the door is locked around 9pm and the plaza in front of the hotel is a cold hard place to sleep! Breakfast is rather basic even to Spanish standards.
Review 28:Room was basic but clean and tidy. Location great, just a five minute walk from the town square and a few more minutes from the castle at the top of the hill. Secure parking on site and the hotel is easy to find.
Review 29:the staff, the breakfast, the room with the terrace and the location in general. We did not use the secure parking as there was abundant parking in the area.
Review 30:The balcony was not of a small window but it did let some light and breeze in.
Review 31:A nice spacious room in a beautiful old building just a short walk from the main square. Great to have parking on the premises. The breakfast was amazing and great value for money.
Review 32:Casa San Miguel is a basic hostal, located close to the amazing old town of Trujillo. It offers clean simple comfort provided by very welcoming staff. Breakfast is good and there is plenty of good dining nearby. I
Review 33:Bathroom needed a shelf to put toiletries on. Showerhead had a will of it's own and had to be hand held, but plenty of hot water.
Review 34:Situated just minutes from the famous Plaza Mayor with very helpful staff and self service breakfast, this hostal is perfect for a short break. Very good value for money!
Review 35:Close to the centre (10 mins walk to square), friendly and helpful staff
Review 36:Private parking. Location easy to find and near plaza. Friendly staff. Outside space, garden. Good heating system. Beautiful building.
Review 37:Everything. Excellent!
Review 38:It was central, clean and did the job!! It had air con which wasn't noisy too always a blessing.
Review 39:Nada!

Review 44:Really good location and a very interesting building with lots of history. Comfortable and clean
Review 45:Bad wifi

Review 47:the showerhead was a bit strange.
Review 48:The place was beautiful, and the staff very generous.
Review 49:All was good
Review 50:Small, old TV.
Review 51:Good location close to the old town. No problems to find free parking close to the hostal. Nice staff.
Review 52:Location - great Building - historic Staff - very nice Clean and comfortable
Review 53:n/a - I liked everything.
Review 54:Outstanding in every way. A large, light room with a modern bathroom and a view onto a sort of patio-garden at the back, comfortable bed, good breakfast, excellent position (very near the centre, but quiet), and above all super-helpful people.
Review 55:I like to stand under a shower not have it at waist height. They might also invest in a pop up toaster so you don't have to spend breakfast time watching your toast brown under a grill.
Review 56:Comfortable hotel for the price. Heated room which was good as it was very cold.
Review 57:Far to basic and a mirror in the bedroom would be nice and somewhere to put your toiletries in the bathroom would be good.
Review 58:Very good parking and lovely character of the place.
Review 59:the building itself is a gem, the rooms delightful and comfortable We had stayed here before and actually organised our journey so that we could stay again The staff are so helpful and the breakfast real value for money
Review 60:The stairway to get in. We were going with an older person and it was quite difficult for her to climb the stairs everytime. A pillow change won´t hurt...
Review 61:Loved the place, very charming and very very friendly staff. We are definitely staying here again and highly recommend it to anyone going to Trujillo. Very close to the Plaza Mayor.
Review 62:A common language could be a problem and the entrance to the car park is very narrow but it is an old building.
Review 63:The Hostel was situated a couple of minutes from the historic centre of the town, which in turn was an hours drive from a National Park. the old town was delightful and the N. Park was splendid. The staff at the Hostel were very friendly although little English is spoken by them. The Hostel was very comfortable and ideally situated. There is lots to sight-see in the area.
Review 64:Lovely atmospheric little hotel, close to the centre of Trujillo with private parking. The warm welcome was matched by the interesting and quirky nature of the building. The rooms are simple and basic but comfortable. Unless you are looking for luxury, I would recommend this hotel to any visitor to Trujillo.
Review 65:5€ parking is excessive, but you can park outside on the square. Bed room 204 not comfortable.
Review 66:Location within walking distance to the Plaza Mayor. Good Parking. Spacious rooms
Review 67:Somewhat hard to find, due to the twisty nature of Trujillo's narrow streets. Best approached from the ringroad to the East rather than attempting to find it from the center of town.
Review 68:Very pleasant, helpful staff. We were offered a choice of four rooms on arrival. Beautiul building and delightful rooms. Potentially lovely, shaded garden (although currently not at its best due to work being done on it). Quiet location on a tiny square five minutes from the Plaza Mayor. Ample private parking.
Review 69:Staff was great. Went out of their way to help after an accident. Took me to local hospital and acted as translator with staff while stitch's were applied. Great 300 year old structure.
Review 70:We had a very basic room on the ground floor, which was adequate butrather spoiled by a cheap laminate floor. Wifi was intermittent and thebed only just ok. Breakfast was okay for the 4 euro charge but thepowdered orange juice wasn'T.
Review 71:Great position near the main square and very clean. An historic buildingwith exposed brick walls and vaulted ceilings. Decent value for money.
Review 72:After Madrid our first port of call on our trek round Extremedura and a very high standard set right from the start. The value for money is just off the scale. VERY friendly and helpful staff. Only thing is our room was a little pokey so if we visited again we would request a first floor room as they seemed to be a bit larger. Great little place.
Review 73:Excellent hotel & brilliant value for money with breakfast. Very convenient for everything. Nice balcony for last drink of the night. Secure parking.
Review 74:Algunas baldosas de la habitación estaban despegadas. Some floor tiles were loose.
Exellent value for money. The bathroom was big and the shower provided plenty of hot water. The historic center is very near. The breakfast included various homemade pastries. The landlady prepared some special requests for my pregnant wife and on Sunday offered Churros for everyone.
Review 76:My friends and I really loved staying at this hotel. It was located close to the city center, and the staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms were big, and the decor was really unique. I would not hesistate to stay here again.
Review 77:Everything was fine and good value for money
Review 78:Helpful staff who were always friendly and willing to serve Very Clean Warm and dry rooms Easy car parking in secure area Nice size bedroom and bathroom Lots of light in rooms
Review 79:A nice room with a lot of character. We had a balcony which overlookedthe square. The staff were fantastic. You can get breakfast for 4 eurosper person which was worth it. Overall, a great stay.
Review 80:I loved this hostal - and value for money - its amazing. We were in a gorgeous room that opened out onto the small garden, and the vaulted ceilings all through the place gave it a high quality and authentic feel. Staff were helpful and unobtrusive, everything was spotlessly clean and well kept. Location was 2 minutes walk from the Plaza Major. Really cannot fault anything about this place and highly recommend it to anyone.
Review 81:Access to the carpark is very narrow, no problem for us on a motorbike, so care has to be taken. You can always park infront of the building if you wish.
Review 82:A very friendly welcome on our arrival by a lady who seemed to do everything from cleaning to reception. She was very attentive, and spoke fairly good English which helped. She gave us a room close where our motorcycle was safely parked in the Hostal's open air carpark, which was both convenient and thoughtful of her. The hostal is well kept and convenient for the historic sights of Trujillo. This was amongst our cheapest stays in Spain, and ranked amongst the best.
Review 83:Extremely friendly staff, making us feel part of a family. They gave me a gluten free breakfast at no extra cost, brought breakfast to our room when we had sunburn, they washed our clothes at no extra charge, they gave us huge beach towels when we visited the local pool. The rooms are large, airy and classy. The location is in a small peaceful square just five minutes wall from the main square. Everything about this hotel was A+, but the best thing was the staff, who were absolutely charming. Excellent value for money, we are already planning our next trip here!
Review 84:Close to the heart of the old town, about 5 minutes' walk from the Plaza Mayor. Car parking available right in front of hotel (if you're lucky) or in private courtyard behind. Good air-conditioning. Watermelon at breakfast, and a big lemon tree outside my window! Nice to come back to after a long day out.
Review 85:Breakfast could have been better for 4 euros each, however you won't gohungry on it. Looking back I would have got a better deal in the plazza,Internet doesn't cover whole hotel. Air conditioning was noisy in ourroom. Otherwise great value for money
Review 86:The location was great, 2 minutes to the plazza mayor + easy freeparking. The staff was very friedly - they even helped us with luggage.Clean bed and bathroom.
Review 87:Access to the parking area was very tight but manageable with care
Review 88:A very historic building with all mod cons. Very friendly and helpful staff with a good command of English.
Review 89:Location was very easy to find by car.On-site parking reasonable and anasset.Only a short pleasant walk to the beautiful central square ofTrujillo.Staff very helpful and friendly.Room had all usual facilitiesat a very good price.Breakfast optional but very good value at only 4euros each.good vale for money, considering its location.
Review 90:Everything was good.
Review 91:It was well appointed and well situated, being close to the Plaza Major. Also safe parking was available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Review 92:Friendly informality, but attentive staff. My room led into thegarden/orange grove , which was full of chattering sparrows and lovelyblossom. Perhaps the garden should be more incorporated in the thinkingof the hotel and what it has to offer. I would have had breakfast in thegarden if this had been possible!
Review 93:We were offered a choice of rooms when we arrived and got just what wewanted a room with a view over a square a balcony and somewhere to parkthe motorcycle.
Review 94:An absolute gem. Red brick vaulted ceilings, bed very comfortable. Goodbreakfast, very helpful staff. Well situated for visiting the old town, which is delightful. We would go again.
Review 95:The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel, a remodalation of anold building, keeps the flavour of the old times and the room was justfantastic; sunny and with a view to the back garden full of orange andlemon trees. Positively recommended
