Reviews for Manoir de la Marjolaine

Review 1:everything was perfect...from the antique furniture and paintings on the wall to location and garden....big room and big bathroom..very nice breakfast and tiny prices...this place is the best you can get

Review 2:This is an impressive and beautifully renovated house. We were upgraded to the fabulous Marjolaine suite room at no extra cost, with stunning views of the grounds from our four windows! Secure gates to the property gave plenty of safe parking on site. Excellent and plentiful breakfast. A lovely stay!

Review 3:About 2km from centre of town ( bars and restaurants). So a bit of a walk, no on site facilities bar breakfast. Our suite themed ' Out of Africa' only had a bath....a shower would be a good improvement.

Review 4:Large suite after a friendly welcome. Nice breakfast.

Review 5:Regret that there was no possibility to have a seat in the garden. No terras with table and chairs to sit and relax, to read a book ...

Review 6:Quiet place , nearby the beach ...

Review 7:We were greeted in both French and English by Eric. The location was superb giving close access to beautiful beaches. It was a faultless but too brief a stay.

Review 8:A number of things. First there was no functioning WiFi. This is a major travel expectation in this day and age. It should work well and be availble as advertised. After spending much frustrated time with host, we were finally told to go down town to a church where free WiFi was available. Other quest were having same complaint although the host said WiFi was working great. Then he said it must just be our I-pads. (They are new and have worked everywhere else we have been). The morning we checked out he finaly admitted that it was his routers fault after all. He had fixed it the day before and did not let us know. I still do not know it it worked or not. Second, if you get put in the "out of Africa suite" You will have to put up with a Strong, and i do mean strong urine smell. I think it is coming from plumbing in the room. Opening up all the windows helped marginally. Other issues were a lack of attention to detail such as lights hanging from ceiling by wires and ply wood/boards stacked on rooms Deck. These are issues that should not exist for a room this expensive. I also was not impressed with the host (male) attidude. He appearded to not much care for his job. His wife was pleasant though. I would not stay here again, nor would i recommend it. Especially not for the price.

Review 9:We like the location. The grounds are nice and beautiful. The rooms are large.

Review 10:Spotty wi-fi service in the rooms at the top of the house. No soap left in rooms. Eric (the owner) can be a little abrupt when you meet him first, especially if you don't speak French.

Review 11:Excellent breakfast with nice service. Close to beaches, including the D-Day battlegrounds Interesting family home that provides a different experience to staying in a bland chain-like hotel.

Review 12:late standard time for breakfast (although it was served earlier on request!)

Review 13:Nice classic athmosphere Large room Price Good Restaurant 'next' door

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:Everything was a nice surprise to us, from the setting of the building (in a large garden/woods), the room (we got the out-of-africa room which is clean, spacious and well decorated), the services as well as the breakfast (nicely done and set out). We just regretted that we stayed only one night in the area and started to plan for a return to Cabourg and stay here again!

Review 16:It was a good half hour walk fron the centre of Cabourg which would be a draw back if the weather was bad and you didn't want to use your car. A little more attention to detail is needed in the rooms, we had no milk with our tea or coffee and our tray was not replenished or cleaned on one day. Some people might not like a cat wondering around.

Review 17:The lovely old Manor house was set amoungst the trees in a quiet location. The French style breakfast was excellent, with some nice touches. The rooms were very individual and a nice comfy bed and loads of hot water in our spacious bathroom (Rose bedroom ). Tea and coffee making facilities in room. We had a very enjoyable stay overall.

Review 18:The owner felt it below himself to even acknowledge our existence, we even had to ring from the gate to be let in as the intercom didn't work, dangerous electrics, it is definitely not 4 Star, doesn't even have a bar or a phone and the Television is only in french eg. no satalite so we could find out current news, our view is that it would not make a 2 Star rating in England

Review 19:The location and the lady who served breakfast

Review 20:The quality of the building. The breakfast was superb. Location - once you found the place it was about 400 yds to the beach - a 30 min walk into the town centre. Nice cat (23 years old).

Review 21:No restaurants or bars nearby and it was a 5 minute drive into the town.

Review 22:Historic house which had been renovated tastefully. Several different standards of rooms depending on requirement. Beautiful large gardens and a walk to the coast. Superb breakfast.

Review 23:Room is rather small. Not. very kind staff. More facilities in the garden would be nice (terrace, chairs,...)

Review 24:Good breakfast! Beautiful house, near to the sea

Review 25:nothing

Review 26:Friendly people and great food

Review 32:Welcoming was a bit cool.

Review 33:Nice big room, lovely building, quiet but well located

Review 34:The shower was a little hard to use.

Review 35:Beautiful room, nice breakfast

Review 36:We left some clothes behind in the wardrobe. Eric posted them back to us promptly, even before we sent him the money!

Review 37:Had to tell the owner what time we would be arriving as they don't live on site. Not always easy when you are on a week sight seeing trip.

Review 38:Lovely location for an easy walk to Caborg but not in the centre.

Review 39:The reception we received from the host was cold and indifferent. When we passed him in the garden in the evening, he treated us with disregard. In the bathroom there was a handheld shower without a wall mount so it was rather inconvenient. There was also no shower curtain. The rubbish bin was not cleared for 2 days.

Review 40:The hostess whom we met in the morning at breakfast was very pleasant.

Review 41:We missed the sign and passed the manor several times.

Review 42:The manoir is charming and our room (set up for three was both charming and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice. It is also quite close to town and restaurants.

Review 43:We were not impressed with Cabourg. The downtown waterfront is populatedwith highrise apartments, condos and hotels. The main street has anumber of nice restaurants but the city is significantly lessinteresting than Honfleur.

Review 44:Classic historic French manor with spacious grounds. Easy access to thebeach and numerous restaurants. Good off the street and secure parkingnext to the manor behind a locked gate. Great breakfast with veryfriendly and helpful staff.

Review 45:The owner/manager is at the limit of politeness; almost unpleasant--a pity.

Review 50:Distance to centre and very little staff.

Review 51:Chosen for its real French appeal in a lovely setting. Large suite waslovely. Really good value for money.

Review 52:I thought the owners could have offered more assistance with finding facilities for laundromat washing, i thought a little unhelpful with our queries. Breakfast very basic. Otherwise a good experience.

Review 53:We were upgraded to a bigger bedroom which was great.

Review 54:The bed wasnt long enough for my husband( 6ft 1ins) and his legs hung out of bed. The stairs were plentiful and steep and it was painful climbing up and down and carrying suitcases

Review 55:A period hotel very well presented and the staff were helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was very good.

Review 56:Breakfast not served until 9am which was a little late for us.

Review 57:Safe and secure car parking for our classic car. Within easy walking distance to beach, town centre and restaurant. Breakfast good .

Review 58:The mattress could have been more comfortable Milk was not provided for the coffee and tea in the bedroom

Review 59:The waitress at breakfast The size of the room The atmosphere of the building

Review 60:Very poor breakfast. Far from the restaurants.

Review 61:Large and nice room. Quiet place. Close to the beach.

Review 62:Value for money if you had a rental car.
