Reviews for Parador de Ávila
Review 1:of course the road access is narrow and parking limited - but we were lucky to fit the car in this time.
Review 2:A fantastic location and interesting building.
Review 3:Nothing really just minor niggles, like the small bathroom not enough room to turn round, and I know it is in a very old building but the floor boards were very squeaky inside and outside the rooms.
Review 4:The position of the hotel was excellent inside the city wall. we had HB and both the dinner and breakfast were good value. Avila itself is a very historic and interesting place, pity we only had the one night there.
Review 5:The best part of this Parador is the staff. Like all paradors it's very comfortable and the food is quite good and typical of the area. However the shortage of rooms with a double bed is irritating for a solo traveller.
Review 6:Room just above one of the side roads, hence noisy most of the time Head waitress handed bill and stood waiting for payment - not terribly friendly
Review 7:Room very spacious and beds very comfortable
Review 8:We have been fortunate to stay in many Paradores, all unique and fantastic. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be perfect!!!! Please note.
Review 9:Wonderful paradore in a stunning historical setting.
Review 10:Location and atmosphere was very peaceful, quiet and calming. The staff was excellent. They were very easy to assist me when I left an important item in my room by accident and they shipped it to the address of my choice in a timely manner.
Review 11:Great atmosphere in a beautiful city. Hotel was in a great location just inside the walled city. All the staff were great but in the restaurant we had a superb feast being attended on by very attentive waiting staff
Review 12:The service at the bar was understaffed and extremely slow.
Review 13:The location is superb, parking is available for which no need to worry about where to leave the car on this delightful yet crowed old town.
Review 14:We loved the location and thoroughly enjoyed Avila. We were not impressed with the dining room (we stood at the door for 5 minutes and they never even acknowledged us; I don't think we were dressed to their standards). We did appreciate the availability of parking. We treated this as our 'splurge' after 3 weeks of standard hotels and bnb's, but found we had just as nice places for much less money elsewhere.
Review 15:The wifi was very weak and kept dropping and should be made stronger and more reliable. It is very important in this day and age.
Review 16:The location was wonderful and the Parador excellent
Review 17:Wi-Fi reception was not that good in all the rooms.
Review 18:If you know what parador means in Spanish, than you know how staying in this hotel is. Location is very nice, in the corner of old walls. Stuff is very friendly and helpful, the room I have was very spacious with nice view, but I was on the top of the tower. Hotel have small park attached to it, where you can chill. All in all truly enjoyable stay.
Review 19:Parking a bit cumbersome, as well as the luggage haul, due to uneven staircases.
Review 20:Comfortable lodgings in a beautifully reconstructed convent, ideally located relative to the cities historical treasures. Very nice staff.
Review 21:Lacks a bit in style compared to what I have experienced in other paradors. Breakfast disappointing - little selection, mostly sweet cakes and coffee from a machine.
Review 22:Great location just inside the impressive city walls of Avila.
Review 23:If you arrive in the evening, your first impression is that you are in the middle of nowhere - but the town is so small, that in five minutes you can reach places with some life. Both in attitude and in design the hotel lacks some personal touch and individuality to call it excellent - but it is quite good.
Review 24:Reasonably sized room, park, breakfast.
Review 25:With warm October weather, our room was too hot. The air-conditioning system had been set to heating, so we slept with the window open. The small street outside had noisy people until the small hours and at 5am the rubbish collection and street sweeping started resulting in a very poor night.
Review 26:Great location within the wonderful walls of Avila. Parking worked ok. Gardens, good breakfast.
Review 27:Staff at reception weren't particularly welcoming. Room was clean but certainly not luxurious. The furniture looked like it had seen better days. I asked for a quiet room but was placed overlooking a parking lot and noisy road. I would not stay here again.
Review 28:The parador is in a good location within the city wall. The common areas of the parador are quite attractive. Breakfast buffet is generous.
Review 29:nothing
Review 30:everything didnt have breakfast just coffe e still served with smiles brilliant location and instructions to find hotel were first class and helpful free parking at rear of building
Review 31:Staff could have been more friendly, helpful and warm.
Review 32:The terrace garden for drinks, reading or tapas was perfect. Rooms large and clean with comfy beds and the all important air con. Great place to start our holiday.
Review 33:Nothing, it was great experience.
Review 34:Well appointed large room proximity to sights. good choices at breakfast Room situated at top of the tower was unique
Review 35:Room a bit noisy ( not the fault of the hotel, the car wheels on cobbles!) and the furnishings could have been a bit more "in keeping" with the location and historic building.
Review 36:The most lovely patio and gardens under the walls of Avila, and the restaurant serves the best olive oil I've ever tasted.
Review 37:parking is limited but you can pay a small amount on a meter for public parking Side rooms can be noisy with the traffic leaving the centre of town
Review 38:Easy to find. Lovely location within the city walls. The knight in armour in reception. Easy walk up to the main square.
Review 39:Why no pool? There is a large garden outside where a pool could easily fit?
Review 40:I was disappointed that there was no swimming pool in the Paradores in Avila. Having said that, though, I enjoyed our stay there and the usual high standard of comfort, efficiency and cleanliness. And character.
Review 41:The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. For the price we paid, this needs dealing with. Also there was no soap in the bathroom on the first night.
Review 42:Situation was good and the bar!
Review 43:Great location, cosy room with a view and a unique building.
Review 44:Location and comfort of room

Review 104:If you are looking for the perfect Parador this is it! Fantastic location, full of history, wonderful friendly staff, fabulous garden, lovely restaurant, really good food.
Review 105:Set menu came with no vegetables with main course. Nice meal but we don't like just a plate of meat, although I did have a small amount of rice, my husband had three small baby spinach leaves and half a tiny tomato.
Review 106:Comfortable beds. excellent location. Attentive, friendly staff.
Review 107:Our air conditioning did not work at first but they fixed it once we let them know.
Review 108:The parador is inside the walled city. The staff were helpfull. The building and garden are quiet. The showers are great. Lots of pressure and very hot water.
Review 109:I'd wish for more comfortable pillows, but it's really minor complaint.
Review 110:Location of the hotel is to die for, beautiful designs, very clean, and the food in the restaurant is just excellent.
Review 111:Took a long time to get checked in after a long journey. Staff seemed more intent on answering the phone rather than dealing with customers waiting. One member of staff talked on the phone the whole time we were being checked in.
Review 112:Great location just inside the walls of the city. Both rooms and breakfast were good.
