Reviews for Alpen Roc
Review 1:We were not all inclusive so difficult to eat there. Better choice of pay for meals would be good.
Review 2:Really pleasant staff and really nice to have the heated pool, spa etc
Review 3:Soundproofing in between rooms inexistent, so you can hear people next door going to the toilet. General built quality of hotel and decoration cheap, poor quality. Rooms and bathrooms small. Not even a glass in the bathroom for your toothbrush, just a disposable plastic cup ! Wifi slow and you kept having to re-enter long code...minimal staff presence. Rate of 260 euros per night for double room far too much, way overpriced
Review 4:Hotel's central location is the only positive point
Review 5:Neither sauna nor steam room were functional during visit. Room had a musty smell. Triple room was still very small for a family of 3. Minimal breakfast for additional price. Slow but free WiFi
Review 6:Centrally located in La Clusaz for easy access to all ski lifts, shopping and restaurants. A decent buffet style dinner at night. Staff was accomodating.
Review 7:Wifi was supposed to be 24/7 throughout the hotel but it was very unreliable and very slow when it did work. I did complain. Workmen starting at 6:30 am on the floor above, scraping furniture across the floor, banging and using power tools. I did complain. Pillows look good but are very uncomfortable - 1x too thin, 1x very fat and hard. Bad nights sleep every night. Dogs in the restaurant and actually at the table on people laps. Unhygenic. Dog poo (presumably from dog guests) outside the front door, that wasn't cleared up during our whole 4 night stay. Communal toilets were aged / grubby and didn't seem very clean. Dubious stains on the carpet in the room.
Review 8:Location was convenient for one of the chair lifts and the upper and lower areas of the village.
Review 9:Free wifi hardly ever worked and staff seemingly didn't care despite numerous enquiries. No tea or coffee facilities in room Could do with a good refurb
Review 10:Clean, decent location
Review 11:Wifi was terrible. For sending emails, none of the standard ports worked, so had to use my dongle at additional cost. Furthermore, it was slow and frequently it was stated that maximum number of users had been reached so could not be accessed. There is no excuse. Shower did not work, but that was corrected fairly quickly.
Review 12:Food, albeit self service, was good and the staff were always helpful.
Review 13:For a 3 star hotel paying 400 eur for a night (2 pp room), it's overpriced from a price quality perspective. No mini-bar or 'water bottles/accessories' in the room nor bathroom. No problem, but for 400eur a tat off. The parking is said to be free and you can't reserve but during peak season you might not get a spot as they are limited, so be prepared. Going to a floor above level 2 requires changing lifts. No big deals and it was listed in prior reviews so you know what you get. Spa was nice but small and sauna and steam room had a (too) low temperature, perhaps to make it kid-friendly. Still good to have and they have the opportunity to put few accessories/decoration as well as towels out there to improve the experience quite a bit at little costs.
Review 14:A hotel with friendly staff, clean room, simple but good breakfast and well located to ski (300 or 500mtr walk to ski lifts)!
Review 15:Basic room, very basic bathroom, really basic restaurant (e.g. breakfast buffet), none of which can justify the 275 euro/night billed.... and that was excluding that breakfast buffet.
Review 16:Staff, location.
Review 17:Wifi was annoyingly unstable and incompatible with some products.
Review 18:It is a short walk to lifts and the village square. The view from the hotel was incredible.
Review 19:The family room is a little bit smaller than expected. But the service is good.
Review 20:The service and food are good.
Review 21:The bed sheets smells
Review 22:The location and the staff are excellent.
Review 23:Staff very welcoming. Food plentiful. Accommodation a bit dated but comfortable. Perfect location.
Review 24:Food should be improved
Review 25:The Location
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:Great breakfast and the pool is amazing. The view is wonderful!!
Review 28:The room had an unpleasant smell
Review 29:I made a mistake with my booking which I discussed with the hotel immediately. They were intransigent about helping me.
Review 30:room was fine
Review 31:The sauna and turkish bath was out of order.
Review 32:Very close to the ski lift and center town.
Review 33:Bar staff often went missing
Review 34:Great breakfast and a good central location close to lifts
Review 35:Room was awkward. Carpet was disgusting ned was small.
Review 36:Staff
Review 37:Change the breakfast & Lunch and dinner Because the diet without change WiFi is very bad
Review 38:No iron and iron table available in the room No gym Not the best custom service
Review 39:No" facilities for making hot drinks" as indicated by Booking.com were provided. Initially the poorest rooms were provided, but after complaining much better rooms were given
Review 40:Location Breakfast and dinner were pretty good, although dinner was self serve.
Review 41:The food was appalling. The evening meals, which were buffet style, were more like the kind of food you might have found in a provincial 1960s British motorway service station than a 21st century French ski resort. The one saving grace was the option (only after you had been there one night) to eat at two (not bad) restuarants elsewhere in La Clusaz. We took this option for the remainer of our stay. Because of its location, against the slope of a hill, the hotel had an odd layout, making it necessary to change lifts to reach our room.
Review 42:It was not too far from the main ski tows.
Review 43:The front desk staff was not up to scratch compared to the rest of the hotel experience. They did not give an informative standard introduction to the hotel, such as breakfast location and times, dinner buffe, pool etc upon arrival. Instead we had to figure things out ourselves and call with questions that could easily have been avoided. There was no information binder in the room with general information about the hotel either. I would recommend the hotel to look at how other hotels manage their general information/ communication to live up to a three star standard.
Review 44:Great breakfast and dinner buffet. Lovely room with plenty of space for a family of four. Bar and restaurant staff as well as cleaning staff were excellent and friendly.
Review 45:The situation of the hotel is not ideal for skiing . The closest lift is only 250 m away but necessitates negotiating a very steep ramp and climbing 47 steps , certainly not ideal with a young family . The breakfast is poor value for money .
Review 46:Rooms were clean , staff helpful. Poll small but warm .
Review 47:-very limited parking options....so we had to park in the village, which is not great
Review 48:-Very nicely renovated rooms, feels like in a chalet -location next to the center, close to bars/restaurants/ski lift
Review 49:Poor breakfast, too expensive for 3 stars hotel, sauna/hamam/bar don't work when there are few guests in the hotel
Review 50:Good location, free wifi and parking (at the city parking). Very nice buffet dinner
Review 51:The stay was wonderful. Good views of the mounts. Away from the hustle bustle of Annecy (around 30 odd mins by car). The hotel had a great breakfast buffet and we could pack sandwiches for lunch as well . Some renovation was going on but the experience was good.
Review 52:Couldn't get internet to work on last morning. The steam roomwasn't very steamy.
Review 53:Booked to see the Tour de France. Perfect location. Liked thecomplimentary beer, wine, cakes in the evening. The spa area was nice.Staff was excellent and very helpful and they allowed us to check inearly because they had a room available.
Review 54:It was a shame breakfast wasn't included in the price. Noisy lift doors by Room 415... bearable but did seem noisier than other lift doors. We had a small family room; ok for two people but cramped if four people in there. Beverage tray not very sturdy.
Review 55:Great location. Staff very willing to help. Rooms very clean. Terrace/balcony by restaurant for sitting in the sun and enjoying the views. Good selection for breakfast. Drink and cake mid-afternoon.
Review 56:it looked a little shabby in places, the curtains had seen better days in our room but it was all spotlessly clean.
Review 57:the hotel was friendly and comfortable with nice little touches like a little cake or biscuit with drinks in reception in the afternoon and hot drinks in the bar. the staff couldnt do enough to help from the cleaners to the reception and dining room staff, rooms were clean and comfortable and we had a lovely mountain view over the village.
Review 58:Nothing really. Once or twice there was no one in the bar and I had to go looking for someone to order off of, but not really a huge tickey item for me.
Review 59:Liked that there was a ski shop on site. Would suggest that you expand your merchandise
Review 60:The decor was not great, especially the reception hall - when we firstarrived it did not feel very welcoming or warm. Though the staff were!Otherwise we liked it very much.
Review 61:We liked the very friendly and helpful staff at reception, the excellentfood, the comfortable beds, radiators in the bedroom that you couldcontrol yourself (on, off, up or down etc),plenty of hot water, strongshowers, and having ski and boot hire on the premises. Also the gamesroom! We felt that the hotel had focussed on getting all the importantthings right.
Review 62:It is a bit expensive for what it offers...but I guess this comes with the season and the location. Some minor hassles: the bathroom water does not flow well, the TV programing was a bit off...
Review 63:I chose the hotel for its location and because of the Best Western label. It provides all the required basics for a mountain resort three star hotel and is therefore quite functional.
Review 64:We didn't spend alot of time at the hotel (arrived late, left very early) but were lucky enough to be there (by coincidence) when an equestrian event was on. The atmosphere in town was fantastic.
Review 65:Rooms very low standard and in need of renovation, terrible smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor all the time although fortunately the smell didn't come into our rooms. No hair dryer in the room although it states on the website that there was (although we got a portable one from reception).
Review 66:Location, good selection at breakfast. Ski Equipment Hire service in the hotel.
Review 67:The room was very small and dated. The bed was a fold up bed with anuncomfortable mattress and the hair dryers really ought to be replacedfrom the 1960s machine on the wall. Also, the pool was tiny andunfortunately during our stay, the sauna was out of order.
Review 68:The ski hire shop being next to reception was excellent and a realbonus. The bar had fantastic views, was cosy and offered complimentarynuts and olives. A lovely welcome. Excellent location right in the heartof La Clusaz.
Review 69:Bedrooms fairly tired and bathrooms beyond tired , definitely needs arefurb in this respect.
Review 70:Great Location, public areas bright and appealing. All in all good basefor a weekend skiing .
Review 71:Sauna and steam room are a joke. Both are all ridiculously small, 4-5 people at best, which for a 7 floor hotel is... not enough. Facilities are also a bit old and not maintained, overall not a pleasant experience to use them. Swimming pool is completely pointless, its not big enough to swim in it, and not warm enough to just sit around. We were on the last floor of the hotel, and we had to take 2 seperate elevators so it takes a while to go up/down.
Review 72:Good location, 5min walk to the lifts, close to shops, restaurants. Ski rental right in the hotel though a bit limited in equipment. Nice breakfast but at 13eur per person bit expensive. Reception desk 24/7, late arrival was not a problem at all.
Review 73:The room was very small and the price was excessive. We had to take 2 lifts to get from our room to reception which was very inconvenient.I have never been to a hotel before and told that I am unable to buy wine from the hotel bar. The staff misinformed us on a number of occasions.
Review 74:The hotel was very clean and centrally located. The bar had nice views.
Review 75:Rooms were very small and service in bar slow. Uphill walk from the town on way back to hotel is hard carrying skis after a day on the slopes. Expensive room only but we did stay between Christmas and New Year.
Review 76:Staff generally friendly. Onsite ski hire - Skiset which is useful. Great view from the bar and restaurant down to the village and of the mountains. Good continental breakfast but costs 12 E Free WiFi.
Review 77:Wimming pool facilities Staff were very helpful
Review 78:None
Review 79:Nice hotel with excellent facilities
Review 80:The main courses offered for the evening meal.
Review 81:The pool (though small, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room in the basement were cool.
Review 82:The limited dinner menu, a fire alarm at 2:00 AM.
Review 83:Location, very helpful staff, lounge, in-house ski rental service.
Review 84:location for ski lifts
Review 85:Nothing .it was great.
Review 86:Wanted short ,good value ski break and it ticked all the boxes .very impressed .
Review 87:Very basic room accommodation
Review 88:Clean, ski hire in hotel and good service from staff
Review 89:Shower room door was working properly.
Review 90:Very good value for money and plenty of space within the rooms. Staff are very helpful.
Review 91:2 lifts to get to room and given number of rooms we had to climb the stairs a lot
Review 92:Good room but basic and lighting a little poor
Review 93:Wifi is slow
Review 94:Location was fantastic and the breakfast and dinner buffet was good value. We had an amazing view of la clusaz from our room
Review 95:Rooms tired, very expensive for what it is. Bar closed at 10pm?, Wifididn't work.
Review 96:Good location
Review 97:Price rise of 14 Euros/day/person from same period of last year.
Review 98:Staff, location and spa facilities.
Review 99:No value for money!
Review 100:Location
Review 101:Nice location, friendly and helpfull staff.
Review 102:Rooms are small. The bed very very uncomfortable and didn't fit for a couple. Very noisy
Review 103:Breakfast. The ski storage. The location.
Review 104:The bar was unstaffed with little knowledge of how to serve a decent drink.
Review 105:Reasonable location with free parking.
Review 106:Small room, not value for the money.
Review 107:Very friendly and helpful staff!
Review 108:Rooms cramped, breakfast extra.
Review 109:Pleasant, friendly, clean, free sauna/pool etc
Review 110:location
Review 111:Location to ski in out was too far a distance. Rooms were small, old fashioned, worn out and worst the rooms smell unpleasent, not ventilation.
Review 112:Rooms were small and difficult to find.
Review 113:Closeness to the skislopes. Friendlyness staff.
