Reviews for Carlina
Review 1:I had an accident skiing while there and the lift stopped working at 7.30 at night which could be a pain. Could have been a little more variety at breakfast.
Review 2:Hotel was lovely, staff really nice especially Violetta. Only had breakfast but New Year's Eve menu was lovely, couldn't fault it. Would def recommend this hotel
Review 3:Gym is not really a gym. It is part of the sauna so hot, humid and impossible to exercise in. Wifi worked badly in the room Decor is a little dated
Review 4:Staff was excellent and incredibly welcoming. Restaurant was good food at good value with a fantastic wine list Swimming pool is nicely sized and well maintained
Review 5:Room was small but we expected that and in reality was not an issue with plenty of hanging space and a good size bathroom.
Review 6:Started the stay with a very friendly welcome that set the tone for the whole stay. Room had a view facing the slopes which gave a fantastic start to every day. Made the most of the pool after each great day's skiing. Overall, a very pleasant stay. Location was great with a 5 min walk down to the main lifts / town square / restaurants.
Review 7:The evening menu (half board option) was a bit pricey.
Review 8:We had a fantastic view from our south facing room. This is a very comfortable hotel. The swimming pool was lovely but you have to pay for use of the sauna/jacuzzi. If you book your skis with Sport 2000 you can store them there for free.
Review 9:No real complaints at all
Review 10:Great views from balcony & room on floor 3. Not too far out of centre. Best thing were the really excellent Menu de Jour evening dinners. Great value. Are in every one of our 3 nights. Pool was great. Bar was very nice with lots of space & classy. Loved the hotel. Ticked all the boxes for us all.
Review 11:Minuscule room for 3 people at an exorbitant price. No professional staff - the receptionist doubled up as the barman, made cocktails whilst referring to a recipe - at over €400 a night, it was a joke.
Review 12:The hotel (reception, bar) the staff (they were friendly but ALL beginners) the food
Review 13:Our room was very small for 3, seemed to be a 2 bed room that an extra single bed was put in!
Review 14:Location great amazing view from balcony, lovely pool.
Review 15:The walk back uphill to the hotel.
Review 16:The resort is really good.
Review 17:Room too small
Review 18:Staff, breakfast ,facilities A place in the village to leave skis and boots
Review 19:Size of triple room and being charged extra for using facilities. Room rates where expensive.
Review 20:Staff and location
Review 21:Bar / lounge closed quite early and when we returned to the hotel after eating out, everything was shut up with all the lights out. Only one small light left on. Nowhere to sit and relax with friends. except a dark and gloomy foyer.
Review 22:Lovely position above the town but within easy walking distance. Friendly helpful reception staff. Excellent breakfasts in a spacious comfortable dining room with great staff. Lovely terrace with modern furniture - delightful place to relax during the day.
Review 23:Overall an underwhelming and disappointing experience. Staff appeared to have very little engagement with guests compared to many hotels I've stayed in (even more 'basic' hotels make more of an effort). It all felt very functional and charmless - you felt you were just one of many guests that they have had to endure over a long season. Fair enough but for c. 200 e per night you expect a little more effort. A lovely bar is a wasted opportunity: nearly always empty - in part because the bar was never managed and the fire was rarely blazing. Charging 12e pp per evening for fairly mediocre (eg broken whirlpool) spa facilities contrasts markedly with other ski hotels. The wifi was really dreadful - barely existent on the 2nd floor and dial-up slow downstairs. Seriously in need of an upgrade (And no this wasn't due to our devices - all working fine in other hotels on this trip). Walls were paper thin - mostly fine as people tend to knock off early when skiing but there was one 'moment' we felt we shared with our neighbours... A real shame because this could be an excellent hotel you just feel it needs stronger management.
Review 24:Sweet little rooms, excellent view of town and mountains. All wood - very cosy. Kept clean overall. Staff efficient and helpful overall. Pretty good breakfast spread. Good measures on the whiskey!
Review 25:Small but adequate sized room - no different to what I was told in advance - and I expected.
Review 26:Friendly and accommodating staff, clean room, great breakfast, right in the middle of La Clusaz, and swim / sauna etc to boot
Review 27:The Carlina is expensive in relation to its facilities. Our rooms and bathrooms were small. The shower was not very powerful. The lift was small and shabby. There were extra charges for the jacuzzi and underground garage. The rooms were not serviced until after lunch and sometimes as late as 4pm.
Review 28:The hotel has a good location within walking distance of the centre of the village of La Clusaz and its shops, restaurants and ski lifts. There was a good view over the village and the mountains from our balcony.
Review 29:I did not like the fact of paying more rthan 300 eur/night for avery crappy room which can only be qualified as a "CHEAP guestHOUSE" room. It is about time people in france take lessons insouth east asia on how to price rooms and treat guests ...
Review 30:Nothing. Except maybe the breakfast which was included in the price.
Review 31:Limited choice of food at breakfast
Review 32:Friendly hotel staff. Easy access with parking in front of hotel. Nice room, with modern bathroom. Free wifi with strong connection
Review 33:- The hotel is a bit pricy (200eur per night per room) so additionally charging for sauna is unfair
Review 34:- Beautiful, highly traditional mountain hotel - carved wood, French Savoyard decor, logs on the fire- Good location - Hotel has arrangement with a sport shop where you can deposit your skis not to carry them through the town - The town itself is very picturesque with lots of lovely little wooden restaurants
Review 35:Rooms too small Wellness - bit crowdy, not convenient with closing ofdoors by means of key
Review 36:Great view from the room Excellent location Good service
Review 37:There is nothing that we didn't like about the Carlina....it is anexcellent hotel. Surprizing that it is not rated as a 4 star hotel. Welook forward to returning again in the future.
