Reviews for Auberge De La Calanque
Review 1:Breakfast was mediocre. Fresh fruit very limited - apples, oranges - nothing interesting. Coffee out of machine - rather disappointing
Review 2:Location and views. Get a top floor. Quiet pool even though full.
Review 3:The breakfast became very predictable and unexciting but was always beautifully presented and fresh ... a little variety from day to day during a 7 day stay would be very welcome though.
Review 4:The location, elegance and whole experience of staying in such a lovely hotel was superb. Rarely does one find a hotel which is so beautiful but unstuffy and the rooms were extremely generous. All of the staff were polite and very welcoming.
Review 5:Unfortunately due to the location near a main road there was some road noise in our first floor room and also I was woken several times in the night by people shouting in the street below. The rooms were dated with stains to the headboard and broken cupboard doors and could do with a refresh.
Review 6:The hotel, converted from an old hospital has a good location near to the town centre. The room was large, swimming pool warm and staff friendly. Average breakfast.
Review 7:No complaints
Review 8:Lovely hotel, excellent location close to the centre of Le Lavendou. Beautiful views. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice pool, never too busy but a little shallow.
Review 9:There was nothing about our stay and the hotel we didn't like.
Review 10:Everything about our stay was wonderful. The hotel itself, the staff, the welcome on arrivals from the service. Just wonderful. Thank you.
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:It is charming hotel with old times smell. In my opinion, the most beautiful hotel in Le Lavandou. The view of the port is really outstanding and enjoyable, air conditioning works properly, there are enough of sunbeds around the nice pool area. I read in some reviews that the sunbeds are worn, but they had to change them. They are new now. I do not mind that the classic room is small ( I have known before), and if you are not a nitpicker( some parts are rusting), you can spend very pleasant time in this exceptional hotel.
Review 13:We did not have any issues.
Review 14:We loved the Town and the Hotel. The town was just the right size and full of nice smaller shops and restaurants. People were friendly. The hotel was beautiful and in a perfect location. The Hotel staff where friendly and helpful.
Review 15:THe hotel is clearly struggling to remain in top league. Exterior painting has been abandoned at the half-way stage. Under-staffed. Pool area looking a bit shabby. Towels a bit thin and greying. Cheaper rooms are substandard and in real need of an overhaul.
Review 16:the Superior double rooms with seaview and terrace (most expensive rooms) are excellent. Large, newly refurbished, bathroom and separate dressing room, fabulous large furnished terrace with wonderful view. Bright and airy entrance lobby and breakfast room
Review 17:The reception gentleman was wonderful - charming and helpful. The room was small but we forgave anything when we saw the balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens pool and harbour. The hotel has a great feeling - it's old but very stylishly decorated. We loved it and want to return soon!
Review 18:Address should not be given as "Ave General De Gaulle" ...it is on Ave Ide. Moreover, De Gaulle is also a very narrow street to navigate in a car. A Tea/Coffee kettle in the room would be welcome.
Review 19:Location; breakfast; helpful staff
Review 20:Watch the parking - best to reserve a place for peace of mind.
Review 21:Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a very convenient location. Room was spacious with a nice balcony and view.
Review 22:The double bed was two single beds pushed together. One bed was uncomfortable. One was good. The breakfast was an extra cost, as was the parking.
Review 23:The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotel was unusual and nicely decorated. An old world feel to it.
Review 24:The breakfast is very french. Would be good to have coffee - croissant breakfast at a reduced price.
Review 25:The view from the terrasse, the individual structure of the house. Even some german TV chanels this year. This was already our third time and we will certainly come back.
Review 26:This long established hotel is in an excellent location, the hotel is clean, comfortable, the room we had was small but with a view of the sea and port. Outside there is a decent pool if you do not like the beach.
Review 27:Building looked a little grubby but nothing a high jet spray couldn't improve. Room was roomy but in need of a bit of love. Lampshades a bit tatty.
Review 28:Staff were friendly and helpful. We skipped breakfast at the hotel but did a morning run to one of two local bakers to pick up fresh pastries and juice. Loved the view from our room and our own corridor from the hall to our bedroom. Spacious bathroom.
Review 29:Was in need of refurbishment, looking a little tired. But didn't diminish our enjoyment. Breakfast had a coffee machine ..... In France ... A machine .... My husband was aghast. Terrible !!!!
Review 30:Location was excellent. Staff were lovely and very helpful. View of the marina was excellent.
Review 31:Tiny room, no towels at the pool and towels in room were very old. Pool loungers ancient and often broken, needing renovation.breakfast expensive.
Review 32:Helpful staff, close to shops and restaurants, but beach though close was very busy.parking better than expected. Nice views right in the action.
Review 33:WiFi required log on every time.
Review 34:Location very good. Staff went out of their way to be helpful at all times. Our room for two adults and a 12 year old was not too cramped. WiFi worked in our room.
Review 35:Small dislike the gravel that you have to pull your cases through at the car park
Review 36:The charm of the Hotel. The Staff were very helpful especially Sara she was so professional and had great English. Our room was great and a door that opened out to the pool .Swimming Pool was good and the hot tub was a nice touch. It is a little gem.
Review 37:The hotel is a bit tired but it has loads of character and is excellent value for money.
Review 38:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect with beautiful harbour views. The proximity to the old port; parking; swimming pool made this the perfect accomodation.
Review 39:Very well located hotel with great views of the marina and sea. Great pool. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 40:great location near port and beach. Lovely room. Very nice staff
Review 41:Excellent location with super views across the bay. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Good swimming pool.
Review 42:Parking can be a problem if one has not reserved a space
Review 43:A very friendly and comfortable hotel peacefully situated close to both the town and the port
Review 44:Paid Breakfast, Standard of Rooms.
Review 45:The Pool, View & Location
Review 46:The pool, the bar and the views from the balcony
Review 47:Room and halls needed renovation.
Review 48:Great location across from the sea. Public areas very nice.
Review 49:we have been going back for over 20 years. The location, staff and pool are fantastic.
Review 50:Parking may be difficult. We were lucky, but parking around the hotel is difficult.
Review 51:Excellent location. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 52:Difficult parking (very limited)
Review 53:Location, location, location and fantastic building
Review 54:PAYING SEPARATELY FOR BAR AND BEACH MEALS
Review 55:THE POSITION
Review 56:Loved the location and the hotels architecture.
Review 57:Decoration in bedrooms needed updating 10% VAT on hotel bill, but not on your quote!!
Review 58:Swimming pool location Reception rooms
Review 59:Location and pool. Been going for years and love it.
Review 60:We have been going back for 20 years. That should tell you have great it is.
Review 61:Breakfast could have been improved with better quality fruit juice and fresh fruit, otherwise ok
Review 62:Location and views excellent
Review 63:Breakfast was very poor! Decor was old and tired. With a bit of effort, this place could be best in Le Lavandou. We had to leave a day early and the management still charged us, even though I told them the day before.
Review 64:Location was great. It meant we didn't have to use car in evening. Walking into town was so easy and lovely to saunter back after supper. Parking facilities good. Our room was nice and airy with good air conditioning.
Review 65:Room very tired, clean as it could be but very small. Tiny bathroom. Almost impossible to use loo and close door, so tight. Curtains quality of shower curtain, hooks broken, difficult to close, no mirror other than bathroom, patchy cheap carpet tiles. Public areas really quiet without atmosphere. Hotel has potential but needs massive investment.
Review 66:Location good, staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 67:The fact that we had to leave and could not stay longer.
Review 68:Friendly and helpful staff, a spacious comfortable room with terrace and fine sea views. A swimming pool with loungers to relax on. The nearby town and beaches.
Review 69:Breakfast is very french. A renovation of the rooms and the entire buildingwould be desireable.
Review 70:Location, wonderful view from most of the rooms, we had 15, which is for three people and therfore more comfortable for 2. Last time we had 28, which was small. The pool is very nice..The whole building is also very nice.
Review 71:We loved the style of the hotel, the beautiful architectural design, the friendly staff and of course the location, just opposite the port and also very centrally located. It was a very relaxing stay and we would go back if again in the area.
Review 72:This hotel is very charming. The lobby and breakfast room have old-world charm. Close to the beach or its own pool. The room had a cool, retro look with a terrace that had a great view. Would come back here.
Review 73:Rooms were not cleaned thoroughly and sheets were not changed on a daily basis unless you required it specifically to the front desk. During the summer it gets quite noisy around the port at night. At one point they had a disco until 3AM. Breakfast was overpriced, can get cheaper deals at bars in Lavandou.
Review 74:Location is great. Rooms are a little oldish, but comfortable. We liked a lot the terrace and the view on the port. The hotel is only a 5 minutes walk from restaurants, beach and port. The pool area is also a nice plus.
Review 75:Bathroom didn't have a shower curtain, so the whole bathroom became very wet. Not a problem, just odd!
Review 76:a real old-fashioned hotel in the true sense of the word: charming, thoughtful and soooo helpful.
Review 77:No wifi in the rooms, only available near the reception. Poor breakfast.
Review 78:Great location, just outside city center and near the harbour/beach. Lovely old building. Really nice with pool!
Review 79:Rooms were way too small, carpet on the floor, poor shower in the tub without any glass wall or curtain.whole bathroom got flooded everytime we took shower. No fridge in the room which was really hard during july. Very expensive for the standard.
Review 80:View from the room. Employees at the hotel.
Review 81:If you have a car you do need to book a space at the hotel as there is nowhere nearby to park. We unfortunately stayed the night of the Fete de la Musique, which was great to a certain extent in the evening but not the throbbing noise until 3am.... but that's not the hotel's fault. Breakfast is a bit on the weak side.
Review 82:Great location only minutes from all restaurants. Hotel and rooms are very spacious and great view over sea and harbour. Large balcony to sit out and enjoy the view. Friendly staff. Good swimming pool.
Review 83:Only few minor niggles. Parking was a little limited but we were lucky enough to get one of the free spaces on the hotel forecourt. Wifi was free but only obtainable in the reception and bar area. Breakfast fare was very basic for the price.
Review 84:Lovely hotel in fantastic location, our spacious room was on the 3rd floor with a balcony over looking the harbour. The staff were unobtrusive but always friendly and helpful when assistance was required. The hotel was generally well maintained with a lovely garden and pool. Breakfast in the dining room overlooking the garden and pool was a relaxed affair and very quiet as many guests seemed to prefer breakfasting in their rooms or sitting on their balconies.
Review 85:Very small bedroom with even smaller en-suite. Toilet was tiny, very limited room, a tall person would find it very difficult. Safe in cupboard didn't work so unable to lock up valuables. Hotel generally, could do with updating.
Review 86:Location good.
Review 87:The hotel is tired and needs some updating, the rooms are shabby There isa music bar near the hotel that kept us awake until 3am every night
Review 88:The location, The staff are helpful.nice gardens
Review 89:No refrigerator in the room.
Review 90:Excellent staff. Nothing too much trouble. Thank you to all the reception staff (Bart and Marc, and the French/English lady), and to the very friendly and helpful lady who served our breakfast each day. Truly excellent people. Very good value hotel. Close to everything. Parking available is very good. English papers. Nice little bar. Wifi available, and works. We will come again.
Review 91:The hotel is a traditional seaside hotel, so the room furnishings are dated and there is wifi in the lobby only so it's not top end luxury.
Review 92:Brilliant view of the seaside from the room with a nice balcony that had a table which you were able to have a simple but nice breakfast on. Rooms were very large. Very close 5 minute walk to the beach and town. Parking was easy right out front, but it wasn't busy at the hotel at the time.
Review 93:Had to pay 8 euros for parking one night as no free spaces though iftold could have parked up the road for free if told. Breakfast at 10euros very expensive
Review 94:Great location, friendly staff, fantastic sea views
Review 95:Nothing, it was wonderful.
Review 96:Beautiful old building full of character, location was fantastic, beautiful views, very close to restaurants along the beach and very close to town, great shopping and staff very friendly,
Review 97:Past its best! Breakfast poor value. Although reception area clean and welcoming rest rather scruffy - flies in breakfast area!
Review 98:Comfortable room with balcony and splendid view over harbour and out to sea.
Review 99:Missing hair-dryer Poor/slow wifi connection Moquette cleaning
Review 100:Location Room space Beautiful garden Swimming pool Bed extremely comfortable Quiet
Review 101:A little away from other towns but for us this was not a problem aswe had a car

Review 110:No longer has a restaurant Pool opens late 9.30 am Rooms very tired needs an update
Review 111:Fantastic views lovely location Good swimming pool
Review 112:Building much in need of maintenance No wifi in rooms
Review 113:Really friendly and helpful staff
Review 114:Room a little small for the price but ideal for short stay
Review 115:Air conditioning was excellent and staff very good
Review 116:Really good location and nice little town.
Review 117:It would be helpful for WiFi to be available in rooms and not just in Reception.
Review 118:Breakfast too pricey
Review 119:Everything!
