Reviews for Le Chatellier

Review 1:not walking distance to the city center, hotel is close to a busy road, be sure to get a room away from the road

Review 2:Large room, large bathroom, comfortable bed, beautiful garden, large grounds, relaxing environment, lovely pool

Review 3:We could not get a taxi from local resort hence a 20 minute walk. However this was not a problem overall

Review 4:It was a very pleasant surprise the whole set up was charming. Nearby beaches and restaurants were all excellent.

Review 5:We received an upgrade when we checked in from very friendly staff. Lovely quiet hotel, great facilities in the room, very comfortable bed, bathroom excellent. Will definitely visit again.

Review 6:Room is basic. Wifi only works in lobby.

Review 7:We just moved from a luxury chateau to Le Chatellier. They are very different. I booked this hotel because everything was sold out, and I had almost no other choices. The hotel is very basic, but the room is clean and quiet. If you have limited budget, this is a good choice. it value for money.

Review 8:The addition of a coffee / tea making facility would have been a bonus, especially as the main hotel was so far away

Review 9:The decor is superb, and the toiletries were very good

Review 10:Claustrophobic and damp room. No fridge in the room (for that price?) Small "patio" right in front of a bush blocking the view. Limited reception service. Away from village. Not confortable at all.

Review 11:Peaceful and calm hotel

Review 12:Our room was seriously small. It would not be a problem if you were just on a weekend from Paris, but we were on a 5 week trip, and there was simply no place to put our two bags except on the floor partially blocking access to the wall side of the bed.

Review 13:The property is gorgeous and the breakfast buffet very nice. We stayed here to et Cancale seafood and do a day trip to Mont St Michel, which was a good plan.

Review 14:The air in the room was a bit stuffy when the window was closed. The room was a bit small.

Review 15:Pretty and calm gardens Clean room Great bathroom with extras Friendly staff

Review 16:At the moment - Sept 2014 - the restaurant is closed. This did not bother us but it may influence your decision so best to check.

Review 17:The hotel is a bit out of Cancale but at the bus stop outside the hotel there is a reasonable service to Cancale and StMalo. Service 5 - look it up!!

Review 18:Not within walking distance of Cancale, which we had realised. Restaurant closed due to illness whilst we were there, so couldn't dine in at night. Not a major problem for us, it meant we ate at lunchtime, but it could have been for others.

Review 19:Pleasant room with sitting area, nice outdoor terrace, good shower. Excellent breakfast in a very interesting dining room. Safe private parking.

Review 20:In spite of a room looking over the road and up in the attic with beams likely to knock you on the head, we loved the stay. The breakfast was the best we have had in Europe, with juice, fresh fruit/muesli and we were able to cook our own egg on a small stove. Great.

Review 21:Grand style, in impeccably kept surroundings. The best breakfast we had this trip - shame the chef was sick so we couldn't try dinner (but applause for closing the restaurant in those circumstances).

Review 22:Noise from the road, the pool was ice cold, there were no pool towels, the bathroom was tiny, the room was in an annex building.

Review 23:The receptionist gave us an electric kettle to borrow.

Review 24:Room 12 could do with with a bracket to hold shower head up on wall.

Review 25:Very clean and well presented room. Staff helpful. Lovely location in semi-rural setting.

Review 26:We were very disappointed to fine restaurant was not open on Friday night in June, we hoped to spend afternoon on Cancale and then enjoy peaceful dinner. Bedroom was very compact.

Review 27:Liked the TV sofa add on with access to terrace.

Review 28:Bit of a walk to breakfast fortunatly not raining.

Review 29:Excellent breakfast. Very nice room beautifully decorated.

Review 30:Very noisy room on busy road.

Review 31:Great breakfast

Review 32:Friendly staff and very comfortable room

Review 33:Relaxed and beautiful grounds of the hotel. Friendly staff. Walking distance to town & great supermarket nearby.

Review 34:Room too small. Hit head more than once on roof. Right by road traffic noise all night. Too hot. Long walk to breakfast. Never again.

Review 35:Going home

Review 36:The receptionist

Review 37:The decor

Review 38:small rooms in attic

Review 39:Breakfast Surroundings Pool

Review 40:Rooms incl bathrooms very small. Not unusual, though, for Bretagne

Review 41:Nice and quiet. Landscape and animals. Rural touch. Nice gardens

Review 42:The farm setting was lovely. Cancale is easily accessible to the major sites in the area. We loved the sitting room in our suite.

Review 43:No kettle and teacups in the room

Review 44:Comfortable large bed, spacious downstairs room, very nice bathroom, very nice garden and environment. Good WiFi.

Review 45:The internet reception is not great.

Review 46:Fabulous place, gorgeous rooms, very clean and comfortable, yummy toiletries. We did not try the breakfast so cannot rate it. However we were extremely delighted with our stay and will definitely stay there again if ever go back to Canacle.

Review 47:Loved the shabby-chic decor, the peace and quietness, the surroundings and the garden, the horses...wish we could have spent more time on the premises. The owner lady was very pleasant, helpful and professional.

Review 48:We were told we wouldn't have to book into the restaurant, but found it was booked out when we arrived at 7.30. It is also too far out of town to be able to walk everywhere. Room was a bit small

Review 49:Nice French-style decor. Plenty of garden area and parking space. Nice inviting common rooms downstairs to share with other guests but no tea or coffee provided.

Review 50:The Hotel has comfortable rooms just on the outside on Cancale and St Malo is only 15 mins drive away. The setting is tranquil with goats, horses and chickens to watch. Use of the pool in the hotel just next door great, very clean and towels supplied was a bonus. Restaurant there had a very high standard and the waiter was very friendy, the best service we had received all week on our trip away. Menu at little pricey but was definately worth it. We would go again.

Review 51:Nothing really, apart from squeaky door (on room 1!)

Review 52:Lovely house in peaceful gardens. On arrival, told we were able to use jacuzzi and swimming pool in nearby hotel - surprise bonus! Very good selection of items for self service breakfast

Review 53:Arriving late at night caused a slight problem with checking in but we did cooe

Review 54:The food and the staff in the resteraunt were excellent if a little pricey . The fact that this was located a short walk away from the Bedrooms proved a nice advantage.

Review 55:having to check in and out at the neighbouring hotel, although we did get a ride on a golf course to get us back to our hotel which was a first for me. the staff member seemed stressed when we checked in as she appeared to be doing everything at both hotel. things much better when we left when more staff member were around.

Review 56:the hotel is in a lovely rural position but only 5 minutes away from the sea. the room we stayed in was very nice, more like a 3 star really, tasteful decor, very nice bathroom, a sofa in the bedroom made it a very comfortable stay.good value for money. use of a swimming pool.

Review 57:The hotel is in the grounds of Manior des Douets Fleuris. We were kindly shown to our room by the receptionist from the Manior, but in Le Chatellier we did not see one member of staff. No bar, no tea or coffee facilities, very impersonal, no atmosphere whatsoever. Also, not suitable for walking into Cancale. No pedestrianised walkway until you are about half way there. We tried, but had to go back for the car. Not really suitable if you want to go to one of the magnificent restaurants on the front and have a lovely meal with a bottle of wine or 2!!

Review 58:Rooms very nicely appointed, very clean and comfortable.

Review 59:Excellent staff and beautiful grounds to relax in. The room was comfortable. Good base for visiting this special part of Brittany. Excellent restaurant attached. Seafood a speciality.

Review 60:We had a room with a bad, and there was no shower curtain. This would bring that particular room to the perfect standart.

Review 61:The whole picture, everything was perfect.

Review 62:Nothing really. You have to follow the signs for the restaurant which isunder a different name, to find the place as that is where reception islocated and they are partially hidden by vegetation.

Review 63:We had two enjoyable nights at Le Chanticleer which is located on theoutskirts of Concale, so you need a car but well placed to visit St Malo, Mt St Michel and the nice town of Concale which is famous for oystersavailable at all the restaurants along the harbour front. So we ate onenight 'inhouse' and one down by the port. Our 'prestige'room was ground floor and very easy access from car parking just outsidewith a discrete sitting area for watching tv and looking out on thelovely garden. It is run in conjunction with a restaurant servingexcellent food, and located in a separate building with more upmarketaccommodation. Staff were great and happy with bathroom, shower and bed- the basics.

Review 64:Simple but chic decor in a secluded semi-rural setting. The room wassmall but perfectly adequate with a room over looking the old orchard. Ashort walk down the drive to the dinning room where the food wasexcellent. We had dinner one night and that was definitely gourmetstandard. Our french inot brilliant but the staff helped us and in anycase mostly their English was good.

Review 65:Rooms a bit small, no tea making facilities (but then we are English....!)

Review 66:It was so peaceful and tranquil, the rooms were spotless and the breakfast terrific

Review 67:The reception area of Le Chatellier smelled of cigarette smoke.

Review 68:When the heating/hot water were found not to be working, they upgraded us to the associated three star hotel Le Manoir des Douets Fleuris which was lovely - so we didn't actually stay in Le Chatellier although we saw the room we would have had which was fine.

Review 69:The check-in Process, was not in the hotel, but in another hotel onthesame site, 200 m distance - Les Duets Fleuris - were we stayed and had agood dinner.

Review 70:L'ambience

Review 71:The restaurant is a bit pricy and you don't have an opportunity to make tea or a small lunch in your room. We bought some plastic plates and napkins to have our own oysters and champagne night - a must do when you're in Cancale, the oysters are great.

Review 72:The overall impression is very good. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable and the staff does everything to make you feel at home. They only have 2 stars, which is probably due to some facilities not being there (I didn't miss anything), but the comfort of staying is just wonderful. You have a small separate sitting area in the room, with a couch! The location just outside of Cancale means that you should have a car, but I would advice that anyway in this area - they have plenty of good parking space also. Most of the staff speaks English. Even the cleaning ladies tried it, though I was better off trying my French - we did get the WiFi to work though.

Review 73:There is nothing that we didn't like. However, if we had to suggest improvements it would be to have a fridge in the room for cold drinking water or a bottle of wine! The road on which Le Chatellier is quite busy so would also suggest a room at the back, if at all possible. However, all in all, this hotel is excellent value for money.

Review 74:We had a wonderful stay at Le Chatellier. The location is very convenient for touring in North Brittany. All the staff were welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We had a prestige room which opened out onto lovely gardens. The facilities of the Manoir with excellent breakfast are also available, if you wish. We would definitely return.

Review 75:room and shower quite small.

Review 76:the room was absolutely spotless and the garden is large and beautiful. just a few minutes drive to the seafront restaurant area. Breakfast is well worth the extra €9 Cancale itself is a small town of many interesting places to visit.

Review 77:Really friendly staff at the hotel and they were very accommodating. Wehad originally booked into the 2 star part of the hotel, but on arrivalwe decided to upgrade to the 3 star in the Manor for a bit of extraluxury. Rooms are very clean and the breakfast is good, so we decided tostay an extra night! Room 21 is lovely.

Review 78:A little fridge or access to ice would have been appreciated (for our champagne and oysters, of course! - when in France...), and facilities for making a drink.

Review 79:This is a very pleasant hide-away on the outskirts of Cancale, ideal for a coastal break without the hassle of staying in the town. A very warm welcome from a charming lady allowing me to blunder along in French! The room, a premium suite, was lovely - fashionable decor and spotlessly clean with a sitting room space giving access to a further seating area through glazed doors. Very attractively laid-out and maintained grounds complemented the accommodation. An excellent shower too, which is crucial, a very comfortable bed and good bedside lighting. We would certainly return and recommend the upgrade.

Review 80:This time our bedroom was one of the smaller ones in the past we have had a slightly bigger room

Review 81:The charming staff, lovely grounds and truly superb breakfast

Review 82:Our chambre was very clean, comfortable & well-appointed. The bath wasvery clean with elegant, modern fixtures and nice towels. The breakfastbuffet had an array of good pastries & bread, fruit, cheese, cold cuts, and hot bacon & eggs -- & more. Myriam & her staff were quite kind andhelpful. Dinner was excellent -- with a number of good cheeses.

Review 83:Room was noisy so we were able to change it.
