Reviews for Le Continental
Review 1:No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but we' ve decided it's a French thing so no big deal.
Review 2:Host Christophe and his wife Julie made our stay an absolute pleasure. Their restaurant was a remarkable fine dining experience in this small village, and we were right in amongst all the action. Excellent!
Review 3:We arrived 30 min before check-in time at 3 pm. Reception was closed and note on door said to call one of 3 numbers. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful with these telephone numbers with our US cell phones. We returned an hour later and reception was still closed. We had to walk up the hill to the Cancale Information Office, fortunately it was still open and 1 person spoke English. We had her call and tell them we had arrived and were attempting to check-in. There was only one person available for check-in at that time and he was busy. It was a bad situation for us just arriving from US and it was raining. Restaurant was not open every day; fortunately there are lots of other places to eat nearby. Paying for parking was also problematic in that this office was closed when we were ready to leave.
Review 4:Receptionist was apologetic. Location.
Review 5:Our room looked out on a hill path. The only way to get privacy was to close the metal shutter which blocked out daylight. Curtains would have been appropriate.
Review 6:Ccane is a lovely village for 2 days of very fresh seafood .parking around the corner (public) is convenient. The hotel is O.K. But nothing to rave about.
Review 7:Location, water view, comfortable room, and did I mention location? It was a fantastic stay, and I would recommend this hotel. Easy access to the oysters, cafes, shops, and downtown Cancale.
Review 8:Staff a bit serious but very welcoming. Can understand some of the negative reports but not substantiated by us. Everybody courteous and helpful. Room clean and comfortable and hotel generally very acceptable. Will stay there again.
Review 9:Location Room Comfort Cleanliness Contradicting negative views
Review 10:The Mrs was friendly and greeted us with enthusiasm. However the Mr was short, impatient, and almost rude to us. the food was bland and served with an attitude.
Review 11:The location was perfect.
Review 12:Staff rather unfriendly. Pretended not to speak any English and refused to try although we spoke a little French. We did discover they spoke English when they thought we were leaving without paying!! Stay at the hotel as it is a good property but eat out and avoid the staff!
Review 13:Great location, clean and comfortable
Review 14:Bathroom quite cramped but hey, this is a charming typical French town hotel. Would have spent far more money there if they had a more exciting menu for the evening and ambiance (felt a bit stuffy) but chose to eat at more interesting places up and down the waterfront instead.
Review 15:The owners went out of their way to help us as we arrived at a very unkindly hour. Location is perfect and by far the best place to enjoy Cancale and surrounding area. Breakfast was truly fantastic and very healthy.
Review 16:Superb Harbourside location. Large room with great views. Very good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 17:Breakfast was very good but very pricey
Review 18:Superb sea view and closeness to the oyster farms
Review 19:None
Review 20:This is a friendly, highly professionally run hotel with an excellent restaurant perfectly positioned on the Quai. Christophe's acclaimed palette ensured we enjoyed beautiful food and wine.
Review 21:Everything Good.
Review 22:Fantastic location for walking around Cancale. Brilliant views of the bay from the room. Very clean and excellent staff. The restaurant served excellent quality food at an affordable price. Well Done.
Review 23:Nothing really;maybe a bit more lively but we cannot get everything and its contrary
Review 24:Location (close to the sea and to shops and restaurants) Quiet place
Review 25:Staff non particularly friendly. Very small room non particularly well furnished. For the money we payed it was below expectations, even for a very touristic place such as Cancale.
Review 26:Great location on the quay
Review 27:touristic place will say automatically a lot of visitors from 11h to 23h but it is acceptable for few days. (probably more quiet out of july and august)
Review 28:Very professional and friendly staff, sea food, terras, view on the bay, breakfast, walk to the ''pointe du groin'', parking at hotel charge near the hotel, ...
Review 29:We had dinner on the first evening; It was too pricey, although every thing was very good and very well prepared.
Review 30:My spouse and me had a room with balcony facing seafront and the harbor; the view was fantastic. Our room number was 7 on the second floor. The manager upgraded us, as we made a reservation for a room with sea view without balcony. The stuff is very kind and very helpful. A beautiful hotel situated on the dock of the fishermen Barbour. I warmly recommend this hotel.
Review 31:Internet was not working on our floor despite "repair" bystaff there.
Review 32:A quaint and comfortable hotel served by staff who are very friendly andhelpful. A good stay overall .
Review 33:We loved it all. We didn't like having to leave.
Review 34:We loved being there. The views are spectacular and the food too. The owners are especially thoughtful and caring. Can't say enough good about it!
Review 35:There was nothing that we did not like about le continental.
Review 36:Fantastic service The restaurant was amazing - the food was really delicious. Lift acces to the rooms is great Fantastic location Quite Clean rooms Great modern bathroom Comfortable bed Good security
Review 37:Of course à room with à view, that was the reason we choose the hotel. But now I know more, Madame and Monsieur Wasser, who run the hotel and restaurant are super nice. The cuisine is excellent and mr Christophe adjusted the menu so we could taste certain dishes I never had before. So very forthcoming and pleasant. Hope I have a chance to return!!
Review 38:We likes everything !!!!
Review 39:Our room was superb and the views stunning. Reception was very frieendly, and bi-lingual (possibly more !!) and breakfast well above average. Although we were not able to dine in the Continental for dinner (it was their closed day ) we were directed to..and a reservation made for us...to an excellent restaurant 5 minutes away, where we had superb food and were told by fellow clients ( who were staying at the Continental for several days, ) that the Continental's food was of the same high quality.
Review 40:We had a very nice stay, almost "feet in the water", because the hotel is separeted from the sea only by a quiet street. The view on the tremendous tide is wonderful. The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Wasser, are very helpful and the hotel was very clean, with good and large beds. And the oyster-banks are just around the corner, so you can get the freshest oysters ever at 4 EUR per dozen!
Review 41:Hotel is not easy to find when you are in a car - the sign is very small - so look for the restaurant signs. Rooms are acceptable but the 3 star rating is optimistic, even for a French hotel.
Review 42:On the seafront close to everything you would want to see in Cancale. The hotel restaurant is L'Ormeau and is excellent, but not cheap. We stayed one night and it was perfect for our needs.
Review 43:Liked everything but one small point - with no airconditioning the rooms might be very hot in the summer months.
Review 44:We liked the location of the hotel in Cancale which was opposite the harbour and next door to numerous shops and restaurants. The owners were very pleasant and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I was late going down for breakfast one morning and they phoned our room to tell me to take my time and come down when I have dried my hair! That was a rather nice. The breakfast was very good with lots of variety and jars of their homemade jams at our disposal. All in all the two days that we spent at Le Continental were very pleasant indeed. There is no parking at the hotel but public spaces are available nearby some at a cost.
Review 45:We were very lucky that we decided to book a room with a sea view in this hotel. If you do so than you live in a place where everybody come for a great sea views. All the restaurants and the market situated on the same street, so you'll have 5 minutes walk everywhere. From our window we could see the ebb and flow. It is better to call this window a wall of glass. This place is really beautiful!
Review 46:Our room was large and light with a wonderful view across the bay. Thebed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom clean and well-equipped.Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with an emphasis on seafood, and we were extremely well taken care of by the owners. Breakfast was generous and varied. Highly recommended!
Review 47:I would like to come back to Le Continental because I had a really comfortable and relax stay with my family. No complain. The room was perfectly clean. The owner couple were very warm welcome to us. They were always kind and paid warm attention to my son even when he was upset. I really appreciated their hospitality. Breakfast was superb. A lot of home made jams, good cheese board, various bread and good coffee.
Review 48:Price quite high but i booked two days upfront a bank holiday week end.
