Reviews for Helsinki Central Apartments
Review 1:The apartment wasn't well looked after. It is such a pity because the apartment building is gorgeous and the location is really fantastic. 2 minutes walk and you are at the city center and the Senate Square. It need a bit of maintenance work. The curtain was off the hook. The sliding door to 2nd bedroom was off the slider so cant be closed. The handle of one cupboard was broken. The balcony was filthy and seems to have not been cleaned in ages. There were clumps of dust coming out from under furnitures. The key collection kioski ran out instruction paper in english on how to get to the apartment as well as address and phone to call in case of emergency. This is not acceptable at all. She gave us the Finnish version but we are non-Finnish speaking family so that was useless. We gave the cab driver the paper so he can take us there as we have no clue whatsoever.
Review 2:The location is really good. We took a cab there from Helsinki Central Station as we had 5 large suitcases and did not know where it is. Once we got there, we knew where we were. This is our 2nd visit to Helsinki so we are quite familiar with the city center. Everything was within walking distance.
Review 3:Took us a long time to get the key. We need to get the key from a little store inside the tram station. The store was hard to spot and the sign for key collection hard to spot.
Review 4:The room is big and clean. Detailed instruction to the location of department. Really big television with PS4 Good wifi reception. Perfect room for a big group of friends.
Review 5:Some of the facilities could have been thought out a bit better. There were no bedsheets, pillow cases or duvet covers. It was fine because the duvets seem new, but I feel a bit bad for the next set of people who will use them after me.
Review 6:The apartment was centrally located, very easy to get to and from the railway station. Perhaps the best thing about the apartment was that it's (or close to) brand new. It was very very nice.
Review 7:The staff in railway station didn't gave keys when we first stepped by. Very inconvenient procedure for travelers, especially when the railway station is not close to the apartment.
Review 8:Location is okay for public transportation.
Review 9:We are hours, it's very bad idea to have three different location to live.
Review 10:We book three apartment, only one apartment are same with pic, other two apartment are far away and poor.
Review 11:Feeling insecure before coming, but thanks to anyone's help the stay is alright. We nearly get into the wrong apartment since the apartment is divided into two storeys in 'A' and 'B' Luckily we come across some friendly neighbours.
Review 12:Nice Location. The first time I get the key from a photo shop. The kitchen is superb. like the environment.
Review 13:Entrance door a bit jamming. A wall socket for floor lamp not working. The basin for morning toilet is too small and positioned badly and users easily clash on the mirror cabinet.
Review 14:Good location
Review 15:Elevator is not working and we have to carry our bug luggables up to 5th floor!
Review 16:Pick up key at the kiosk at Central station is very convenience. There is also printed paper explain how to find the apartment.
Review 17:The name of the front door does not match the name on the directions once entering the building
Review 18:The location of the stay and the easy directions. The facilities provided within the apartment.
Review 19:Hard to open the door with the key, bad quality towel, unfriendly design of washbowl! And even the shower head is broken, or at least different to make it work with normal knowledge, and you even have nobody to seek help to.
Review 20:perfect location, very close to central station and business centre
Review 21:You have to really read the smallprint to see that checkin is only after for, but then you have to be out by 11. Not good, and probably only because they have to little cleaners. When we were still there 15 minutes after the cleaner was quite unfriendly. Also bed is too soft and cushions too big.
Review 22:This apartment (they're all different) was kind of funny 60's style. Close enough and nice to have a kitchen.
Review 23:It's a organization managing a group of apparments situated in central Helsinki and with and the standard of the flats and appartments is perfect for being as good as at home. Thank you very much
Review 24:picking up the key in a different place (fotopoint) was weird - also, the main lights weren't working, and since I only arrived in the room at 9pm, there was no one to call to.
Review 25:location, cleanliness, heating system.
Review 26:Apartment not quite what i saw before booking. Have to take tram, 4 stations away from central railway station & walked abt 200-300m to apt. Lift is so archaic - big enuf for 2 pax wif luggages & manual driven. Red indian theme decor not to my likings but booking.com insisted same apt i saw when i booked. How can i book this apt when i don't like red indian theme? Amazing...
Review 27:On booking Advert looks fantastic which is why went for apt and once booked apt given was very disappointing, tried to cancel in June but advised unable to cancel reservation. Had to wait outside main door as late check for key to be delivered. No one to ask questions etc
Review 28:When we booked the apartment, it says it's just 100meters away from central train station and you can it as soon as you exit the train station, but NOT true... It's probably more than 500meters away and it's not easy to find. It was good that we met this very nice Finnish lady who helped us out finding the place.
Review 29:Very spacious and clean By mistake i booked only for 1 night, but we needed for 2 nights. Our contact lady gladly assisted us to talk to the aparment owner to accommodate us 1 day earlier (we paid 2nights). We really appreciated that:)
Review 30:A little far from the central station which is not a problem if you like to walk.
Review 31:Cool apartment, clean bathroom, nice shower, tv , large bed- everything there made our night :)
Review 32:The drain of the sink in toilet was smelling because of the bad installation work. I had to seal it with tape because we could't deal with the smell. The closed air inlets in windows made the situation worse.
Review 33:The apartment was nice, tidy and peacefull and the location was good. The balcony was nice too.
Review 34:The decor was outdated and needs lots of DIY to get it to a better conditions (skirting boards needed a good old caulk, walls a lick of paint and so all the wood work)
Review 35:The location was perfect and the facilities were really good.Big kitchen with all the accessories, plates and pots. Well heated. Clean towels and sheets.
Review 36:It has some window insulation problem. It was a bit cold inside because of it.
Review 37:I loved the style of the appartment. It has a very good atmosphere. The kitchen is well-equipped.
Review 38:The thing with Helsinki Central Apartment is that you won't know which apartment you will get until you book. You won't know the location or which apartment's review to consider. You can only pick up your keys at a small KIOSK/Photo booth, which itself is not easy to find in the main train station. I arrived 30 minutes before 4p.m. in a rainy day with a 3 years old and my wife. The guys at the booth said that we can't have the key because it is not there yet and I should come back at 4p.m.We waited until 4p.m., and for the record, the key was always there. They are just not flexible to give it to us therefore they lied!We walked for about 30-40 minutes from the station to the apartment, climbed to the 3rd floor without elevator with luggages and stroller.First thing we found, front door handle was broken. Then a rush of awful smell immediately came from the apartment. The moldy, sewage like smell came from the bathroom which the door was broken and is unable to close (not mentioning about lock here, the door itself is stuck and could not be close, beware if you need privacy from friends or mates sharing the room). We have to open all the windows for some time and tidy up before we can breath normally. Floor is totally uncleaned, dust, body hairs (including private one, if you know what I mean) and sticky spots can be found everywhere on the floor, carpets were dusty and sticky as well, we have to forbid our small one from laying on floor or walking barefoot. The house even have posted rules on the door stated to clean up before leaving, or penalty could occur. In my impression, everything was left with intention to demand extra money from tenants as fee for damage.Tried to call by the provided number, but could not reach anyone. I then send a message through Booking.com while my wife is cleaning up the bath room and vacum the carpet.
Review 39:Nothing, except maybe location is OKish. But, better and cheaper options are available. We moved from SATO (way much better and cheaper) to this during our stay in Helsinki and it was our nightmare.
Review 40:Furniture is a bit old, but bed was ok. No bedside light. Could have done with some information as to how to find the nearest food-store. It's only a few hundred meters away and open til 23.00 but we went the wrong way..
Review 41:Clean sheets, quiet location. Everything you would want in an apartment.
Review 42:No proper beds, only sofas. A rather dark, ghostly building and Lift
Review 43:Compact studio with all basic amenities and comforts. Reasonably clean sheets, crockery etc
Review 44:the staff member were really nice; we got there late,at midnight! and the staff still was waiting for us there at the door, gave us the key, and give us some suggestion for traveling thru the city!
Review 45:Size of the bathroom and the hand basin. No dishcloths in the kitchen.
Review 46:The expansive size of the apartment and the decor, was very comfortable and well equipped for our needs.
Review 47:It said double bed on the website, we got two single beds one next to each other. Was hell to sleep together on them as they kept separating
Review 48:The flat is well located, nice and clean
Review 49:Perfect location in front of a tram stop (1km from central railway station), very clean and comfortable, all facilities (dishwasher, wash machine, dryer, iron, coffee machine, flat screen tv, microwaves and oven), very good price for a 3-beds apartment, very good wifi
Review 50:Lake of Salt, Pepper, Sugar, Olive Oil or even washing machine liquid. We bought some huge quantities and let them there for the next hosts :-) Please try to find a solution for the shower pipe smell.
Review 51:Good and safe area. Nice restaurant in the neighbourhood. Foods shops not far from the flat. Easy to go everywhere by walk. Quiet and full of light. I suggest it !
Review 52:Nothing
Review 53:A very good studio flat with all required facilities including coffee maker, Microwave oven, plates and cutleries A grocery shop is nearby Wifi worked well 15 minutes walk from the Railway station Although we arrived very late after midnight the key was arranged ( of course for a late fee of USD20) Ms Milla the person in charge during that day and who brought us the key was exceptionally helpful in giving us all required information for a good sightseeing in Helsinki as well as in Finland ( although it was around 1 am in the night)
Review 54:The apartment on Minervankatu was not cleaned well. Especially the shower was disturbingly dirty and there were also stains on the floor in the living area. The apartment is also very noisy - the downside of the old building is that you hear everything from upstairs. During our stay, the upstairs neighbours had a party until 4 am and we could have participated in the conversation from our bed, we could hear everything so well.
Review 55:The apartment on Minervankatu in Töölö was fairly newly renovated and in a charming old building. The location is very nice, the city centre is a 20-min walk away and the Kamppi shopping mall is even closer.
Review 56:- Staff is extremely inflexible. I asked for a change in reservation 5 minutes after I made one (by mistake) and got declined. - They make guests cleaning the whole apparent under threat of penalty (again - never mentioned in advance). - Location promised was a lie! Its a trick they specifically make - keys are taken from some random kiosk and you dont know where you will go before you are sent already. And no one to complain to.
Review 57:The location is fine, not too far from the city center. But I was promised with way better place - at the very central train station, according to the map on Booking.com.
Review 58:The kitchen facilities could do with an update. ( A few vital utensils were missing). I consider myself to be quite adept at the art of unlocking and opening doors- however the doors to this particular apartment proved to be quite a challenge to open. Be wary of the upcoming challenges you may encounter.
Review 59:The Finnish sauna was delightful to use. The instruction leaflet about how to use the sauna properly was very helpful! Good location and a nice comfy bed!
Review 60:On the first day you will not be allowed into your apartment before 4pm which for us was too late as we had arrived at 6.30am after a 25hr long haul flight. (Some hotels are 2 or 3pm )We had to find lockers in the train station as there is no place to leave luggage.
Review 61:These units are in close proximity to the city and vary in size. They are comfortable, clean in good locations. They are close to transport
Review 62:Some things were broken and in my impression, left with intention to demand extra money from tenants as fee for damage. Examples: door handle, shower valve. Carpets looked like they weren't vacuumed and my wife did it.
Review 63:We liked the location, as it was close enough to most of the places. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 64:Hard understand-Insturction to Wifi and curtains (there should be black-out curtains)
Review 65:Apartment was bigger than in a picture, sofa/bed was comfortable. A building was quiet.
Review 66:Could be cleaned more thorough: often used facilities were definitely clean but a lot of surfaces were very dusty.
Review 67:Conveniently located and big apartment.
Review 68:Unfortunately the apartment wasn't well looked after.. the curtain rail was hanging off the wall the way that we moved the couch to keep it from falling onto my son's head - good that we did as it did indeed fall during the night! The kitchen table had its legs sellotaped to the top, and the top itself had burn/scratch marks on it the way it made you feel a bit uneasy. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly, looked like a quick clean leaving the edges of the floor dirty. All minor things that could be fixed in a 1h visit and replacing the Ikea 50e table.. This apartment is lovely and the owners should look after the details to give it the credit it should have.
Review 69:The location in the city centre of Helsinki (Eerikinkatu) is fantastic, couldn't be better. The apartment is lovely with high ceilings, you really get to stay in an authentic Helsinki apartment.
Review 70:The rare days Finland is hot, the apartment is hot despite opening the window. A small air-fan would solve this matter. The sofa cover needs a wash.
Review 71:Good location if you want to walk basically anywhere in Helsinki down town. The price is quite normal, summer weekends the street can be noicy. A good choice for a couple with a short stay.
Review 72:Was a little unsure about picking the keys up from a kiosk in the train station but was very surprised with how easy it all was.would and most probably will stay here again.great facility.
Review 73:The check in place is the railway station, not walkable distance to the apartment especially since we are carrying a lot of luggage. It's very troublesome. Lack of luggage storage service too.
Review 74:A lot of blankets and beds. Large area. Elevator present.
Review 75:There isn't any body soap. There is a washing machine however without soap. Few fornitures were already broken.
Review 76:The position of the apartment is good.
Review 77:Cleaning should be arranged way better, especially bathroom area.
Review 78:Central location, quiet street, spacious apartment, a lot of facilities at kitchen. Good place for 1-2 nights
Review 79:It was the dirties apartment I have ever stayed in Helsinki. Some kitchen dishes were missing as well (e.g. coffee mugs). Definitely I am not going to stay in the same place once again and I do not recommend it. Lack of cleanliness and comfort can destroy your stay completely
Review 80:The location of the apartment was good. Good was also communication with the staff
Review 81:My wife had to spend 90 minutes cleaning the appartment before we could move in and sleep there. There was a lot of dust on floor in every room.
Review 82:(Tehtaankatu 19) Location, easy to reach by tram from railway station, nice appartment with cosy kitchen and new bathroom including washing machine,
Review 83:No parchment paper, paper towels, spatula (for cooking) or dishwasher tablets/powder in kitchen, things you expect and should be available. Also no soap at bathroom. Minor minuses, but still, you'd expect those things :)
Review 84:Location, convenience store almost at doorstep. Apartment was spacious, tidy and comfortable. We stayed at Museokatu 29, 5 pers. apt, really good bang for your buck indeed!
Review 85:Quite old building, old apartment, renovated time ago. No free parking places around - you can park on the street and during the night it is free, during the day it costs you 2€ per hour.
Review 86:Nice location - 10 minutes walk to city center. Good kitchenware, enough for self catering.
Review 87:Key pick-up very informal, making it rather confusing. Once used to the idea that you're picking up a key from a man behind a kiosk and he hands you a rather useless map of how to get to the apartment without exchanging one word it is actually simple to get the tram 4 stops and then walk for 3 or 4 mins before reaching apartment. Peculiar system, but on reflection rather nice. Washing machine placed in shower cubicle rather bizarrely. Fortunately unplugged.
Review 88:Location brilliant. Bed comfortable. Public transport easily accessible.
Review 89:That's 1.7km apart from central station.. I need to even take tram for 4 stops to get to the apartment. No food nearby. Also, extra charge if you check in after 9pm.
Review 90:Interior was cheap and quite bad. The booking site did not explain good that the 2-bedroom means that 3 beds was placed in the living room. Kitchenware was so bad (burnt and old) that I would never cook any food there. For this price, there are a lot of other actors in Helsinki that delivers much more value for the money. I have rented from 4-5 other actors in Helsinki, and this apartment is the worst by good margin when it comes to quality and value for money. In addition we experienced a water leak from the apartment above which was much unpleasant. If you are ordering beds only, and does not care about anything else, I guess this apartment is OK (but still highly overpriced compared to the competition). This property also failed at small things, like asking the guests to wash dishes before leaving. This is not a big problem, but again: this is included in the price at other properties in this price range. Staff was very nice, though
Review 91:Good location, nice staff, easy pickup.
Review 92:There are not salt and sugar. I didn't want to buy it to cook something, But if you eat out it's not a problem.
Review 93:Location is perfect. Everything is so close to( cafes, shop etc.). Stuff was polite and helpfull. We didn't have any problems.
Review 94:Disgusting apartment. Filthy kitchen and toilet/shower. Shower wasn't proper one (hand shower). There was also mold in the "bathroom". Service was unfriendly. It was mistake to take this apartment. Never again.
Review 95:Ok for few hours sleep between flights. Bed was ok.
Review 96:A liitle bit far away from the tram when walk with luggage, but is acceptable
Review 97:Clean, well furnitured staff was patient to answer so many quetions from us before our arrival
Review 98:LOCATED AT A DECENT LOCATION FROM THE CITY CENTER WITH EASY ACCESS BY TRAM. CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATION. LOFT BED WHICH COULD ACCOMMODATE 4 ADULTS WAS GREAT.
Review 99:Electric socket in bathroom was broken : it was impossible to take shower and to use washing machine. One dish plate was broken and wall clock not in working conditions. Very bad clearness of the apartment.
Review 100:The apartment was Spacious with many amenities. We were able to sleep all members of our party comfortably without having to stay in a youth hostel. It was also in close proximity to the central train station. Walkable for most people, even with larger bags.
Review 101:Greatest possible stay in Helsinki and as my and my fiends experience - better than most hotels in Finland in general. Easily best possible choice for place to stay and enjoy for yourself.
Review 102:Location was great in the downtown but still quiet. Key was easy to get from central railway station. I visited on one night by myself and I will book this again.
Review 103:Didn't check the email in advanced so got some troubles when tried to find the place.
Review 104:The studio is nice and tidy. Enough space for more than one person. Free wi-fi and cable and all the possible cookers you need. 2 mins walk from tram. Around 10 mins walk for the center.
Review 105:There were some problems with the bathroom sink, but the heating system in the floor was very useful.
Review 106:The appartment has a great location, in the core of the city. Free wifi, with the possibility of taking the router with you in the city. The possibility of early check in.
Review 107:I have never seen a dirtier and a more disgusting place to stay, specially considering the price!! The curtains were so dirty that wecould not touch them without getting dust into the face! Wrong infosabout everything! 1. They put wrong information on the website - kind ofcheaper prices, three stars (although its an apartment), but in the endyou pay 30 euros more! 2.Extra fees for the late arrival!!!! Youdon't see this info before you have booked! In the end it was evenmore expensive than a three stars hotel at the central railway station!3. Distance! The cheated us saying that it is at the central railway station - we had in fact to walk 1.3 km to get to that apartment. 4. NO BED! TWO SOFAS, which we had to put together! 5. Bathroom looked like after a war. We could not wash the hands, because the water from the sink was immediately dropping to the feet. 6. Toilette was so stinky that I cannot even describe.
Review 108:Everything was horrible. Seriously
Review 109:Far away from the "Central" of Helsinki. Very inconvenient to take the key in central station and then travel to the actual location of the apartment, especially when you have a large luggage. The Television is out of order, clock is not working, bathroom with out curtain.
Review 110:The room is quite clean.
Review 111:The curtains were terrible, we found it really hard to get to sleep because it let so much light through and getting changed had to be done in the bathroom. Finding the keys was difficult as there wasn't an obvious sign or kiosk (They're at the photo shop in the train station for anyone else who's looking). No lift meant having to carry a heavy suitcase so be prepared this might happen.
Review 112:The location was good as it was a nice area of the centre with plenty of cafes and restaurants near by and easy to walk to town. We loved the room and the space, it had all the facilities we needed, would have been even better if we had been staying more than one night.
Review 113:The floor had not been cleaned. The roadmap did not had the apartment number and i need to call to get the number.
Review 114:Location was very good. The house was quiet. The street noise did not disturb.
Review 115:Do not stay in these apartments!!! The beds were filthy, full of hair as were the 'clean sheets'. We had to remake all beds with the scraps of sheets in the cupboards and hope not to catch anything serious. Nothing at all as described or pictured. Plates in the kitchen were crusted with food, and the apartment overall is horribly worn and bleak. Location on Iso Robertinkau is mainly peep shows and sex shops, uncomfortable to walk past at night. Heating doesn't do anything. Bathroom is incredibly dangerous. You have to use a stepstool to get into a high old bath, which I nearly slipped and fell from every night, and there is nowhere to put the showerhwad, so you have to balance, crammed into a half bath, half frozen trying to use a hand-held shower. If we hadn't already paid, we would have walked out. The worst.
Review 116:Leaving.
Review 117:the cleanliness of the room is sub-par; the toilet is clogged the first time we used; got unnamed charged into credit card without any communication beforehand
Review 118:A location is situated in close to tram station, just a few minutes walk; antique (and interesting) elevator
Review 119:Bed was terrible!! Old and noisy and with every move doring the night u are awake because the bed is moving too... Light in kitchen didnt work and two lamps in the leaving room neder. And Kitchen wanr really clean .
Review 120:They thing the most I like was the treatment of people contact with us because we had a problem with the lock of the door in the middle of the night and they went in 10 min to fix it. They give us also lot of blankets and towels and they were so friendly with us and they explained me how to go to the apartment very well.
Review 121:Apartment shall be cleaner! Rest food was in the deep freeze, front plate of a drawer in the kitchen was broken, toilet was not really clean.
Review 122:Location is good. The heating and WiFi worked well.
Review 123:Photos in Booking had nothing to do with reality. This apartment was not well kept at all: pieces missing from walls, window handles stayed in hand, overall dirty place.
Review 124:Was extremely convenient that we could use the apartment from early on. Location was ok and price was cheep. Sheets and towels were clean.
Review 125:very confusing to find, luckily there was someone else going in the apartments. the apartment was in block b but you went into c to get there? there was one plug in the kitchen this was used by the wifi. the bath was so high my mum could not get in and it was a deep but 1/4 size one, quite expensive for what it was
Review 126:it was located not too far from main town
Review 127:Agent- lied that it is that close to the central railway station. It was an agreement that they will play around the schedule of the arrival meaning to say that they will give ample time for us to be there.but the host insist that we pay the late arrival! The apartment is filthy not safe to use anything we might catch some virus!
Review 128:Absolutely nothing
Review 129:Need to get key from other place first very inconvenient to those who has a few luggages... Very old building, small bath room, only give 2 towels for 4 ppl before I asked for, no management on site, no luggages storage of course.....
Review 130:1.Bathroom is too small and doesn't have anything like sampo, soap. 2. Heating condition is no good because we were cold at midnight. 3. Check-in time is very uncomfortable because it is 4 pm. Normally, 1 or 2 pm is the other hotel and apartments. So we can't keep my luggage and take a brake. 4. No parking area 5. Key have to pick up central station. This is really really very very uncomfortable.
Review 131:Toilet has cigarette smell and bath area looks like it needs some revamp.
Review 132:A Neat and Tidy apartment with great view and is near the tram stop. Room is neat and clean. Though the kitchen is quite small, it has everything (Utensils, Microwave, Hot water boiler..etc) Wifi is a plus point too though the bath area has many yellowish stains on them. View from the balcony is great too.
Review 133:The apartment we stayed in (Hameentie 6) was a very pleasant surprise: cosy, modern, spacious. A Finnish style we enjoyed a lot. My son fell in love with the big screen in the living room area and he tried all the PS3 games!!! :D I appreciated the kitchen and dining area, especially the stove and I also liked the lights fitted under the wooden sofas in the living room or the great table in the dining area. Some wood, some paint and a lot of imagination, creativity and good sense can result in such beautiful things! Our only regret was that we spent just one night there, as we were travelling to Rovaniemi to meet Santa (we were waiting for our connecting flight in Helsinki,so we only spent a few hours in the city...).
